WM6.5 available (external)

Hi guys

But I have no idea how to download the roms, neither how to apply them to the lobby one - any help @ that will be appreciated

And by the way - that forum is doing some pretty good stuff about the monet, it'd be nice if we could post the most essential stuff from there (with permission of coruse)

I've downloaded the latest 6.5 rom from htc365 and can confirm that it works in English with no obvious problems.

First install USPL by following the instructions in this post. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2684651&postcount=1)

Then extract one of the zip files below and run ROMUpdateUtility.

When first installed, the language will be set to Chinese. To change to English, move to the settings icon (cog) and press the right soft-button. Then press 0, then 2, then right to select 'US English' and finally the left soft-button to save. You'll need to restart the phone to apply the setting.

The clean version does not include the DAB radio software whereas the integrated version has it in Chinese. To get the radio app I copied the 'TTP' folder within 'Program Files' on my wm5 lobster over to wm6.5 and it runs fine. See below for download.

I have only tried the 'Clean' version of the rom.

Issues so far:

Settings icon on home screen has some Chinese text
Activsync fails to synchronise contacts
Calender display shows months text incorrectly

I should point out that the 'incorrect calendar display' issue was merely my incompetence - by default it displays Lunar months, but this can easily be switched off.

I still haven't managed to get activesync to synchronise contacts but pim backup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1189061&postcount=1) worked well enough.

The time taken to start windows is a little annoying, there seem to be 3 or 4 different splash screens now.

How did you revert to the original wm5?
That's the only thing stopping me from flashing that 6.5 :D

when i got the 6.1 rom i got the wm5 rom with it, flashed it the same way as i did wm6.1 and wm6.5

i still miss the T9 tho :(

Many thanks spasmj, I also updated to the clean version and it gives my Lobster a whole new lease of life.

I was hoping to get a newer version of TomTom on it was well - but I gave up and went back to V5.2 (newer versions seem to want a have touch/stylus driven initially - but followed some advise about a particular V7 that is supposed to support keypad - but it wouldn't install).

Also a good tip to get rid of the Chinese on the front screen on Settings is to move to another home screen (I went to Sliding Panel Full).

Also anyone know who to get rid of the Chinese Mail account, I have added my Gmail but can't delete the Chinese one - minor annoyance.

I'm not sure how you'd do that. I don't know how the tv button works in the original wm5 rom. Does anyone know?
I imagine writing a small program to run in the background and wait for that button press wouldn't be too hard.

But ques for spasmj - (after updating to 6.5 rom - cheers) I copied the TTP folder to program files on the lobster but when launching the app (DABplayer or DABlauncher) I get nothing - I click to do a scan and nothing on the DAB radio - not even a failure to scan - it just sits there. It does create the TV and Radio folder. Do you have to have your original Virgin sim in? I have unlocked mine so now on o2. My original sim I got with the lobster was never used so I presume it was disabled as it doesn't work - but tried another Virgin PAYG sim and nothing on DAB radio.

After quitting I also seem to have a TV & Radio.Ink shortcut in the recent programs that fails?

Thanks, must be due to signal strength then - I'll have to try in a different location, maybe the weather....but always seemed to work OK at home before I did the update (but I haven't used the DAB on the Lobster for a long time).

Had two collegues who have the Lobster (still on winmo5) and their DAB's work fine but mine still won't work :-( I have tried their aerials/headphones, I have even copied their TTP and TV and Radio foilders over but still get nothing. If I click Tune Channels, their phones bring up a status bar - mine does nothing - does the status bar still appear on your updated lobsters?

I'm thinking perhaps my DAB is broke or the ROM hasn't applied quite right? Everything else if fine.

I also still get the TV and Radio.ink (empty graphic) come up in the recent files after I have launched the dabplayer app - but can't work out where this is pointing.

almost 4 and a half years on and my Monet's battery is giving up, a good time to go android so i waiting for my new HTC Wildfire to ship :)

my monet/lobster700 will still stick around if needed, unless someone is in need of one with a full working DAB and WM6.5 rom on it.

I've also re-uploaded the UK DAB files, again using the same url as before.

I use a Lobster with the 6.5 clean ROM installed and DAB is still working perfectly. The TV/Radio button does not start the software though. I suspect that if I'd installed the integrated version then that button would work. Unfortunately I don't seem to have kept any other 6.5 ROMs other than the 'clean' version.

Bad news i'm afraid, it was actually one of the other WM6.5 ROMS :(

I still have a couple of old disks to look through so I may yet find it. Also, I still have a couple of WM5 Lobsters and will try and figure out how get the ROM from one of those.
