how to fix messages like this?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=243909&d=1257523373

I just added the Quickgps and FMradio of the HTC mega but cant start em.

I also added Device Info, is this one better than MSses?

It always overwrites the HTC one with MSses even though i have deleted it. Is it somewhere in the sys or something? Hidden?

thanx in advance

replace the shell32.exe only in that case

ummm... I would think that if I replace shell32.exe with the one from the last build that let you disable kinetic scrolling, that that would cause other problems/incompatibilities, no?

I've searched and asked around, but nobody knows the answer to my problems:

1) In every COM2 build, tapping on the battery icon does nothing. I can't go to the ower settings. I tried cooking with large title bar installed, but even in that the battery icon just doesn't show up!

2) I also cannot install any keyboards like fingerkeyboard. The software installs, but when I go to switch to fingerkeyboard, it stays on as the default keyboard.

Any help please? I'm kinda desperate :(

Thanks!
1) Are you including a power package? You need one for that link to do something.

2)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]
"DefaultIm"="{C03755DF-3EE7-41DF-AE5E-3FBBCA603F1A}"
But instead of C03755DF-3EE7-41DF-AE5E-3FBBCA603F1A, use whatever your keyboard is.

Hello, regarding blacklight, eh been doing some testing, and uh blacklight.dll and installed my original HTCUtil.dll Diamond with its configuration, the fact is that turn off automatic windows and put the value I want from blacklight but this only applies when you Softreset. They know how I can make it work in sync with the scroll bar without having to Softreset?

Thanks

1) Are you including a power package? You need one for that link to do something.

2)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]
"DefaultIm"="{C03755DF-3EE7-41DF-AE5E-3FBBCA603F1A}"
But instead of C03755DF-3EE7-41DF-AE5E-3FBBCA603F1A, use whatever your keyboard is.

Thanks for your reply :)

No, I don't think I've included a power package. Which one do you suggest I'd use for the Artemis? I've never included it because before this I never needed to..

And the second solution, i didn't understand. I'm a rookie. So if you could simplify? :o

Either search for one, or you can wait until I release my SuperJustKitchen v0.7 since it will have Artemis support. ;) It will have a few versions of the power package included as well as some keyboards built-in.
The registry key is for your EXT package. You must add it to your app.reg (or your RGU if you're using the older OEM type of package.) In that app.reg or RGU, you will find a series of numbers. You have to use those numbers instead of the ones I provided.

Hey guys, just wondering but have you guys ever looked into using an online file sharing tool like Dropbox to collaborate on your kitchens? I see a lot of requests of people missing files, cooks not having the latest and/or most stable OEMs, many people looking into the same bugs and solutions once found might not be known to everyone so duplicate work is performed, etc.

I'm not a cook so perhaps I'm missing some pieces of the puzzle as to why nothing like this is going on. Too many files spread across folders that are customized by each cook? Do the kitchen tools let you store the core build files and OEMs seperately from a cook's customizations so at least those can be synced up?

Dropbox looks like it could work well. 2GB free for each account. Maybe a new account for each kitchen. Or a new account for each device so everything stays together.

You can make folders shareable and open them up to others whom you invite and provide access to. It does have some security flaws since you can't prevent others from modifying what's in your shared folder. But if invites are personally given out to cooks that can be trusted I'm sure this will be fine. I believe Dropbox has version control so if someone makes a mistake you can go back.

For new cooks whom no one is familiar with can just download a weekly dump of the kitchen from RS or another file share website until they can prove to be trustworthy.

Another approach. I also have a fairly empty dedicated server that I don't mind sharing on a trial basis. Not sure what kind of bandwidth you guys will end up needing and how many users will be interested in using. It has webDAV webdisk feature that could work. Use a free tool like ToySync or SyncBack Free to synchronize the kitchen on the webdesk with your local hard drive version.

Just throwing out ideas. I know you guys work so hard in providing our devices these major upgrades and though something like this could help free up your time.

There are many different devices, so you'd have to have a HUGE storage space for all the different OEM's, SYS's and EXT packages. Even my lowly SuperJustKitchen with support for the herald, artemis, opal and hermes is massive. We're talking at the bare minimum 1GB for JUST the English language. Not to mention, it would take away what makes each cook unique, the little changes that each person adds itself.
I tried using a dropbox-like system to synchronize my SuperJustKitchen around v0.2 and all it did was slow me down since it had to synchronize everything and it would randomly try to sync things WHILE I was cooking, effectively breaking things.

People already make kitchens for the non-cooks and the first time cooks, just find one that is made for your device and download it. There's no need to reinvent the wheel.

Please explain a little more?

If XIPPorterEx doesn't work, search for "dumprom.exe" (beware! There're two different tools of that name!), get your new xip.bin and do:

\> dumprom xip.bin

This will create a directory "XIP" with its content, plus few small *.bin files, like romhdr.bin file for example.

After that, just remove all the device specific files and folders from XIP directory and copy those from your device. For more help read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438676

Better than Dropbox would be for a Chef to have a public SVN Server because:

SVN has permissioning (eg anonymous users are read only)
SVN allows you to control what is checked in and what isn't
SVN has version control
Ervius's kitchen is designed to ignore SVN folders
If you turn on compression in Apache, you can get some serious bandwidth saving (at the cost of CPU time)

The disadvantages of this is that an SVN server is not anonymous (as opposed to a random Rapidshare or Dropbox account) and whomever is hosting the server would require some serious bandwidth

The only thing I'd be worried about is that MS already had us take down our FTP server when it was used to store ROMs and other MS code. Having another repository is like having a large target sign. It draws too much attention. But I do like the idea. I could always expand SuperJustKitchen to be like this. Then get train people to be as precise and obsessive as I am when stripping OEM's and release them each to work on one device... This would work... hmm...

Help needed on batch conversion of modules to files.

I used EVK (old &/or new) to accomplish that but I can only succeed by converting one module at a time. I've read some tips on dragging the modules to RecMod.exe or module-2-file.exe but nothing happens except for a momentary DOS window pop up. I have both Visual C++ Redist & .Net Framework 3.5 installed in PC, what else am I missing?

Thanks in advance. My poor Elfin responds better if SYS are not all RecModed so, I need to reverse mod some. :(

If your dragging them to RecMod you can only do one module at a time like that. Multi conversion won't work. Also when you use RecMod the module you Modded will have the file within the module folder. For example if you drag the folder beam.exe over RecMod then it will create the file beam.exe in that folder. As for reverse modding I can't help you there.

Hmmm, I'm lost again too.

23088 = com3 branch
23506 = com5 branch

and what are the differences between these branches.
I know 218** branch was the conservative branch and 230** was the experimental branch (with new startbutton layout and dropdown taskbar).
But nowadays I do not have the overview anymore.
I myself do not notice any difference between 230** and 235** branches...

It's difficult but Microsoft mostly has different COM trees which are active. All those branches / trees focus on a certain aspect of the OS and remain active even after the OS has been released.

For the 6.x build there are 5 active COM trees. The oldest (COM1) is the active development tree for 6.1, but it does not spawn many new builds as the focus is now WinMo 6.5.

COM2 and COM3 share the same base, but after build 23017 the COM3 tree branched off and got the 'new' layout. At this point COM2 remained the active development tree for 6.5 and spawns updates regularly (fixes the current released 6.5 build of Windows Mobile).

COM3 up to build 23088 is the tryout build for the new layout of Windows Mobile (replaces start menu, dropdown taskbar, etc.). This build is very experimental and contains many bugs. It will be around for another couple of weeks when it will probably be terminated and integrated into COM5, but I'll get to that.

COM4 the branch, 234xx, is the (in)active OS development branch. It focusses on updating the main Windows OS (Win CE 5.2). It is known for it's new Outlook interface. It's currently uknown (to me) if it's still active, but it hasn't got any updates in the past few weeks. The Outlook updates have been coorporated into the COM3 branch.

COM5 is the branch starting with 235xx, and contains at this point nothing new. It's unknown what the main focus is, but it is likely to replace COM3 and COM4 and integrate all the changes uptill now. This means the other COM trees will die off and become active once the OS get's released (as was the case with COM 2 and COM3)...

Hmmm, I'm lost again too.

23088 = com3 branch
23506 = com? branch

and what are the differences between these branches.
I know 218** branch was the conservative branch and 230** was the experimental branch (with new startbutton layout and dropdown taskbar).
But nowadays I do not have the overview anymore.
I myself do not notice any difference between 230** and 235** branches...

Anybody knows more???

ouch, my bad. For 23506 there were no vk ready download yet. Sorry.

Also 23506 and 23088 are out....anyone know which is newer? Which is worth cooking?

Read a post above... it's hard to choose from - personally I'm using 218xx line.

Search for RecMonCommon. It will convert ALL the necessary files in ONE click. (Well, sometimes you have to run it three or four times for some reason.)

true, I was using 23071 for a week or so, and haven't had any problems with it.

These builds were released at the same time, yes... although the one from COM3 is more mature, I don't know, how far they went with COM5 yet - I would wait few weeks before diving into it...

That's correct, but I can't tell you which is 'newer' in terms of experimental things. Last time build 23071 and 23502 where 'the same', but 23502 was way more optimised. The same goes for 23081 and 23504 and I guess for 23088 and 23506. For now the COM5 build is the same as the COM3 build but is always released a couple of days later and a little 'faster'. But as COM5 is relatively new, I can't tell you what it's focus is and will be, for now hold of the COM5 till something more pops up. (Or try it and search for the new 'stuff', for now I haven't found any!)

Did you include 'AutoVolumeControl'? This will reset your volume everytime you get a call. If you use an incompatible VolumeControl (like the Leo one, not sure about the Mega one) it will reset to it's default value everytime you receive a call. The fix is quite easy, disable AutoVolumeControl and if you use the Leo Phone Canvas (or possibly the Mega Phone Canvas) you shouldn't notive any difference.

Newer ROMs do not include it anymore, it's an EXT package from all devices up to the Topaz/Rhodium v6.1. After that it has been retired and integrated into the phone canvas. So if you don't have it it's not included into the ROM. Also that key indeed points to the InCall volume, if you put in any higher value it should increase. However it has set values, but I don't know them as I let it be controlled by the HTC Volume Control. I think it can be increased in steps of 3. So 000000, 333333, 666666, 999999, cccccc and ffffff, with 000000 being 'silent' and ffffff being 'loud'.

It's difficult but Microsoft mostly has different COM trees which are active. All those branches / trees focus on a certain aspect of the OS and remain active even after the OS has been released....

That should be the correct behaviour for all WM releases (WM 2003SE, WM5.0, WM6.0, WM6.1, WM6.5 and etc).

Your device should suspend itself when you press the power button, else something is wrong. For the device to check for emails or do any scheduled task. Normally an event is set up, which causes WM to wake up (the screen stays off, unless it is a very bad app). It would check for emails and then suspend the device again.

However there are such apps like ArcSoft MMS (newer version) which handles the power button. When it is sending MMS, if you press the power button, it would intercept by just turning off the display and continue sending the MMS. When it is done, it would suspend the device.

programatix, thanks for the reply. I guess you're right as I must have flashed 6 different WM 6.5 stock rom builds (including older ones from July) and all exhibit the same behavior. I never really paid much attention to this aspect as I only recently added a data plan. For some reason my last build/rom didn't have this issue as I like to initiate a send/receive, turn off the screen, and then put the phone in my breast pocket. If it vibrates, then I know I have an email otherwise I don't bother to check it. Still, I am worried that the periodic checks specified in outlook (e.g. check every 15 minutes) is not waking the device to check for mail as I've tested this by leaving messages on my gmail accounts and the phone fails to retrieve these messages after hours of idling.

Hello,

First time ported WinMo 6.5.1 ( 23084 ) build to my FUZE. Its really and wonderful.

1. Lockscreen ( Screen01 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=244588&d=1257747770) ) : An Appointment icon is displayed but doesn't work when clicked. The height of the bottom bar is more bigger then it used to be. Any idea how to fix this?

I'm using HTC Lockscreen, no idea about default lockscreen. I also try to disable the visibility of Appointment icon in lockscreen cpl but didn't work :(

2. USB To PC ( Screen02 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=244589&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1257747770) ) : When I connect my phone to pc, usb to pc popUp comes up, I select active sync, the popup goes away but in title bar connect to pc is showed.

Same problem when I open usb to pc from settings and close.

Help me if you can...
Thanks in advance...

If you are just putting the device in standby mode and not powering off and you are using push email, then you should be getting your emails when the device is in standby. I have never had any problem with Outlook working with my exchange server and the device being in standby mode. I still get the emails when they come.

You might check your schedule options in activesync to make sure that you have it set to receive items as they arrive and make sure your peak times are set properly.

I'm not using push email:
I'm putting the device in standby by hitting the top power button. I use outlook to get email through gmail via IMAP and have outlook automatically (or at least it should) check every 30 minutes or so. I use nuevasync to sync contacts and calendar, but not email, via activesync, which is set as "as items arrive."

A send/receive call isn't as efficient as push email set to receive items as they arrive, but still outlook should be able to check on it own when the device is in standby.

Yes, me. Somebody posted a fix a couple of pages back. I haven't tried it yet (no time) but you might want to give that a go and see if it helps. As of now that's the only known fix.

Search for RecMonCommon. It will convert ALL the necessary files in ONE click. (Well, sometimes you have to run it three or four times for some reason.)
Thanks ivanmmj. Found it in PPCG & ED forums. Sure would do mod2file conversion by batch although it gives you less control over what to convert unless the script is edited. Anyway, GBU 2 for always sharing. :)

use pe explorer to run a dependency scan on the exe...but alot of fm radios are device specific so it may not work anyways.

I saw that fix too a couple of pages back, but can't remember where. Try to search this thread using keyword: "keyboard" and the post by ivanmmj. You'll find the fix there. Had that problem too on build 2307x but it got away since building 23081!

You're leaving out one of the key EXT packages, maybe concurrence manager or something like that. Here are the quick gps dependencies. Just figure out which dll you're missing, then include the package. It will probably fix the radio, too.

QuickGPS.exe
- verinfou2.dll Ref: 1
- quickgps.exe.0409.mui Ref: 1
- wininet.dll.0409.mui Ref: 1
- wininet.dll Ref: 1
- shutil.dll Ref: 1
- commctrl.dll.0409.mui Ref: 3
- commctrl.dll Ref: 3
- aygshell.dll Ref: 5
- ossvcs.dll Ref: 2
- cellcore.dll Ref: 1
- oleaut32.dll Ref: 3
- shlwapi.dll.0409.mui Ref: 2
- shlwapi.dll Ref: 2
- coredll.dll.0409.mui Ref: 12
- ole32.dll Ref: 7
- coredll.dll Ref: 12

Edit: Looking at your fm radio dependencies, I bet you're missing aygshell.dll.

I do have aygshell.dll in Common/Shell

I also have a little problem with the Comm manager package, I got it working :p

but when I start it, it stays white for 5 seconds. then it shows evreything right. I only edited the app.reg to have Wlan enabled.

ill check the other dlls aswell

edit: seems I am missing resloader.dll, will add the proxy resource package and test if its working :p

You definitely need concurrence; there are a few other weird-sounding ones you need, too, like mhub, dshow and things with similar names. If you didn't have concurrence, then that is probably the source of the issue.

Concurrence manager just has a dll (or maybe several, don't have it with me) that is key for several different apps. I guess they don't put it in one single package (like quick gps or the radio), because then you'd have to include that package in the build to get everything working. So it's basically a random module with it's own package and a weird name. My general rule of thumb is that if I look at the package name, and I don't know what the hell it does, then I leave it in until I read here that it isn't necessary.

I couldn't tell you off the top of my head if you're missing anything else.

Edit: found an old build log-here are some of the packages I have in my EXT:

BootLauncher_1_0_19152530_1
BTBPP_1_6_5_0
BTFtp_1_2_33281_9
BTSAP_3_1_0_0R2
ConcurrenceMgr_1_1_18143521_0000
DShow_2_00_081105_0
HTCFontLink_1_0_19123429_2
HTCSDKVTCodec_QVP_ATT_1_0_31054_0
mHub_6_54_080529_E0
SensorSDK_3_3_18182326_1
ShareDLL_2.0.070522.0000
SmartTouch_1_0_19141827_0

I think that concurrence, dshow and mhub are the main ones that get left out a lot (and maybe sharedll).

So far, nobody is able to convert it to OEM yet (as far as I know). I come close to it but alas, it still doesn't work.

Anyway, what you need to do is to convert the CAB to package first. Then you'll find another cab in that package (Location service thing... forgot the name). Move it out from the package and convert it to package too. Now include both the packages in your kitchen. The problem is, you can also go until page 3 (during setting up My Phone). Without the second cab, you can't even start My Phone.

I'm guessing there would be missing registry entry, because there is a setup file in the package... but so far has not find out anything related to that. Maybe it has something to do with the language files since the language files can also be found in the package.

Btw, Leo rom has new My Phone package in it, but I haven't try cooking it in yet to see if is working.
