Hi again all,

I am not feeling very well.

After more than a week of cursing and dissapointment I am about to give up, paint my XDA EXEC blue, throw it into the ocean and forget I ever bought it.

I have read almost every thread that reffers to my problem and I have tried everything I can but it seems that nothing is working for me...

I upgraded my CE ROM on my G4 device with the one from Luca and I was happy ever after.
Until one day, after I used the GPRS function on my phone, the device lost all radio information AND IMEI although I still got WiFi and BT.

What I have done for the past week cannot fit in this thread but I'll try to give you a rough list.

I have unlocked the extended ROM and made my device SuperCID

I have tried to flash the Radio ROM and I get error 114.

To manage to get the Radio updated I :
I tried with different Radio roms from the website (I think ALL of them)
I tried with different CE roms and all sorts of combinations with o2 Shipped ROMS as well
I tried to flash the same ROM 3 times
I tried to decode the Radio ROMS and re-encode it with my device info
I tried to run the wcecomm process before update
I entered the bootloader before the device boots and tried the upgrades
I took the battery out and restarted the phone 16 times (as I read in a thread somewhere)
I tried different operator CE ROMs
I tried different computers
Different USB cables
Different versions of Microsoft Active sync 4.1 and 4.5

but STILL ..... I can't update the Radio at all and my device shows No GSM at boot....

I googled and googled and googled.....NOTHING WORKS!

So, since I can't find any other solution, the only thing left for me to do is install the original CE rom from O2. And I guess, this is Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v113188.exe

But when I install the ROM and boot the device, the screen has a fuzzy colour and the device won't boot up. (I have attached a screenshot.)
Why .. WHY ... WHY WHYYYY???

Now Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162 works on my phone (the radio still doesn't get updated) but still .. my Radio is not recognised...

Is there anything else I can do? Can I upgrade the radio from the SD card? Or use MTTY to flash the radio?

Or shall I burn the f*cking thing and enjoy the fireworks?

Please give me some advice, I am desperate.......

Thanks for your reply man I appreciate it.

I tried task 28 but apparently it doesn't delete the Radio ROM. Only the CE and EXT ROMs.
Anyway, I did it but still, radio doesn't get updated.

The original O2 rom V1.13 gets updated but it's still a fuzzy screen.

Isn't there a way to use the an SD card to update the Radio ROM ?

And why doesn't 1.13 ROM work on my XDA?

It seems your processor are damaged, When you load something in NV RAM (specially OS) the processor still streessed. May be your processor was foulty. In the problem with radio upgrade, i think you did upgrade a wrong radio.nbf may be you used a radio upgrade from another model device:mad:

Try to put the UNI in Bootloader mode (if you can do this your ROM memory still works) then: erase all in NV RAM with MTTY, use task 28 55aa, and then load a original ROM....this work for me in a "error xxx" problems.

Hi AIN1, thanks for replying.. I really need all the help I can get.

The screen is fuzzy only when I load the speciffic o2 rom V1.13 so I don't think it's the processor. If I load **any** other ROM, the Uni boots OK but I only have WiFi and Bluetooth. No GSM.
I did not update the Radio ROM at any point! The phone was working on WM6 and my old Radio ROM until I used GPRS and then it got stuck.

Even with this strange screen, the device device still enters the BootLoader and I can still Flash the device to any other CE or EXT ROM I want.
I DID erase all the NV RAM with MTTY and reinstalled the original O2 shipped ROM (I **think** it's version 1.13 , at least thats the earliest I could find on the forum) but this is the ROM that gives me the fuzzy screen. No other ROM does it....

:eek: Partially fried? Even if all the other ROMs are working on my phone and I have BT and WiFi? From WM5 to WM6.5 no other ROM shows that screen. Hell, even the next O2 upgrade ROM works (V1.30) ok in my phone..

Oh here is another way of doing it... when you flash any other CE rom just add the radio.nbf in the package and flash it... it should flash both CE rom and radio rom.... and did you try to change the sim card to see if that's faulty or not ???:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

What I noticed, is that I have a different FAT2 size.

As you can see from the screenshot taken from the MTTY post, the guy's FAT2 size is 0x2C70000 and mine is 0x2900000.

Does that make a difference?

Yes, I did that already but when I include any Radio ROM in the update of the CE and EXT flash, the software fails on the Radio rom still..

No GSM comes when the device is booting WM6, I don't think whether the SIM is in or not would make a difference (?) [correct me if I'm wrong]

I think what he means is that when you flash the radio you should remove the SIM card before you do it. I've always seen this instruction written down. And the wiki also suggests to do a ROM update without a SD card in if you are using the tethered method.

Make sure you use the latest ROMUpgradeUt.exe available.

Also, if you tried the radio ROMs here (ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Radio/) and had no luck, I don't know what else you can try. Sorry.

I always remove the SD and the SIM before the upgrades.
Unfortunately I tried all the radio roms in the FTP folder.

I think there's not anything wrong with the ROMs themselves, it's just the fact that the RUU can not delete the older Radio ROM

Hy. I have a program named taster. If the problem still exists you could try to flash your uni with this it helped me when I couldn't flash mine. If you can't find it contact me and I'll try to upload it somewhere.(I never uploaded anything yet) It's just a simple installer but it worked for me.
