I had a quick search using the keywords 'buildos.exe' & virus but didn't get any useful results so I decided to post the question.

I have Avira Antivrus Personal Edition running and it keeps detecting 'BuildOS.exe' as containing a virus. The 'WORM/Hteibook.F worm' to be specific. This happens without me manually running a scan. If I run a scan then the file 'nb_image_converter.exe' is reported as containing the virus 'TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen Trojan'.

I think these are false positives but I can't be sure. Has anyone else had a similar issue and can I ignore these warnings?

Cheers

Andy

Virus's are big buisness on both sides, the problem we all have is that Anti-Virus software is on ultra paranoid...
So since the file may hold attributes similar to a Virus it will give us a false positives...
Upload anything you feel needs extra testing to VirusTotal "it scans files with about 40 Anti-Virus software.
In all i wouldn't worry and since XDA has such a rollover of downloads someone else would have spotted it.
Just my 2p :D

VirusTotal gives BuildOS.exe a clean bill of health. It must be Avira reporting it as a false positive

Avira is a great software but once in a while it gets false positives.
