What are you guys using for the dpi_192 files on build 23041? Are you using the files from another build or something because unless I have missed it serveral times we don't have those quite yet.

i will check and recheck, but yes DIAM500 is set up. I'm using indagrooves sprint kitchen. The only thing i changed was the fact that i added in the new SYS/ROM folder from the latest build.

Which kitchen did you use before? I'm uploadig the SYS/ROM folder set I used for my kitchen...based on calcu's kitchen.

I still dont know what you guys are talking about. The volume control applet has not changed since I first bought a WM6 PDA, other than recently the window itself has grown larger, with the same options and controls. Are you mistaking HTC "VolumeControl" for an MS app?

No I am not confusing the two. Yes the newer UI was larger and more finger friendly... but thats not the point. The point being the "old" style responded via 1 press of the volume button, changing the profile. So any accidental bump would render my phone silent or on the lowest volume.

The "new" Volume style followed similarly to that of the HTC Volume control... where the first keypress would bring up the UI... and a second press was required to actually change it.

This second button press requirement was perfect for both HTC Volume Control and the "new" 23034 setup.

In all honesty, having 2 dedicated volume buttons is useless. I personally would rather use the PTT button to launch the Volume UI and leave the vol Up and Down buttons programmable for other features. Said features could include a REAL Dpad up/down (not emulated) or quick launcher keys for Messaging, Wireless manager, or a Task Manager/Alt+Tab app.

My Axim x51v has 3 keys on the left side as well and each are programmable from the button settings program which I have the above keymaps assigned and it works fantastic. In the case of MS's new "Quick Menu", best case would be to assign it to the PTT button and leave the Volume buttons alone since we can't custom assign them anyway.

Thanks, I figure out what the problem is I think. It's coming from the OEMXipKernel. Apparently when I copied it over, something must have gotten corrupt. Recopying it fixed the date problem in the kitchen and I would be willing to bet it will go past the boot screen now. Just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

HA! I had that same problem. It caused my touch pro to not boot. The NK.exe cant handle Set as September. It should be Sep! I had to restore my nk.exe and set it to 1 OCT 2009. Then it would boot fine. It's a bug in xipporterex.

Does anyone hv issues when change wallpaper, the wallpaper doesnt apply the startmenu screen, just apply the homescreen till do the softreset. Also sometimes change themes cause the phone hangs. I hv this issues since 23028 -> 23041.

i see, well thank you for the clarification, but now i further suspect a difference in the cdma vs gsm keypad driver, because i have the same behavior as before. the initial keypress of either volume button changes the volume/profile for me still.

If you attempt to change the ROM date in the nk.exe to any day in September using xipporterex, it will cause kernel to fail on boot. Either don't change the date, or set it to something other than september.

No problems here. I have erviuskitchen setup for my CDMA Diamond a bit differently than indagroove. Building a new SYS into my ROM is usually easy as copying the SYS files, copying the XIP and running the build. Of course moving from something like 23017 to 23037 requires some visual changes so things look right, but things still should boot.

I am using ervius kitchen 1.8.1

The OEMXipKernel is device specific so it will not work on all devices, you have to use the OEMXipKernel specific to your device. Easiest way is to just copy it from the previous build that you used or find the one for your device.

Would probably not change from the last build unless a new stock ROM was released for your device. Did you build a ROM in 23037 ?? If so, just copy the OEMXipKernel from that folder into a new folder 23041. OEMXipKernel does not change that often unless the OEM (device Manufacturer) releases a new ROM.

I know HTC did away with that option a while ago, so now MS has followed suit? I guess the manufacturers dont need another reminder 15 minutes later cause it dont matter if they're late or something :p I wish HTC would change their notification manager too. I went through a whole ordeal a while ago trying to get someone to help add a snooze option to new notification managers.

on a lighter note, has anyone tried the Collapse Chaos from Topaz rom? Its a pretty fun game ;) And you cant beat free. Does anyone know what JuiceCaster is?

It sounds like you've included a LockstreamDRM package in your ROM without adding the necessary registry entries to the boot.rgu. Either remove the package completely (unless you really need it), replace with DiscretixDRM, or add the necessary entries to the boot.rgu (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3651050&postcount=3980)

The MSXIPKernel portion of the XIP is not device specific. So, you should be fine. Just make sure your DO NOT use the OEMXIPKernel parts from another devices XIP.

"Real 6.5" instructs Platform Rebuilder that you have a 6.5 Native Kernel. This means it tries to allocate modules to slots 60/61. If you don't have a 6.5 Native Kernel this is not a valid operation, and the ROM will not boot (slot 60/61 cannot be used in this manner on NK's before 6.5)

I have an SMS bug in 23041. Tapping to create a new SMS doesn't work, although I still receive messages, I can't reply to them or view the actual conversation. I have searched this post and found the same issue in 23031 which was solved by turning wmlview.dll, wmlview7.dll, and webview.dll from modules into files.

This doesn't work on my 23041. wmlview and wmlview7 are already files, and webview can't be turned into a file without the ROM not being able to boot.

My device is HTC Herald, my kitchen is Ervius Visual Kitchen.

I think you're using the wrong comm manager. There are two versions (new and old), and the new one is buggy. You want the old one (maybe version 2.70.xxx or 1.70.xxx). It definitely fixes the landscape issues; don't know about the wifi stuff.

Got everything working but....

The new MS dropdown taskbar works fine under titanium, but with TF3D 2.1 (yozgatg v1.1) enabled when I hit the taskbar I see the dropdown box appear but it moves behind TF3D... after that it does not respond. I have done my fare share of cooking, but I have always used source files that were ready for the kitchen I use.

Today is the first time that I try to put together my own source files, and I would appreciate some help from some of the experienced folks around here.

I have downloaded the 23041 package that contains SYS and XIP in 192 dpi. I am now faced with two challenges where I need your help.

- The package I downloaded has an XIP.bin file. However I can't find a place to place the xip.bin in the kitchen. My kitchen has a folder called ROM with an XIP subdirectory, but that has other subdirectories and files withing. Not a single XIP.bin file. How I place XIP.bin there?

- Since this build doesn't come with 96 dpi files I have download a package with those files. However inside it I find folders labeled xxx_DPI_96 as well as folders labeled xxx_Lang_0409. The original source file I got already has the xxx_Land_409 folders. Am I supposed to merge the folders, substitute them or what?

It's a bad theme file or bad theme install. I sometimes get it randomly when I install my poorly packaged custom theme.
If you didn't try to install your own theme It may be something else like with the original. A few builds back, I had a problem where my .provxml's didn't appear to be running at first boot and that was one of the side effects.

In the process of updating my theme for 23041 QVGA. They changed the size of the Icons for Start/OK/X/CutCopyPaste/Etc. Will post shortly as a standard to use to make your own Themes. Icons were 16x16 (QVGA, 32x32 VGA), now they are 24x24 (QVGA, 48x48 VGA). There also looks to be some new images for the new Notepad.

I am not, but I am using my own CPR's which i need to edit. They aren't ligning up properly in 23041. Clock is half offscreen.

Only the first time after a soft reset does it appear to lock up. I usually just tap the power button and then tap it again to turn the screen back on and then the slider works fine. After the first lock after a soft rest, it appears to work fine. Don't know it that is what you are seeing or not.

Only the first time after a soft reset does it appear to lock up. I usually just tap the power button and then tap it again to turn the screen back on and then the slider works fine. After the first lock after a soft rest, it appears to work fine. Don't know it that is what you are seeing or not.

For those looking for 96dpi files for 23041 here is a link to ones that work.

I've used them and successfully built a rom. A couple of things you will need to know though. They changed some things in the shellres files for 96dpi so don't build into any rom any custom taskbar or you will get a rom looking like the picture from a couple of posts ago. I cooked a custom taskbar into my first build and I had to take out one tweak at a time to figure out this was the culprit. I can't help anyone on fixing the clock/task manager on the taskbar unless you are using the LG Incite because there was a LG program that needed to be rewritten (thanks WMX on LG-Incite.com) to make it look proper. Also had to edit the cpr files. Unfortunately it had other functions so it couldn't just be removed. Here is are some screenshots of how my device looks.

The only problem I seem to be having with this build is the sms problem that was in 23034.

Everything works just find, it's your theme. in QVGA, don't use old Classicblue TSK's. Convert the new 192 dpi ClassicBlue TSK to 96 DPI. Same goes for any other theme, if it wasn't written for 23041, you'll see that bug in previouse screen shot. Old TopBar Icons do work as you can see mine does & I haven't edited it at all.

hmm, just flashed PhamQuang's 23041 build on my HD, but there's a bug where I can't scroll down the recent calls list in the dialer (worked fine on Miri's 23037 build). Everything else seems to scroll just fine.

Any ideas which file(s) and/or reg entries control the scroll action in the dialer? Thanks

My problem was that I had an shellres.192.dll in my EXT packages for changing some icons. That 'old' shellres messed op the layout the same way you all are schowing (old style grey bottom bar)
I copied the 23041 shellres to my EXT and modded that one with my own icons....
Working good now...:D

But my problem still is: My TF3D overlaps the MS dropdown taskbar and makes it unusable. When I use titanium interface it works without any problem. Anyone else have this problem or a sollution?

Have you guys seen this? bikeandestroyx over at PPC Geeks has made a cab that moves Manila up on the screen to account for the large softkeybar and small titebar, it works perfectly, I just cooked a ROM build 23034 with manila 2.6 and it works great! Here you go!

if you look at the screen shots of the roms that claim to have it they even say manila 2.5 in the about manila version. 2.5.1918.

I was sent a supposed "2.6" version that was both dated older than the latest 2.5 and had appeared to be a hacked up version of the mega tf2d.

Could of swore I just said Shellres.##.dll is NOT the problem! Look @ my screen shots from Post 3051 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4457362&postcount=3051). I am using a Shell.96.dll I made for build 23031 in those screenshots! What did I change/edite/update to get rid of the bug? My TSK is what I changed/edited/updated! 2 Soft resets before that I had the bug in both my theme & Classic Blue. Edited my theme for 23041, reinstalled the TSK & bam, bug gone!

NOTE: If your theme is broken in even 1 aspect weither it be a missing image reg or reg pointing to an image that isn't there, the TSK will stop being loaded from that point & have all kinds of bugs. The ClassicBlue theme in the ROM I am using is broken. It give the Gry background bug & all menu selection images have the wrong margin/padding...

Easiest way to do it, download my cab. Extract all files from my cab. Replace all images with your own making sure your image are the same size as mine. If mine if 32 pixels wide by 32 pixels tall, than so should yours (Double values for VGA). Open my TSK in a CAB Manager like WinCE CAB Manager, export the Image reg. Open exported reg in a text editor & do a replace all for DragonWorld & DragonWorld_BWNeo replacing it with what ever name you used to start you image file name with. For example the default is classicblue & black followed by _imagename.png. Now import that edited reg file into your TSK. If you are doing this for VGA, double all values for the image Margin & Paddings. Place everything back in the CAB & rename it to what ever you want so it doesn't overwrite mine. Copy to your device & install, done.

Very strange...I use my exact same custom TSK in the last 3 MS builds. No problem at all: no grey backgrounds. The only problem I had was the 'old' grey bottom bar. After using the original shelress.192.dll modded with my own taskbar icons I got it working fine...
So maybe neither the shellres nor TSK is causing the problem. Maybe a third cinflicting app/package/setting is the evil....

Similar story with me. I collected all bits and pieces from this thread yesterday; assembled all of it, cooked, and then installed the ROM; but it didn't work. It got stuck on the Windows boot screen. Who knows why. It would be nice if somebody shared the 23041 files with DPI 96 already integrated into them, Shell patch, etc.

At xda-developers you will encounter a bunch of people that get upset if you ask somebody that has been discussed before; but I agree with you that searching such a HUGE forum like this one, with the search tool that is build into this forum, is not ideal.

It takes forever to read through hundreds of irrelevant posts just to find the answer you need. If you don't have anything else to do you can of course page through thousands of pages, but I guess that not everybody who participates in xda-developers has the time to do that.

I've been trying out 23041, and as far as I can see, it's slower and slightly less stable than 23037, and I think the bottom bar just looks out of place as it is now... :s

It's nice that the volume keys have been reverted to volume, but I don't really like the having to slide down on the title bar.

I for one will be reverting to my 23037 build for now...

same here, which sucks imo. I wonder if there's a registry setting that can be changed to enable it to work when Manila is on in 23041 builds.... either that or attempting to patch files over from the 23037 build that doesn't have the nice swipe down animation but works, and not just in Titanium either.

I tried your SYS and I always get an error Windows\Menu_Operation.xml failed, device stucks on today screen and after soft reset the first boot proccess starts from the begining again, and ends with the same error.

that's an OEM issue I suggest you look at the various *.txt files in oem

looking for some help and advice guys. So earlier i reported that my camera wasnt working on my diamond using this SYS, however i just realized that i get the same error message on the camera icon that i get on the calculator icon. I think im missing some package or codec or something. Anyone else expiereince this or know what im missing?

Very strange...I use my exact same custom TSK in the last 3 MS builds. No problem at all: no grey backgrounds. The only problem I had was the 'old' grey bottom bar. After using the original shelress.192.dll modded with my own taskbar icons I got it working fine...
So maybe neither the shellres nor TSK is causing the problem. Maybe a third cinflicting app/package/setting is the evil....

You bring up a good point, now that I think back the chef cooked in both Showcase & HTC Task Manager. This cuased big problems with the topbar. I couldn't open HTC TM or the WM 6.5 Enlarged Titlebar. It was during this time that I saw that bug. I than copied out all Showcase exe's & opened them with Wordpad. I deleted some misc code & saved them to break Showcase. I also disabled HTC Enlarged Titlebar which was built in & if I remember correctly, HTC Volume Control. After that, the HTC TM & WM Enlarged Titlebar worked fine.

of course is the 23037 but the common files in shared common are 23041... and... if the people that uploads that packages add the outres.dll amd shellress... well its a 23041 now.

I had that problem awhile ago, I ended up using the lockscreen from 198.. Let me know if you don't have it, otherwise I'll attach..

Thanks for the files. These ones DO work (at least on the Kaiser). The only thing is that the files seem to be missing the Office applications. Did you remove anything else?

The 23041 build looks nice, but I am wondering if anybody knows how to make the top and bottom bars more transparent (like they were on the 23034 build). They look too grey on my system and I don't like that very much.

Anyway, none of the links or video provided an answer. For those that are are open to questions, below are two screen shots. One with build 23034. Notice that the top bar is totally black, and the bottom bar while it has some grey to it, it is not much.

Then look at the one created with 23041. Both the top one and the bottom one have much more grey to it, and it makes the layout look less attractive. Unfortunately the greyness doesn't come across as well in the pictures; but I can clearly see the difference when I have the device in front of me.

Believe it or not this post is the one that solved my problem. By knowing that the bottom bar has a png behind it, and the name now I can now solve the problem by simply moving the 23034 top and bottom png files to the 23041 folder and the problem should be solved.

hi frnds. need urgent help.
i have a diamond 1.
i use XDAUC as my 1st boot installation so i need to remove autorun, check autorun from my oem, but when i do this, my phone doesnt catches signal. why so. whats the registry to sort this. it detects my simcard and shows sim services in start menu but doesnt catches signal. and when i put back autorun and checkautorun, the ssignal is back.
this didnt use to happen on raphael and toapz.
please help.
