Well dude if you want to make tej kitchen multilang its correct that you must to replace al the lang folders in sys... then
Copy and paste again the Base_lang_0409 that is in your 0409 folder inside the oem and paste it to a new folder for your lang... then
Rename the XXXX for your lang on that folder... inside of it... you will have some more muis and many of them are for camera and mms if you get the baselang directly from a stock dumped rom... suggestion dump a stock rom and get them for your lang and replace them for your lang muis. then overwrite the initflashfiles from the da_gs thread...
Then change the entries of mui lang to your lang not 409 (erase the 0 as 0409) at the end... the rom can boots but is true your start menu is diferent it dont has all the ext apps... and some other in stratup cant be launched...
The way i did it...!!!!
make a backup of that ext packages... then Retranslate all the ext packages app.dat to the folders that must be in your lang as said in the init flash files.... and.... now you could get all your ext apps inside too!!!!!
hahaha its so much work to do if you have so much ext packages you know...
Keep it up guys!!!!
Oh i forgot to mention that if you have any other mui file or html or whatever that has the lang numbers.... i recommend you to make a ext packages that allows you to install them into the windows directory.

OK,
It seems that I am missing some step.
I extracted the XDA.rar kitchen to C:\XDA
I removed the files from XDA\EXT\HERMES\COMMON (To prevent duplicate files on the next step.)
I extracted QUEXDA23034 (miron B1).rar into the same XDA folder.
I downloaded "WM65-23409-CE-OS-5-2-4457-LANG-0409-DPI-ALL-RESH-ALL-RESV-ALL.rar"
I recreated the directory structure using the directories and files from 23008 as a template using only 96DPI and 240x320 files, as needed.
For XDA\SYS\23409\SHARED\COMMON I used the files from "WM65-23409-CE-OS-5-2-4457-LANG-0409-DPI-192-RESH-480-RESV-640.rar" (This means that I probably have the wrong .ROM and .VM files.)
I moved .VM to XDA\OEM\HERMES\.VM just like +QuePPC says to do in his tutorial, at the start of this thread.
I edited "XDA\TOOLS\RomSaved\Mirion_B1 by +QuePPC.erv" and replaced 23034 with 23409.
I opened the Ervius kitchen and loaded the "Mirion_B1 by +QuePPC.erv" file
I ran "Create ROM."
I flashed AT&T striped to the Hermes. (Booted normal, all the way, twice.)
I then flashed this 23409 Mirion to the Hermes.
I get the first screen, then the backlight gets brighter, then the image fades to white... then nothing...
I am trying to learn, but I have tried several things since and they ALL end at the same white screen.
What did I miss / what do I need / what do I need to fix?

I extracted the XDA.rar kitchen to C:\XDA
I removed the files from XDA\EXT\HERMES\COMMON (To prevent duplicate files on the next step.)
Be care here please... cause i have in my ext folder many things needed to work like essential or MUST TO ADD""" commanager etc etc
I extracted QUEXDA23034 (miron B1).rar into the same XDA folder.
I downloaded "WM65-23409-CE-OS-5-2-4457-LANG-0409-DPI-ALL-RESH-ALL-RESV-ALL.rar"

(You are using the wrong .VM... .ROM doesnt matters really... but its needed in some ways... and dont forget to add your SQM dummy package netcf 3.5)
I moved .VM to XDA\OEM\HERMES\.VM just like +QuePPC says to do in his tutorial, at the start of this thread.
Yep remember is the .VM according on MY kitchen that works for us hermes! dont use the default that comes with the newer versions
I edited "XDA\TOOLS\RomSaved\Mirion_B1 by +QuePPC.erv" and replaced 23034 with 23409.
I cant understand this step... you can do not use this same file cause you know... the file will able the old build and some other things that you have deleted when you overwrite the kitchens...
I opened the Ervius kitchen and loaded the "Mirion_B1 by +QuePPC.erv" file

Maybe that issues i told you on the quote are the answer try to be sure on that points if you are not so sure you always can add me to your Yahoo or gmail or MSN messenger to get a personal cooking class...
Keep it up... if you like you can upload your entire kitchen and i can see whats wrong in it.

I understand. When I extract XDA I delete files from XDA\EXT\HERMES\COMMON. Then I extract your kitchen into XDA. The result is that I have only your files in XDA\EXT\HERMES\COMMON and no duplicate files - this includes the "MUST TO ADD" folder.

I open "Mirion_B1 by +QuePPC.erv" in Notepad. Then I replace:

EXTBUILD#23034
with:

I save the file and load it in the Kitchen. This way I get your selections to include in the ROM but with 23409 instead of 23034.

thats weird...
You dont need to select again mirion cause i just left in the ext packages and most things just the ones that i use for my mirion so if you dont mind i can take a look of it... but i need to go to sleep now jejeje maybe tomorrow.
BTW did you change the ROM hermes and shared too? i think your problem is due to that selection of the mirion... you must to make your selections is not hard...

Hi +Que PPC
I take your advice and use a chinese stock rom's oem and copy the .VM folder from your oem and copy it to \OEM\HERMES.
Ervius kitchen builds the rom successfully but when i flash the rom to my hermes, it won't go pass the first screen (i.e. i only see the green Mirion screen). Do you have any ideas on what may go wrong?

mmmm disable the EXT package for WOW HD or delete it it causes rom not boots! :D sorry for that i already put a warning on the link at first post. If you see the usb to pc pop up in ext folders... delete it too.. it must be in OEM common. but i think i delete it.

Actually i had so much things MUST TO ADD in my ext folder... try to see if you change theboot.rgu file on muis entrie to your lang... include your OEN base_lang folder and be sure to include all the lang packages... check if you have the wincenls for your lang too!!!! if you want to get it... just dump the xip.bin of your dumped stcok rom. that wincenls you can add it to your OEM common folder too.
I use an ALL langs wincenls for hermes :D

i found the wince.nls in SYS\23034\SHARED\0404\WinCENLS_Lang_0404 so i didn't add another one in the OEM folder. I noticed that there was a _skip file in the WinCENLS_Lang_0404 folder. What does that file do?
+ Que PPC
6th September 2009, 07:39 AM
That must be the lang for your device and it must be for your device.... so the default in the Builds is not the right one get yours from a dumped stock rom and paste it to your OEM\device\COMMON. This file contains multiple lang settings like regional setings and clock.
that must be your problem dude.

Mmmmm lets see... first you need to transform the modules in media adobe adc of your sys, to files... you can use the tool in the GUI kitchen... hope it works for you.
My volume screen is larger than it should be. (I am still playing in Mirion B1 with 23409.) Where do I find the Volume screen in the kitchen?
The size of the volume is controled by the Shell.exe so maybe you couldnt resize it by yourself, must to wait for the build to fix it... i guess Ms will fix this issues at qvga (cause the Builds comes in VGA) when the first official release be public... you know... the HTC Mega is QVGA and is new... so maybe it will be a nice shot to all of us.

With the test theme the volume is the correct size. This suggests that the size is controlled by settings in the theme. I am going to see if I can figure it out.

i have been trying to make a japanese rom from a scratch with your kitchen for days, but it does not boot. i can create 0409 roms with the same oem/rom/sys with your kitchen. of course, i know about *.mui, wince.nls, language structure of the kitchen, and etc. since i have been making japanese roms for universal, hermes, polaris and diamond for years.
the funny thing with it is even if i change SysLang and CurLang in boot.rgu from 0409 (eng) to 0411 (jap) and make a "0409" rom with your kitchen, it boots and SysLang and CurLang are still set 0409.
at first, i thought it was something that i did, however, i doubted that when i dumped a shipped chinese rom and simply rebuilt it. this shipped chinese rom rebuilt with your kitchen did not boot... not sure if you can hard-code to ignore SysLang and CurLang in boot.rgu in your kitchen.
why can i only make 0409 roms with it?? i am now analyzing not my files, but your bat files. thx.
p.s. i modified a diamond kitchen to cater for hermes myself, and i could make a 0411 rom which boots with exactly the same oem/rom/sys. i guess your kitchen has a problem with languages other than 0409...

Changing the pagepool doesnt really give it more ram..well except for it will boot with about 17mb but thats it. Using the old kitchen under the same conditions will give you around 23mb and even more without titanium.
I imagine it must have something to do with the nk.exe or whatever it is thats being used but I can't figure out how to change it.

Ok, I have been trying to figure this out, and I just can't seem to manage. It's just not making sense to me.
How do I add my old oem packages to this kitchen? Right now I get the svn error, but I'm not understanding what needs to be changed.
I can get a rom to build just fine, as long as my oem's aren't in there.
EDIT: I think I am getting somewhere! I had an oem with more than one rgu file, I combined them and now it seems to be happy.

Yeah Boog... in the oem packages the RGU's for some reason (xtrange reasons) they duplicates by itselfs dunno why sometimes...
Altho... if you add all your stuff in OEM pkgs you can find many issues thats why the ext pakages are better cause are flexible at that aspect... If the kitchen say something about Error No SVN folders found... is not an issue or an error that causes a trouble the SVN folders are for make the IMG update.

As i was going through the baseapps folder almost all the module files had the actual file in the module also so ya it would probably take me some time. Now if you could just upload the SYS folder as you have it in your kitchen that should fix it.
I'll just drop it in the folder and see what happens. I really like the ROM I can make but I have to have txt messaging so my girl can txt me or she gets mad!! :p

This kitchen is cool! It makes dumping a rom so ridiculously easy! It always seemed to complicated before. Why didn't you guys make me try this a long time ago?
I think I'm now addicted to dumping roms! Not really a need for a "kitchen" unless someone encrypts the rom.

hey boog i heard you saying i dislike wm6.5... thats why we never know your likes.. as an example... me.. :D
I didnt knew that you make your own roms... guessing thats why you want to dump...
And yes this dumps a nbh or nb automaticaly splits... marge and all of that shit but is slow... bepe and Da_G are working in new tools :p to reduce the time when dumping at just the 10% of the time this kitchen spends... imagine that...!!! i have tried a tool that splits fron an nbh nb or nb0 the imgfs.bin the osnew.nb and the payload... in just... 5 seconds!!!

Hey Que, it's not that I dislike 6.5, exactly. It's that it's not stable enough for me. I use my phone for work, so I'm kinda picky.
It's also why I started cooking. I have a release (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458843) here in the forums, with another possible 6.1 rom in the future. If you poke around my 4shared you can see some of the things I have worked on. As well as other things.
Stable is what I'm going for, but I'm not the best cook. But this kitchen is really what I have been looking for, dunno why it didn't make sense to me the last time I looked at it.

Ok I'm now using my own ROM. Everything for the most part seems to work..Txt messaging works so the woman is happy LOL
Theres a few thigs here and there I had to adjust just minor stuff but so far I'm really liking this build. I had to stick with the default dialer since I don't know how to edit the file to fix that damn dialer scroll bar thing.
I just may release a ROM from this it takes a bit getting use to the whole new larger UI but I sorta like it..
Thanks

Ok, I have a question that just doesn't seem clear to me, after tons of reading.
Some have said battery life is worse when reducing uldr. has anyone played with this much? how much space is gained by reducing it, and how is battery life on our hermes with/without it reduced?
I plan on playing with it, but just wanted to see if anyone has experience with it.

Mmmm Da_G told me one day that is better to leave the uldr as is on the Hermes due to the low Ram and Rom we have... maybe the Rom cnat even boots but as i said or trying to say i never try it.

I took a peek at the kitchen (though haven't flashed the rom from it). And I think I much prefer the ervius visual kitchen over the "click and go" kitchen.
For some reason, ervius's kitchen makes much better sense to me, and I can get it to do more things more easily. And I like to be able to add or remove programs just by clicking them :D

yes boog but as you may know the ervius kitchen at the status i have it... it dont do so much things that can be prformed by all the tools it has... like the ULDR reducing that we must to learn on how it works, (ameet has a cool tutorial to understand that) so in that case we can set the bat file to make the xiporterexe to reduce the hermes ULDr and it will give us... mmm 3 ****n Megabytes more... as i have read in so many new devices thats the part of the Kernel that can be reduced and used for storage... mmm it could took some performance or not... is a way to gain 3 more MB...

10th November 2009, 11:26 AM
que, I guess I need to learn more about changing those things. I was really more curious about battery performance rather than the storage aspect.
My rom normally has 50-55 meg free, so that's plenty for now, considering our hardware. I store everything else on the sd card.
I'll keep studying, and maybe I'll get some things to perform a bit better in the future.
My main concern started because I lose about 10% of battery overnight (charging it before I go to bed), and it used to only be about 3-5%, and that is only with the os (flashing)changing. I've had the same radio, and I have a new battery.

It's not that hard once you have the "AH HA!" moment. :D
Make sure you have the kitchen in a place with no spaces in the path. C:\example_kitchen_stuff\no_spaces\kitchen
Then, some/most of the kitchen come with a saved file, so click 'load'
Then you can check what packages you want or do not want. Then click create.
That should get you started. Then you can figure out how to add more packages to the ext folder.

Am I the only one who happens to find the instructions a little confusing? Maybe its the way the information is formatted in the post? I don't know. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the time and effort that it took to write up this tutorial, but I am genuinely confused every time I try to start at step 1.
What I'm simply trying to do use the latest 6.5.3 build (28002) and put it with the new Visual Kitchen. Is there anyone who could, I guess, break down the steps, or at least guide me in the right direction? I'm using a TP2 with Visual Kitchen v. 1.8.1.

27th November 2009, 04:08 PM
Yes you can do it... jejeje but you are so lost if you couldnt understand this tutorial... cause this tuto is mostly used for hermes device.
First of all!!!!
1.8.1 is obsolet.. you must to update your kitchen to 1.8.2 fixed cause it has new improvements necesarly to set fine a ROM.
Then you must to get your OEMXipKernel folder that is known as Device specific kernel (some devices has Native 6.5 kernel some others have the 6.1 or 6.0 kernel)
Next... You must to get your OEM folder from a dumped ROM how to do this...??? get the last Official ROM branded by your carrier and in your! lang... or to start learning choose the 0409 English its easy to start with that lang first... Open the EVK select "dump" choose the nbh file (inside that Stock rom you will find if extract all the file a file with the ext or name RUU_signed.nbh) and dump it! at the end it will gives you the rom folder... Get it!
Then you will need the Initflashfiles for 6.5 OS you must to check the Developers forum to get them... and replace the one in your oem lang folder...
At the end you must to understand the way how the folders of the sys are arranged so once you get it the last part is to get the MSXipkernel (OS Kernel part) and as the OEMxipkernel copy it to your ROM folder...
If you dont understand nothing of this tha has been xplained in other words... so... go to your forums and ask there, surely you will have with this info, more knowledge to ask for a kitchen...

OK people i will share with you all my last kitchen this is the full but this have just the tweaks
Download it here no builds installed (http://www.mediafire.com/?4ndennqurzm)
So you need to put your own build shown as the tutorial in sys and ROM
Then you can create your own
with my skins and work due to my stolen hermes i will share this to you all as a gift for the great time we past togheter :(
Note: go to this folder
C:\XDA\EXT\Hermes\COMMON\Tweaks\Registry - Enable Auto TimeZone from Network and icons
And edit this reg in the app.reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ShowN ITZPage"=dword:00000001
as you can see the reg has a space in "SHOWN"
ok the right one must be
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ShowNITZPage"=dword:00000001
close save
and tadaaa enjoy.
