A few posts back I provided you with a list of my initial observations (pluses and minuses) about build 23052 and 23053.

One of the minuses I listed was that Outlook was closing itself after browsing and scrolling through several messages. A few minutes ago my phone froze (while sitting idle running 23053). This had NEVER happened to me before. So I decided to reload the ROM and not load any of my 3rd party applications.

The interesting finding is that Outlook works perfectly OK when it is naked (without any 3rd party applications). The alleged bug is no longer there.

Therefore I suspect that the bug is related to some sort of incompatibility with one of my software packages, and I am now trying to narrow down the issue.

My gut feelings (based on experience and knowledge of what resides in memory and what doesn't) is that the issue is being caused by the new e-natives Showcase Suite for WM 6.5

I love the new Showcase Suite since it merges very nicely with the new builds of WM 6.5; so if it really is THAT software (not 100% sure yet), I hope the developer fixes it. Other people have reported problems with their phone freezing while using Outlook at that software.

So if you using the Showcase Suite for WM 6.5 please pay attention to this type of behavior and let us know if you experience it or not. It took me more than a day to start experiencing the freezing of the phone; so don't expect the alleged freeze bug to be automatic or that obvious. However, the Outlook email closing issue is apparent right away if you open and close several emails in a row and scroll through them as you are viewing them. Please note that I am using ActiveSync and MS Exchange; so the bug may only affect similarly configured phones.

you have a native 6.5 nk.exe with your diamond right? if so then you probably dont have to worry about recmodding modules...and yes modules are a little bit faster opening than files are.

i dont think da_g has a "fix" for having to touch the clock before you unlock but maybe im wrong. i dont have any "fix" applied and both my 23017 and 23053 roms i have flashed now lock-unlock perfect like they are supposed to without touching the clock or anything first besides the slider.

yes you are right, i have a kaiser and a fuze :) i have 2 totally separate kitchens for them, because of the file/module thing and the diff nk.exe. with my kaiser rom, i have no modules in ext at all plus i recmod the modules like i described in my post a few pages back.

for fuze is totally different, i dont recmod any modules for it at all...and 95% of my ext pkgs are modules :) im able to do this because of the native nk.exe, and it does make applications open faster im sure of it ;) best i can remember i have like 7-800 modules in my full fuze rom lol.

well mostly.just work on what htc have given us as modules :D although not all of their modules work, ntfconfig dll works better asa file for instance.

I also tend to imitate the oemdrivers from topaz and turn the same drivers to modules for my hd.

Im getting the same issues and I do have showcase installed. Im uninstalling it now and Ill see if it freezes up at work today.

i wish i knew the answer to that question myself lol. i have never had any problems with htc apps/services besides phone canvas, the ones that dont always work are the third party apps. ive just been doing a few at a time and testing, if there is a way to know for sure before going to all of that trouble would be nice :)

More detail. I can now get messages to leave my outbox, but if/when they do, I get a pop-up from the HTC Text Messages Retry program:

Cause Code : SMS Org.D.

I can click retry but the message continues to reappear. Some research suggests this could be a problem with my account at Verizon. I'm going to flash a stock ROM just to rule this out. Then try 23053.

EDIT - stock ROM fails with same failure mechanism. Looks to be a problem with my account at my carrier. Next step - call to customer service geniuses...
Problem seems to be traced down to my data connection parameters having been erased (PPP account name and password for my carrier's data connection). Not sure how that happened - but then again I was flashing again... Restoring that info cured the problem.

21857 seems to be fastest, but it has old look (smaller bars & not finger friendly)
23053 has new look with finger friendly UI and nice icons on drop taskbar
23414 also has new look & finger friendly + new contacts menu ...but does it have the nice icons on the drop taskbar too?

also in 23052 colume control had better graphics..52&53 for some reason went back to ugly circle graphics..is it better in 23414?

any issues / bugs / or good things in 23414 (other than better contacts)?

(30408704 /1024) / 1024 = 29MB.

Then if you have any modules the 0 MODULES becoms for example 5 MODULES and the 0x02000000 - 0x01d60000 changes based on your type of modules.

You should first search and read everything then ask if you could not find out.

Timebombed os means it will be usable up to a specific date. So if you do not patch it it will stop working some near time.

If you use any of cooked ROMs from XDA-Dev then for sure they have patched it already.

My experience with Visualkitchen is that it patches a timebombed shell.exe by itself.

Another unanswered question is about the unavailable storage card in versions 23047 and 23052. Some people said that it could have to do with the module count somewhere.

if you're using ervius VK it will be in the build_log.txt in the root folder of your kitchen once the build is complete.

scroll down to "Memory Map..." - here's mine for example (diamond_c, cdma no native kernel)

I think there's a setting in my kitchen that is messing up the WM6.5.1 volume control. It always appears too large so that the bottom is cut off. Does anyone have a clue what might be causing it? My next step would be to take out all EXT's and replace one by one to find what's causing it...but I thought I'd try here first to try to same some time :). Thanks.

Translate a rom that you have saw in other language to your or wwe or whatevere is just a merely... idea... so you may ask in Htcspain to that specific chef and ask him to rebuild it with your lang but believe me is not a easy task.

Thanks guys. I have been deleting that png path so the WM bubble does not interfere with tachi dialer. Is there or new way of only have the htc/tachi dialer appear during a call or is it just a choice between volume control being cut off and the bubble popping up?

I've got igo8 and it's worked fine in all the builds u mentioned. Only time I had an issue was when I had voicecmd.exe and htcalbum.exe in memory... then it gave a "failed to initialize virtual memory" or something like that. Loaded fine after killing both.

may depend on the canvas you're using... here's mine:

Yes, those common packages which will not operate in your language (voice command, transcriber) can safely be deleted, as they will not function if included in the ROM. (or maybe if you included the 0409 components, but renamed it all to 0413, it would function, but be in english :))

I use build 23053 with TF3D2.1 and since build 23034 I cannot scroll to my contacts in phone mode. I can however scroll in the contactscreen. Anyone got a solution for this?

My second problem is that my carkit needs the bluetooth remote SIM feature to be turned on. Since 23053, when I stop the engine (ie disconnect the phone from the bluetooth carkit), the phone does not connect to the carrier anymore. I get the "enter pin screen" but when I enter my PIN it says that this is not a supported function :eek:. A soft reset is the only thing that works.

Hope someone can help me with both problems.

No solution. Same problem though (builds 23034+). Additionally, SensorSDK 4 only rotates Manila (no longer CHome, Start Menu, etc.), and with Showcase Suite installed, Manila doesn't even rotate. I also experienced lock-up issues w/Showcase Suite, so that I had to move to build 21857 for stability (since the overlap & space in Manila is graphically unpleasant).

Hi all,
I have been trying for the last two days to create a shortcut to a FOLDER on my SDCARD (NOT an appllication/exe/file) and put it into the start menu. I can create the shortcut and it appears in the start menu but won't run, I.E., lets say i have a shortcut to the utilities folder (i know its already in start menu but i want a shortcut), i run it and it complains about certs - i have sdkcerts installed! I have edited the regkey to tell it that its a folder as opposed to a file but no joy. I have searched this forum and google and everything just decribes shortcuts to files/exe - thats easy!

Is this possible, according to MS blog it is by setting the regkey to 1 to say its a folder but no joy?

There is nothing to see, because nothing happens, I can click on it and nothing nothing, other problem is SOO LOOONG touch delay (0.3 sec, around), so i can't type text fast. I have new shellres, shellres* and new shell folder. I can't port OS, so I used the old one, but with some files from new, so I think I missed some files, and there goes my question to files that launches that enlarger.

Thanks for your reply, my mistake i should have mentioned i had seen that. That opens in an explorer window and does work but i was trying something else. I found this info on an eten-users site and wondering IF its possible and if so are the RAM savings true. This is a quote from the site:

-as before shell32.exe-10-13 mb and gwes.exe-9-12 mb eat the RAM
-SO,I istalled Resco Explorer-->created Start Menu folder in SDMMC-->COPIED ALL FOLDERS FROM \WINDOWS\START MENU there-->Sent Shortcut of that folder to Start Menu,left just the most used programs there and managed to get shell32.exe-6-7 mb.

Found a small little bug with build 23053. If anybody knows a registry key to fix this please share it.

When I get an email message and I see the email notification on the taskbar I click on the extended taskbar. A larger envelope is shown there, so I click it. However when I do I get the 'account picker' even though I selected that I did NOT want to be presented with account picker in Messaging options.

My choice of not being presented with the account picket is respected by WM 6.5 when I select messaging from the Titanium screen and the Start Menu, but it is NOT being respected from the extended taskbar.

This bug occurs in 23053 build, if the original was replaced by any other shellres.96.dll.
Should seek the original shellres.96.dll and replace it in the SYS folder.

The link is bad. I'm in the same boat. I use the Tachi dialer and the Position fix but lack the window class name or any other good solution. Everything else is aligned right except the incoming call screen.

For me manila rotates fine until I use ManilaPositionFix.exe then no more manila rotation.

using clean build 23052, alarms work great without bugs initially, but after some days i've noticed the known bug, when an alarm start, it sounds like notification and the alarm real sound doesn't start...
i can't understand why, works then doesn't works anymore..
is this issue caused by adding htc software or G-alarm?

When i try to run it from startmenu i get messagebox:The file 'Games' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If problem persists etc etc.
As you can see, it is STILL treating it as a FILE and NOT a folder. It displays fine, even the right icon, just doesn't work?

Interesting. When I launch Calendar and rotate through all of the calendar styles (daily, weekly, monthly, etc) the menu will switch to the condensed form. It is the same menu just without the disabled stuff. I kinda like it. I hate trying to use a menu with a ton of disabled options, why even display them if you can't use them?

It resets to the old menu if I close out of Calendar and reopen it... but if I rotate through the styles it condenses again.

I can only answer: I know ervius kitchen DOES patch shell32 when building - if yours doesn't then theres usually a patched shell32 released with new builds anyway. As for the second part of your question re: SDcard missing, i have to say i haven't had this isuue with the two builds you mentioned - both had the SDcard working for me. I use a Glofish X500. Maybe you could check the driver your using, also you could try recmodding some packages to free up slot 0 but again before i recmodded i had similar amounts in slot 0 as you but my card still worked, this is what makes me think possibly your driver.

I had a few problems in general with build 23037, seemed very buggy. The newest version i use is 23053 - 23052 is on this forum, just go to first page.

using clean build 23052, alarms work great without bugs initially, but after some days i've noticed the known bug, when an alarm start, it sounds like notification and the alarm real sound doesn't start...
i can't understand why, works then doesn't works anymore..
is this issue caused by adding htc software or G-alarm?

your sdcard driver is fine. you need to recmod more modules and clear up space in slot 0. its not a bitch to recmod modules, in fact, scripts to DO IT FOR YOU COMPLETELY have been posted in this thread something like 6 or 7 times that i can remember off the top of my head.

i looked at your maps, and while you say that there is not much difference, well its the difference in enough VM and not enough.

This is normal behavior. If the menu (according to the list of menu options the application submits to GWE) fits on the screen, GWE does not put the menu theme images on the top and bottom (with the up arrows and down arrows). If the menu doesn't fit, GWE adds the theme images to scroll the menu. If you reduce the menuselector top and bottom margins, you will fit more on the screen (and see less up/down scroll buttons) at the expense of having to be more precise with your finger. I'm using a value of 7 on a Touch Pro VGA screen. Seems to be a good balance.

havent tried it, but if the build date is september 7, its almost 3 weeks old....if you think about it go back 3 weeks almost a month ago and see what we were using back then, lot of problems been cleaned up since then...id be the first to try it if it was a new build, 3 weeks old isnt worth it to me...

Thats the issue then..... I think browsing is related to sms etc - i removed it and had similar issues. Soon as i added it - problem solved.

You can remove browsingie and save around 7-8mb but NOT browsing!

EDIT: Just been looking through the registry and found the key for typing lag:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
"InitialDelay"=dword:00000000

The initialdelay was set to 8, i changed to 0 and its FAAAAAAAST!!!!

I have been polishing the batch files that I use to recmod the modules when a new OS release arrives.

In the attached file there is 3 bacth (.cmd) files:

- module2file.cmd: to recmod single modules. Just drag and drop the module folders you want to recmod into module2file.cmd. You can drop several modules together.

- package2file.cmd: to recmod all the modules in a package. Just drag and drop the package folders you want to recmod into package2file.cmd. You can drop several packages together.

- BatchRecmod.cmd: to recmod a list of modules and packages included in a text file. Just drag and drop the text file with the list into BatchRecmod.cmd.

Notes
- All batch files and recmod.exe must be in the same folder.
- In the attached file there is an example of the text file to use with BatchRecmod.cmd (is the list that I use). Each line of the file is a module or package.
- The path of the module is relative to a variable KITCHENPATH defined inside BatchRecmod.cmd. You must modify this variable to your own system configuration. BatchRecmod.cmd add the value of KITCHENPATH to the beginning of each line in the list. (Example: to convert the module C:\Kitchen\SYS\BROWSING\browser.dll, you can set KITCHENPATH=C:\Kitchen\SYS and write BROWSING\browser.dll in the text file or set KITCHENPATH=C:\Kitchen and add SYS\BROWSING\browser.dll on the text file.

I have tested them and I think that they have no errors, but comments and feedback are wellcome.

I have two problem :

* When i use PowerOffWarning, the screen go off but i can see the led lighting ( for the phone), and I'm unable to power on the pda !! I need to remove and re plug the battery.

your sdcard driver is fine. you need to recmod more modules and clear up space in slot 0. its not a bitch to recmod modules, in fact, scripts to DO IT FOR YOU COMPLETELY have been posted in this thread something like 6 or 7 times that i can remember off the top of my head.

i looked at your maps, and while you say that there is not much difference, well its the difference in enough VM and not enough.

Mmmm hey fellows... have a question in 23053.... anybody experimenting errors adding files to the media library storage files in Windows Media Player??? i know everybody use another one but just give it a try, to update the library.
Seems to be running fine for me. In fact I haven't yet found a single functional issue with 23053 - just some skinning issues (and I couldn't figure out the magnifier so I just disabled it).

Are you adding files from a storage card or from the device memory? Any other storage card access problems?

Last thought - are you running a 6.5 native kernel or 6.1? If 6.1 how's your slot 0 free VM? Too many modules --> too little slot 0 space and wierdness starts creeping in. Very difficult to track down...

Yes Native kernel so the modulating is not a problem slot 0 0 modules gigigi ;D

So i dont know where could be the problem, yes if you set the update library... it recognize all the files in Main and storage so, once it finish it must set in Library... main and storage well it cant add files... it tooks a while!!!! to add the main memory files but... then it dont add storage card files... xtrange isnt it???

I think it is caused by using a custom taskbar not made specifically for 23053 (if I'm understanding what you mean by radio buttons correctly).

How are some of you getting around the funky softkeys? For example in my Tachi Dialer, the Contacts softkey brings up menu with options and such. I also have the bolded fonts where some of you have "non-bolded" fonts.

Is it a special shellres or shell32 from the COM4 builds? These newer builds are driving me nuts.

Build 20352 was running fine on my Artemis, but I realised that it did not recognize my SDHC card, although the sdhc.dll was there in OEMdrivers. Also, it just doesn't connect to USB. No error message on the computer either. Just nothing happens. What could be the problem?

In the attached file there is 3 bacth (.cmd) files:

- module2file.cmd: to recmod single modules. Just drag and drop the module folders you want to recmod into module2file.cmd. You can drop several modules together.

Hi guys is there a way to integrate reminders from appointments into the lockscreen? Usually when a reminder occurs, there is a notification that appears on the bottom of the screen. Is it possible to make it appears as if there is a new sms or missed call (there is a number '1' beside the lock icon when a reminder occurs)
