Go to :
Start > Settings > System > Power.

On the first tab you should see a checkbox to prevent charging while connected to the computer.

EDIT : oops, sorry... didn't see you had a smartphone and not a PDA... I just don't know if the option exists on such devices.

why do you want that? :D :p

Charging from USB will damage the battery and shorten its life.

No it won't.

I'm on year 2 of my battery. I only charge via USB.
