Help Needed - I'm desperate!!!!

Hello,

I desperately need some help.

My girlfriend bought a HTC Touch Dual from ebay which was locked to the Orange Network in the UK. I tried to unlock the phone for her so she could use her Vodafone SIM and have made a right mess! I used an eight-step process on one of the threads on this forum and got completley lost.

Firstly, I don't really know what I'm doing, and have no idea what a 'radio', 'rom', etc is. In fact, in reading these forums I realise how out of my depth I am.

Would somebody be able to help me out. Not necesarily with unlocking, but just getting the unit back to working order - i.e. so the cameras work, the sound works, the screen responds to my taps, the wireless card works, etc...

Please remember I know nothing about these machines, so you will need to use VERY simple explanation!!

First thing you need to do before you even touch the magic dust behind the devices is put HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730) on it. (That will pretty much stop you turning it into a paper weight) Install the 1.22 version, there's a link a little bit down the first post.

Secondly you will want to CID and SIM unlock it, use THIS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945) guide. This will allow you to put other non-official ROM's on it. and will allow you to use any sim card. Follow this guide to the tee, if you lock i and cant unlock it again because you haven't followed i, you may have o pay money for someone to unlock it online.

The next parts are optional.

Choose a ROM you like, I personally use Salvy.C.83's ROM's they are quick, look pretty and retain battery well with the right radio. ROM's are pretty much the operating system (Windows) that tend to come packaged with freeware software built in.

Choose and appropriate radio for the ROM you have chosen. Different ROM's require different radios, for example Salvy's ROM require 1.65+. Radios are the low level drivers that interact and control the hardware on the phone. Audio, Bluetooth, Camera and the Cellular radio are some example of what it controls. Don't forget to check if your phone is a NIKI or a NEON, I'm not sure of the exact differences (I believe he NEON is the 20version.) Only the NIKI radios work with the NIKI and visa-versa with the NEON. To check take the battery out and there will be a big sticker with NIKI or NEON on it =]

Think that just about covers it. other than the Touch Dual doesn't have wireless connectivity, it lacks some of the hardware.

Hey you guys Im helping him right now... for some reason he gets error 264...anyone know how to fix this?

We are trying to hard spl his phone....problem is we get this error 264...

Also...are we suppose to place the hard spl 1.15 in the rom update's folder?
