View Full Version : [ROM] Scripted Angel 6.1.20923 by RoryB

I say scripted because I have removed Autorun.exe and SDAutorun.exe to make room since these run once and never again until you hard reset.
I use MortScript (http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view&menu=29)to run my set up. This is very similar to Noonski's XDA_UC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=525810)system. I also want to thank S.V.I for getting me hooked on his work.
I also removed as many files from the \windows folder as possible. This includes moving provxml file information to the rgu file when possible. Shortcuts that just get copied from \windows to other locations have been deleted and are created by my script. This is based on the idea that the fewer files you have in \windows folder, the faster your phone runs.
Do not worry. You can still have UC. My setup MortScript parses the SDConfig.txt as if it were SDAutorun.exe with some exceptions.
It does not do LOCK, HIDE, SHOW, or RESET. I have covered CPY1/CPY2, CAB, XML, TSK, and EXEC.
Since it does not support LOCK and HIDE settings you need to move the cabs you want to allow user input to the folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Manual.
Remove them from your SDConfig.txt file. Also, if you have registry files you use to change settings after these "manual" cab install, just place them in the Manual folder too.
The parser first installs all cab files then reg files, then xml files, then tsk files, and lastly any exe and mscr files.
You will need to respond to some OK boxes to keep setup running. Others are timed to default to my preferred choice. These are things like do you want ASyncKiller to run on your phone? Do you want BlueTooth Notification Icon to run on your phone? etc.
If you want to try to control the sequence which each file in a group (CAB, REG, etc) installs try putting 00_, 01_, etc as the first characters in the file name.
If like me you have some cabs that you have installed to your sdcard you can do the following. I have a folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Zip where I place zip files of the programs files I need on the phone like the shortcuts, etc.
I also place a reg file in the folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Zip that sets the registry for the program.
The parser unzips all of the zip files to the root of your phone and then runs all of the reg files.
Your zip files should have the folder hierchy in them.
I also have the ability to not use SDConfig.txt for silent cab install. Place any cabs in the folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Silent you want installed without response required.
This parser also first installs all cab files then reg files, then xml files, then tsk files, and last any mscr files.
Some other notes.
While my script is similar to Noonski's XDA_UC, it is not the same. He is working very hard on a system that is not language or device dependent. I on the other hand have written my script for my Wizard and for WWE. My script does not support XDA_UC or XDAS files, etc.
For Mort's sake: Please do not report any errors to the MortScript Forum but to the Forum Thread of the Rom you have just Flashed. Adding other user created or your own scripts can do serious damage to your device, only use installations from a trusted or confirmed source, but the responsibility and choice to use these, is always your own. Remove your SD Card if you want to prevent other than the phone's setup.
Page Pool is what it has always been 6 MB
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY REQUESTS FOR REBOOT. Phone will automatically reboot after you pick OK on finished notice.

Nekid Angel (http://rapidshare.com/files/259225018/090723_Nekid_Angel_nk.nbf)
I took out everything I thought I could. It still has Mobile Office and it has MortScript to run my setup.

Nearly Everything Angel (http://rapidshare.com/files/259225012/090723_Full_Angel_nk.nbf)
This is very close to S.V.I's typical Angel. It has everything he has typically put in it plus MortScript to run my version of setup.
You will need to install an adobe reader program if you want to read the manual for MortScript.

This is the Angel I use.
It has the following removed:
OperaMini
SAP Settings - lets your car's bluetooth access you SIM card
1-Calc Lite - have my own calculator
Touch Response - decided I don't like the vibration
PIM Backup - I do not use this
BT Icon - I do not use this
I added:

I took my neat scripted Angel and ported 21054 stuff to it.
My understanding is that 21054 is the last WM6.1 version out here.
Let me know what you think.

dotfred's task manager is called dftaskmgr.exe to make it work with the WM version.
Fixed missing MMS, I accidentally removed the package. I managed to get Adobe Reader put in. I got weather working again.

I did not put any of the package called Browsingie in the ROM above because it is so big. I put it in this ROM http://rapidshare.com/files/284946285/Browsingie_nk.nbf, but had to remove M2D and a lot more to get it to fit.
Now the bad news. I do not know what this Browsingie ROM looks like or does different because I bricked my phone. I was trying a new CID unlock method and messed it up. I won't be able to cook any more since I cannot test to see if any of the tweaks I do work.

First, I was able to buy a lab rat from eBay to continue cooking.
I fixed up my kitchen to the latest implantxip.exe version. With this I was able to tryremove the ULDR and other things that has given me more room to fit stuff into the ROM.
This is the Browsingie version. I put back Transcriber and Adobe Reader. I also fit in Voice Command and Remote Desktop.
dotfred's task manager is called dftaskmgr.exe to avoid conflict with the WM version.
I think I have avoided the Extended_ROM problem I have seen mentioned before of battery drain if you flash a new Extended ROM. The extended ROM is still locked and hidden. I am using Extended ROM to install M2D and M2DC. The nice thing about this is you can use remove programs to get rid of them if you prefer a different home screen.
I also use zip files in the Extended ROM to hold files that just got copied over to other folders. This way there are not copies in the windows directory and now there are not even the zip files.
So if you use Extended ROM to hold files they will get overwritten by this ROM.

I have two versions of MEGA Angel.
Based on version 23 Manila2D RapidShare (http://rapidshare.com/files/351637788/MEGA_21056_M2D_ver23_nk.nbf)MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/file/lngtdwq2gmy/MEGA_21056_M2D_ver23_nk.nbf) MegaUpload (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7V9RDT0E)
Based on version 1917 Manila2D RapidShare (http://rapidshare.com/files/351637792/MEGA_21056_M2D_ver1917_nk.nbf) MediaFire (http://www.mediafire.com/file/jzqzzjhzzi3/MEGA_21056_M2D_ver1917_nk.nbf) MegaUpload (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HYSK4IWR)
version 1917 Manila2D with Extendir to see if it speeds things up RapidShare (http://rapidshare.com/files/352412895/MEGA_21056_M2D1917_Extendir_nk.nbf) MediaFire MegaUpload (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=39668GLR)
This is the older version of Extendir ver1.06 with 2MB cache
They both have everything in common except the version of Manila2D.
Both have working Album and Music tabs. Sound profiles does not work in the ver 1917 settings tabs, but I added a link to the program under \programs\tools in the start menu.
Still using Extended_ROM to fit everything. Mega is big. ROM setup takes a while as a result of so many files too.
Some things I have done:
Radio is off at the start. Reduces chance of call coming in while ROM is setting up. Turns on near the end and runs Network Wizard to set up phone service.
Took out ModemLink since it is the same as InternetShare and I doubt anyone uses the infrared method in ModemLink.
Took out Network Plugin since it requires a reboot every time you change it.
Added Total Commander for its features including the ability to have LAN and FTP connections, which replaces Network Plugin.
CommManager has nice feature. Select the text and you get the settings panel for that item. Select the on/off button and you start or stop the device.
BlueTooth settings allows start up of BlueTooth FTP and has a timeout settings for the radio.
USBtoPC is set to not be the enhanced feature setting by default.
Do not reset your phone while it is setting up. When Network Wizard says it is done and to reset, select cancel. ROM setup will reboot when it is done.
If I think of anything else I'll update.

is it still the same OS or have you updated?
RoryB

It is still the same OS. 20923
I have been avoiding the 21xxx series of ROMs since Cracing has said they have memory drain or leaking issues.
I am trying to keep the strengths of your original Angel. I have just been playing with the clean up of what is in it.

I removed debugging text messages to speed up setup.

They are OS only nk.nbf files. You can flash your Wizard however you typically flash a nbf file to it. Since they are OS only they are G3 and G4 safe.

Thanks RoryB.
I've always wanted the Nekid Angel. You had posted the source for it in your FFA thread. But I couldn't get it to compile. Too many errors and stuff.
Well, I will be installing the Nekid Angeld soon. I do not use any of the programs that you guys normally do. I just need a few small utils, which I have cabs to install.
So a big thank you for cleaning this up. Much appreciated.
A QQ -
Do I need to downgrade to install this? I have Final Final Angel installed.
Or can I just put it in soft IPL and load Nekid Angel?
RoryB
27th July 2009, 12:23 PM
You will be replacing the old Angel when you flash this one.
As far as downgrading is concerned. I have not done that for some time. I used to flash back to my original ROM and then flash a new one, but for me it does not seem to matter. I would say to just try flashing straight to your new ROM.

Guys,
I observed this in WM6.1. I've disabled threaded SMS and it does not store the SMS I sent in the sent folder. I really hate threaded SMS.
Is there a hack or way to store the sent SMS in the sent folder? I've tried a couple of things, but can not get it to work.

Guys,
I'm facing problems with Shift and Caps keys on the keyboard. Is anyone else facing this problem?
Sometimes the shift key just wont work... have to press it hard or 2-3 times to get it to work. Not such a problem with Caps key.
But yes, sometimes these two keys in combination do irritate a lot when texting someone or when trying to type numbers.

I have been out of town off and on the last week or so...so far i haven't had much problems with "Nearly Everything". I believe however I will be unloading Opera since I use weather radars alot and Opera doesn't allow animated radars. (even though it's java powered...which makes no sense) aside of that, it's a good rom. Kudos to you and SVI. Hope to see something new soon. I'm very partial to the 6.1 roms...not so much the 6.5 roms because Internet Explorer in the 6.5 roms don't cooperate with me too much. let me know what you may have coming out soon. thanks again

Added images to first page.
I am looking into Extendir to get better performance. Still having trouble getting it all to work.
Also looking at MEGA files, but they may be too big or too many files for speed.
Also looking at 21054 as what I believe is the last WM6.1, but I am having troubles with what I think is too many modules. I am still looking into what I can do. Once I get there then I have to check stability. My understanding is the 21xxx series ROMs are not a table as the 20xxx ROMs.

The neat angel is my favorite ROM ever for the wizard.
I do wish I had the standard large digital clock.
Can you tell me how to do that?
If I have to recook based on the final final angel kitchen files, I could try that.
Just please let me know.

I have never tried other M2D themes. I do not know how to change to digital clock, but my guess would be the image files for the various times. You could just replace the images like for like and see if you get the digital clock. They are in ManilaGFX folder and are most likely in this group of images from the homesettings xml <Image index="40" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_clock_bg.png" />
<Image index="41" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_alarm_on.png" />
<Image index="42" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_alarm_off.png" />
<Image index="43" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_am.png" />
<Image index="44" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_pm.png" />
<Image index="45" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_missedcall.png" />
<Image index="46" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_calendar.png" />
<Image index="47" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_colon.png" />
<Image index="48" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_0.png" />
<Image index="49" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_1.png" />
<Image index="50" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_2.png" />
<Image index="51" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_3.png" />
<Image index="52" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_4.png" />
<Image index="53" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_5.png" />
<Image index="54" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_6.png" />
<Image index="55" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_7.png" />
<Image index="56" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_8.png" />
<Image index="57" name="\ManilaGFX\hh_hm_digit_9.png" /> You might need to enable digital clock in M2DC.

that's cool :) i noticed the images. alot of ppl like to see something before they discover it on their own.
so far so good though, ur M2D by default (i guess ur settings) has the photo and music tab disabled :( i enabled them and install album but i cant get them to display pictures in the tab, i'll mess around with the audio manager later.
how about wm 6.5 ? u look like u know what ur doin, any plans on taking that one on ? from experience, i noticed that the best and most stable build is 21234
give it a shot sometimes
mega cabs are big but they work very well and very fast on wizard :)
RoryB
14th September 2009, 12:25 PM
The Graphics were created by S.V.I for his Angel ROM when he had a Wizard.
I do not use photo or music tab so I disabled them. Also, I left out the programs needed for them to have room for other things in the ROM. I think photo tab also needs albumsearcher.
There are cooks who are working very hard on WM 6.5 right now. I am not the bleeding edge kind of guy. Also, I have seen people have some problems in WM 6.5 that we do not have in 6.1 ROMs. I am shooting for more stability instead of newest. I am hoping that 21054 since it is supposedly the last 6.1 will be stable as in they are making there last version the best it can be.
Thank you for the compliment. I have only been on the board a year and really have just picked away at what I know so far. I know there are many others out there way beyond me in knowledge, but that is what is great about this forum. They share their knowledge.
Mega cabs being big is one of the reasons I am looking at things like Extendir. Also, I continue trying to figure out what else can be removed to make room.

I'm running it now. I see you removed several things, like MMS.
Do you see any advantage from the newer build? Is it faster, or otherwise better? I don't see any improvement yet.

I just flashed Neat Angel (20154 port), and it's been at the setup screen for a half hour or so now.
Is it normally supposed to take this long, or has something gone wrong?
(Except for skipping the screen alignment, I haven't rebooted.)
EDIT---
Realized the scripting starts before welcome.exe, so unless there's a way around the screen alignment without rebooting, I'm screwed.
(A tiny spot in the middle of my screen is unresponsive, so it prevents me from getting past it.)

RoryB, thank you for getting this build to work.
I've been waiting for it for quite a while, and I've tried to cook this build myself but unsuccessfully. I saw in other forums that you had similar problems, but apparently you have figured it out.
Can you post the kitchen files for this?
Also, I think you might want to refine this ROM a bit. The weather page doesn't work for me. Maybe there's a missing mortscript file or something?

Wow, that's sad news. I hate to see a cook lose his phone.
One of my two wizards recently acquired a broken screen, so I kind of know how it feels. My broken wizard is a G4 that isn't bricked. I might put it out there for parts... not sure yet.
Thanks for updating the ROM and putting out the kitchen files. I'll try out the Browsingie thing, whatever that is, and the other ROM too. Do you want to see screen snapshots?
A suggestion: I find that many of the apps that only run on demand can be installed safely on the MiniSD. Perhaps we could have a folder of cabs to accompany the ROM, and install the cabs on the MiniSD (or internal) on cold-boot. That would let us have a full-featured system even when it doesn't all fit in the ROM.

The IE is a bit different, but I don't see anything significantly different from what the other ROM of this build has. It identifies itself as IE6, but I don't remember what the other ones identified as. Definitely this is not the WM6.5 IE, it's just slightly different from the older Wm6.1. In fact, the original ROM you made with this build may have had the same IE.
I haven't tried the one with M2D. I got hooked on the "super clean" Browsingie one. I installed the newer Mega M2D and then installed my usual bag of tricks (Pandora, Palringo, S2P, etc) and the things you had deleted, to external storage. Sorry you couldn't see it -- you made a very nice clean ROM that is stable and fast.

Thanks for the recipe. Everything is working great but the Music Tab. Stuck on searching. Saw somewhere to delete the AppData...->HTC->Audio Manager folder contents as a fix but that folder does not exist on my Wizard. Tried launching Audio Manager via the Start menu but that yields the audiomanager is not a valid app error. Any ideas. I tried a reinstall but same issue.

I'll try the recipe again from scratch.
I posted based on memory of what I did so I might have missed something.
When I first installed the M2D the music tab didnt work, I remember that.
Edit: I edited the recipe to use the correct version of Audio Manager.
Apparently Audio Manager's version has to match Manila2's version.

It's not the cooked ROM breaking the BT it's the physical hardware :-(. All the other radios have worked fine but for some reason the BT started going a year ago regardless of the ROM, stock or otherwise. Someday it'll will be replaced but It's still got some life in it until then.

I finally got another Wizard from eBay. This one is a G3. I already unlocked it.
Now, to brush off the cobwebs and get back to what I was trying to do.
It will be a little while, but I discovered my kitchen had the old implantxip. So,
1) I am updating my kitchen.
2) I will see what ULDR minimizing does.
3) I think I have Ext_ROM settings figured out so I can include one in my ROM to hold cab files for what I cannot fit in the newer ROMs.
4) I am still looking at Extendir as a way to speed up our Wizard.
5) I am going to look at the results of the WMRegOptimizer to see what I could change in my cooked settings to improve the ROM for everyone.
Work is hectic so it might be a few weeks before I can get my next ROM out.

How did you modified manila 2d? How did you removed htc album and htc audio manager from it? And also how did you changed the theme?
S.V.I did the work back under his Angel ROM. He reduced image sizes, reworked the HomeSettings.xml to reference folder \windows\ManilaGFX for many of the images, and used the same image for several uses. This was his effort to reduce the size of the manila package and its impact on the number of files in windows folder.
HTC Album and Audio Manager packages were excluded from the ROM during cooking.
S.V.I created the images that is the Angel theme.
Note: because of the GFX folder you have to be careful how you change to other themes in order to get back to original. I do not change themes so I am not the best source for how.
P.S. I am working on a port of 21056 with MEGA packages. I think I will be able to have Album and Audio working in this new version of Angel. . . coming soon.

Makes me think not all of the set up completed. I do not have my phone handy, but I do not think it will have that much memory free. Please try hard reset to see if it goes through all of the set up. It should reset itself when done. Stuck on tap is probably because the files from Extended_ROM for M2D did not get installed into \windows.

Thanks for your answer.
I use your Neat Angel with Ext. ROM Bld.21054 ROM M2D V23 but maybe with
your very clean Nekid Angel with 32.16 MB Program memory will be better.
I don't know procedures for ROM cooking, not sure if need to use something called OEM's instead of cabs.
The following guides are for the cab install of M2D 2.0 Bld 1432
First:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4732815&postcount=1469
This guide created by aestivalisakito thanks to him.
(Don't use the camera, Audio Booster from the package they do not work on Wizard.
Facebook and Opera are optional, but only on the mem card, not enough space for them in internal memory.)
Plus, I wrote this one as a complement on another ROM, and please excuse me for the newbie language:
First, look close to the end of this guide and download the GFX 2DManila 2.0.19191432.Patched.cab. This is an optimized M2D cab for non HTC devices.
Our Wizard is a little old and behaves for the M2D 2.0 install like a non HTC device. Download the install package and substitute this patched one for the regular one in the package.
Dshow cab will not install, the workaround is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nz2wihmy5ig

Delete this Key with a Reg editor or your free memory will be consumed by the Deblogger files.

For the weather on the Home tab there is a fix here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1265
(Edit: may not need this if the Weather on the Home tab autoupdates by itself. On the Omnia never a cab install will have working the autoupdating
geolocation weather on the Home tab, but all cooked ROM's have it working.
On the Wizard using the cabs, never had work for me.)
Forgot to mention not to install Album and Audiomanager
from the M2D 2.0 file package because they do not work as is.
They need additional procedures to work that I am not familiar with.
Use Album 2.0 or Album 2.5, Audiomanager 2.0 and Google Maps to main memory.
This worked for me, the only non working items are autoupdate Home tab weather and change background on settings.
Will be slow to start up and will need to overclock to at least 264 Mhz not more than 276 Mhz.
Please note that M2DC is not fully compatible with M2D 2.0. Do not try to
add more lines or rows in Programs tab. You will not be able to see the name
of the program in the shortcut.
For themes, do not use old themes, they will
mess up your Home tab, use new themes created for M2D 2.0 from here

Please, can you post the list of Mega Packages you used for your Mega version
of M2D v23 and M2D 2.0 bld. 1917?
Cyberdyne has a version of his ROM for the Wizard already with M2D 2.0 bld.1432 (on German), going to download and test if the geolocation autoupdate
for the weather on the Home tab works for his ROM.
Thanks.

"Copy DShow zip file to your phone and unzip to \Windows directory. Also you will have to import registry settings from reg file included in same zip."

Will reflash back to Neat Angel w Ext ROM bld 21054, and apply the

The latest 1917 Mega-Angel is sweet. Fast and pretty.
The most usable port of this M2D version that I've seen so far.
Alas, I have some problems with it, so I am using the Tech TeamUp Mega-Wizard more than Mega-Angel.
I think that some or perhaps all of these issues are unique to me, not problems with the rom itself.
1) I can't run it on my G4, no matter what I try. My G4 is the better phone - the G3 I bought real cheap from EBay last year; it eats batteries too fast and has a scratched screen. Others can run this on G4, so this is my problem.
2) Won't run the latest Google Maps. This may be a rom problem. There's an easy solution, though. I use an older version which works fine.
Bottom line, I recommend this rom. It doesn't work well for me, but that's not the rom's fault.

In my previous message I said that I couldn't use this rom.
The real deal-breaker for me was that Exchange synchronization didn't work for email. It worked for contacts, calendar, and tasks, but not for messages. I tried for four days to get it to work, with no success. Finally I gave up and wrote up the brief report. Then I picked up the phone and prepared to switch my SIM card to my other phone, and noticed that all of my exchange email was synchronized. It must have been a problem with the server.
Now that email is working for me, I can put up with an older Google Maps and stay close to a charger. I really like this ROM.
(My G3 has some hardware problem that makes it discharge batteries. Even when shut completely off, it discharges faster than my G4 when running. I bought the G3 cheap as a "lab rat", so battery life hasn't mattered before.)

@n2rjt (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=895681) Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you were able to have it work on both a G3 and a G4 device.
I will try to install the latest Google Maps to see if it works for me. Can you confirm version number and describe what problems you ran in to?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have not been able to get M2D 1919 to work (see previous notes).
While I wait for feedback from iandy on which specific cabs he installed and if the screen slide features worked for him, I am looking into other things.
dotfred's StartMenu (service instead of app): took out QuickMenu, but did not see a reduction in RAM being used.
xTask: seems nice. Does not have hibernate feature I could find, but used Oxios. Closes M2D out of the blue. Will read the thread to see if there is a fix.
Both of these are an attempt to increase free RAM. Extendir talks about changing pagepool, so I may try that too.

yo man I wanted to say i've been using the final angel for months now without even a flash at all. I thought I just had an old batter (mines original like 4yrs old now) had the super battery drain like most others so I bought a new battery but that didn't help. Sad this new rom (1917 mega-angel) is just to slow for these device, to the point of being not useable. My two cents are focus on functionality not looks in my opinion, just not usable when it lags 1-2 seconds between button presses. It also has the screen position switch back to portrait and timeout back to deskstop (never fixed?) when in a program/text. Almost dude, but no cigar, im going back to the old one, its much faster and looks basically the same. peace

They are all stable to me. Unless you are using Extendir-ized cabs, etc. for your UC, I suggest you use the non-Extendir version so you can install overwriting cabs without trouble if you prefer a different version of a cooked in program.

This is very close to S.V.I's typical Angel. It has everything he has typically put in it plus MortScript to run my version of setup.
You will need to install an adobe reader program if you want to read the manual for MortScript.
Right after flash without running my User Customization.
Storage 40.83 MB free
Program 26.52 MB free

I am looking at Cracing's WM6.5 ROM from his last posted kitchen contents. I am not sure it is 6.5.3, but I need to learn what is different from 6.1 to 6.5 to 6.5.x. I ask for patience. I think there are other 6.5.x ROM creators out there maybe.

yes, there are other 6.5.x rom creators, but your roms are built for speed, that's why i like them. no pressure.
RoryB
20th April 2010, 03:29 PM
That is why I am so slow. I need to understand as much as I can what goes on in the ROM to see what can be removed/tweaked.
I have concentrated on 6.1 for now, but am starting to look at 6.5 ROMs.
I do think because of the overhead in 6.5.x we will have to be Extendir-ized to get acceptable performance. Probably have to use Extended ROM to fit everything in too.

BoryB, i have small question.. how much RAM is used by ExtendedDir?
RoryB
20th April 2010, 10:39 PM
It is still a work in progress. There is a version 1.06 that had a 2MB cache which reduced the RAM some, but other things I did seem to help keep the RAM up near 18 to 20MB. I have been testing the beta version for a while so I do not remember the exact numbers.
