Who's selling Hero already? I didn't think it was out yet. At least not in the USA. Could I get an unlocked one somehow and run it on TMo with the standard G1 plan?

download recovery.img from
http://www.sendspace.com/file/9fmb1p
or snag this..
http://jf.andblogs.net/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=12
and extract the recovery.img
then get fastboot set up and do:
fastboot boot recovery.img
then hit alt+b to make a backup to the SD
and here is the answer i guess its depending on what fastboot loader it has
see attachement
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=190794&d=1243868733
if it has this boot loader
Power+camera button
you can fastboot into a recovery img. and do a nandroid dump onto the sd card

He was talking about it on the Hero porting thread. So I guess root, then do that adb command?:
"heh this isn't much to worry about. as soon as someone gets hold of the phone, it's only a matter of doing a "adb pull /system system" and uploading it somewhere for us to be able to grab it and run with it :P"

Talked to someone that had the training today and fastboot is there but says remote: not allowed adb says.not supported command. Plus is false start anyway seems pre production Rom and did not have exchange or sherpa or other advancements that are promised yet looks like software of G1

That sounds like T-Mobile not wanting to let their stuff out before the release of the phone. Sounds about normal :/

You are going to want to wait on this because the ones that you are going to get trained on are just going to be the 1.5 software like the G1, actual Mytouch when it launches will have the goodies like that serpha and exchange on it. But right now all the ones that i have seen are just the 1.5 software update nothing different.
