looking at getting a wireless mouse that uses 2.4Ghz for the connection. now, this thing comes with it's own receiver.

what i am curious about is if i can use my laptops built in Wifi card in place of the external receiver. obviously the only reason im looking at getting a wireless mouse is ease of transport and not having to plug crap in all the time when i travel. so having to use a rather large external receiver would be kind of a deal breaker for me.

From my knowledge, wireless mice connect either via bluetooth or RF(radio frequency). i've never seen a wifi mouse.

Have a look at the logitech ones as the receivers are a few mm thick so they can be left in the port, if you dont mind losing it

logitech makes those small RF receivers? link? all i have seen is the BT ones.

and yes, sorry about the confusion. from what i saw the phone ran on 2.4Ghz, which i likened to Wifi. :o

Here you go here's a link to their site

Just filter for notebook and then you can see there are a few that have the teeny tiny receivers.

And got beaten to the punch line :D

Always a classic from Mike ;)

On subject can't stand wirelss mice always less functionality and less precise, after all you need to have a desk level to work on so pluggin in a lead isn't that much extra.

was actually looking at getting the Razer Mamba. it seems decent (albeit expensive) but looks to be a lateral move for portability with a laptop since it always needs the huge dock. :(

Hi michaelclark...

For better understanding you have need specify what's major facility or problem in between wireless and plugged mouse. I think wireless mouse is more advance than plugged but how it is not user friendly? please specify that.

Yes,
I agree with Stylez, Wireless mice is less effective than plugged.
And I think Wifi mouse is being developed.

it seems these new ultra high end wireless mices such as the Mamba do not have any lag issues.

anyway, from what i have been able to gather this Mouse does not work with Windows7 and that their is no way around that huge dock thing. oh well.

LOL WUT?

There is no lag in the high end mice. Also, wireless has no cables (duh), but the constant need to recharge the battery is frustrating at times.

My advice:

GET A LOGITECH. Either "MX REVOLUTION' or "G7".
