its better you to see the setting on the phone pad and disable the go to sleep during a phone call or... use phone canvas it has a cover to not touch other buttons whe speaking that way you can tap on the screnn to bring it on and dont touch any option :rolleyes:

Is there a Phone Canvas for 128DPI QVGA - CDMA?

HTC task manager is not responsible for the X spot in the top right corner in the older builds. it was windows.
its responsible for the task manager interface and the quick menu at home.

the X was always handled by shell32. and still is with 23xxx. only option is if there is a hiddden reg switch that we donno that turn off this "feature" or showcase to work properly :)
personally i hope showcase to work....:)

That is how Microsoft designed WM. It is not suppose to close any apps. Instead it would close unused apps on its own when the device is low on ram (of course, sometimes with lots of warning).

Most 3rd party apps (this include HTC Task Manager) monitor a certain location on the screen to handle the close action mainly because WM does not provide any event for that. Until WM with new interface is released, nobody would come out with any apps to do that (monitoring the lower right area for close action), except those who make it for free like amarullz.

So for now, you can either wait until WM 6.5 (new interface) is released, beg amarullz to help fix his great app or write your own.

There is a registry entry which close programs on tap&hold if the value is 1.
It works fine for me.

Also, for Bonus points, why is there a 0x00040000 gap between ROM 0 and ROM 1

The answer is both: The OemXipKernal portion from the device, the MSXipKernal portion from the sys.

This is the size reported by PRB, each module (or dll) in XIP is rounded up to a "page" size (I don't remember what size, sorry). You can't look at the size of xip.bin alone.

I am also not sure if EK will later remove the gaps between sections (but I think it does). Look at the next section of your build log, if you use EK.

I, also wonder if we can (or need to) change the sizes of these in romhdr.bin to eliminate wasted space. I know that changing the size of RAM in romhdr.bin has no effect on the final device ram. I think nk.exe does ram size on it's own.

Hello, these are some screens of my rom 23081 (very 0416) and am having a problem of having only this icon in the start menu. Look at the icons are in the folder start menu just does not appear in the main menu. Does anyone know what can be?

DRM - digital rights media - just delete it. The same with ADC - if you don't use autoconfig (as me) - delete it straight.

Vibration for Mega Phone Canvas might be missing might be caused by unmatched Shared_Modules is used. It might also be caused by incomplete registry entry in Shared_Modules. Never tried that before but it is true for Rodhium Phone Canvas.

Device hangs normally solved by 'recmod'ing modules to files.

Try to create dir \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and copy all links from your screenshot to that folder. If you get usual honeycomb menu after that, than it´s certainly initflashfiles.dat problem. Also, it could be a lang files incompatibility issue, but most likely initflashfiles.dat

I try this and... :( unfortunately did not work... :mad:
I did two tests: I created the folders and copied them and initflash 0409 and soft reset. And after 0416 again initflash and none changed the outcome after soft reset. %$¨% I don't know make more.

From the very beggining, For start menu icons: These from 0409, you must translate to your laguage.

In Initflashes, find these:

Directory("\Windows"):-PermDir("Start Menu")
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu"):-PermDir("Programs")


Make sure ALL the references to 'programs' are the same folder:
The \x00?? are just wide character text in hex translate here (http://home2.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/) Paste in HEX:. My example is "Pictures & Videos.lnk"

Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"):-File("Alarms.lnk","\Windows\msalarms.lnk")

Make sure your rom contains all the 'lnk' files listed.
eg: msalarms.lnk must be in the rom, Alarms.lnk will be created in the start menu using this file.

Search your kitchen, make sure only your intended initflashes.txt is included in the rom, and no other files try and create the start menu folders. Some EXT's will assume the english versions of these.

Search your kitchen for the english versions, translate them to your language. (...office.provxml, etc.)

Search rom for:

Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\

Make sure there are no duplicate/missing entries

Compare these to initflashes.dat (rank and/or ItemPosition gives the location, highest at the top, group is the sub-folder it goes into) Mine are in an app.dat file, yours should be in ...startmenu_001.provxml.

Hey Thunichgud, sorry i did know that (its friday, my lights are on but nobody is home LOL). Ok, you use the KVA_v900 tools from here http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showtopic=16302 (you've probably already got them) and extract out the xip.bin, then use xipport.exe to exttract out the MSXIPKernel and the OEMXIP stuff (basically, dump the xip.bin and then build packages). If you need any help, PM me at eten-users.

Hey Thunichgud, Not sure if theres a 'one button solution' for the v900 extraction. I use kva tools to extract out the main components then cyrils dat2fat/fattool etc to then pull the bits for evk. See this page: http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showtopic=13131&st=0&p=75698&#entry75698 Like i say, you need to extract the xip.bin then you get the oemxip from that.

Thanks for the feedback. Tried that one and 2.9.5 but still no go. The only one working is the built-in WM6.5 wireless manager, but I cant get Manila 2D to update weather.

Interestingly, my camera works! It's a pity, this build gives more memory at startup and is snappier than 23088!

I cooked up 23075 and everything seems to be fine except that I don't get the auto config to run on first power up. This runs to set up the network settings (for internet). When I go to settings->connections->connections the link to "Automatically configure connection" is not there either.

I tried to compare all of the files from my previous build (23071) but could not find anything....

Can someone help me understand what I did wrong?

You're missing the ConnectionSetup package (should be in EXT, not SYS)

Also, I believe that the ADC package in SYS has similar functionality (although I prefer ConnectionSetup myself)

Nice to know that you fixed cam problem. I don't have the same luck with my WiFi problem. Built-in WinMo wireless manager works but, as Manila 2D v2 from Mega are tightly coupled the home tab weather update just won't work. :(

You have an OK button if you choose "Compose Message" from the Messaging Client rather than in the Manila interface. One of the Menu options is also "Discard", which takes you to the previous screen.

Make sure your Rich20 package is enabled in the SYS/Common. That's required for SMS to function.

Yes, Message Enhancements is the same thing. Don't use it with any of the newer builds.

Give this cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1257991858) a shot. Sounds like you installed something that disabled the default editor/reader.

i recently cooked Build 21609 for E-TEN Glofiish M800 and it says that there is no gsm reciever and so the telephone function is disabled. Does anyone experience the same problem even with another device than a E-TEN Glofiish M800???

I'm using 23089 on both a Touch HD and Elfin, and I found a glitch with Esmertec Jbed. If you are in Opera Mini and enter the inline editing mode (e.g. enter a URL), and then exit out of the editing mode, the bottom menu of Opera Mini shifts down a little bit so that you can barely see the entire menu headers. Same problem happens with other java apps installed on Jbed. Anyone else see this? I'm using the 20090217_5_1R2 version of Jbed.

I am using sys/zip 23088 on my Omnia and cannot change/save notification settings. After a hard reset or flash, I go into the phone options and change short tones to off and hit OK but nothing happens, same goes for email/txt notifications.

k, with the stock rom when you got an incoming call, above the slide to answer/ignore bar it would tell you the state the call was coming from based on the area code. With any rom i create in pretty much any kitchen i try it does not seem to work any more. Instead the area where the state should be listed says "Slide to answer/ignore" instead. Anyone know what controls this action or how to get it working again. I have dug through the registry and all the location codes are there but still not working :( this is a sprint touch pro2 btw

You need to edit mxipinit_startmenu_001.provxml file. You should change the rank values to bring the items you need to the top.

Take a look at the registry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start. Look for the shortcut you wanted and modify/add a dword value "Rank". The larger the value, the higher it is in the list.

Hi,

i am sorry for asking this questioon again. I cook my own WM6.5 Build 21609 for a E-TEN Glofiish M800 device. The ROM is working but it doesn't find radio so i coudn't use phone function. No PIN Request, no entry in Connection Wizard, no telephone function. Is there something special in SYS or XIP???

A week ago i tried a self cooked ROM with WM6.5 Build 23502 on my device. It is working too and the radio was found so i could use the telephone function. But Glofiish M800 has only 64 MB of RAM and so the free RAM left with this rom is only 4-5 MB and this is too less. So the Build 21609 was really good because it has öeft 15-20 MB of free RAM with M800.

Does anyone experiencing the same problem even it was another build and/or device and has a solution for this??? How to debug??? How to fix it???

Maybe remove fexplore.exe from SYS? But maybe not a good idea because I think most applications use it when selecting files and such. I would just remove the .lnk from start menu if I were you.

I have the same thing on my Topaz. I think its a Notification Manager issue. My taskbar icon shows 1% but the little icon in the Notification Manager is 10%.

Just remove the fexplorer shortcut from initflashfiles.dat. If you remove the exe itself, I am sure it will cause some error or the other.

Removing fexplore.exe only saves you 30 Kb of memory. I kind of doubt that it's worth it, given that it may cause other bugs to appear. I'd just delete the shortcut from the kitchen.

I can confirm that. Notification from Tachi, Rhodium and Topaz only show incrementation of 10%. Leo Notification however is able to display an increment of 1%. The problem is, it is hardcoded to be 800x480. Actually everything works fine, except the Alarm notification. For all other notification, it displays well.

Remove it from BaseApps. It will NOT break anything else, I never include it. I use Rescoe Explorer

I want to open email(tooks 2-4sec to open it)
Make new message(tooks 2-4sec to open it)

Same problem was with all other builds, can i somehow improve this?

It's great having 23089 with the X button on the bottom, I don't think I can ever go back to the COM2 branch again, even if 23xxx is buggy!

Speaking of bugs, I've managed to get my Touch HD working with 23089 but I've hit a wall in trying to solve the issues.

I am using Topaz WM6.5 OEMs, which work fine in 21876 with my Touch HD. Upon porting 23089, I had these issues:


Like almost everybody else, I experience the the scroll bar issue on the Phone Canvas (Topaz OEM), even after modifying the phcanrc.dll based on alexx~'s instructions. It was actually working fine, but a couple of hours later they started showing up for good.
Opera Mini in Esmertec Jbed has its bottom menu buttons cut off after you enter a URL. I have only read a couple of posts here on XDA regarding this issue, but no solution. Changing the Jbed version didn't help.
I am now using Opera Mobile 9.7 beta1, and the bookmarks page cannot scroll, even though a scroll bar shows up on the right side. In fact, you can move the entire current page up, so that the stuff below is black... but it doesn't actually scroll down the list of bookmarks, if you know what I mean.
GSensor auto-rotation only works with HTC Album. Everything else, like HTC Calculator do not work anymore even though they are in the Whitelist/Modulenames in the registry. If I remove HTC Album from Whitelist and ModuleName it doesn't rotate, so I know the Gsensor is fine to an extent. I reverted back to my 21876 build - which uses almost the same files (aside from the themes and task manager, to name a couple), and it was working fine again. I am pretty sure I didn't take out any important libraries (GSensor Calibrator and Sensor SDK are still there).


If anyone has a solution for any of these, that would be appreciated!!

There are PIE cabs around, which will tell you what files to remove. But it is the same as fexplorer. It has lots of dependencies, and will cause trouble to remove it. Just remove shortcut and make Opera as default browser.

Yeah I did try, but if I use landscape mode, the right side then gets cut off so that I can barely see the "Back" button (this would be the part that is at the bottom in portrait mode) ;-)

I have build a custom Manila 2.5 Rom with WM6.5 21872 and Leo EXT but I can not get youtube working with sound. I have changed the video playback quality to Fast Download, High quality and auto select and nothing works.

So I decided to revert back to some older packages (Dshow, mhub, Fullplayer and streaming media and I have cooked a thousand times but still no sound.

Is there any known fix for this, a cab file or a registry tweak?

Hi everyone,

I found a great tool PNGOUT at http://advsys.net/ken/utils.htm by Ken Silverman. It optimizes the size of PNG files. The nice thing is, the optimization is loseless, thus would have no side effect. I've tried it on my kitchen (SYS+EXT) and I managed to reduce about 5MB of rom size.

Attached is a small batch file + pngout.exe. Extract it to a folder and edit the batch file to set the path where you've extracted them. Drag and drop any folder on the batch file to begin. It will enumerate all folders (including sub folders) and optimizes all PNG files found within.

UPDATE: In Themes_DPI_xxx folder. Do not optimize all *_softbar.png and *_pivot_*.png files, else they would appear to be corrupted. So far those are the only files that need to be excluded.

I ran it through the 23506 (SYS only) and gained less than a meg of space. I'm not able to flash right now, so I don't know if it breaks anything, but I guess savings is savings.

Edit:

I saved 3 megs total on my complete kitchen.

I did save 2 megs on a LZX compressed rom, which I think is pretty good.

The DSM file is not needed delete it... the kitchen byitself cant read all the info inside the DSm thats why we have so much troubles with the shared Dlls! mmmm try this... add your EXT Pkg in 3 subfolders under EXT folder at root kitchen i mean like this EXT/Hermes/Common/Addon/here your ext pkg... remember that an EXT pkg is recognized by contains the last folder

You can gain even more with the bmp's inside a rom. Like the half meg ones in phonecanvas or contacteditor.

Convert a bmp to png and then rename it back to bmp.

Works a charm.

My Assets_dialer_Normal.bmp is only 41kb in size.

There are PIE cabs around, which will tell you what files to remove. But it is the same as fexplorer. It has lots of dependencies, and will cause trouble to remove it. Just remove shortcut and make Opera as default browser.

File Explorer doesn't have any dependencies.

PIE however does have dependencies, not worth the trouble.


You can also remove windows photo viewer,and windows on screen keyboard.

Yup the tranparencies is broken. Anyway I looked at the option, maybe if we add the "/k1" option, it will be preserved... I'll test.

I am using 23504 build and I am pretty satisfieded with it but one thing I hate - It is slow when:
I want to open email(tooks 2-4sec to open it)
Make new message(tooks 2-4sec to open it)

Same problem was with all other builds, can i somehow improve this?

Maybe somehow prelode tmail always in ram?

Any idea?

I do sorta the same thing... except Adobe products save PNG files (Flattened PNG) pretty much the same method. Adobe requires you to actually open each one, which in your case the batch file is great to get you started.

Just just FYI that saving your PNG files as a "flattened PNG" will result in just about the same space saving.

Converting BMPs to PNG, compressing, and renaming back to BMP is good too.

try out the mhubvo packages. i had similar issues on my diamond roms, and additional mhubvo from topaz along with my diamond mhub did the trick:)

Darn, I do not know what I did but currently I can't set cooked .wma ringtone in the Sound & Notification. WM complains that the file is broken. I tried playing that file using WMP and it plays properly.

If I copy in the same ringtone (from my kitchen) to my device (to storage or via storage card), it will be accepted.

Anyone who has this experience before with solution? Thanks in advance.

If you are not using a native 6.5 kernel, make sure the slot0 free memory has at least 20MB (use imgfstodump at your cooked ROM and check the memory map file). I used to have this problem before and solved by recmod some modules.

Thanks. I'm using native 6.5 kernel. I just recook again and everything gone back to normal. So, I'll have to figure out what's the different between them to find the culprit.

You're missing the ConnectionSetup package (should be in EXT, not SYS)

Also, I believe that the ADC package in SYS has similar functionality (although I prefer ConnectionSetup myself)

I saw one post a while back that said they don't get a audible indication when a 2nd call is coming in (a call when you are on a call). I get a pop up notification that the call is coming in but no audio. Does anyone know if this is a reg setting or something else.

Haven't install office mobile 2010 beta yet, but Sharepoint normally is a server sitting on IIS. It allows user to share files/docs/photos (checkin/checkout stuff). Example of Sharepoint being used is Office Live. From the screenshot, I think that would be a Sharepoint client. Actually there should be no need of any client because you can access it using any internet browser, but the client can be used to simplify Sharepoint access.

just tried Word 2010, nice scrolling but I honestly can't see any difference in finger friendliness - the toolbar icons are just as small as before :rolleyes:

in terms of functionality and usefulness SoftMaker beats the crap out of Office Mobile... you can actually use it like a fully functional office suite imho. bit pricey however.

tommer12, did you check out the CDMA section of the Raphael forum? All the info you are wanting is there. You will need to HardSPL your TP and do some reading before you try to flash. Don't turn into one of those guys who we're trying to rescue when your TP crashes because you skipped a step. It's pretty straight forward. We are all here to help if needed.
