Hello,

I recently bought this (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12811)pda that generally is called “HTC Touch Clone”, “DX Touch”, “Dopod S1”, so I really don’t know its name. Since I bought it I have been following this forum and I already found several stuff here, especially software that I now use every day.

This is a ready good phone and I really happy with it (taking into account the price that is really low compared to similar phones here in Portugal) and my only problem with this phone is the network reception that is really crappy. I was told that updating the radio this problem could be solved, so my question is does anyone who owns this phone was able to somehow update the ROM of this phone?

If so, how did you do it? Which ROM did you used?

Many Thanks in advance,

Nando666

you cant flash ANY roms here.
Clones is not supported and you may end up with a dead phone after flashing.

Im very sorry but this is how it works.

It is possible, since they provide one image in their forum (http://www.dealextreme.com/forums/Forums.dx/Forum.12811~threadid.184085).

Does anyone with this phone tried a ROM upgrade?

Its risky.
If you think you want to give a shot.

I have no say.
Cheers.

I know it is risky. That is why I am looking for someone with this phone that can share his experiences.

Someone?

You are not likely to find anyone here with an Elf Clone, folks at this site deal with the genuine HTC phones, not with clones.

Therefore no-one here is going to be willing to make any statements about the clones.

I have seen several posts of people that have a clone in this forum.

My understanding is, you cannot flash any ROM that is designed to work on an authentic HTC to a clone. Doing so will ultimately brick your phone, quite a few people tried with the same result.

Yes, Agreed.
MORAL: dont flash, unless you a ready for the support line.
