23016 WM6.5 ROM

LITE ROM
Considerations: The Lite version its really clean giving you the opportunity customize your phone installing whatever you want. Do not expect pretty diallers, Dshow, FSP, .... Maybe with your help we can define installation packs.
Memory Stats after install: Storage in use is 2.74Mb and the Program in use is ~30.5Mb (Need update... i will post photos as soon as possible)
Known Issue:
-Opera exits in some sites with Flash (All the other ROMS i've tested have this problem also) UPDATE1: Antubis gave an workarround (post #6) but i will w8 a bit for next builds. UPDATE2: Problem solved by removing core Flash builds + build 23007

[29/07/2009] Branch 3COM
Build 23016 Lite: http://www.4shared.com/file/121577933/e503f476/WM65Lite-23016.html
- Build Changes.
- Replaced Iolite packages with HTC Mega (Thanks to Da_G)
- Included back the files that were causing some phone canvas to have weird behaviours. The impact in the "liteness" of the ROM was almost 0

[20/07/2009] Branch 3COM
Build 23007 Lite: http://www.4shared.com/file/119423057/8a5b2e60/WM65Lite-23007.html
- Apart from build changes I've cleaned the rom a bit more. No Video codecs are included and some other changes. The idea is to really give you the freedom to choose.
- Opera bug on Flash pages solved by build core files.
- I noticed that some phone canvas are not including all the files and since I've cleaned the ROM as much possible if your Phone Canvas does not work install this (http://www.4shared.com/file/119424722/2de86214/Dlls.html)

Build 23004 Lite R2: http://www.4shared.com/file/117885901/59b8b8c4/WM65Lite-23004-R2.html
- fixed file explorer icons issue with some themes
- some more RAM memory optimizations

It is the Iphone but after one update my computer chrashed so at the moment I am not happy with it, ok back to real life can not find any issues on your rom only that your pure black theme does not always display the icons the way it should be when I am using file explorer.
I do not think it is an issue on your rom but something with the black theme.
The speed of your rom is great, thanks for your rom and keep up the good work.
If I don't find any bug's this will be my last post for the niki community.

-Opera exits in some sites with Flash (All the other ROMS i've tested have this problem also)

It seems to be an issue with WM6.5 Flash packages, IE crashes too when there's a flash video on a web page...

I tried to use "old" 21051 packages : browsers don't crash anymore but no animation playing...

Do you mean you see weird icons in Explorer ? (or Total Commander) If so, just replace gwes.exe by 23001 one and everything will be fixed

For a clean ROM it looks interesting. I've tried to integrate it once in my kitchen but not really successfuly. It seems boot.rgu need more tweaks than what I did...

I hope you'll be able to make it work on Nike ;)

Yes actually I found that post one or two weeks ago and sounded really interesting... I tried to put it on my ROM but no luck I was stuck in the boot screen, so I decided to concentrate to have a stable base first. Maybe I'll give it a try again with more time.

I ment I see some strange icons in file explorer, didn't install Total Commander.

About the rom just have one question, when I take a look at settings/system/about it shows CE OS 5.2.23004 (Build 23004.5.3.0) and when i go to settings/system/device information it shows ROM Version: WM6.5-23001 WWE.
Just wondering ?

Just to say I only quote the solution found somewhere in Da_G's kitchen or PPCGeeks, can't remember exactly :o

What kind of memory optimisation do you use ? fsreplxfilt ? PagePool ? I've got about 46 free MB after a soft reset and about 41MB after a day of "normal" use (calls, SMSs, Opera...).

I've started to do a clean base with unwanted services and programs so each one of us can install whatever they want... But anyway this still on test phase (with good results till now :)). There are many HTC stuff that I think we do not need if you want an WM6.5 core base.

The page pool I'm using 6Mb for now. More should improve everything but in other hand the number of soft reset may be bigger :)
fsreplxfilt I think I have 32768.

Just wondering, why does the Messaging app auto appears in the Taskbar after a reboot? I've never seen this before on other WM6.5 ROMs.

I think i found the reason... but if you can check in your devices.
First off all its strange since i have in my rom a reg tweek to delete that entrance, but in the end it still there.

I didn't tried to delete it directly from the reg so if some one can test i'll be grateful. What i did was to remove the code bellow from BootLauncher package

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\T Mail]
"Module"="\\Windows\\tmail.exe"
"CmdLine"="-NoUI"

Why don't we try a provxml ? Theorically it overrides every other settings so it should work.

Must be something like this : (thx to automated reg to xml translation tool... :D)
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<!-- Hide Tmail after boot -->
<characteristic type="Registry">
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\TMail" translation="filesystem">
<parm name="Module" value="\Windows\tmail.exe" datatype="string"/>
<parm name="CmdLine" value="-NoUI" datatype="string"/>
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>

I can't test it at the moment but it could be a solution...

Thanks for the idea, but the issue here was to remove this lines and not to add.Do you know how to remove reg entries with provxml?

I found some weird behaviour removing this from bootLauncher rgu file in ROM. The EzInput when installed does not work properly.

I tried to remove manually from the Regestry but then i think due to some cache problems every time i restarted it was there again. So i've change it yesterday before going to sleep then I just restarted it when I woke up and it was not there.

EDIT: I fixeD my issue... i think it was the order the instalation was taking the packages.
Now i'm doing benchmarks on some changes to check if resulted if we.. new R3 is expected :) if not lets just continue the investigations :P
BTW i think i will not do a ROM version with the new build 21925.. there are some known issue allready reported in the forum so i think i will wait.

I agree. 21925 is pretty fast n stable but the super big dialog boxes just make certain things unusable because they get pushed out of the screen and there's no way to drag them back to click on them.

anyway 21928 and 23007 is out already, so many builds, so little time! :p

New build in first page for 23007.
I've tried the 21928 but apart from the extra large buttons :) I had also some other problems.

I read in the forum that drag and drop menu items like iphone is supposed to be working in both branches (23007 and 21928). I have to discover why in my 23007 is not working. (in 21928 was working)

I'm not sure start menu drag'n drop is implemented in 2300x branch... It seems they add new (ugly) UI features in 219xx builds only, at least as far as I've seen (it doesn't work on my ROM too).

But maybe it's possible to hybridate interesting stuff from 21928 build in 2300x one ? We just have to know what files have to be replaced and if it's safe for satbility.

Now i'm testing all the packages from HTC Mega delivered da_g... its excellent news for us.

- Camera looks very nice but takes no photo and no front camera

This is the third Winmo6.5 ROM I've used, and it is the third to give me messaging (SMS) issues. The other two wouldn't send messages, it would stick them in the "outgoing" folder and then just not ever send. They also wouldn't let me see received messages, when a message arrived I would click on it and be brought to an empty inbox.

This ROM however, doesn't let me compose. I hit "compose" and it does nothing except give me the "ok" button in the top right corner. :/.

I haven't found a good, working ROM yet - period. I always end up with call issues, bluetooth issues, sluggish issues, random reboots and now this messaging stuff. Think maybe my phone is just stuffed? I'm getting pretty frustrated with Windows Mobile :D.

Edit:
Sorry, I know this isn't the place to complain about that - but man is it frustrating. ><.

I've stopped Extendir for a while since Shadrac had become dad and I think he'll take time for his son :)

Mega's packages seems promising, but we can't use another camera packages than our old Nike's one (due to material differences).

I'm having some problems building my full rom with mega package and build 23016 or 23022, I cant boot but with the Lite Version and full version with mega and build 23009 is working smoothly.

Now I'm testing in my Nike the build 23022 but I don't think I'll upload this version since it is full of graphical bugs. Apparently they merged this branch with the 290xx.
Apart from that I'm experiencing some problems also in Opera that exists sometimes without saying nothing.

For any dutchies or other non-english Nike-users out there: this ROM together with the keyboard-cabs from BJK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426281) work great, including the languages! Where other ROMs let me only input English (Dutch wouldn't show up after installation + soft reset) or even fail to recognize hardware input at all (typing only numbers with hardware keyboard) this one works fine after installing the 16-key cab and optionally one or more of the language-cabs!
Although (at least for me) you have to install the keyboard cab(s), select it as your input method, and then soft-reset. It's important you select it as your input method before soft-reset, if you don't you'll have to soft-reset again.

I'm wondering what mega pkgs you used... as i didnt find the notifcations app and the notifications bubbles from the mega i isntalled most gui stuff (including Commmgr) on my own. Now ram ist about 65% =(

(gullum has about 40% if i remeber right and is talking about the possibility to lower it to something about 30% but his rom is overcrowded with apps most people dont need)

As you asked for "app packages" for future releases i would ask for a complete mega/manila edition with optimised ram usage, including netcf. I think further apps wouldnt be needed as everyone can install them on their own without raising the ram usage over an exaptable level...

One more time Lite version means essential packages and notifications and that kind of stuff ate no essential to work. The purpose of Lite Versions is exactly what you did, i.e install what you like instead of being tight by what other versions have.
Some Mega apps are very heavy for our nike.. its normal you get that kind of memory usage percentage.

(gullum has about 40% if i remeber right and is talking about the possibility to lower it to something about 30% but his rom is overcrowded with apps most people dont need)
It is possible depending on which services and processes are loaded in memory. You can have 100 apps but none of that apps are loaded in mem on the start.
Other possibility is that Gullum is really doing changes on the Mega stuff.

As you asked for "app packages" for future releases i would ask for a complete mega/manila edition with optimised ram usage, including netcf. I think further apps wouldnt be needed as everyone can install them on their own without raising the ram usage over an exaptable level...
Sorry, it is not in my plans to include Manila.
I'm having some problems with some mega packages and newer WM builds but it is in my plans to build a full rom (not lite) with nice stuff and tweeked titanium as today.

PS - The Mega packages by their own are heavy and including them in the ROM or installing after the result is the same... maybe if you have expirence on that you can "open" that mega apps you want and tweak some registry records to use less memory (example: avoid loading into mem unnecessary services and processes)
