Best that I can do you you is to tell you to get something like ST Tracker. What you do is use SK Tracker to make an image of your device. Then you make the change to All Calls. Once you make the change then make another image of your device with SK Tracker and then compare the 2 images to find out what changes were made in the device such as registry keys or other files. SK Tracker compares the images and tells you what has changed so its pretty easy to find out what registry changes you need to make.

I tried that with CeRegEditor. I was not able to find the correct key. That was why I posted here since there is so much knowledge and experience in this thread. :)

You can get rid of it with a mortscript during customization. This script works (just tested it on 23071, but not during customization):

RegDeleteKey("HKLM","\Software\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta",TRUE,TRUE)

Put this line in your add2config:

EXEC:\WINDOWS\DeviceBeta.mscr


(Just change the extension from .txt to .mscr.)

Hey, I'm having a weird problem with 23081. I've deleted out the stuff I normally delete, but I still get
SLOT 0: 0x02000000 - 0x00820000 (END: 0x00060000, 175 MODULES)
0x02000000 - 0x01fe0000 - ROM 0
0x01fa0000 - 0x01e70000 - ROM 1
SLOT 1: 0x04000000 - 0x02020000 (END: 0x02020000, 183 MODULES)

Any idea why it's trying to put stuff in Slot 0 when everything fit in slot 1 in previous builds?

You can get the NK in the first or second post of the thread. If you're talking gsm TP, then hunt down one of Da_G's full kitchens. He put out a full 23016 in the old thread in the Raph forum (what I use), and I think he posted a full Raph build here as well, maybe 23022 or 3. If you're talking cdma, then go to ppc geeks or the herman forum here and see what you can find.

\OEM\BlackStone\0409\OperatorPkg\ folder in the kitchen.
Maybe somewherelse...

The oem folder is fine as long as you don't mess with it. I've been using it for months. The NK in that build is old, though. Get the new one posted by Da_G in post 2. It is much better-you save 20+ MB of ram with it. Read rgb's tutorial on porting new sys/xips. It's a piece of cake.

Finally I have found a use for the extra buttons in Ervius Visual Kitchen: I have created a set of batch files to automatically import standard/flat SYS folder into a existing VK and I have added to one off the extra buttons of VK.
I also have used other of the extra buttons for the batch files to auto-recmod that I published before.

Instalation:
- Unzip the attached file into the root of your VK folder. WARNING!! tools\extrabuttons.ini will be overwriten, so if you have used the extrabuttons for something else, save that file before.

Usage (to import a new SYS):
- Unzip/copy the contents of the SYS to import to a folder called 'Import' in the root folder of your kitchen (ie. c:\kitchen\Import).
- Run Erviuskitchen.exe and press 'Extra Buttons'
- Press the button called 'Import new SYS'
- A Command window will start.
- Insert the build number of the SYS. (the files will be moved to SYS\buildnumber)
- Press enter and wait until the work finish.

Usage (to auto-recmod a existing build):
- Run Erviuskitchen.exe and press 'Extra Buttons'
- Press the button called 'Automatic Recmod'
- A Command window will start.
- Insert the build number of the SYS. (the modules into SYS\buildnumber\SHARED\COMMON will be recmoded)
- Press enter and wait until the work finish.

Customization (import a new SYS):
- By default, all languanges and DPIs will be moved to the corresponding folder inside the kitchen.
- If you want to import only a part of the languages or DPI you can edit the file Tools\extrabuttons\batch\sys2evk.cmd. The first lines are:

Hey all, I have cooked 23081 about 15 times so far and it loads fine every time but as soon as device goes asleep - it won't wake up, phone doesn't ring when a call comes in - nothing! I have to reset, then when it goes asleep again - same thing!
I'm obviously missing something but dunno what, have extracted a new fresh kitchen and imported fresh 23081 and oem files etc - same thing???
I have attached my build log, please have a look and tell me where i've gone wrong cos something is missing but i can't see it and have tried all sorts of sys combinations (disabling/enabling stuff) but nothing fixes it.

What device are you using? I've built several 23081 roms already and they seem to be working just great... except my notifications are blank. By the look of your kitchen, its a mess. I'm assuming its for a Kraiser. I also see your installing crap from all kinds of other brands (Omnia, Acer, etc) and NET37. Net3.7 doesn't play well with WelcomeCenter and I've seen it screw up some other apps. I've been using the .NET package included in previous builds located in the SYS\COMMON folder. It is not included with 23081 though.

Best bet is to disable all your packages in the EXT and start there. If it works without all the junk, then the problem is with your EXT's somewhere. If it still doesn't work then it could be in the OEMdriver folder (driver related). The last resort is that something in this build simply conflicts with the drivers you are using somewhere. My bet is the EXT packages.

Its an ETEN x500, i have done loads of previous builds before and all worked fine. I used the same kitchen today but like i say i can't get it out of sleep? I thought maybe something in my kitchen got screwed up so i created another one using a safe zip copy i have and then imported 23081 again but exactly the same thing so its something i have enabled or disabled wrong in 23081. I have just flashed back to my old 23071 build and its fine so i know the x500 is ok?

Any idea's???

Nope, the kitchen is ervius vk adapted specifically for my device (by Rugal, eten-users), all patches etc are for eten (acer now own them). I never put in welcomecentre and always have used netcf3.7 without problems. Absolutely nothing has changed in my kitchen for at least the last 3 or 4 build releases when i updated showcase and the ext stuff i enabled today, i always enable.
I (think) i did disable all ext stuff earlier to rule it out (built sooooo many today can't be certain!), and like i say, the oem stuff is from a guaranteed safe backup kitchen i zipped up a few builds ago just in case so they are fine.

I use Dump Sort by tehPengiun works great. Visual style and you can just select Ervius Kitchen format.

Hi again... Here's where i'm at:

I have built 23081 and everything works - wireless/text/apps etc etc etc but after the phone goes to sleep, it won't wake up or ring when a call comes etc, i have to reset the phone.

I used a safe copied kitchen from a few months ago and tried again - same thing. Then i removed ALL my EXT stuff and tried both kitchens, old and safe copy - same problem. Then i removed all EXT stuff and ALL device patches, all extra sys stuff and did a VERY, VERY light build, booted fine but when it went asleep - would't wake up!
So i thought maybe my drivers are corrupted so i built a new 23071 which was already in my kitchen and it works PERFECTLY so my drivers are OK.
At this stage i have ruled out my oem stuff/drivers/ext files - only things different between working 23071 and NOT working 23081 is the sys files. I have tried the rollup package AND the all dpi package so what else can i try????????

Any suggestions?

I have an invers problem with my 23081 build. It never goes to sleep on its own. I always have to press power button. Not sure if it is a build issue or a software issue, so am flashing 23502 as I type this.
Also, the MSXIPKernel for 23502 says 23501. If anyone wants the edited .dsm to make it read 23502 here you go.
PS Can someone PM me about HEX editing shellres.0409.dll.mui to customize? I managed to edit someones preedited one, but I am unsure of how to add my own lines. I am using Hex Toolbox I think.

I also have used other of the extra buttons for the batch files to auto-recmod that I published before.


This makes life soooooo easy :) - Pity my Nike is dead and my insomnia ROM is no more :(:( - well I guess I wait for a HD2 kitchen :)

Anyone know how to resurect a phone that won't flash - stops at either 71%, 85% or 99% depending what ROM I try - maybe I can bring my Nike back :) - Are they worth sending to HTC for a repair (not under warranty - pay for the repair)?

- Insert the build number of the SYS. (the files will be moved to SYS\buildnumber)
- Press enter and wait until the work finish.

Usage (to auto-recmod a existing build):

You can use the batch file sys2evk.cmd alone. The syntax is:
sys2evk.cmd inputfolder [kitchenfolder] [buildnumber]

I coded this batch thinking on vk, so it moves the files to the final vk path. But I can edit it for you so if not kichen path is specified it keeps the sorted files in the input folder.

Just wanted to share a particular menu enhancement package. I haven't been able to get any other ones to work with the new 6.5.x builds (not even the newest Leo ones!) however this one has always worked for me and I tried it in 23053 and wallah! Success.

There is a registry key to control the display of the message on the today screen, it has been around since early betas of WM6... the key is either "Today" or "Beta" i cant remember it off the top of my head, but if you poke thru the registry or search for old threads regarding this being displayed on the today screen, should find the key

I can turn the screen on and off just fine, but starting this morning it is doing the exact same thing you are seeing. I've hard reset a few times and it's screwed.

All I changed was my SYS and MSXipKernel folders to match the new build. 23071 was fine. Use whats good. This isn't worth fighting just to have the Device Info read a new number. I'm using 23502 right now. I just used my DPI RES folders from 23081, and the rest from 23502. I'm not seeing any power problems. My phone is recovering from sleep just fine.

Cant open Device Information it just keeps loading.

Initflashfiles.dat doesnt seem to be used so no links for my camera are made.

Tested 23071 and its working in 23071.

I switched over to the old school lock and now I don't have that wake up issue. I blame the school system and the buggy wm 6.5 lock hehe

i will wait for next build... i doubt it has a driver issue, i think it is the build it self as other users reported it on different devices... i think MS is trying to improve battery drain (maybe messing with gwes.exe?) and this is causing freezing/wakup issue

Well I have a Topaz and its the same. I also didn't have the problem with 23071. And I don't have the issue with 23502. They're all using the same kitchen... same OEM, ROM, and EXT folder.

23081 = failure.

Not worth the fight. Even with 23081 worked, it seemed graphics were very slow. I use Pocket Uno and Touch Alarm... both crawled using 23081. Not an issue with other builds.

23081 is bad on too many levels in my case. Nothing in 23081 warrants me wasting anymore time on it.

Also had same wake up issue on my CDMA Diamond never had it before. i've enabled the magnifier and unchecked password for lockscreen and everything seems to work fine after i did those two, i'm not saying that this fixed it but after i did those 2 i haven't had a single lockup or blank screen.

Procedure

The following procedure will change the current DataCacheSize value of 4MB to 8MB.

I realize hilaireg is discussing an older build but do you all find that the more recent 230xx filesystem drivers are good enough to leave on "0" - Auto (CacheSize, DataCacheSize, and FatCacheSize).

-Does it depend on how many things you were able to module?
-Or does it depend on type of Apps? I mean a few weeks ago I went and threw in the EnableDataCacheWarm=1 on one of the "slower" builds and that Old Reg entry helped GarminMobile XT search it's database for roads faster.

Hey utak3r, Don't know what you've done with your 23081 but i like it!! I downloaded the Da_G releases but i had trouble with phone not waking up after it went to sleep. I downloaded your build and its working fine - phone now wakes up!
Also, with the build i downloaded from Da_G (first page), it had the GUI attached here as pic1, but with your release the GUI is like pic2 (which i like, by the way i have added a few plugins for the clock etc). This GUI was in a release a few builds ago but how have you got it in this one when the Ga_G release didn't have it?

Can anyone tell me how to get the GUI from picture 1 back, i've gone through the themes and all are in the style of picture 2 - obviously the GUI settings have been changed by my restore but what are they so i can change them back?

That actually looks like a broken theme. The wallpaper is the default_stwater.gif and it's not using the buttons for the softkey bar.

Yep that words in today screen can bee usefull when you dont do you own stwater.jpg for your own theme, in that case you can write in the name you want... as you... i set it acording to mine, like other does.

Do you have sk tools or something similar? Try searching for over-written rom files (and make sure to include *.cpr in the list of extensions searched). Maybe there's one or two .cpr files that were over-written that will teach you how to break the theme, lol. In a similar vein, I think it was build 23001 that didn't have the shadowing in the start menu. That was my favorite start menu ever! Wish I could figure how to mess that up (and like a dumbass, I deleted that build after I moved on-guess I could re-download it).

It's definitely just the buttons missing from your theme.

Your SPB backup probably has all your PNG files from your previous \Windows\ folders in it and is restoring them. Hence why the theme elements are being replaced upon restoring the back up.

\SYS\23081\DPI_192\COMMON\Base_DPI_192 - That's where all the PNGs for the themes / soft key bars are, find and replace as you please to edit the theme. Obviously if you want that 'blank' looking theme in future then you'll need to delete the button backgrounds or edit the image and delete all the content, so it's just a transparent button.

EDIT: Or as above follow utak3r's instructions as your provxml probably differs to his :)

Just get your provxml file from your backup and everything will be allright.

Hey utak3r, dickenz, Farmer Ted, Thanks to you all for your help with this. I do like the 'no buttons' look in utak3r settings. I thought it was a theme DUH! OK, i'm going to follow utak3r's advice and edit the *.xml file, if that doesn't do it then i will get rid/replace the *.png files. Now i know how to 'break' it, i may do it with all builds!!!
My phone has hardware buttons for the 'soft key' options so i wish MS would give us an option to put the start menu back on top bar and hide bottom bar (using hardware keys instead) as i'd prefer to have the screen space back.

Not sure what devices you guys have but you are welcome to the use the QVGA 23081 XIP+SYS bundle (WWE+FRA) I have done for my Trinity/P3600i users:

Other than deleting the additional ROM folders for Trinity/P3600i, the only other issue I can think of is that this SYS has been recmod'ed to suit a WM6.1 NK (empty Slot0 & full Slot1 VM). I have also deleted MSTag (our camera is not 2MP) and all WindowsLive packages (since we just replace with newer version from SkyMarket anyway).

Oh and also deleted MSIMAR, BTH_Watch and replaced SQM with SQM_Dummy (though I doubt you wanted any of those).

Anyway, you are welcome to them if that helps :)

If you cooked in HTC Notification Enchancement, you must tap at the area where "X" was previously located.

If found the problem. It will not work with Manila enabled. With Titanium it works ok. I have no Magnifier but that is a reg setting to turn that on.

Thay's not a folder, it's the games folder icon.lnk. Soft reset, and it should disappear.

I just use the same init...dat over and over again. I stick it in an ext that runs late. That way, I get no surprises. Just grab it out of the dump or windows folder of a working build. You need to edit it, though, if you add nes start items.

I've had a look at your mxipcold_wpc_2.provxml file and comapred it to an original one. There are only two lines different, pointing to jpg files which don't exist.

I tried installing fingerkb from a cab and it installs and configures just fine but I am stuck with the basic keyboard, even using SIP Change doesn't allow me to switch. I also tried the fingerkb package posted on utak3r's 4shared and cooking it in but still no dice. Am I doing something wrong?

Depending on what type of switch you are dealing with.

"Enable" = 0 (00000000) would mean disabled.
"Enable" = 1 (00000001) would mean enabled.

Now say it said "Disable" instead of "Enable" then...

"Disable" = 0 (00000000) would mean enabled.
"Disable" = 1 (00000001) would mean disabled.

I remember reading something about that and I believe you press and hold on the keyboard icon for it to come up to switch.

Could always change the default SIP (input method) from Input options in settings.

it depends also on your packets if you cook in, htc leo lockscreen, like the man who asked before could have that problem if you do not have that in you initflashfiles
Maybe one of your packages contains something like a .provxml that do the same thing that these strings do in initflashfiles...
But that issue is tipical.
as i wrote before ...thanks to ervius and other people providing kitchen almost ready, many are approaching to cook, and many are asking why their manila or other packages does not start... simply look the initiflashfiles if the ringtones, the wallpaper, the xml etc are not in the right directory it's normal ... :D

BTW as you mentioned before it's better to add it into provxml and put into htc lockscreen package because those entries would be useless if he will decide to make rom without htc lockscreen.

Hmmm.... delayedExec... definitely gotta try that one when I get the chance. But I believe the issue is beyond that given that even installing the app fresh from a cab still don't let me use it at all. It installs, configures, but when I try to change it using various methods (SIP Change, Start>Settings>Personal>Input, or changing it by holding down the button and selecting it on the poop-up) still doesn't actually change the SIP to the finger keyboard.

If I cook a rom using a previous build (23071 using Ivan's SuperJustKitchen) I don't have this issue.

My next idea would be to manually install NETCF after cooking to see if maybe perhaps it's that.

I went with 3.5 since that's the official release from m$. In cooking I've tried every version available in the kitchen, 2.0, 2.5, 2.5 & 3.5 hybrid, 3.5 and 3.7, as well as the one packaged with the release. So this time around I cooked something up without any NetCF. Manually installed it, then manually installed that SIP I'm lightly obsessing over and I still get the same issue. So uh where to go from here???

Yea, I normally use 3.5 and when the SIP didn't take I figured "try something else" now I'm just out of ideas

This is because HTC WM6.5 builds are starting to put the lockscreen files in a folder within Windows. There is a registry key that redirects Windows to look for the lockscreen files in this folder.

If you just cook in the stock Lockscreen files in the \Windows folder (like they normally are)... it won't find them because the registry is now pointed to \Windows\Lockscreen.

Delete the registry entry from one of the RGU files... or just cook in your own redirect that points it back to Windows. I pulled that crap out of my initflashfiles.dat and deleted that reg entry in the OEM .rgu file. This way I can cook my new SYS builds like normal and have the lockscreen cpr files in the Windows Directory like we originally had them.

If you don't have all the connection correct (using the \Windows\lockscreen folder or the default \Windows location) you'll be presented with the old lockscreen.

I have this problem from the early builds of WM6.5.
It refuses to accept the third digit.
There is no problem with font size or any resources. The control that they are using for IP Address has some bugs in it.

...xtract and copy the attachment using Resco Explorer or Total Commander to your \windows directory to overwrite the existing file, then soft reset... you can now input 3 digits...cheers!:)

BTW: if you want to include this to your kitchen, copy the file to SHARED\0409\Base_Lang_0409... but delete first the module before you copy...

I have this weird problem at the moment.

I cant get my WWE rom to work.
My NLD rom works fine. Same as build 23071 in WWE.

The problem is that the NLD version boots fine WWE only has a white screen and text no images.

What I tried, using an unedited initflashfiles.dat.

I already have recmodded stuff.

NLD has 0 in slot 0 264 in slot1 WWE has 0 in slot 0 and 265 in slot 1 thats the only difference.

What else can I do?
