So, I'm going to discontinue the current JustHome ROM after I release a 23001 based build. But I'm also working on a whole new thing:

Introducing SuperJustKitchen!

This kitchen I'm working on will have the following features (not all released at the same time.)

Planned Features:
Multiple Devices (Not just for the Herald)
Stripped ROM with modulized stock ROMs so you can build a STOCK ROM.
Etc etc.

Finished Features
LZX and XPR compression.
Based on Ervius Visual Kitchen
MultiLanguage
Up to date with the newest wm6.1 and wm6.5 builds (I will release build packages)
Auto XIP and SYS porting
Auto ULDR removal
AutoNBH packaging
Auto flashing as part of the cooking process
No worries about having to remove conflicting files
Support batch - Enables or Disables Logging

"Extra Buttons":
Auto OEM to EXT (and OldEXT to NewEXT) package convertion
Auto UPX compression
PNG compression of all png's in the SYS, EXT and OEM

I think at first, I'm just going to release it with a Stock HTC ROM (nothing removed) but with updated builds, auto porting, the lzx compression and ULDR removal. Then start releasing cleaner ROMs. The biggest problem will be finding updated apps that have the right language MUI's.

Update: I've got the English version and the Spanish versions ready. I haven't done any stripping of the ROMs, yet, though. At the moment, it just boots the stock HTC ROMs with a newer updated Windows Mobile Build.

I'm also going to automatically optimized every PNG in the ROM files as well as include a PNG optimizer for anything people add. I'm also going to add a UPX compressor to compress EXT folders. (The new "OEM packages.")
I'm also adding a choice so you can choose your keyboard layout based on your phone and have a keyboard that matches your phone's hardware keyboard.

Languages supported for the Herald (both 6.5 and 6.1) so far:

English (wwe-0409)
Spanish (spa-0C0A)
Russian (rus-0419)
Italian (ita-0410)
German (ger-0407)
Norwegian (nor-0414)

Languages supported for the Herald (Only 6.5) so far:

Finnish - 040B
Swedish - 041D
Danish - 0406
Dutch - 0413
Russian - 0419
Portuguese - 0816
French - 040C

Partial Support:

Chinese - 0804 - WM6.5 only

Partial Support is for languages for which I lack OEMs. What I have done so far is patch together an English ROM with most of the language files to create a booting ROM with the partially supported language. Unfortunately, there are many bugs to this. I still need to find proper RUU's for these languages.

Preliminary tests show:

Without stripping the ROM:
At 6mb pagepool.
Faster than JustStableV2.
27+mb free at startup (after closing two programs that launch at startup.)

EXACTLY the same set up with 6.5, has only 22mb (went down to 21mb after using the landscape mode.)

Are you gonna release this awesome kitchen for all of us to use? That would be cool.

So this is basically just for the Herald? I would think there are more Wings out there than Heralds, when are you, if you are....going to do a Wing Kitchen?

The wing and the Herald are virtually the same device. If you look at the screenshot, you should see the options to change the only things that is different between the Herald and the Wing, the keyboard driver.

So, it's compatible with the HTC Herald, the HTC Atlas, and the Tmobile Wing.

Updated languages supported:

Added:
German
Italian

(This is full support for both WM6.1 (21051) and WM6.5 (23001))

I still need a HTC stock herald chinese ROM to extract from in order to support chinese. (I've got almost all the other Herald ROMs, but I'm missing this one.) If anyone has it, please tell me.

Updated: Added Norwegian Support

Added support for DPI dependent EXT to ensure compatibility with other devices.

Added Multiple DPI SYS support. (You can only access DPI's compatible with your device.)

I still need a few languages. More notably, Chinese. I need a Chinese RUU for any of the Herald/Atlas devices. That includes the Dopod C858.

If there is anything I am able to do to help let me know.I'm in the middle of reformatting my laptop right now (again... this time because I modified part of windows and caused an accidently instability and didn't feel like fixing it. lol)
But, yea, I can definitively use your help. I need scouts.

I need to find the DPI/language packs for my 6.1 sources.
I posted what I have here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534094). Everything else, I need.
We can get them from stripping down ROMs that are not encrypted and from kitchens. I also need the OEM folders for the languages not listed in THIS thread. (Mostly the Chinese files. (CHS 0804))

Thanks. This is as close as I've gotten so far, but this ROM is protected and therefore, I can't extract it properly. I need to find the person who created this ROM and ask them for those files. Do you think you can help me with that?

I think I found a whole page of Chinese ROM's. I'm google translating it right now, but it appears to be a list of Chinese ROM's: http://4tv.cn/html/duopudazhinenshouji/duopudac858shuaji_romxiaz/index.html

Hmm.... I got an idea.
I stripped the ROM into its parts...
Then I created my own OEM by hand to match the regular english OEM but with the chinese files... but since I don't have any RGU files, I'm going to flash the ROM into my phone and dump the registry and then rebuild the RGU from that... whether or not it will work remains to be seen. lol

OK... it didn't work. Too many things become broken and I don't want to sit there and fix them all one by one. I'd rather find someone who has access to the original files. I'm going to try to dump all those ROMs in that list. lol Thanks!

Added: Full 6.5 support for French

Added: Partial Support for Chinese (work in progress: Boots, but the hardware buttons aren't properly mapping. I think I may know why. Also, a few occasional fonts don't show up properly.)
I stitched up Chinese support by hand, literally putting files together from the official English HTC Rom, from a third party wm6.0 ROM and from a third party wm5.0 ROM.

This will let you create a brand new 6.5 ROM based on a whole new base. It will be the easiest to use kitchen that the Herald has ever had. With it, you won't really need to know very much.

Open program:
Choose device.
Choose Language:
Choose build.
Choose EXT DPI
Choose what packages you want to include or exclude.
Choose whether or not you want LZX compression
Click on Create ROM.
Wait for the Flash center to automatically come up.

So when is this expected for release? And i have a few more questions. With this kitchen will i be able to keep a 6.5 rom stock, for instance if i wanted all of the original apps to be included? with this would it be possible to remove the SIP thats currently installed in your 6.5 roms? So is this going to be for us to make roms just how we want it? This is nice i cant wait for it!

1. You can make a stock ROM if you wanted to. I created a whole section where all the stock apps are stored. (So you can also make a stripped ROM.)
2. The SIP that I have included was included by me by choice. This was my personal choice. This is a kitchen, it leaves all the choices to the cook. If you want to include it, you can, if you don't want to, you don't have to.
3. This kitchen will NOT decompile my ROM so you can edit it. This kitchen's base ROM is a WHOLE new base. You won't be able to make a custom JustHome or JustStable. Those are a whole different set of ROMs. But I suppose you can something similar, but not exactly, unless you do a lot of manual editing.
4. This is really meant to make the life of a cook easier, but it's so easy to use, they can also be used by the average joe.

Not exactly, but if you put in two apps that are the same or similar, the one processed last will overwrite the first one processed as far as settings and files (files only if the file names match.)

You get two big frowns from me.

Have a nice holiday Ivan! Not sure what there is to do up in Canada. I remember my teacher telling me a story about his college days...They had this idea (everyone was doing it, right) to go up to Canada, get a job there, and you get really rich. Well, they got up there (after partying the whole way on the road) and turns out all the other kids beat them to it. So, they had to chill out up there for a while, and they found a job chopping up fish. Basically, he got drenched with blood and had fish guts running down his face.

But I'm sure you can find something better to do up there, Ivan! Maybe be a wedding crasher, of a gay marriage! (no offense, just thought it'd be a unique experience, as most of the United States is very restrictive about marriages for some reason).

Have fun!

Yes, but in order for the kitchen to make a ROM, it has to have a decompiled ROM. That's the ROM that I'm cleaning up. The problem isn't cleaning up, per say, but cleaning up and categorizing all the files for all the 13 different languages to save the programs that I remove so that they can be added later on.

Mmmm, okay. That all just went over my head.

Question about "Visual" kitchens...Are they as powerful/useful as the "old" standard kitchens? Or are they over-simplified and they sacrafice power features for simplicity, like the iPhone?

There is no sacrifice of anything. The old ones were very simple. Even simpler than the visual kitchen. All the "powerful" features were added by people like me with scripting.

I love how the mods are closing those stupid threads, though. It's interesting.

Ivan actuall we're all here just like ace we can give a str8 answer or until that thred gets closed plus do the still ask how to flash thru an SD card?

Well I'd hope you don't try answering someone. You're grammer would just destroy the newbs. Are you always posting from your phone? Or you just love to type in txt-lingo? lol. I can barely understand you sometimes.

Oh, nvm, I thought you were guncent. That guncent has real bad txting-grammer. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, for now.

Yes, cooking that in is EXTREMELY simple. Just create a OEM folder out of the cab, and cook it in. Who knows, it might be even simpler than that with Ivan's "Visual" kitchen.

I knew how to do it in WM6.0 and 6.1, but I wasn't sure with the changes in 6.5 if it was possible to display that bar correctly, given the Titanium business and all.

Yeah, I wasn't complaining that Ivan hadn't made any progress. Everybody deserves a vacation (especially him). I was just saying that I was excited to see that there were three new pages and then disappointed when it wasn't related to this ROM, that's all. I'm patient. I can wait for the kitchen and enjoy JustHome in the meantime.

Neither. Unfortunately, since I got back, my work has had me SWAMPED.
Today, I only got a few minutes of work into the kitchen. I'm almost done stripping the ROM. Stripping it isn't really the hardest part, it's properly stripping and categorizing all 13 different languages properly so that you can recook all of what I remove. Anyways, I'm working on it. I've also have to work on a lot of the extra functions of the kitchen. I might release an alpha, soon, though. Or at least a few ROMs based on it (stripped down) just so you guys can see what the base is like.

Mmm, I like that one a lot more. It's more interesting, has a feeling that it was taken with one of those lenses that show more of the environment but distort the image. The name of that lens escapes me, but they're used in skate vids a lot.

It doesn't seem like you used a special lens, though, it was just how the environment naturally was. That adds a really cool effect to it. So what makes that picture good is just how interesting the environment is. You were able to capture it all in the scene, too, so it works well. I liked that one.

To see what languages are supported, please see post #2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4068465&postcount=2).
To see screenshots, please see post #3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4068469&postcount=3).

So far I just have the following to strip for the ROM and then the Beta will be out (with a stripped ROM and some of the tools ready.) (At the moment, work has had me extremely busy so I'm not sure how long this will take.)

AVDecDLL
Camera
HTCWMPPlug
LockStreamDRM
MFCDLL
mHub
PictureEnhancement
RingtonePlugin
ShareDLL
SymbolPad
TaskManager
PhoneCanvas
SmartDialing

I'm stripping EVERY program on the ROM. ALL of it.
It's all being carefully categorized then put together into packages with all the languages and registry keys so that you can reinstall each package if you wish to do so. Remember that I will not be adding any official packages unless I can find them for every language. (Or I might have to release English only package sets since those are the easiest ones to find.)

EDIT: I forgot to mention a few other things:
CommManager and other things...

Today, I got some time to work on this finally. Got very far in the stripping and categorizing and recreating of the 13 language program packs. I'm at 72MB of the stripped ROM with lots more stuff to strip out. It also has about 28mb free of RAM at startup (with a 6mb pagepool.) (This is with 6.1 5.2.21051 with no Flash or any other "useless" item installed.)

Alpha 0.1 reached:
ROM mostly stripped (a few things here and there that I still have to work on)
Stripped files turned into proper EXT packages for reinsertion with multi language support for 13 languages

And much much more.

I might release this early early alpha today.
Mind you, I am NOT going to release to you all the package you need to add this program or that program. I MIGHT bundle converters, but that's about it. I am slowly going to build up a set of EXT packages for all languages with all the programs, but it's a HUGE project, please do not ask me to add this or that just because you need it.
Cooks, you can use this to make ROMs, but please mention SJK anywhere in the post. I want other cooks to see that it's an option for them, too. ^_^
I will be expanding this to other devices, too... but that's still some ways to go.
Now for the bad news:
It's massive.... almost a gig large. I might separate the language packs to make it smaller... I'm going to lunch now so I'll finish this sentence later. lol
Oh, and I have to create an installer for it...

Lol, that's huge!

Make seperate language packs, if it's easy.

And yea, you don't even really need a CAB to OEM converter, but, might as well include it so that people don't complain. Although it's easiest to just search for OEM folders. (Except Java, that one is counted as Warez)

I'll test the kitchen too, for you.

Does your kitchen have a Save/Load feature? So you could be working on multiple ROM's and manage them by just loading a different saved file that holds all of the configuration, XIP SYS OEM folder selections, etc?

The installer is only about 150mb but I'm gonna cut that and create multiple installers to make it easier when I start making this multi device or whenever I update something so everyone doesn't have to redownload everything from scratch.
I'll be busy for the rest of the night so I will hopefully be uploading this tomorrow.

It depends. If I were to make it into an EXE file, I'd go with one of these (this is the full command that I'd pass to 7zip):

If it's primarily binary data:
7za a -t7z -m0=lzma -mx=9 -mmt=off -m0=LZMA:d27:fb=128:mc=256 -r ".\output-file.7z" ".\input-directory\*"

If it's primarily text files:
7za a -t7z -m0=lzma -mx=9 -mmt=off -m0=BCJ2 -m1=LZMA:d27:fb=128:mc=256 -m2=LZMA:d24:fb=128:mc=256 -m3=LZMA:d24:fb=128:mc=256 -mb0:1 -mb0s1:2 -mb0s2:3 -r ".\output-file.7z" ".\input-directory\*"

If I were going to distribute it as a 7z file, I'd use LZMA2. LZMA2-compressed 7z SFX files are fickle creatures, otherwise I'd be using it for the distribution of EXE installers.

I repackage installers all the time, by the way, for the sole purpose of trimming the fat and getting the file size as small as possible without changing the installer engine (this is because I want the installations to still be upgradeable).

Here's an example of a repackaged codec pack that I maintain (with express permission from the author): http://www.doitrightconsulting.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=561

13.6 MB down from 19.5 MB.

I'll check it out. ^_^

Anyhoo, I had already uploaded the files (about 140mb in total between the seperate installers for the seperate parts.)
I just have to create the walkthrough before I release the links. (And please don't go looking through my files. Be patient. :p )

Mmm, love a good walkthrough. If your walkthrough is still not accessable enough to the super-newbs, then I'll enhance it with more details.

And now I can finally add some Visual Kitchen stuff to my guide!

(Telling us to not go looking through your files just makes it even more tempting, Ivan).

No, SuperJustKitchen is a WM6.1 AND WM6.5 kitchen. I have a stripped ROM for builds:
21051
23016
And I'm currently working on 23022.
(I also had at one time but removed because I updated them: 23001, 23004, 23007, and 23009)

(Moved from the JustHome thread)

Ok, that sounds awesome! Man, I was gonna work on porting 23022 later today, but I guess I might get my work cut out for me :p

Porting to me isn't the hard part... it's categorizing all 20 languages and all 6 DPI's.... (remember, I'm making this compatible with multiple devices. The Herald only supports 13 of those languages and one of those DPI's.)

Actually, I made a booboo... it looks like I screwed up the installers. I have to make them again. :p
I'll do them when I come back from lunch.

I was like, I'm gonna build a ROM while I'm working on this to see how much free RAM I get on a 6.5 build and it started erroring out. I had half of the files in one directory and the rest in another...

Hopefully you didn't include the error screenshots in the walkthrough. It would be like that time Bill Gates was introducting Windows 95 to an audience and got a blue screen.

No, lol.

I'm not sure if I'll be including screenshots just because of how simple it is. Or if I do, I'll probably just keep it to a minimum.

Good idea about keeping them minimum if at all. Just look at Ace's cooking guide, it's like following a picture maze. He even included arrows so you now where your eyes are supposed to be looking.

Well no one's gonna be using Holly's Kitchen anymore, anyways, so that guide won't be very necessary. I might remove some of those pics though. They don't format well on smaller laptop screens.

Go to my website and download SuperJustKitchen v0.4 to get the Spanish compatible kitchen. (It won't have many EXT packages, though, since it's hard to find packages in all 13 different languages that the kitchen used to support. That is why I dropped support of all other languages in v0.5

You cooked in a program that is causing a problem. Not all of the programs have been tested on the Herald.

Yes. I understand what you meant. My answer is the same.

But also, try to start replying to the official thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545572

The problem is that one or two programs in the kitchen aren't compatible with the Herald. Save your log and post it here. (Or better yet, on the other thread.)

Hi, any plans to roll out a polaris version? I am trying to adapt it myself but no success yet.

ivanmmj
9th December 2009, 02:58 AM
I may. The only issue is that cooking for Qualcomm devices adds a layer of complexity due to their radios being so touchy. Do they still maintain an auto ril setting cab/package to make ROMs for people with different radios?
Try to respond to this in the main SuperJustKitchen thread, though. This thread was just the "here's what's coming." I'm going to lock it now to try to keep everything in one thread.
