Ok guys I'm go to show you step by step how to upgrade your Samsung i600 to Windows Mobile 6.1 If you need any help PM me.

First of all download and install Active Sync 4.5
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx

Now go to this thread and download your version of WM6.1 I will be using version 2.0 for this tutorial.

Download this file WCE DOWNLOADER

Download Samsung Modem Drivers and were set to go (:

Install Active Sync 4.5 first

Extract your Windows Mobile 6.1 version that you downloaded and REMEMBER WHERE YOU EXTRACT IT TO ! It will create a file called pda.bin

Unzip and install the Samsung Modem Drivers you downloaded



In Active Sync disable USB Connections by unchecking the tick in this box-

Open up WCE DOWNLOADER -

Click PDA -

Open the pda.bin file you download and extracted ( Windows Mobile 6.1 )

Turn your phone off

Plug in the USB Cable

Restart the phone in Bootloader (http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Image:Resetda2.jpg) mode

It will start in bootloader mode

Windows will recognize the device and run the Samsung Modem Drivers you installed earlier



When it says device found in WCE DOWNLOADER. Click Start Download

Turn your phone off an on again. Wait for about 5 minutes. If it does not load then phone turn the phone off.

Try to flash the phone again. Make sure ActiveSync USB Connections are disabled and that the Samsung Modem Drivers are installed!

Let me know how you go.

for asia version (indonesia) 1# u need to flash it to china version WM6 then flash it use nokser's rom. though you flash it to samsung official rom (indonesia), it will be stuck in logon.

Here is how to disable Threaded SMS:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Setting s\OEM]
"SMSInboxThreadingDisabled"=dword:1 -> Change to "0" if you want to Enable Threaded SMS

and here is how to have SMS Sent Notification :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs]
"SMSNoSentMsg"=dword:0 -> Change to "1" if you want to Disable SMS Sent Notification


Use any Registry Editor software to edit that guys:D:D

I've already helped someone upgrade from wm5 to wm6.1
You got wrong version software, you need i600XXGD1, this is the first step to do. Afterwards, you will need to run the i600uXXupdater.exe to get official wm6. From there on you choose wm6.1 nokser rom and you're done, read below carefully and use windows xp

you need first to update your s/w version to i600XXGD1, here you go

I guess you already have the modem drivers installed. Well, don't forget to disable usb connections in active sync in order to perform a good flash.
Once you're done with this step you're ready to update the phone to wm6.
Change the pre-settings to dutch version this<way:

Enter in the "Admin setting" menu:
*#1546792*#

Enter in the "Preconfiguration" menu:
Operator Code *#81230*#

- select "Netherlands", the phone will reboot a couple of times

- run the "i600UXXupdater.exe" and follow the instructions.
When finished you'll need to enter admin settings again to choose your country

Then use the nice guide provided by callumography to upgrade from wm6 to wm6.1

Hmm this is a very interesting guide to say the least. Looks simple and straight forward .. so I'm taggin this topic :P

I have my old unused i600 (with the original WM6 upgrade) laying left in its box. Thinking about flashing this with a new ROM.

Any recommendations? My preference goes to a clean ROM (perhaps with useless junk removed) that is stable. I don't need the fanciest ROM out there. :)

Finally I could upgrade in the phone by WCE DOWNLOADER (in bootloader mode). After downloading completed phone restarted and stuck at Ultramessaging; and from that moment though phone is still connected to PC, activesynch shows 'not connected'. So, now I am not able to get connection between PC & Phone. Plz help to get back my phone working.

guys i was using another way of upgrading my phone than yours i used another software upgrader


Make sure you have ActiveSync 4.5 or higher installed.
BACKUP YOUR PHONE -Use ActiveSync to backup the contacts, and browse to the phone for images / mp3’s etc.

Download the Modem Driver (required for ‘Flashing’) and install it.
Download the i600UXXGG2 WM6 RAR file and unpack [Link to MoDoCo page] [Alternative Link to RapidShare Download of the same file]
Ensure that you ‘disable‘ the USB Connection in the ActiveSync Connection Settings whilst you attempt this.

In the image downloader I got

Thanx for the hint, but i already installed VMware, and managed to get download progress working, i`m at 028%.

If this will result in a failuire i`ll try it your way.

LE: Worked perfectly with VMware.
Now all that`s left is to test the ROM :)

LE2: All seems to work just fine except the Bluetooth connection.
The wireless problem i had before is gone now.
Going to post this problem on the ROM`s page :D
