Thanks to Josh for Kitchen and too many other people to mention.
I know there is a lot of newer builds out but this for me has been the most stable so I have switched back. Some system files etc are used from newer builds.
Most apps are from the HTC Mega cabs that were released recently and the new Manilla 2.0. I loaded this one up a bit but the phone is definatly usable and so far I really like it. I had problems getting the music tab to work right so I took it out for right now.

Nice. Hurry up man. This is a big want. :D
Oh, just out of curiousity, do you think you can try Microsoft Voice Command with this build? It's an essential that I've been wondering if it will work with any of these new builds?
Thanks.

Hi
How many RAM memory is there after soft-reset?
around 15-16mb
Mnementh666
4th August 2009, 05:18 AM
Downloaded, installed. Had to hard-reset after first install, but after that, it ran pretty good. Very pretty!
Everything seemed to work like a charm, except I couldn't get my BT earpiece working, probably due to my own stupidity. GPS module paired good, however.
Notifications are handled a little weird, couldn't get the notification to pull up to be actioned on.
SMS/MMS worked really nice.
Overall, I'd recommend it. It's not up my alley, as I prefer more RAM available, and the honeycomb makes me cringe, but that's IMHO. :D

Thoughts so far:
I like it, clean, fast, stable.
My only 2 complaints, which are very minor:
The volume can only be accessed by the settings tab from Manilla, took me a couple times to figure that out.
Second the press and hold on the buttons isn't there. I usually map that to flashlight.

The only way to access that is when your in a phone call. Its a trade off having the notification enchancements.
Next version I can make a 3g and 2 g :)

Correct that was a trade off for the notification enhancement but I figure how many places is it really needed ya know? ;)
I'll fix that next version :)

Ooh. This looks like a really promising rom. I'm interested in using it on my Hermes, but I have a very picky request. Is there any way you could offer a version with the default WM6.5 start button/battery/all of that next time around? If not it's okay, I just like the single-color cleanness of the default. Thanks!

What is it you're installing? I never have the touch flo relanching even when running apps etc. Actually I'm impressed at how well manilla 2d runs so far. You could always change your pagepool to 4mb for a bit more memory. I have done this also but I'm at 6pp right now.

You sure its not your server or something? All is good with my exchange server..
For those having problems with touch flo crashing what is your memory at when this happens? My best guess is its running out of memory.

Found a small hitch, MrDSL.
On the Manilla2D interface, when you switch to the text messaging part, it doesn't automatically add new messages.
I've found i've had to scroll upwards with the 'scroll button' on the side of the phone to enable it to update.
Other than that, it's fine as of yet :)

just a quick question here but whats the difference in the different sizes of page pools.
+ Que PPC
5th August 2009, 11:25 PM
The pagepool is like the Virtual memory: when your Desktop PC says virtual memory at minimum!! close some apps.
More pagepool = Speedy OS and Apps works better, example... the new IE 6 need 15MB PP to fully work!!!
Less Pagepool = more RAM so you can have more tasks oppened at same time...

But it comes with v5 already and it works very well..why replace it?
Normally that error means the background is gone. try changing the theme or adding a wallpaper as a today background.

Hi. Thank you for your work--it is greatly appreciated. Not sure if anyone else is having these problems but I thought I'd report them just in case.
- The latest version of Skyfire doesn't seem to work. Even after turning off ToucFLO Skyfire crashes immediately after the "connecting" screen.
- If you have more than one item on the agenda for the day then the text of upcoming appointments overlap each other.
Thanks again.

Any word on when the 3g dialer version is expected? The fantastic comments have convinced me that m2d deserves a 2nd chance.
I managed to kick the constant flashing habit, (not as bad as it sounds :D), a few months back, but this is tempting me to test the water again.

I'm not sure what dialer you're referring to but if you give me a link I can take a look at it.
The one I use that I know works is below.

really? Which one, because everytime I try to install it, it doesn't work and it installs it on the phone rather than my sd card.
To my knowledge the only way VC can be installed is to the phone. So the SD card wont be an option. I'll have to look and see what version I have but if you do a search there are many newer version floating around and I havent noticed any problems with them.

I must agree. The rom is very beautiful and works well. I have a few questions. I've never used a manilla rom before so please don't hate.
-
1. How do change the 24 hour clock on the first screen?
2. Where is the beautiful background you are using saved?
3. What problems are you having with build 23017 that makes you want to change it?

1. I dunno why it does this as the time format is not set to military. just go into regional settings and click a different format and then change it right back and it will change.
2. Its under the \windows folder called hh_background or something ill have to look for it.
3. It just randomly freezes and I havent figured out why..it doesnt hard reset but you have to turn it off and back on for it to become active again..really weird. theres nothing special in 23017 really anyway.
as far as builds 23022 and up theres a major change in the grahpics and stuff so a lot of stuff doesnt work so i havent used it..

Yeah I reboot and it's been fine for the last hour or 2. I am noticing it is somewhat slow typing text messages and speaking on the phone at the same time. I don't believe that's the build; most likely the fact I usually have less than 7mb of program memory on this rom. This may be the reason I don't use it.
Once I put on MSVoice Command and all the other programs I enjoy the program memory takes a major hit and we know that causes problems in how well the rom works no matter how well it is built. As of now I am not capable of multitasking at all and I feel like I'm using an Iphone (just kidding).
What I would like to know is what programs actually take up space in the program memory when they are not in use and how I can eliminate that issue.

Downloaded V2 couple of days ago and so far it's been quite ok. I did reset the dopod a few times when the system hanged with certain softwares that i've installed later. I've also rset the pagepool to 4mb for smoother response.
I'll say that you need to include HTC's connection wizard into the rom the next time to auto configure MMS settings. Off course, you could also download it via device update which should be cooked in also as well.
With this rom, my dopod still have round 15mb left upon boot and is still pretty much stable for some surfing on the net. I'd say it's the best so far for the touchflo2d with 6.5 on our memory strapped ageing dopod.
You could also gain a few more precious megabytes of ram if you can cook it without the honeycomb found with 6.5. That will be great !
Good work and i trully enjoyed your cooking ! :D

Maybe I can find an ATT carrier settings cab around somewhere. Or a connection setup cab... Clicked on some video files taken with another rom on my storage card but it wont launch the video app. But I think you are right that M2D uses too much memory and slows it down. I can tell when changing to different apps that the screens do not pop-up as quick as titanium roms. I also tried to get BJIVE to work with the latest fixes but no success. I though it might be the sqlce3.0 or netcfg3.5 but still not working.

it's not m2d using up all of the memory, it's the lock screen and start menu. it would be much faster if those were removed and replaced with quickmenu. as it is now with only a little bit of wifi use (exchange sync, check facebook) i'm down to 4.65mb free ram, with quickmenu roms it would still be 21-22mb free.
not to discredit Mr.DSL's work, but it is possible to have M2D and some speed

* the touchflo home screen data does not scroll even when configured to do so in the Advanced Config... so if I have multiple items on my calendar for that day it all ends up overwriting itself
* more generally is there a way to configure this touchflo home screen, what items show up on it ?

just fyi taking your rom and installing the utak3r quick menu cab nets around 19mb at boot.
deleting all of the files relating to chome and bronzers (all the titanium files) and cooking quickmenu in in place of honeycomb should get you around 25-26mb on boot with M2D.
personally i like the finger-friendlyness of honeycomb but giving it up for ~10mb extra ram is hard to say no.

I don't include M2D for a couple reason. The main one being it doesn't work correctly with this new Manilla and the other if it did its always better to have it installed on a storage card. Have you ever saw the size of some of the themes? It takes up ALOT of space!!
The other things you mentioned I believe are fixed in the newer version.

The only problem with Manilla and wm6.5 is there just isn't alot of memory left over. I'm working on a 23420 ROM right now though whih is pretty nice.

The newer slide to unlock that most 6.5 roms come out with. Nobody has been able to extract it seperately or anything either sorry.

Thanks im glad you like it. I have actually moved away from Manilla just because it uses so much memory but I have to admit I do really like the new manilla with the weather on the today screen.

The keyboard issue was actually a problem in 23017 sys so it would require another build.
I don't really think there has been any fixes for that Manilla version unfortunately :(

Please flash OEM Stripped AT&T first before you flash this ROM.

Got tired of Mobile Shell 3.5.x and 6.1 lol. I'm flashing 23017 3G right now. This looks really good though, can't wait to mess around with it. Sounds like installing quick menu right off the bat is the way to go, if I want to be able to actually multitask with my 8525. Them's the brakes with m2d.:) Thanks for all the hard work!
Edit: So I love the ROM so far, but is there any way to make the clock standard 12-hour format? I have the regional settings as h:mm:ss, but it's still military time. Do I have to replace the png files? Also in the settings tab on M2D, the All Settings button doesn't work, and freezes the phone when I touch it. Sometimes it will unfreeze after a couple minutes, but sometimes I have to soft reset.

Did you flash a stock ROM before this one? Thats usually why it freezes.
You can change the time from military but you have to go into the regional settings and change it to military then go all the way out...go back in and change it to standard and it should work.

I did indeed. But is the att stripped on your page the same as the one on TAI's release thread? Does it make a difference? Because I used the one I downloaded when I was trying out his ROM last week.

Thanks, I'll try that. Appreciate the reply. Great ROM!

Changing the time format then changing it back didn't work. I tried multiple times, tried soft resetting before and after different attempts. Its not really a big deal, I was just curious. I'm not really worried about the bugs either, I know its almost impossible to get them bug free. I messed around with cooking Wing ROMs for a minute, so I know how much of a pain in the ass debugging can be. This is still the fastest and most stable Hermes m2d ROM I have used yet. Thanks again.
Edit: My dialer is not the one with big buttons shown in your screenshots for 23017, mine is the standard dialer, just an fyi.

I have Manilla 2D 3G installed on my phone (build 23017.5.3.0) and love it! Cannot connect to WLAN at work (network shows at full signal, attempts to connect repeatedly but never does). When I look in Wireless LAN settings it shows Wireless LAN as OFF with no option to turn on. I changed WPA Authentication with Advanced Configuration Tool and now it shows Turn on WLAN option but does nothing when I click it.
Any suggestions are appreciated, would love to keep this ROM on my phone.
Is there anyway to disable StartClean.exe? I removed it from the StartUp folder but my StartUp shortcuts are moved to Program Files with each reset.
THANKS !

I was able to get time to change by selecting H:mm:ss then immediately changing back to h:mm:ss in Regional Settings.
