I'm going to be reinstalling Androkkid after I've just done a hard-reset which wipes the device drive. I'll install it to device and watch closely. No one has ever seen simo in real life. He could very well be an android with a wicked sense of humor trying to drive you mad, insane. We just don't know anything about this droid, other than he says "bye" a lot.

I noticed you were also asking about the cab/zip versions, and I thought I'd add that I installed .8 with the cab and installed it to my storage card the first time when I saw the screen lock. I've thought about doing the hard reset myself and re-installing it just to get a screen shot... but I really don't want to re-install everything again since I just did it when I replaced my phone within the last couple weeks. ;(

I've thought about doing the hard reset myself and re-installing it just to get a screen shot... but I really don't want to re-install everything again since I just did it when I replaced my phone within the last couple weeks. ;(

I used the .CAB installation for v 1.0.0, installed to storage card.
Result: I did not see any unlock pulldown action, BUT: turns out it wasn't a "virgin" experience so it does not recreate the circumstances. I had an androkkid exe file somewhere nested in my storage card, so a settings file got read somewhere and the new install. Thus, upon launching the app for first time since having wiped my device drive with hard reset, after the loading wait, what appeared was a prior layout of the Hero theme which I had used before.

Sorry, I spoiled the experiment...

But... I also had a crash experience. After I ran the settings app to change some settings, after exiting the androkkid app started up automatically, but after a short load time it crashed with an error messages. I clicked for "more details" but I can't remember why now, but I could not get any further details.

Now this could be coincidence, or teacher may be right that installing via unzip, vs via cab produces a better result. I'm no programmer, but that sure doesn't sound right, unless the .cab install process writes to registry... but I suppose if it shows up in the "Remove programs" list, windows has to know it was installed -- so it probably IS slightly dfferent.

[ TRIVIA QUIZ for Simo fans ] Who was it who first objected to simo's switch in the ifonz application method from a .cab install to this "unzip it anywhere" concept? And then shamed simo into providing a .cab version the next time out?

Is this person to blame for crash problems?

That would be that suspicious Quicksite character that we know nothing about. Maybe he is an avatar of Simo?
Is this person to blame for crash problems?
Ofcourse he is, shameless cabpusher!
Seriously I agree with you quicksite apps should come with a standardized install method, but I'm very happy to get both so those of us who prefer to use the zip version can continue doing that.

Not really complicated, just the standard procedure for a shortcut to any application in Androkkid.

The advantage of PQz_key.exe is that you can create shortcuts to other functions also such as the DPad Left and Right keys to move the Androkkid screen one page left or right if you don't have 'finger gestures' available.

Guess i'll be using your solution, the LockandOff.exe seems a lil bit dangerous (?).:p
Thanks for your reply!:D

Looks like there is a bug in the Nextappointment widget.
The date in the header of a recurring appointment is not the date of the next appointment, but the date of the first occurence....

This bug harassed me for a long while.

The option is there. But, if you turn the option menu on, none of the choices work. If you leave your contacts without the options, tapping will dial properly. Since the option menu was introduced relatively recently, I'm sure it's something Simo wants in there & intends to correct. in one of the next versions.

I'm sure it's something Simo wants in there & intends to correct. in one of the next versions.

But we also know him to be a practical joker, and it would be just like that guy to suggest a new feature -- then snatch it away -- just to toy with people. I question whether simo is actually a humanoid. We have zero evidence of it.

.

well just in case someone read this seriously, i was just practicing my typing on touchscreen, and needed amusement. please, carry on as though this never happened.

1688K(1.6MB) RAM used by androkkid here

for a shortcut to settings, use the included settings.exe(in the androkkid\utils folder) or make a shortcut to the exe in the attached zip(looks better on wm 6.5.1 but appears to be made for QVGA)

for shortcuts to folders just grab a shortcut to the file explorer and add the location of the folder you want to link to in the parameters field(only works for actual folders, so linking to the settings folder in the start menu gives you an empty folder)

timed here, androkkid takes 5 seconds to start from the moment i tap the androkkid shortcut(so fast it often skips the androkkid loading screen)
running WM6.5.1 (eugenia rom 1.01 full for HTC diamond)

anyone have this for VGA?

Is this just a Today screen replacer with some program launcher. Or is it like SPB with photo contacts. An a new calls screen, favorite contacts with pictures.

Now, for the serious answer. Androkkid gives the WM user an Android-like UI, including scrolling wallpaper. Much of what it does is based on the fact that you can have multiple pages, designed the way you want them to be -- clocks, weather widgets, appointment widgets, contacts, shortcuts, etc. Whatever combinations you want. Like Android, much of the functionality is via widgets, but you can use shortcuts to WM apps, URL links, contact links, folders of any combinations of these, etc. Right now, you can manually add a picture to each contact by changing the icon, but not having tried it, I don't know how well they'd display.

I've tried a number of UIs, including several variations of TouchFlo, SPB, Pointui & Motosurf. And I keep coming back to Androkkid. Your experience with it is only limited by what wallpapers you have, the available widgets & your own creativity. Give Androkkid a try.

Is there a way to lock page layout in place? In normal use, there's usually no issue. But, once in awhile, if I swipe the wrong way, a shortcut ends up on a different page, maybe with the related app already open. Sometimes, that's my own klutziness & sometimes my Tilt2 wakens as I'm removing from the case, with my finger opening the app & moving the icon. It'd be great to have some kind of design lock -- unlock to intentionally move things around, lock to keep them in place after you've decided where you want things. Much easier than trying to move an icon back to it's own page & position from hanging off the edge of another page.

Are the bottom buttons (the ones on either side of the program menu) supposed to do anything in the current version? On my Sprint Touch Pro running NFSFan's WinMo 6.5 b14, they do not respond to anything.

Also, is a snap-to-grid feature planned for a future release? It would make laying out icons much easier.

Now i'm making this new features:

- Changed in Battery Widget "In charging" with "Charging" and update the velocity of Charging
- Saved the last directory used for links, icons etc... and use it when click buttons to choose a file
- Make Type buttons to Minimize, Go To Home, Go to Next page, Go to Prev Page, Go to Settings(Androkkid)

If anyone have a request write me here.

Could you make the animation, when opening an item from Androkkid, optional? On my device (HTC Touch Diamond) the seems to slow down opening applications and for some applications (like opening Thumbcal or the Wifi toggler) it has no use.

As requested here are my requests

1 please make a text on/off switch in the settings for both the battery and line operator

2 make pages locked for editing by default with lock unlock switch in left or right button menu's

3 icon snapping needs a little tweaking, not sure what but for me I would like to be able to position icons within 1 pixel of the left or right hand side of a page

4 skinable all programs slider

5 when in up position have the left and right buttons on all programs slider access settings and maybe connections submenus

6 as has been mentioned a built in lock to eliminate the need for S2U2 would be awesome. In my mind I see the all programs slider at the top of the screen either blank or with a clock only which when slid downwards revealed Androkkid 1.1

wow that turned into a bigger list than I thought, sorry :o

1. Ok i add in next release 2 new widget without the text
2. I add a setting to lock/unlock edit for all pages in the main menu
3. You can change the grid size to move the icons to 1 pixel
4. The All programs slider is skinnable in theme directory you can change graphic or create a new theme
5. I dont understand!!!!
6. The lock functionality is a problematic feature, in .NET i dont know how can block all keys in the device.

have tried advise for 3 but on both left and right sides as soon as you get to within a few pixels the icon either slides to next screen or disappears on release to appear on the next screen

re 5 a lot of people have asked for the wm settings to be available from within androkkid, to me the logical place for these to be displayed would be on the slide up screen as either the left or right button.

re 6 perhaps someone else can provide some insight

thanks for the replies and for this great UI

I've downloaded your last version of this software.

Is this normal?

I have added the Public Sub ScrollWidget(ByVal ScrollY As Integer) to my Weather widget, but there is no reaction when I try to scroll down on the widget. I added the following to the scroll function:MsgBox(ScrollY.ToString)but it never gets called. What do I need to do different?

Also in my weather widget, I have a details panel that is larger than the original widget. I noticed that any clicks on the widget, only takes into the account the original size of the widget, not the larger panel. Is there any way to capture those clicks on the newly sized widget?

Thanks for the great program! (donation on the way...)

Since it was requested, here is a suggestion for development. I would like to see a container widget (in Tk, it's called a frame). Actually it would be similar to the Folder widget, except it could be resized and would always stay open. It would make a way to visually group icons and widgets together and be able to move or copy them across pages, or just move them on the same screen easily. When I develop GUIs in Tcl/Tk, I generally put all widgets in frames and I suspect I would put the vast majority of the Androkkid icons and widgets in such frames.

Of course, I have no idea how hard it would be to develop this... ... but I think it would make a good addition.

That's where the icon itself is animated when clicked. The one I mean is the black expanding box to full screen size before opening the application. They don't seem to be linked.

1. really the best UI I found so far
2. runs allmost without problems
3. less memory usage than original HTC UI
4. love flexibility (i.e. different page for picture phone book for private/company contacts)

Today encountered my first problem: I changed program location of Opera to Internal Storage and now none of my Icons referring to webpages (definded as type URL) are working. Drag your MSG icon to Edit and then find the file tmail.exe using the Link which you should find under Windows somewhere. You can locate it first doing a search with a file manager, then direct the Link setting to it.

NOW, set type to All Messages to test it. It should indicate the number of ANY messages received: Phone, SMS and Email.

If this works, then go back and set type to Voice-mail.

Hi,

1. it´s an "Overlay", it works as an application, you can close Androkkid and WM is still running.
2. I don´t think so. In the TaskManager it shows 0% CPU Usage. IMHO, the Battery life is not shorter.
3. Yes, You can make settings to run in Fullscreen without the Windows Taskbar. (See some Screenshots which are posted here)

Hope this helps,

Unfortunately it doesn’t work. I can't see an option to set the type to All Messages. I'm using Androkkid v 1.0.0.0. Is that the difference?

If I start tmail.exe I also see the number of unread SMS and eMail messages only.

Is there a possibility that Androkkid is reading the wrong registry or sim-memory value? If so, how can I change that?

can u tell me, how to do the buttons down there, especially the one with the SMS, which shows you, that u've got mail? I really can't read all the 82 pages, and I don't know how to search it right..

simo,

I was wondering if you'd be able to include the letter p in the list of acceptable characters for a phone number? The reason I ask this is because I also use Google Voice, which when I call them, they immediately ask for my pin, well, what I had planned to do was include the phone number followed by p twice for pause, and then the pin, so when I dial this contact it automatically puts my pin in for me.

Thanks.

I've tried to get Androkkid to run on my Samsung Omnia i910. I can get the program to run but if I try to add a program it waits for a while, then crashes the app.

I have done a hardware reset on my phone, installed the latest .net and it still crashes. Anyone get this to work with a i910?

Assumin you have selected the correct link, drag the icon to the Edit button and select the kind of program (see screenshot). If you select ie "Mail" with whatever icon you like and point to the correct link the icon will show the unread messages (or SMS, or appointments..)

Could you tell us where we can find the Links for unread sms and missed call:D.

Just select the type of the shortcut from normal to e.g. SMS ;-)

something very strange happened today...

I don't think this has anything to do with Androkkid... but I'm very confused right now. Today I tried to load my browser (Iris) and it told me it wouldn't load because either it was unsigned or a file was missing... so I tried to reboot my phone thinking that it would work fine after this. Wrong. When the phone boots back up it says the same thing about Androkkid, and I quickly realized that my entire 'Program Files' folder on my storage card is empty. Although this upsets me greatly because I finally had it all set up the way I liked it, I was ok with the idea of setting it all up again. Here's where the current problem comes into play. I've cleared out all of the other Androkkid settings, folders, and basically anything I could find, and then attempted to re-install it. That's when I get the dreaded message again: The file cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.

Anybody have any idea what happened?

Like I mentioned above... I don't care that I have to re-do everything. That's fine. But I'd like to prevent this from happening ever again. Oh, and of course I'd like to get Androkkid running again, but I'll probably just be backing up all of my stuff tonight and hard resetting it if I don't come up with something else soon.

Thanks!

update:

I've hard reset my phone and began re-installing programs to the storage card. All worked fine except for Androkkid, which still raised the same 'no certificate or files missing' error that I mentioned earlier. A short time later I rebooted the phone after installing a different program, and when it booted back up the Program Files folder on my Storage Card was empty again. Someone, Anyone, please help! lol.

At any rate at least now I have more motivation to save up the money for the Hero.

These new Icons should work better for those of you who have like me found the standard winmo icon ugly and pixelated.
I have always thought that some of the IPhone's attraction was the beautiful icons that were uniform in size and shape. So I made my own for Ifonz (based on other people's graphic work). When Androkkid came along I loved the scenic wallpapers you could use but I thought the beautiful scenery of the wallpapers became too cluttered with the IPhone style icons and that the square icons ruined the effect of the beautiful wallpapers.
So these new icons are designed to preserve a uniform style and at the same time be better integrated into the "scenery" by using transparency.
I hope that some of you will have a look at these and tell me what you think
PS If you resize these, they will not work. If they are resized by Androkkid they are fine.
If you want to use these and need other icons, ask me on the themes Thread and I'll see what I can do.
Lots of screenshots posted on themes page:

Thx for the words:)
You have to partly redraw these icons when you resize them, so it is very timeconsuming to make a set in another size. if you just resize them with a graphic program, transparancy is lost
Because it is a lot of work to make these it might take some time before I make them into 128x128 but I plan to do it eventually. If more people ask me about this size I might speed it up a little.

They look GREAT! I will have to test for my usages on QVGA screen, when I use Androkkid's width and height scaling to make them 42x42... Based on my use of other transparent icons, scaling down sometimes makes certain icons unreadable. But hats off to you for a nice approach to bringing some uniformity to finger-tap zones of transparent icons.

I am finding the latest carrier wars in the USA between Verizon and AT&T to be humorous... especially since one of the selling points they are fighting over is: Which network and phones provide true multi-tasking?

It's laughable -- if not for Microsoft's being so behind the curve now with their mobile OS -- that HTC touchscreen phones 4 and 5 years ago running Windows Mobile had almost all the features it took Apple 3 generations of phones to catch up to: MMS, shooting video, voice command, handwriting recognition, tethering, etc.

But the really amazing thing is that still, with my 4-year old crappy slow processor with minimal RAM, running WM with a custom XDA ROM, an efficient shell & app launcher like Androkkid, I can quite comfortably click tabs between the following applications all open and running at the same time:

1. Androkkid shell...
2. play music via Nitrogen in the background
3. Have my SMS app open and active
4. My Opera Mini browser open looking at my Gmail
5. my iContact application open
6. my Notes application open
7. Google Maps open
8. and in some cases in addition I can also have a second browser running, Netfront, or my photo editing app open as well.

I run WKtask and so I can tap the tabs in the top taskbar to switch between apps with just a tap... with no fake-multitasking of quickly closing down one app and opening the next.

Now, sadly, WindowsMobile took too long to respond to the world post-iphone, and they blew it catastrophically missing this critical end of year season of 2009 which is defining the players of the future. Their stopgap of 6.5 is not nearly enough to keep users from adopting the new Android phones from HTC, and the droid from Motorola. Apple will almost surely have a new more-varied and refreshed UI next year (my prediction), but will keep the familiar iphone UI and dub it "iPhone Classic" to keep customers happy.

Palm Pre made its splash, and has been well-received, but I think it is getting lost in the mindshare battles of Christmas season 2009, and is likely seen right now as "that older phone from 6 months ago"... I doubt it will end up with a high percentage of Christmas sales.

There is no doubt in my mind that by February (or March), when MS *finally* launches WM 7, it will be a remarkably good UI and user experience, building off of the Zune HD... and if marketed really well, will fight its way back into the game. But I think it's a big gamble. It may well be too much too late, as Feb rolls around with no doubt a new iPhone, and even more Android phones from even more phone manufacturers, running version 2.0 of HTC's Sense UI, and Motorola's add-on UI, etc.

I don't see WM 7 being a game changer, no matter how good it is (again, I think it will be very good). I think it will fall inot place as being what MS should have had this year, and thus it will be seen as merely catching up.

Anyway, since this became a commentary post, I will put my screenshots in the next post. But the real story here is the celebration of Androkkid -- finally the UI environment and app launcher that makes Windows Mobile finger friendly and updated with its Android-like widgets approach. Really great work from simo!

Here are a few shots of how I've got Androkkid set up on my old T-Mobile Wing -- WVGA. I'm also using refined registry entries for all menus and drop-downs for finger friendly size menus, along with QuickMenu for the cascading menus. I used this last night driving across the Oakland Bay Bridge to San Francisco, California, USA, set up on a dashboard mount... Google Maps and its built-in simulated GPS worked beautifully... Readability of all functions was great. Response-time in launching apps could be better, but overall, while I was driving the new temporary "S-CURVE" connecting the current bridge with parts of the new bridge (a place where a large 10-wheel truck missed the curve and dove off the side of the bridge), I could finger-tap the Google Maps app from the Androkkid home screen, and have it launch and show me where i was relative to this danger-spot... and it all worked beautifully.

To me, that's the test of an interface -- does it let you do what you need to do VISUALLY-QUICKLY, and get the job done. Androkkid for sure surpasses iFonz...

1. You can click-through the whole 20-slide screenshot series here (http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u210/quicksite/XDA/?):

2. Or watch it as a slideshow here (http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u210/quicksite/XDA/?albumview=slideshow).

And here are a few sample shots:

** Note: Despite my high value placed on visual communication and function differentiation, I nevertheless have mixed & matched my icons -- and have not cared about their mismatches in style sometimes... caring more than anything: Does the visual make it bullet-proof clear what the function is under that icon?

Sadly, this is close to the end of the line for me. I wanted to get my Windows Mobile device optimized... but I now have an HTC Hero running Android, which I have not even put into use yet. I'll be making a long overdue series of videos on my windows mobile device re UI tweeks, and also a video on how to flash a ROM, step by step, in close-up detail. Then I will become a stranger in this neck of the woods.

Great job simo, and the widget makers! They all work so well.

Simo do you have a better (bigger) Androkkid graphic so I can make an icon for Androkkid and maybe one for Ifonz too in the transparant frames series?
(I use both programs at the same time, just switch between them with WK Tasks, that's so cool)
For Androkkid I mean the one with the chicken in the egg, and for Ifonz the one with the htc phone with Ifonz on the screen.

When you see these transparant icons slide across the scenery in androkkid, and you can see the scenery through the icon, it looks really good (well, that's my opinion anyway), you should see it.

I'm sorry to see that it doesn't work out for you. We'd be glad to have you onboard. I hope you try the new version that came out today. Be sure to uninstall everything Androkkid you have installed in advance. My suggestion is to use the zip not the cab install. It shouldn't matter where you put it on the phone. I can run multiple versions of Ifonz and Androkkid simultaneously from anywhere on my computer. I hope you do have .Net 3.5 not earlier or later versions. Hope that it work out for you in the end.
Maybe you should try a settings.ini file from somebody else just to see what happens. You would get a shitload of dead links but that can be dealt with afterwards as long as we could get it going.

Thank you for the new version, I love that you are able to lock the screen when you have configured it to be exactly how you want it. the new taskbar I haven't had the time to test good enough yet.

Just found a minor bug with this version. The 'Lock Pages' works fine but the setting is not saved. If you lock the pages, when you exit Androkkid and load it again, or go into Settings, the pages are unlocked again.

You would get a shitload of dead links but that can be dealt with afterwards as long as we could get it going.

thanks for the response, would anyone share a setting.ini for VGA?

etc....

I dont have a WM device now and i cant emulate these hardware in emulator.

When i have a complete list of bug i release a new version with all fixed bugs.

Slight bug. If you show the Androkkid taskbar, everything on the page shifts up. On my first page, I have the Hero clock. The Androkkid taskbar overlaps the top of that, whether I have the WM taskbar showing or not. Without the Androkkid taskbar, there is some shift, but everything displays properly.

Also, only the "X" & the menu button seem to function. Everything else seems to be display only. Is that the way it's working for now or is it a bug?

The top bar is setted over the layer of background and icons and the old icons remain behind it.

It isnt a bug, the top bar show only the info state of device, only minimize and close working if you click on it.

The top bar is still not working for me :-( Wizard/8125 QVGA. I installed by renaming my old directory to Androkkid100. Then copied the unzip folders from my PC to \ProgramFiles. I tried again with my old settings.ini file. I see all my widgets, but no top bar or graphics for the bottom launcher. I was able to get the launcher to slide up, but the icons and graphics are not showing (it just hid my widgets).

Curious to see how this looks, can someone post some new screenshots??? :-)

I just noticed another problem that I have had occasionally... after Androkkid crashes, my topbar/startmenu is not clickable. Also seems to be blocking my two top hard buttons (messages and IE). Weird....

There seems to be another issue with 1.2. I installed it last night, had it on the charger till 7am this morning. It's now 1:40 pm & my battery is down to 60% with only a couple of brief calls & 3 text messages. The locking feature is on. Normally, with the amount of activity I've had, I'd be through two full days to get to 20%. It looks like I'll see that by bedtime tonight, after coming off the charger this morning.

I don't get it. I recently (a month ago) flashed a winmo 6.5 rom this could maybe have something to do with it:confused:

WM 6.5 is supposed to be much better at power management. So, yes, the ROM flash could have made a big difference. My Treo Pro has WM 6.1. The stock 1500mah battery won't usually make it through a full day. My Tilt2 has WM 6.5 & also a 1500mah battery. Until today, moderate to heavy use still got me 1.5 to 2 days on a charge.

There's an alternative menu app I tried that I ended up uninstalling because it only worked off the Win button, but not "Start" on the task bar. It didn't fully restore the previous state. So, I'm not sure if it's that, Androkkid or some combination of the two. Or possibly something altogether different. I've been trying a number of Titanium themes & plugins, lately. So there could be a combination of things. The battery drain showed up only after installing 1.2 from cab So, if Androkkid is part or all of my problem & I don't mention it, the problem never gets fixed. If it turns out to be something else & the 1.2 installation is coincidental to the issue, then I need to share that info, as well, so we all learn. I might just have to do a hard reset & rebuild with my needed apps & Androkkid to see if that makes a difference. :( But I don't see that happening till after work on Saturday.

As ITesla explained, I too, share the same problem. If Androkkid locks up, it seems to somehow keep it's grip on the Start Menu bar, so even though you can see it, you can't click it. I discovered something else strange as well. I created a shortcut to /windows/start menu/office/tasks.lnk, and setup Androkkid to display pending tasks. When I click on my tasks icon, Androkkid says the tasks.lnk file doesn't exist, but then it launches it anyhow, this a bug? I do have my Tasks..lnk in an unconventional location (windows/start/office). Any ideas?

I can confirm the same thing about the lnk files. The reason is the path in a lnk file. If you try one with only an exe file in it, it will start but than androkkid says that this file doesn't exist. If you write one with the absolute path to the exe file it will start without errors.

I don't seem to be having the same issue today. And I think I know what the problem may be, although it wasn't one in the past. I have a side case for my Tilt2, with a magnetic closure. There's a known bug in the phone that strong enough magnets coming close to certain parts of the phone would continually wake the screen, draining battery life. In the past, that only was an issue momentarily if I slid the phone forward as I removed it from the case. Today I'm using my Seidio holster (no magnets) &, after 4 hours, I'm still at 90%. So, I'll test the topbar setting, but I'll still check if there's an issue with the side case magnet. There is a registry edit for that. ;)

Haven't noticed any extra battery drain on my Fuze. Seems pretty stable to me in that regards. I have noticed one thing, though, and that's a lag, going from between the last page, to the first page when swiping. Any way that can be smoothed out? Works the same going from the first page to the last page as well. I've also noticed pages with a lot of shortcuts seem to lag a little as well. Can this be optimized somehow?

One other idea as well. I am using WMDAgenda, and it doesn't load until you swipe to that page. Is there a way that all the widgets could load when Androkkid boots up?

Thanks, this thing is great!

It's constantly crashing when I start the program(have posted some screens in earlier posts, but to no avail) and in this new version there seems a very annoying bug:
I can't open my messages anymore. Everytime I tap on the icon (whether it is in the menu or on the page) i get the error that the path doesn't exist (this is only if the program is already running, if my messages aren't open, i can open it)...
Nevertheless, have had a lot of fun configurating this app, but it's not stable enough for permanent use for me (using samsung Omnia).

greetz

EDIT: noticed the problem was already noticed and indeed it's also an ink file..
For the top bar: since you replace the windows top bar with the androkkid bar, it doesn't respond anymore and for me only the hardware buttons worked after crash, so no touchscreen function at all...

the cab is fine however.

1 little advice: maybe you should add a little filecheck.
if a skin is missing a file, load it from the standard folder.
right now if you don't update a custom skin when installing an updated version of androkkid it will result in a crash.

Nice. Tried the taskbar a little. But I prefer the fact that the WM taskbar actually functions, even though the Androkkid taskbar looks better. Maybe I'm unusual, but I really do use those taskbar shortcuts. :p And the WM taskbar doesn't overlap my layout in any way.

As for the battery issue, that appears to be related to the Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2 magnet bug. The nonmagnetic holster left me with 50% battery life left, after a very quiet day -- about normal. Sorry for the false alarm. I guess I get to decide if I want to get a nonmagnetic side case or use the registry patch.

First thing I'd like to thank you for this cool little app :)
I fiddled around with it on my Leo (HD2) and at first it crashed whenever I added a widget.
After reading the crash report I changed my device's region from "Hebrew" to "English (United Kingdoms)" and performed a soft reset and the application worked as described.
Just checked and with the Widgets enabled and the device set back to "Hebrew" the application crashes immediately after loading giving a non-debugger .net3.5 error message.
------------------EDIT---------------------------
Issue resolved: HD2s ship with .NetCF2.0. The language extender (Eyron) conflicted with a manually installed .NetCF3.5 because it only "knew" .NetCF2.0.
Removing Eyron completely then reinstalling solved the conflict.
PM me if you still need the crash report/screenshot.

Hi Simo,

I agree with kraski. The Androkkid taskbar looks really good and I like the functionality a lot; but it does overlap with the layout of my pages.

I am not sure if this can be done, but as suggestion, can you change the Androkkid task bar to be a widget. That way, we can put it on certain screens only, or change the location of the task bar or we can resize it to meet our needs.

It is merely a suggestion, but I think it would be useful. Thank you.

Hi Simo,

I have a bit of a request. You already have it setup so that the user can customize the color of the fonts. The problem, I just discovered, is that the color of the font in the notification bubbles cannot be changed. I was working on the Paper Theme I developed and created a custom bubble notification, but because the background was light in color, you couldn't see the numbers that should be there. Know what I mean?

Thanks ,

I never got a response for a request I mentioned previously so I thought it may have been looked over and missed so here goes again... and if this cant be done just let me know and I'll stop asking. ;)

I was wondering if the letter p could be added to the list of acceptable characters found in a phone number. The reason I ask is because I use Google Voice, which after I call them they request me to put in my 4 digit code. With the use of p (for a pause) I can put the phone number followed by 2 p's and then the pin, and then when I call them I'll be signed in automatically.

Thanks simo, Great app.. I'll continue using it all the way up until I get my Hero. ;)

no bugs so far.

just one question: how do I use the folders?
I add a new icon, after that I edit it, set the type folder but in the dialog for selecting the folder I can only pick a file. If I pick a file a get an error message (something about converting null to Integer).

Tips and tricks: If you don't want to use iContact or another contacts app, I discovered I can use a nice app called go2contract to have multiple options for contacts.
I create a new contract shortcut, setting any number to call.
After this, I edit the shortcut:
- type normal
- link: gotocontact.exe
- parameters: "Will Smith" (the name of the contract in quotes).
Save. This way I will have also the image of the contact.

When I click the contact, it will open the windows mobile contract page, where I can send sms, call a different number (mobile, work, car..etc), send email..

Thanks simo, Great app.. I'll continue using it all the way up until I get my Hero. ;)

I think one thing you can do if you use iContact is to create the Google Voice number as a contact and use iContact to create a shortcut. An icon will appear in programs, and then you can place that in Androkkid. I remember icontact as being able to handle the letter p.

Another member here suggested using "go2contract" and that might work too. But if you are running iContact, then you should be able to create shortcut/icon without any problems.

Hi Simo. Not sure if this is specific to 1.2.1.0 or not, but the background you see when you tap "Programs" doesn't stretch all the way across the screen. The graphic used there is a 20 x 20 png - BoxListBack.png. The bottom bar stretches all the way across, so it looks funny when the back drop doesn't. Anyone else experience this? I checked several different themes including the Standard and Hero one, all do this.

Thanks,

Any chance you can recompile this to use .Net 2.0 instead of .Net 3.5? My ROM contains the .Net 2.0 runtime, and I can't figure out a way of installing .Net 3.5 without burning a new ROM, which I would prefer not to do.

Thanks for a great theme!

instead of page balls is there any way to display what page you're currently on more like the Hero? I'm sure you know what I mean already since you have one but I'm attaching a screen shot with the area marked showing the middle screen for anyone else who may not know what I mean.

The problem there is the difficult resolution problems that presents for QVGA users. I don't know how Simo approaches his development, but I am guessing he does believe in the core value of "graceful degradation" for lesser resolution screens.

I know this from both sides of the fence: (1) I have Androkkid on my older T-Mobile Wing, QVGA, and it looks great, but of course the curve of the rounded grey bar at the bottom is very pixellated and jagged, simply because there are not enough pixels to make it smoother looking. ... and

(2) I now have the HTC Hero and so I have the exact interface Simo's hero theme is more or less emulating or representing.

I have a suggestion which I am going to make on a comment below, but it boils down to this: I think users need to give a little in their tweeking expectations, particularly when it comes to graphic placements. These developers work their asses off, doing it for free, and they don't HAVE to -- but the best developers try very hard to accommodate all screen sizes and resolutions. You can imagine how difficult that is, with about 5 screen size and resolutions now. (see my suggestion below)

I just think requests like the above are beyond the bounds of what one should ask a developer to do here. That's custom software for one person, and I think it really is going beyond the bounds of what is reasonable to request without paying for your specialized need.

I think it is fine for people to openly make whatever requests they want, but I have also seen far too many times where the squeaky wheel of one persistent person with a specialized need clogs up the forward progress of the app for everyone else. (NOTE: I am not referring to this request specifically, because it's just been asked once. But others have asked repeatedly for very single-user customized changes.)

I think special request tweeks should be made with donation money attached: And I mean paying for the time it takes the developer to set aside his core development, to try to please a more specialized need.

If Simo disgarees with the comments I have made here, then I will respectfully delete them and "mind my own business"...

Hi teach... I'm not sure what you mean re burnlea's system. I read what he/she said about using adjacent space and keeping it transparent so as to provide a wider physical target for fingers... And I also understand that burnlea has been very diligently working with transparency, and that concept of using an icon as a Page Label...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=252516&d=1259787581

But I do not see how that addresses the issue of an alternate visual display system to let you know where, contextually, you are along the spectrum of pages you have, i.e. page 2 of 3, or page 4 of 7, etc ... some other scheme than white balls... ??

I understood the earlier poster's request for a slicker-looking page indicator method, so there is no visual juxtaposition of the "page balls" and the bottom-center icons. My comment to him was focused on the clarity issue of using the actual HERO "SenseUI"'s scheme, which is more elegant than the page balls, but which would render quite poorly on QVGA screens.

Personally, as a usability designer, I have always been happy with the page-ball concept, even when first used by Simo on ifonz v 1... because they unmistakably provide not just a page number, but a visual context for how many pages there are. The improvement NOW with Androkkid is that Simo has made them appear upon beginning a slide action, vs having them a constant display... which removes all visual interruption.

To me, there are certain interface display schemes that have become "default", and for good reason -- because they communicate effectively. An exmaple would be with Forum Pages within a thread. Let me just hammer this point home with an extreme example:

Here's a thread that has grown to a page length of 141 pages:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=3

Suppose I happen to be on page 3. Well the default methodology, pretty much now universally accepted as standard navigation system with context cues, looks like this:

< (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=2) 1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111)2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=2) 3 4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=4)5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=5)13 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=13) 53 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=53) 103 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=103) > (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=4) Last » (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111&page=141)

For an advertising or graphic presentation site, we most often see a similar interface, but presented also with a center slide or video frame, and left and right arrow buttons, or graphics that say

< Previous Page |............. image .............| Next Page >

My "argument" is that it is a highly efficient, universally understood interface scheme that is very hard for someone to misinterpret "WHERE AM I?" within the context of ALL AVAILABLE PAGES.

Maybe you were talking apples to oranges? (I think so; just alternate ways of LABELING the page contents)

The most efficient & most compact shapes for displaying a context scheme would be squares, and then circles. Squares render better with lower resolution screens, obviously.

It's pretty hard to mess up understanding where you are:
■■■■■■■

even smaller:
■■■■■■■

But Circles have a little more "white space" around each place-point, making them, arguably, just a little bit easier to read at small sizes.

●●●●●●●

●●●●●●●

/off my soapbox ... poor Simo, he already can't stand my long posts since he has to translate in head to Italian. Now he's got symbols too. But that's the point... He doesn't have to read one word to understand what this is all about, just from the numerical and shape displays.

Well I recently cut mine way back from 32 pages down to 17. I like having certain widgets on a page all of their own.

hah hah, just kidding.

I have 5, which I think is simo's current limit?

But the issue here isn't page numbering or getting lost. My long-winded answer was not about that. It was about a simple request -- and a reasonable request -- someone made upthread, asking Simo if he could use the page location display used on the actual HTC Hero... It places marks along the curve above the grey programs bar along the bottom.

But this is not a trivial issue. People here are tech savvy. Mainstream people are easily confused with new devices. Go to any T-Mobile store -- listen to how they sell the new Motorola CLIQ, or the myTouch... They make a big deal out of the fact that one of them expanded beyond the standard Android config of 3 (or is it 5?) pages, and "this one has 7" ....

My Hero phone has 7 and I can tell you I would like more than 7, why? because SenseUI is really a variation, in many ways, of TouchFlo 3d --- so, see the number of tabs Touchflo 3D has -- there's a whole page for web, a whole page for music, a whole page forge for photos, for Messaging, for Contacts, Footprints, etc. And the concept of sliding across pages to get to content Categories, vs just an array of icons (like Simo's original iFonz had), is more and more common. Now there are separate pages for twitter client, a separate page for integrated social networking...

So, are you counting? Do you see those fitting on 4 pages?

The phone paradigm has chnaged, and with it, the most current trend is layout your smart phone exactly as you like it. So the idea of page context is not so stupid afterall, is it? :)

Onto the "soapbox" "The phone paradigm" has changed indeed, I read somewhere that in Japan mobiles are taking over more and more of what they used to do with computers, and that traditional computers are selling less and less. What we are talking about here on the pages of xda is not phones or handsets but the true meaning of the acronym pda: A personal digital assistant. This to use a cliche is the next step in human evolution. We can't achieve bodily superpowers yet, but with our "assistant" in hand we have "all human knowlledge" with us at all times, we have a direction finder better than any compass ever made. We are on the human grid like no humans have ever been before us
Usability it follows is alpha and omega of what we try to achieve. Your personal assistant can only ever be as good as it able to do it's thing userfriendly, quickly and efficiently.
I saw a sci-fi film on Tv as a teenager and the protagonist had a "Little Brother" with him at all times. It helped him with everything from directions to remembering when his mother birthday was. He talked to his assistant and though I understood at once that this was less than practical in all situations, I just knew there and then that this was going to come my way one fine day. This was back in the day when dinosaurs walked the earth and nobody even had cells.
So when I got my first pda a wallaby(see pic below) I was extremely happy and everybody else laughed their silly heads off from the sheer size of the thing. This was at the time when the coolest thing ever, was to have a cell the size of a box of matches. I knew then that I would have the last laugh, and just look at the direction we have moved now, this year I showed my old wallaby to some of my students and more than 10 of them wanted to buy it from me( it's about 10 years old for gods sake). I mostly wear a coat at work and my present htc x7510 with a 5 inch screen fits snugly in my inner pocket, It could have been twice the size and still have fit there.(I wish it was.
At the moment I "only" have 12 pages on androkkid 1.2.1 and quite a few more on ifonz and and androkkid 1.2.0 and 1.0.0 which I all run simultaneously for testing purposes. But this is only because I have been so busy with graphic learning and iconmaking. I'll have at least 10 more pages in the near future.
You just got to love what Simo has made here
In such an environment it certainly makes sense to group your apps like for instance browsers on one page and social apps on anothers and maybe to have page numbers on the pages (see screenshot below)
This was what I wanted to point out when I pointed to pagebuttons or if you want pagenumbers in burnleas obsidian theme.
Notice that I never use icon texts I find them silly. It your personal phone and if you use icons that are easy to "get" you really don't need to read Microsoft Word mobile underneath a blue "W" You know what the blue W or the green "X" is for, texts just clutter up the screen needlessly.
Getting off the soapbox now, sorry to be so longwinded but I learn from the best(you quicksite)

In retrospect I hadn't thought about the fact that the Hero indicator bar would not be very good when more than 7 screens are used since it would indeed be difficult to tell which page you're on. I currently have the page balls turned off, and I was ok with that... I just thought it would be a nice suggestion that he might be able to accomplish. I too use a QVGA device so I know what you mean about the jagged edge on the bottom curved bar but that never really bothered me, and if the page balls were made into the Hero type indicator I still dont think I would be bothered by this.

Sorry if I sounded inconsiderate in my post asking for things... like I mentioned I wasn't even thinking of this for myself since Im happy with the indicator being gone completely. I just thought it would be a nice enhancement in the future.

I agree that donations should accompany requests, a great idea... ;)

I'm probably an anomaly here at XDA, but I love thinking like this, which speaks to the end games, the utilization of these devices and the instant access they bring us. Bravo for pulling your thoughts together on this. My bet is that if you polled XDA readers, 98% would probably vote "That shit doesn't belong on XDA... this is a hackers' site, not about crap like human evolution or philosophy"
with 2% applauding and advancing the dialogue. I don't think I'm exaggerating.

But it's okay with me. Yours is the first post I have read in 5 years, other than my own, which has dealt with the capabilities brought to hand by these PDAs, smartphones, touchscreen computers. While it may be out of place on XDA from a popularity standpoint, i totally appreciate its content here.

Last night I donated to Wikipedia -- they are doing their end of year drive for donations to help operate the largest worlwide collaborative documentation of "everything we know" ever seen by mankind. I had ignored the earlier banner ads showing their targeted goal and how much they've raised. What pushed me over the edge was the personal message from the founder of wikipedia. I'm just learning the value of twitter (alltogether different from a rather useless "what are you doing now?"). It is now, to me, one of the greatest disseminators and incubators for crowd-sourced knowledge. The best usage I see is the collaborative filtering of really interesting stuff, article wise, event wise, opinion wise -- with the world's people all as potential curators.

Of that aggegate 2% of people that I guestimate is the total interest on subjects like these from XDA members, only a sliver of that number will ever read this post, or yours. But for those who do: I urge you to support wikipedia -- if you can -- because ultimately, the sum power of what these handheld devices provide us as people is way more than merely the joy of seeing animated weather, or accessing maps, or sending SMS messages.

What I tweeted last night from my little personal assistant device: Inspiring: Wik personal stories from around world: http://tr.im/Wstories | Who? http://tr.im/Wdonors | Donate here: http://tr.im/Wdonate

That is the truth. I still don't know if he is human, or just a subroutine who ends messages with "bye" which he/it claims to write at the start of each message, but a fantastic developer who's enabled Windows Mobile to be capable of doing way more than even the iphone can right now. I hope that people who use Androkkid, and have not yet donated, can make a small donation today -- This kind of work deserves our support.

And teacher, i'm with you all the way re the redundancy and visual clutter created by text names of apps under their corresponding icons. If the icon can't make it clear what it is, it is a failure as a piece of communication. So says me.

Good point but for your average daily use, you use mostly the same few apps, and then if you look for an app you can just temporarily turn on the icon texts, so I still feel that I'm better off without the text cluttering up my screen for normal usage

I have taken the lead to move along an idea that, turns out, someone posted about in March 2008: the idea of having recognition awards for outstanding achievement in app & rom & skin development at XDA. Now that Android has so rapidly matured to become a major competitive platform to Windows Mobile, iPhone, RIM, the mobile phone app culture has exploded. As such, it's time, I feel, to recognize great achievements here at XDA -- and not next year, but this year.

in your case that game is to blame for not complying with the rules.
games aren't supposed to be installed in the startmenu, only shortcuts and readme files are supposed to go there.

no, no, no,

i did it more like this:

it's possible to do it yourself.
many of the settings are dealt with by separate applications in your windows folder.

example: i wanted an easy to access the battery[sic] meter.
i looked for the power management app in[sic] the windows folder, and copied a shortcut to it into the programs subfolder under the startmenu folder.
i then reloaded the app list in androkkid and now it has a shortcut to the power management settings which i can also place on the desktop.

not installing anything into games.

I noticed I had to use file explorer because 'paste shortcut' exists where it doesn't in Total Commander.
There may be some knowledge I need here to make my life easier...who knows.

Anyway, I've been running androkkid through its paces for a while now. 8)

Still dig it.

This was sent to me in a private message:
can you tell me how to take a icon off a page. I have a htc touch pro T-mobile. I just started useing ANDROIDKKID YESTERDAY
To jesus253: In order to post to the forums, you click on the "Post reply" button. That way everyone can see your message and respond. Private messages shouldn't really be used unless noone else will have any interest in it.

As for the answer: I'm not currently using Androkkid, but from what I remember, if you drag the icon down to the right, the color will turn red and you can delete the icon. But I'm not sure that's the way it works in the newest version, so maybe someone else can answer.

Indeed, just hold onto the icon and slide it to the bottom right. You'll get prompted to delete is, click yes and you're all done :)
You can also edit and move icons that way...
Maybe next time you should look at the videos that were made (c youtube...) where you can find the basis possibilities... Much easier and less time-consuming. :)

Simo,

I have encountered an error that I don't remember reading anyone else encountering.

If I add a new icon, it has the icon type "normal." If later I change the type to "folder" Androkkid crashes and the Androkkid settings file is changed so that all the icons settings are gone.

I did this twice to confirm this error and both time it crashed and the settings are resetted. Fortunately, I kept a copy of my settings file.

If anyone else seen this please let the forum know and perhaps Simo can look into it. But as precaution, keep a copy of your settings file!!!

I have also experienced the very same effect, but like you, I keep a backup of settings.ini, so was able to recover. What puzzles me is that it not only initialises settings.ini but also the settings.ini.bak file

I placed a contact on the main screen, when I tap on it a box appears on the screen asking if I want to call, send SMS, or MMS, when I tap on call nothing else happens and the dialog box disappears. I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2, any ideas?

same problem here,
wm 6.1, japanese version

too bad, the rest is very nice.

It sounds like you aren't running the latest version of Androkkid as v1.2.1.0 no longer has the Call/SMS/MMS option for contacts because it didn't function, as you have found out:)

ok so this is an awesome app. i have now finished reading all 96 pages. I have battery issues. when i run androkkid my battery drains fast. if i open it in the morning my battery is dead by 2pm. If i don't open it i am at 50% by 11pm. i am not using the androkkid top bar. and i do not have a magnetic phone pouch (2 issues i read about in the 96 pages).

any ideas of something i can change to save my battery. I havent heard many battery complaints. but i am pretty sure it is androkkid bc with it on my battery drains and with it off my battery doesnt drain as fast.

i have the verizon HTC xv6975 (imagio) wm6.5 which is notoriously bad on battery already.

thanks for any help.

I think I know the issue, Chumpster. With 96 pages of stuff, I'm not going to go searching for the precise message. IIRC, Simo indicated, when 1.20 first came out, that there was only one icon usable for folders & Androkkid would have issues if you tried to change the icon. This sounds like you reversed the process, but experienced the same issue.

I remember reading something about that, but I could not find it (so thanks for confirming it). This may just be something where the user has to be careful. But since it resets the settings file, my post may be should be taken as a warning or a precaution to make a backup of the settings file.

Is there any known battery consumtion issues with version 1.2.1?

I installed it last night (Used iFonz 2 previously) and during this morning (full charge at start of day) its gone down quite quickly. I've been charging it via USB and it seemed to charge slower than usual, closed Androkkid and its charging properly speed now.

Any settings / options which are known to case issues?

I've seen others mention the same thing. The usual responses are from people not experiencing the problem. In my case, I saw a change after adding a widget. The next day, after recharging, everything seemed to be back to normal. But there are enough people asking that there may be battery life issues with particular phones & I'm sure Simo is looking into it.

OK. I like the interface - a lot.
Actually would love to replace the today screen with it.

One major problem though. How do I access the settings? All I have are the programs. Where are the settings? like: phone settings, data connections, input etc. ?

Would love to have answer to that.

There is an executable that will open up the settings. See this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581480)

You can add a new icon and link it to this executable. Hope this helps.

Two final request for ssj5trunks's before I am happy to contribute.

Is there any more you can do to improve the smoothness of the graphics when deployed? I have recently looked at both PointUI Home and ThrottleLauncher and both of these have much improved graphics.

This does not appear to be down to the graphics used as I have tried unsuccessfully to implement them in to androkkid. When I have attempted this myself what I have ended up with is a pink fringe to any image used.

The second related request is for the ability to implement levels of transparency for panel backgrounds.

Many thanks and happy new year

Question - for the all programmes button. is there anyway to hide folders/subfolders. For example stuff i want to be in the full / normal start menu, but not particllary want to use often / clutter up the androkkid menu.

For example atm, it even shows a license.txt from a subfolder.

I don't think its possible to hide anything in the Programs folder. Best solution is to 'copy' those items that you use regularly from the programs folder to a new page. You do this by first making sure you have 'Unlocked Pages', then add a new page. Next, tap on 'Programs' and then tap and hold on the program icon you want on the new page. A copy of that program shortcut can then be 'dropped' on the new page.

Hi,

I already loved "Ifonz 2" (apart from its new ugly "out of date!" banner)...

Androkkid is a great improvement, yet most page menus (~all of them apart from "insert folders") cause a direct crash on my samsung omnia... Which means that in order to make it work, I had no other choice than converting the "old" "Ifonz 2" "settings.dat" to the new "settings.ini" (which is ok for icons, but I would need the syntax for adding widgets or hyperlinks)

So, hope you can find a fix to this issue... and would love (please), in the meanwhile, to use Ifonz 2 again (but without the banner) ^^

Unless it's SPB Mobile Shell or some flavor of TouchFlo, I'm not sure BIG! is necessarily the word to use. Those positives you mention also fit Pointui 2 & Androkkid, both of which have very active communities with themes & add-ons, & very loyal fans. It looks like Infinity is headed in that direction, as well. And it has some of the nice touches I'd expect from Ageye (I paid for three of their four paid apps, I'm a fan). But I'm not about to call any of them BIG!, just yet. But I'll guarantee one thing: given a few more widgets & themes & there'll be happy users of three very nice UIs. :)

I am loving Androkkid (1.2.1.0) on my iPAQ rx5900 Travel Companion (WM5, QVGA). I have made my donation. And read all 982 posts :-)

I have added a folder icon and filled it with several games shortcuts.

The folder uses the default WM folder icon, and as far as I know, there is no way of changing the folder icon to one that would represent "Games". I do not use text titles for my icons because the titles are either too big or unreadable on my QVGA screen.

So I think it would be a great improvement to allow the folder-type shortcut to use an appropriate icon to identify the shortcuts it contains.

What do you think?

If I turn on the Androkkid Top Bar, the bar as well as the bottom buttons flash on/off about once a second. Very distracting, to say the least!

You actually can change the folder to an icon that you chose. It is actually a roundabout method of doing this.

1. Add the folder icon.
2. Drag the folder icon to the edit.
3. on the "Type" pull down, change it to "Normal"; after you do this, the "Image" line should no longer be grey-out. You should be able to point it to any icon you have saved on your device.
4. After you selected the image, change the "Type" pull down back to folder, hit "ok" and you are done.:)

Keep this in mind. You have to start this with a folder icon -> normal icon -> folder icon.

DO NOT start with normal icon -> folder icon!!! This will cause Androkkid to crash and resets your setting.ini file (I learned this the hard way)

And as a precaution, I would make a copy of the setting.ini file so that all the work put in to arrange the Androkkid is not lost.

Hope that helps.

I ran into this behavior as well; the Androkkid task bar flashes on/off. I never found a solution for it, but since I still had the windows top bar, having the androkkid task bar took up too much real estate on my screen. I decided not to use it. So I don't have a solution for you.:(

But, all of the function on the Androkkid task bar can be done either through the existing widgets or icons types in Androkkid.

I think this is a bug that no one else has noticed as most people are using one of the clock widgets with the built in calendar. If you select Calendar type when you edit the new icon's settings, it should work, but doesn't. Hopefully Simo will see this and produce an update

Hey Wmd, I have a couple requests for RegInfo.

1. If you click the text in the widget, it says something like "WMDRegInfo - Weather, HKLM\Software\Goraps..." which I assume is some sort of debugging info? Anyway to make clicking this give the same action as clicking the icon?
2. A new idea, but perhaps a new setting, in conjunction with the exe settings, perhaps a reg setting to launch apps? For instance, the RSS script I made drops a URL to each article in the registry, it would be cool then if you clicked the icon or text it could load whatever file was specified at a registry location. Since in RegInfo, for an exe you can alternatively just type in a web address (I tried and this works!), this would make it a great rotating RSS feed widget as well that also loads the articles, without too much extra work :)

@wmd Scratch my second request. Could you make it possible, instead to pass arguments when specifying an exe? I found an alternative using MortScript for my second request above, but it requires passing arguments which don't seem to work right now...

Hi qkzoo.

1. this was intended, so you can see what's the source of your information. No problem for me to make it clickable and do the same action as for an icon (if one is defined)
2. exe's support parameters. Just seperate the exe and it's parameters by a semicolon (";") (e.g. exe14=\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe;-details -2147483647)
