Man it's been all week and no new builds?! Whats the hold up? I'm getting cooking withdraws.
I know, right? But it's nice to have some down time, when I can actually USE my phone, rather than it constantly being in Bootloader mode. Also, I've decided to take this opportunity to organize my kitchen a little bit better. I think it'll pay off, when the new builds come.

Does anyone care to speculate on whether M$ will continue to produce WM 6.5.1+ builds after WM7 is released? As the device requirements for it far exceed most current devices (and even many new ones), it's reasonable to think that development of 6.5.1+ will be ongoing, until there aren't anymore resistive screen devices being marketed, right?

Or perhaps WM 6.5 will be relegated to the ever dying breed of Smartphone, and all new Pocket PC's will all have capacitive touch screens. Wouldn't that be something . . .

In the Video of Microsoft + Services the people has a TP2 and a Xperia runing WM7 but... we all knows that it could be justa video runing on tcpmp :p

I agree, I think M$ will release 6.5.x for our devices, but 7 will be reserved for the "next gen" of devices.

I've tried several phone canvas and cooked them in WM6.5 ROM.
Tachi phone canvas performed very well but with no video call function.

I am not saying this will work but TPC came up with the fix awhile ago for the 6.5 dialer I hope it helps. Sorry about the link This one will work. It was for the Kaiser so yes its QVGA

Thanks TPC I was hoping you were watching this thread. I rememeber it fixed the dialer for 21731 build way back and thought it might help if only to lead in right direction

All I did was get the same packages that I used from the 2.0.1917 version and used that to build my ROM and all worked fine.

What OS do you use? Are there spaces in the path of the cmd or module file? I haven't tested by but I think that they don't like spaces.

Thanks joojoobee666! Here is his auto recmod script. Be SURE and read the instructions in his post. This works perfectly when done right. You can add or delete what files you want it to recmod by editing the .txt file.

The query is about initflashfiles.dat :

I'm cooking ROMs since more then 10 months and I either never opened initflashfiles.dat in hexeditor or hexedited of course.

But as I heared, we should hexedit the initflashfiles.dat and remove the frst hex's FF FE part which are created by notepad. but I never did this and it didn't given any troubles.

As I downloaded initflashfiles.dat ( Provided by da_g in first post ), it doesn't consists FF FE part when edited in hexeditor.

Please someone tell me is it essential to remove/empty these hex and what problem causes if we don't do it?

I don't like to use visual kitchen coz its too much advanced and I don't need so. I made my own kitchen using bepe's platform rebuilder. :)

I found it easier to use SuperEdi to edit initflashfiles.dat - You will not need hex-editing when using it! :D

What is the minimum (or optimum) amount of memory should remain in Slot 0 and whether there is dependence on the amount of memory on the device (64/128/256/512)?

Omnia i900 and i910 do not have native 6.5 kernals. Omnia 2 will have one if it came with 6.5.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know how to make the settings pnel for titanium work? I have edited the registry to add it, but I guess there is something else needed in the cpl file? I know drkfngdragon said something before about getting it working, wonder if someone could share their cpl file with this working or point me in the right direction. please make it noob friendly as I have never even used titanium(prefer manila, but thought I might give it a go with the long wait for a new build)

Use more recent builds from COM2 branch. They have old GUI, but "staying in settings" and "moving start menu icons" are there since 21928.

The latest I tried was 21857 (don't get confused with build numbers ;)).

recent builds and the xperia panel manager does not go hand in hand, due to the fact that the panels positions arent fitting the screen, only build 23017 and older works well with the panels

you can add icons to start menu\settings with png files, and you can tell what cpl number they are by looking in registry on phone or in ext pkgs app.reg for that item. if you look in the htc mega pkgs that da_g posted awhile back, the power.exe pkg has png icons included with it and registry to place them in the right place. here is the registry from that pkg for an example.

Hi, I found your post when looking for a way to make my Power applet point to "\Windows\Power.exe". This is a Power.exe I got here on the forum that works fine in my phone, but when I add this registry key, Power disappears from settings. ::confused:

You most probably replaced battdrv and/or powerexe from another ROM.
dump an original for your device and replace those from your ROM.

I had the same problem in my rom with the new mega OEM packages. I solved it by replace the backlight.dll with this from mega oemdrivers folder.

Omnia i900 and i910 do not have native 6.5 kernals. Omnia 2 will have one if it came with 6.5.

I don't like to use visual kitchen coz its too much advanced and I don't need so. I made my own kitchen using bepe's platform rebuilder. :)
FWIW, Visual Kitchen is just a front-end for Platform Rebuilder. The hard part about Visual Kitchen is getting to know the directory structure. Once that is down the cooking process and results should be the same.

Or to say it differently, if you have a working kitchen that you like using Platform Rebuilder, and porting new OS release to your kitchen is easy, then stick with it.

I need some help getting the mega packages to cook into my rom and I figured since alot of chefs hang out here I would ask here. I'm cooking for an Opal and every time I try to build using the Mega packages it gives me an nbh that's around 65 mb. If I build using the Opal packages it comes out near 100 mb. I'm using the ervius kitchen. If anyone can tell me how to set up the packages or point me in the direction of a tutorial I would be very greatfull.

No it applies the finger friendly menu you see in the screenshot to ALL menu's throughout the OS - It replaces the WM menu's with the much larger and more finger friendly version.

@svrpm: If you can find the same version number as I posted a couple of pages back in QVGA then try that.

com3 "has" the same GUI of com2 'til 23017 then it has been fussioned with the "Maldives" so it becomes COM3 NEW enhacements at startmenu not back pagging at settings... sliding panels at settings and drag and drop icons... then the COM3 has some newer enhacemnets at softkey bar change the X the start icons... and no words... then the COM4 announcing the Windows Phone 6.5 (WM6.5.1) appears with the same shit as COM3 is here... so maybe com2 with old GUI will be the Official release... then upgrades (As akus in older ancient medieval ages coems will merge the COM3 and 4 into newer WP 6.5.1 or in many other webs saying WP6.7 :rolleyes: ) shit how many times does especulation will need a big paragraph like this?????

I've cooked a ROM based on the build 21859 today. Everything works fine except the battery icon in the taskbar.
The battery icon does not open the Power settings after I tap on it. And also when I'm in another window tapping on battery icon causes pressing the X or OK button.
It seems that the X or OK button is larger that usual and traps the tap.
Is there any solution ?

Whats everyone's input on EzInput? Seems everyone is having a problem getting a decent HTC SIP keyboard solution. One of the problems is that you can't swap between the different styles of keyboard (QWERTY, COMPACT, PHONEPAD), it occasionally pops up in NUMPAD mode and gets stuck, and overall buggy.

I disable xT9 during the cooking process via my app.reg using the COMP IME.dll but still get strange behaviors from time to time.

Anyone have a better then normal EzInput package?

pim backup working good here. maybe delete pim.vol(I know it woint delete, but should reset the file to original?) and try again. Have you tried several backups to make surte you dont have a damaged one?

The "LimitedClock"=dword:0 was there but there was no such key as "ConsistentClockOrBattery"=dword:0, so I added it to the registry and Soft-Resetted.

I had that problem running 23047 when I recmodded a little too much. "Supposedly" there are just some files you can't recmod :P

I was getting the same "Low Memory" errors when trying to open a few stock apps like Calendar, Messaging, and Notepad. My dialer didn't work and I couldn't send messages. It was bad. I think I just did a complete wash and rebuilt a new kitchen build from scratch.

You should have memsize set in 3_RunEmulator.cmd

No it applies the finger friendly menu you see in the screenshot to ALL menu's throughout the OS - It replaces the WM menu's with the much larger and more finger friendly version.

Still not seeing how this is different from the stock COM3 menu. There are registry entries that completely control the menu item spacing and width, theme images for the up/down scroll arrows, and the left/right margin to make the menus wider.

Then again I just got my first 6-pack of Blue Moon seasonal so who knows what else I'm not seeing...

Don't know if others have discovered this already. Using COM3 (23053), if you touch and hold the SIP button in the soft key bar, it will bring up the good ole input mode selection menu so you can choose among the cooked in SIP options. I only include NullKB, HTC Full QWERTY, HTC Compact QWERTY and HTC Phone Keypad.

Note - if it doesn't pop up the selection menu, check the following key and make sure it's set to 1:

HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\EnableSipMenu=dword:1

Finally, I'm using version 1_5_32548_0 which (I believe) is from the Verizon HTC Touch Pro CDMA maintenance release. It works fine with 23047, 49, 52, 53 and 21815 (those are the 6.5 builds I've tried it with). At least one newer version had a nasty habit of recording five key presses for every tap on the compact QWERTY keyboard.

I've got the menus showing up on my phone now, but finger scrolling doesn't seem to work with the menu enhancement package.

It used to work in prior builds, but now that it's working again, it's not recognizing it anymore. It works with the d-pad, but that's it.

I don't use those enhancements (I'm anti-finger friendly, lol), but it sounds like a touchflo issue, since it's an htc app. Just a guess, but you may need to cook touchflo, or htc gesture or some similar package, into the rom.

Yeah, the new contacts manager from 23414. Looks ther same when choosing a contact, but you will see a diff when viewing details or editing contact info :) There is a regkey that I forgot in the original cab, so I am attatching both for 96DPI devices(QVGA) and 192DPI(VGA and maybe WVGA?) This will replace outres.192.dll which sometimes is used in custom taskbar so you will need to copy the file back to your device in order to keep your taskbar(I am not sure if that will cause issues, but I have done so with no probs. Note that I do update my resources as new builds are released to keep bugs gone)
As for the stuff that was uploaded originally, there are a lot of garbage reg entries in the .rgu that can be removed. The only one you need is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Contacts]
"EnableCommAndInfoPivots"=dword:1

Note that the VGA version is inside of a zip to allow me to upload. Good luck. Let us know if it works on older versions like 23016 :)

The 23053 outres.192.dll has some changed resources. This would be fine as long as it isnt missing any that 23414 does have. I just figured I would include all of the files necessary just incase.

Well Da_G already said the differences. It incorporates the updated GUI from the later COM3 builds into the COM4 stuff.

So basically it's the best of both worlds now. COM3 GUI, Updated Contacts Manager, few other minor changes bug fixes.

Tried 23053 DPI with the same results. I don't think the issue is in the DPI since everything is there and basically they look almost identical to 23053.

I was able to get the buttons to come back. I switch to one of the default themes, and then back to my custom theme. However, now the task bar buttons are all screwed up.

Hmmm, I am flashing a ROM right now with those keys removed from the ClassicBlue theme to see what happens (and some other minor changes)...

UPDATE: yep they're back, just not skinned now...had to FIRST load an old 6.5 theme to screw the theming engine up, then reload the hacked up Classic Blue...o yeah, and the Task Bar buttons were fine.

They are gone again as soon as you load a theme with the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\PushBut ton] key in it though...
