i am using 23071 now(will move to 23075) but when i press in manila new message it takes baout 2-3sec to open screen for typing message, so pretty slow. Same was with 23060 and older, is there any way to speed that up(somehow put in ram tmail.exe or what it needs to speed that up?

I had that only once, hard reset helped. Now, i've been using 71 for few days, and i havn't had any terminal sleeps

Anyway, my case is different - I've been playing with an Android device, and I was quite amazed. And it's not that MS don't have money or gifted people to achieve that...

Dunno buddy. The magnifier was disabled in my roms by default. But when I saw changes - I just changed

I cooked up 23075 and everything seems to be fine except that I don't get the auto config to run on first power up. This runs to set up the network settings (for internet). When I go to settings->connections->connections the link to "Automatically configure connection" is not there either.

I tried to compare all of the files from my previous build (23071) but could not find anything....

Can someone help me understand what I did wrong?

You need to put some OEM package on your Rom..try this:

don't get me wrong, they can be used. they should make a bootable rom, but he has hex'ed the shellres.dll.0409.mui and all the packages are not there (ex. ADC, livesearch, etc)

Maybe you have wrong attributes set so the provxml file doesent execute (+A +R +S works for me).. take a look at Office provxml - it deletes unnecessary shortcuts so you can take that as a base.

By the way, do provxml files also accept file masks? If so, how to implement please?

When the cab is extracted there is another cab (LiveLocation) inside it. That cab is automatically installed if the main cab is called.

You have to delete them out of the kitchen. You can't delete them out of the rom once they cooked in. Just search for them.

23075 exchange issues here too. no box or <unknown sender>, i just have blank space where senders name would be. server is exchange 2003, i can move my mailbox to 2007, but i havent changed my OEM or EXT in a long time, i blame 23075

Recreated my 23075 SYS and ROM and got it to boot, but I get errors when the customisation happens. won't run cabs, etc - using RunCC.

Just used same EXT, OEM etc and changed back to 23064 and it boots fine. Any ideas why it isn't working - do I re-port the ROM?

Does someone have a link to the DIO, maybe I'll extract the xip.bin and try again?

am not very sure about the history of this discussion but i've been really interested in this.
the question is have is that i have 2cabs that i cook in the rom and upon 1st boot, XDA_UC installs them. not i would prefer that after these cabs are installed on 1st boot, is it possible that there is a script that then deletes them aswell.? this will help save some space in devices like elf.

Isn't it just deleting the shortcuts out of the start menu, though, and not out of \windows? I know that provxml says something about deleting other shortcuts, but I'm pretty sure it just means the start menu (I use a modified one that doesn't put any shortcuts into the start menu, so i can't check).

yep, you cant delete a cab or any other file from windows that has been cooked in, only the ones that have been copied from windows to another location(i.e. start menu shortcuts).



@dt.....you only need msxipkernel from new build in your rom folder, not xip.bin. use everything the same in rom folder from working rom then just replace msxipkernel you should be good.

You can only delete the shortcuts in the startmenu (these are copied from windows-directory at first boot after flash or hardreset). You can not delete the shortcuts in the windows-directory because these are part of the ROM.
Upps - to slow - already answered!

And for the first problem with mortscript.cab:
I would just make a OEM-pack with mortscript so you don't have to install and/or delete a cab-file.

All files cooked into your ROM are placed in the windows folder.

ROM=ReadOnlyMemory, explains itself dosn't it?

Provxml can remove files that were NOT burned into the ROM, but NOT the ones that are in ROM. Shortcuts (or CABS or whatever) can be copied from ROM to "start menu", and then be deleted later from "start menu", but NEVER deleted from \windows (ROM).

If you want to use Cabs in your rom, try UC instead, or convert them to packages, or live with the wasted space.

I have my config.txt in the OEMOPPERATORS Folder and my cabs I want to install in the EXT folder(ervius kitchen)

But the only thing I get on startup is: Loading Config.txt Loading Autoshortcut.

I have installed a rom based on WM 6.5.1 23071 build and I'm having problems with Manila 2.1... It doesn't launch, it shows 'Tap here to launch...', but after tapping nothing happens. I've had a different error 'Unable to launch...', but after installing amraullz's fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4492692&postcount=3494) it disappeared, though Manila still doesn't start. I've tried also to disable it, reboot and re-enable it but without success...
Anyone's having a similar problem and has a solution? I would be very grateful for any advice!

If you want to use Cabs in your rom, try UC instead, or convert them to packages, or live with the wasted space.

This is maybe far off-topic, but maybe someone could write up a program, that can be put into a kitchen and when creating the .nbh, it could be packed with all the cabs placed in a special folder which cooks want to install, but be deleted afterwards... Then the customRUU could be inside a main program, that at first copies all the cab's to the memory-card and then write's the nbh... After this, cooks only need to install the cabs from the storage card and afterwards uninstall them...
I'm just thinking aloud since I'm not a programmer, but hey, maybe someone picks up the idea :)

Yeah, what you want to do is stick a file called add2config.txt in any package that has a cab file in it (or an xml or mscr) that you want to run during customization. I have all my customization stuff in a single package, which makes it easier to get the order of events set properly. I stick the add2config.txt in the Files folder, but I think you can also stick it in the root folder of the EXT. Here's what mine looks like:

CAB: \WINDOWS\MortScript-4.2-PPC.cab
CAB: \WINDOWS\fexploreext.CAB
EXEC:\WINDOWS\Unzip1.mscr
CAB: \WINDOWS\Start.CAB

It works pretty well. You can have multiple add2configs in different EXT's, I believe, but I like having everything in one package.

Are you using Visual Kitchen?
I put my in EXT/Shared/Mods/MySettings/files
It works for me.
I don't think you need LOCK and Reset command in add2config.txt.
Let config.txt do that for you.

For your code... try renaming your cabs, replacing spaces with _ as well as the extra periods...

In some cases the spaces can cause issues with locating a CAB... The periods part is my opinion for max compatability

Did you get an error saying it can't find the file.

Use the file explorer and goto the windows folder and check if the CABs are there... If not, that would explain alot as well as help narrow down the issue.

Yeah, that's the best thing to do. Look in the dump, and see if the cabs, etc. are there. Also, check the config.txt file and see if your add2config.txt was compiled into it. It's also helpful just to look in there and see if you forgot to cook anything in, or if something made its way into your rom that you meant to leave out. You can also check the .hv files with ceregeditor to see if your reg changes in the app.regs made it in. I've saved myself a few disappointing flashes that way.

I'm trying to convert Microsoft My Phone 1.5.2128 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=45cd0b4e-cb8c-460c-8f62-b27758721aa8&DisplayLang=en) to OEM package but so far to no success.

When the cab is extracted there is another cab (LiveLocation) inside it. That cab is automatically installed if the main cab is called.

I've converted both of the cab to OEM packages and My Phone runs but upon reaching Page 3 (sign in screen), it crashes. If LiveLocation is not cooked in, My Phone won't even start.

Would be great if someone could share the converted packages.

Don't forget that the original config.txt must exist, without modifications.
Did you also "include" the "mod" package into the rom in EK?
Your AutoRun or RunCC must ne configured for the config.txt file and not Add2Config.txt.

EK copies all lines in all Add2Config.txt files into the existing config.txt.

Check layout on my sample package. Should go in EXT\Shared\Mods\PackageFolder. Not just in mods. You can drop my package into Mods without an issue, so use it as a sample :)

As others were saying, you want:

EXT\SHARED\Mods\EmrulezCABS\files

Load all your CABs and config file there.

Then make sure it is ON/Selected/Enabled inside the visual kitchen

I dont really use the config but this will help you in the future for adding more CABs

The default pictures titanium plugin is wrong mapped... i mean .jpg pictures dont has an assosiation and .png pics are assosiated to IE... as you may see in the video link.

Ok, after reflashing several times while cooking, finally I saw your problem on my rom. But not all emails in the Exchange account are affected and it only affect Exchange account. Weird, I remember that I have no such problem earlier. Did you cook in HTC Message Enchancement?

23502 is very similar to 23075, with the new contacts manager incuded, didn't spend long enough with it to see if there were any long term benefits.

Three questions if I may ..

1. This has plagued i780 users for a long time - the i780 has a mouse cursor (optical joystick) but it causes graphical glitches - see picture 1, upper left corner. Noone to date has been able to solve this issue - can someone throw some insight into this matter? Seems like WM65-compatible OEM drivers are needed in this case..?

2. Is is possible to always have a transparent toolbar (the one where start button is)? It is transparent most of the time (home screen, start menu, settings..), but not all the time (e.g. when entering alarm settings, composing a sms..) (please see attached picture 1 with not transparent toolbar and picture 2 with transparent toolbar)

3. Is it possible to fix the wallpaper transparency displacement at the top taskbar and bottom toolbar? (please see attached picture 2)

After patching, yet it is timebombed and shows expiry date!

I've been using ervius kitchen since 23016. Thought I patched the shell32.exe properly. Done it many times. Maybe I accidentally dumped it in the wrong folder. First time building on Windows7 64bit. Running the kitchen in XP compatability mode. Hmmm

I uses VK. It told me that it has patch shell32.exe time bomd(fixed), but I still get the BETA Expired 12/1/2009. But I try 25/10/2010, nothing happen! So I think It's just a notification, but the shell32.exe has already patched!

There is a registry key to control the display of the message on the today screen, it has been around since early betas of WM6... the key is either "Today" or "Beta" i cant remember it off the top of my head, but if you poke thru the registry or search for old threads regarding this being displayed on the today screen, should find the key

My hopes exactly.
But, If you're using ShowcaseSuite like me and several others then I have found it crashing MUCH less when I add tmail.exe to the excluded processes.
Whether or not the issue is independent of ShowcaseSuite or not... I'm always excited for a new build.

ahhh was 2 mins too late...lol already cooked it, just ended up deleting it through the registry that solved the problem...but thanks i forget to uncheck the protected OS files.

When I cook my own ROMS for my Samsung Omnia i910, I always use the default dialer (Samsung) as the keys are larger. Hopefully one day they will fix the app so the number keys stop disappearing when trying to dial a number.

Anyways, my question relates to that dialer. When the dialer is open, I select the settings option, select view, and I have 3 options.

The first is (selected by default) "Calls and Contacts", the second is "All Calls", and the third is "Speed Dial".

I would like to find the registry key to have "All Calls" be the default.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Best that I can do you you is to tell you to get something like ST Tracker. What you do is use SK Tracker to make an image of your device. Then you make the change to All Calls. Once you make the change then make another image of your device with SK Tracker and then compare the 2 images to find out what changes were made in the device such as registry keys or other files. SK Tracker compares the images and tells you what has changed so its pretty easy to find out what registry changes you need to make.

yes it does but I want this to happen automatically as I add new SYS builds to my kitchen, I have a feeling this is not going to go anywhere with newer MS test builds. I like to have the kitchen do all the work so all the user has to do is put the new sys/rom in the sys/rom folder
