1) This is not a dev topic, so it does not belong in this subforum
2) Rosie is not a "rom", it is a UI element from the Hero "rom". Also, "rom" is a misnomer. Better to use the term "build".

When I say rosie rom I mean roms with rosie in it. What could I say, hero rom? That won't be correct because it's not a rom made for hero; it's made for dream and magic.

And if it's going to be locked, it's going to be locked.

would it not have to be ported still??

I would imagine dream people can just flash HTC's new rom without rooting. If there is no extra protection I don't see any difficulty porting the new rom like haykuro ported the rogers rom to g1.

wow way to be cool, douche. Rosie cant be added to any rom and since it is deeply integrated into any of the Roms it runs on a "UI element" (the term you gave it) does not do it justice.

Also since everyone on here calls it a Rom. i don't know who you think your are to decide that everyone is malformed and should start calling it a build instead of a Rom.

In further notice you are a pompous ass, who obviously thinks he is better than everyone because of his stature on a forum site.you think with all the post he has left he would learn to leave more constructive criticism instead of flaming whenever given the chance.

That is all Thank you.

Oh, I see. I guess it doesn't matter that HTC and Google (as well as many notable Dream hackers like JF (http://jf.andblogs.net/2009/05/24/jfv151-images-are-out/) and TheDudeofLife (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507151)) use the term "build" as well? Well, frankly I don't really care what it's called, it was just a simple factoid for the op.

Eh? I'm not sure how you interpreted my post as a "flame". It was merely 1) a correction in the terminology the OP used and 2) a reminder that new threads in the dev forum should be purely for development. Rest assured that if my post were a flame (say perhaps if I had called someone a 'douche' or 'pompous ass'), it would have been modded quite swiftly. I have no idea if you've read the stickies at the top of this subforum or not, but my reply might be considered polite compared to some other veterans around here :D

Just...wow....and calling people "douche" too, the irony.
Rosie is the UI shell HTC created for android. Rosy is NOT a rom, it's just one of the main applications.

And now HTC is taking that back sayin it wont go to "google" branded devices. So it can go to the magic, but not they mytouch3G with google.

Personally I'm not a fan of the rosie UI. I like the simplicity of basic Android, and only 3 screens.

In our safety, I'm pretty sure that we can get it anyways if we've rooted and install it manually ^_^

We've already proven without a doubt that the Rosie home replacement pretty much requires the HTC core, framework and associated libraries. I find it highly unlikely that we'll see Rosie on CBR, ADP or ION builds.

HTC calls it the 'Sense UI', and will be on non 'with google' phones. Prob easiest to rip the Rogers Rom, and add google apps back to it.

I Love the HTC interface (except for the dialer), but I also use the crap out of google apps.

I can has cupcake and eat it too?

Anything with an HTC core should be able to take the Rosie home replacement. Rogers phones and any of the leaked Sapphire builds that haykuro put out.

Hell, I somewhat agree with him, although the name calling puts him on nearly the same level. I have been a member here for a good while, but this recent "tough love" thing is out of hand. It seems certain people can't wait to tattle on someone for posting in the development forum. Jesus, if the admins want to control posts with orwellian dictatorship, then perhaps they should require permissions before someone can open a new topic in the development section. I mean his post WAS related to rom development, kinda.

Anyhow, it just seems a little petty to belittle someone for improperly calling Rosie a rom. I mean, come on it wasn't that big of a mistake. Who even cares....it's almost academic since most everyone calls it the rosie rom...still gets the point across

Flaming and wrong sections aside..

Did anyone else notice that on this release version of Rosie home, when swiping left/right to change screens, the 'dock' bar (with app drawer, phone, and add buttons) no longer slides down? This means you can no longer just slide it down, grab the white bubble and quickly slide between all the screens/touch the screen you want to jump to quickly. I found this quite handy when having so many screens. Maybe it was part of what was slowing her down..

Really? I was guessing it was the metric fuck ton of resources Rosie required as a whole. What was the weather widget? Like 7 megs. Christ.

Well, I would assume there were many sources dragging down Rosie, this being only a possible one lol. I was just saying, that I see the removal of this feature as a downgrade of sorts. So, I would venture a guess that they did so, in order to maintain/gain speed when switching screens.
