Hi, I tried many roms and most of them work fine. but I'm always having comm manager issues.
On first boot, comm manager loads fine. but after some use.
whenever i want to use comm manager to load wifi or bt, it won't show up.
I need to reboot the phone and do it.
does anyone know what could be causing this?
thanks

i dont know why it does that but (assuming your using 6.1 and up) you go into the task manager and kill the wrlsmanager process. go back to the home screen and restart the app it should start up now and avoid the reboot.

I had that problem, it was irritating but I just had to make myself press the "Done" button in Comm Manager when I had finished using it, rather than just switching to another app. It always seemed to open fine after I changed my habits! ;-)

is this an issue in every rom? or could it be hardware?
cuz every rom i'm trying is acting like this.
some don't even load after a reset.
it just shows the color wheel.
i have 19mb free ram. so what gives?
Thanks

I'm not so sure if I am understanding this incorrectly, but is it that Bluetooth and Wifi are greyed out on the comm manager? or will the comm manager just not work?
If it is the prior, then what ROM are you using currently (although you say you have tried many)? If it is Ookba's 3vo V2.5.080809 then he posed a fix on the second post for Wifi issues. I know i had issues where Wifi wouldn't start. I installed the fix, and it did exactly that, it fixed it. Not so sure about bluetooth...
I would go ahead an ask Ookba what he did, because at one point he mentioned suspecting there were hardware differences in some Excalibur units...
If it is that the comm manager wont start up, that is weird. If killing the process doesn't always work, check the sortcut...I know that one or two ROMS that i had used in the past had problems where they accidentally put "commmmanager" or something of the sorts, and most of the time, the phone was unable to interpret that correctly.
If it isnt either of those, then I am sorry I am totally off track haha.
Anyways, hope I helped a bit...

Hi
the comm mananger won't load.
and there is no wrls manager process running.
it doesn't load after a reset sometimes either.
I tried the roms posted in the wiki
most of the wm 6.1 roms posted in the wiki
080408 - Remade By Rickywatt
NRG's 'Rose' ROM ver. 1.4
NRG Rose Rom v1.7 - Remade by Ricky and Stylez
and
3VOLUTION series
thanks
what should the comm manager target be?
thanks

Well, i just used a text editor to look at my phone's CommManager link on the start menu ...
Running Ookba's 3VO 2.5 (with the WiFi Patch installed) it says this:
39#"\Windows\CommManager.exe"
?\Windows\SP_ProgramIcon.dll,-110
The second line is for the links icon...the first line points to where the Communications Manager program is...make sure it matches that...
By the way...are you launching comm manager from the start menu or from the CComm panel on the homescreen, or are you using the 'hold down the TZones/Internet button' method implemented in some ROMs?...for any of them there is a way to check the link....
I mentioned above how to check for Start Menu....
For the CComm Panel, go into the registry with a registry editor...Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CComm\ ... in there should be keys named "Page1", Page2 and so on...check each of them for "SK2URL" and make sure that for each the value is "\Windows\CommManager.exe" (no quotes " ")
For the holding down of the TZones/Internet button, go to the windows directory and look for long_IE.lnk (i think that is what it is called, im not sure though...my phone doesnt have that) and make sure it points to the correct file...
That is really all i can think of...hope it helps

Do you have Notepad or something on your phone? If not I believe there is a NotePad program on the Development and Hacking sub-forum on XDA, if not you can go to this site, they have a notepad application i belive
http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/DashApps.htm
Use that to open the .lnk file...
And i use Resco RegEdit to edit the registry, but i believe most ROMS have some reg editor built in...

For starters, why is it "CommManagerlink.exe", it should just be "CommManager.exe", unless that is how the ROM was cooked.
Okay, try this...
First, go to the WINDOWS directory, and find CommManager.exe, and click it. If it works, then the shortcut is the problem...if so move on to the next 'step'...
Using a file explorer, make a backup copy of the .lnk file (just do a duplicate, or copy and paste into a new folder) just incase something goes wrong.
Now, for the first try, just change "CommManagerlink.exe" to "CommManager.exe" (obviously, no " "). if that doesn't work, do the next method.
If the first method didn't work, try replacing the contents of the .lnk file with
39#"\Windows\CommManager.exe"
If that method did not work, then I am really not sure what is wrong. However, i know that some ROM's come cooked with Resco Explorer...and there is a function on one of the menus to "Send to Start Menu as a Shortcut"...that would make it a whole lot easier...since you could just do that instead of making/modifying your own...
Look inside the WINDOWS folder, and look for "CommManagerlink.exe" ... I doubt it exists...but it all depends on what ROM you are using, as I don't know the specifics of EVERY ROM. So what ROM are you currently using?
Hope this helps

Give me som details about your phone...
Where was it made (China or Taiwan)? (it says behind the battery, on the phone)
What ROM are you running?
How much are you overclocking?
What applications do you have installed?
Are you trying to use the 'NEW' CommManager (the sleek one), or the Old Default (for stock ROMs) that is tacky?
And any other detail you think is important...
From that i may be able to help you more!

Hey,
thanks for helping me out.
I have the Taiwan version and the China version.
both of them are currently using the NRG rose 1.4 rom.
i have programs like,
Sktools, phone alarm, facade and S2u2 installed.
But i had this issues before installing any programs.
it happens on and off. and sometimes a softreset brings it back.
the rom came with the HTC comm manager.
but I switched it to the tacky one cuz it loads up faster and i don't need to scroll.
Thanks

S2U2? Are you even using an Excalibur? If not, you have posted in the wrong thread, as this is for EXCALIBUR phones. Although i guess windows mobile is windows mobile no matter what phone you are on.
I would do some google'ing...search for errors related to programs, bugs, or glitches that might make them interefere with the phone's normal functions. I would try looking at Facade since (if i am correct) that interacts with the homescreen, which i suppose could accidentally screw something up with other system functions.
These are all guesses, and I can't honestly think of anything else...It is really up to good google powers now haha.

Yea I'm using the Tmobile Dash. lol
I use S2u2 as the locking program.
it works well. the old locking program didn't work too well for me.
I had this issue before i knew about facade or installed it.
thanks

Oh, i was under the impression S2U2 was only for TouchScreen. Anyways, so the problem did happen BEFORE using Facade...hmmmm...thinking time!
I will get back to you as soon as i can think of a solution for your situation. However I am busy on my theme!
My current solution...Upgrade to one of the WM6.5 ROMs...they are awesome IMHO and probably give you better battery life...

But isn't there only 1 Wm6.5 rom?
I wish there was lite 6.5 rom.

You are mistaken! Haha, that is what I originally thought, but there is another!!!
Try AlekSS's 6.5 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545779)...its supposedly sort of like a lite version of Ookba's ROM
