Please, anyone could explain me how to calculate from a memory map with wm6 kernel ( not wm6.5) for wm6.5 in order to have a good memory :)

Open up the MS calculator on your PC. Tick the hex box. Cut and paste the two slot #'s into it, and subtract the 2nd from the first. Tick the decimal box and divide by 1048 (I think). That's it in kb.

You have slot 60 free, too (plus about 3 MB in slot 61). You should start converting .dlls and .exes to modules. It's hard to fill it up; I've got maybe 90 modules and 10 MB of memory in slot 0. (Whatever you do, don't go on a rec-modding rampage.) I'm not sure what the 47 MB free means, but I don't think that it refers to your program memory. Maybe someone else knows. I have a similar #, and I have ~135 MB free at startup and 110-115 after using it a while.

(If I were gonna guess, I'd say that the 47 MB is a critical level or something where the rom won't build anymore. You have 32+3 free in 0 and 61, plus maybe 12 to play with in 1. If the free VM drops below 20 MB in slot 1, then maybe the rom won't build. It would be nearly impossible to do this with a native kernel, imo.)

If you're using 28002, the 3 sys folders named xxxfiles (osfiles, etc) have .dll's that can be converted (they were modules in 23081). You can convert all of the MSVC dll's and the .exe to modules. I've found it works a lot better for me that way. I converted everything in the office folder to modules (except a couple xxxres.dll's-I've had issues doing that before, so left them alone). Pocket xcel boots up a lot quicker now. Basically everything in my EXT's are now modules-it's worked well with just a few exceptions (folder icon library was killed by it, and a few other icon type resources don't work). Just don't convert rsaenh.dll to a module-the rom won't boot.

i have htc universal (native 6.5 nk) (64 mb ram), and after flashing rom build on these sources there is max 12 mb of free program memory instead of 24 mb in 23506, maybe it's my mistake, don't know, but i never had such a low amount of memory.

A dummy file fools the rom into thinking that SQM (the error reporting system, which is annoying) is present. If it's not cooked in, I think you have a lot of bugs.

I am using the 28002 build for the Treo Pro.

I have an issue with the align screen prompt not coming up on first boot. The autorun starts before the align screen prompt comes up. At some point during the autorun the customization screen goes away. After the next boot the align screen comes up. All of this is weird but not a deal breaker. the problem is that the align screen keeps coming up at random times. Any ideas? It seems to be related to the align screen not coming up immediately during the first boot (before the autorun).

Which link did you download from? No disrespect intended but I have not a good experiences with Alexes downloads. Many times errors, and with many packages removed. I prefer to have the entire SYS as is and take out what I want myself.

PS the camera icon issue was caused from files in OEM\ExtraFilesPkg that were overwriting the original ones.

Probably not. I have a non-native kernel WM6.5 device and never had that issue since issue first pop up in COM3 - 2308x builds. Could be something else ...

My experience is the Free RAM reported ba platformrebuilder is just a calculation using the value entered in ROMHdr. it's just a display, and there is no link with the real free RAM. try that : in ErviusVK, click on xipdump and Rom Tools, after that click on "Give" just behind ROMheader, and you will see 0x83400000, wich is the ENDRAM value for the 64Mo Phone!;). it's just because you never update the "cuisine" when you changed your Phone. if you know the real endram of your phone, you enter it, you click "update", and platefoemrebuilder will report you xxx Mb (95 + PP).

I don't have any sleep issues on 28002 on my fuze (with 6.5 NK). My guess is that it is a package issue. I haven't updated any of the EXT's from Da_G's last Raphael kitchen, or any of the oem drivers.

It seems to me that GWES isn't as much of a RAM-hog in this build. It peaks at about 22 K in dotfred's for me. It would go up to 26 K for me in 23081. But, jeez, the lockscreen is a pig-it eats up 6 M of RAM when it's first selected after start up, and doesn't release any of it. I haven't tested the old lockscreen, but I bet it doesn't do that.

I have sleep issues in all 23xxx builds after 23081(which was fine).
Doesn't have this problem in 25xxx builds, but I have it again in new 28002 build. I tried all diferent links posted here, and all suggestions but the problem remains.
I'm using qvga files for a device without a native wm6.5 cernel (Iolite).

Hey Guys, not sure if this question should be posted here, but thought maybe someone would be able to help.

I am having issues with My Location on the weather page. It seems to have started with 28002. I have experienced this on several ROM's (TAEL, Energy, rredux) all using HTC sense with 3 different Radios (1.14.25.35; 1.12.25.19 and 1.17.25.09). What I have found is that if i turn off 3G, then weather updates without issues. If 3G is turned on, then I cant get updates. Not sure if this is related, but when i use the on/off switch ni the Comm Manager to turn it off, I get an error, saying that it cant connect. Any suggestions or thoughts??

Check your Office 2010 package. If it's an OEM package, check your initflashfiles.txt and if it's an EXT package, check your app.reg.

Office folders are normally created in mipupdate_office_100.provxml, but that is in the sys/common/office package. Check your initflashes.dat file for it.

Go to Base_DPI_XXX. Remove:
Start_Icon_Excel.png, Start_Icon_Office.png, Start_Icon_PowerPoint.png, Start_Icon_Word.png

Go to Base_Lang_XXXX. Remove prottpln.doc, prottpln.ppt, prottpln.xls (it has no connection to menu items but thus you will get rid of unnecessary files)

If your Office things are also mentioned in initflashfiles.dat - remove lines dedicated from file. I also use 2010 in my rom instead of the original one but I have my own custom initflashfiles.dat so I don't have any idea about your one - just check it.

You have to kill the shell32 window- "TitleBarList" CONFETTIPLUS TITLEBARLIST. You can do it with dotfred's task manager, and my guess is that you could write a mortscript that would kill it during start up.

Did you remember to soft reset? I wouldn't say it was a huge difference, but it did have bounce in the start menu.

Speaking of which, if you open the file with notepad, it looks like it references a set of registry keys in HKLM\System\GWE\Physics. I've tried playing around with creating them, but to no avail. The values are BounceHeight, BounceDuration, DragCoeff, SpringConstant and ScrollMass. There's also something called DisableConfigCaching. Maybe this is something that is coming down the pipe, because it would be nice to be able to tweak the scrolling.

Anyway, I've played around with different values for these keys, and it hasn't done jack, lol.

I have tried both the rollup as the individual packages of Da_G.

What could cause the random resets? I havent done anything different than usual.

For anyone who hates the drop-down task bar, here's a mortscript that kills it. The window needs to be opened up first for the script to work (I tried doing a show command then a close command in startup, but it didn't work).

Btw, there is a timebomb in Office 2010. Until someone is able to come out with a patch, I advice not to cook it in.

In fact, there is no need to cook in office beta package.
Just extract all files from cab in some folder, or better, install office beta on storage card and then recopy in somewhere.
Office beta package can run without installtaion (file assoc. will be missing - but programs will work).

You must have Blank.dot, Blank.dotx, Blank_0409.dot and blank_0409.dotx (or other - current lang) templates in Windows folder, ( I have them in Office and Windows folder) and opening a new document in word will work.

Most probably caused by package(s) that start during boot up. This would be Menu Enchancement, Notification Enchancement and etc. Try not cooking them in. If you are able to boot-up, try to recmod all modules in them, and it that also works, then try reversing them back to modules.

No, I didn´t cook it.
I just recmoded it and add it to CSC.bin. So, while flashing, (CSC. is flashing last), PhysicsEngine.dll (file) overwrites original one from SYS\Shell.
It really works.

No, it will have to be cooked in. It may end up crashing your device if you just copy it over. Just fair warning

Maybe it depends on how big of a step up or down you're trying to make with gwes.exe, but I have copied in a few different gwes.exe files without an issue. I had no problem with physicsengine.dll, either, although it wasn't that great of an improvement and I don't really like over-writing rom files (particularly modules).

That skin is the default theme. If you are missing the theme then you didn't cook in the dll properly. You should be able to just drop the file in \Windows\ and reboot.

i'm pretty sure for it to work you will have to transplant the shell folder. But if you do that, you may as well use that build.

Wow, that makes sense. I'm guessing it is a normal keyboard with no eT9 like the EzInput uses. After getting a Diamond 2, eT9 really comes in handy. Does anyone have a working 192 DPI port. Using the files uploaded, I end up with the old standard keyboard... and it sucks having to recook/reflash every time I try a new DLL.

Hello Everyone, if i am posting in the wrong place please forgive me.
I need some help building a rom. You see i have an HTC Touch Viva(Opal) and i am using Ervius Visual Kitchen V 1.8.1 for Opal, when i make the rom and flash my phone on first boot everything works perfect, but when i restart the phone comm manager,home settings,and the volume up and down buttons don't work. Believe me when i tell you i have tried everything to get it to work. Finally if i remove the sys/23xxx/shared/common/bluetooth folder it will work perfect but no bluetooth. Well i removed the .dsm and .rgu files from the bluetooth folder and i get bluetooth now but the comm manager,home settings and volume buttons works but it takes about a little less than half a minute to come up. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Rob, which SYS/XIP are you using? I had issues using any COM branch other than COM3. COM2 (21877) wouldn't boot either

I don't believe he was meaning you. I think what he is trying to get at is the fact that the person with the actual 21882 is not willing to share with everyone, but only with a select few. Doesn't make sense to me, especially in this environment where we share ideas. If there is a valid reason for that then I apologize for my ignorance.

Personally (I have public ROMs, but I use COM2 builds for my personal use), if I were given a build to cook as a public ROM and then told "don't share with anyone", I would say 'No thanks, I'll just wait till it's out in the public domain.' I wouldn't break their promise by leaking it, but then I still I wouldn't do what's unfair to the rest of the XDA community by releasing a ROM with an exclusive build that nobody else is allowed to use. As I'm a cook coming from the Elfin forum, all of us cooks share our ideas so there is never any actual competition -- it would be odd if someone had a build that he wouldn't (be allowed to) share.

But that's just my preference and opinion. ;) Don't mean to offend anyone.

I guess I won't be getting an exclusive builds now LOL :P

i'm not sure what you did, but I can confirm that MSIMAR & MSIMAR_DPI_96 (I used the modified MSIMAR_DPI_96 posted a few pages back) will work in 28004. I do not like, but it works. As matter of fact I'm taking it out.

How do I make an App run only once i.e. "Runonce" after a Hard Reset..

In other words, I want certain programs to run successively after The Welcome (touchcreen, time, and email setup) screens but only once so that it wont run again on a Soft Reset..

I've tried [HKLM\init], placed "LaunchXX"="Filename.exe" ..this works but it interferes with the touchscreen setup in Welcome screen firstly, and then also starts after every SOFT reset also..

I'd imagine the "DependsXX"="Hex:YY,ZZ" would help but dont know what hex values to input.. I only want these programs to start after the Welcome Screen and never again.. Also need them to start successively not all at once.. How can I do this?

It sounds like you want to run stuff during customization. Add commands to add2config.txt like this

Yes, if you're using VK, that's the way to do it. If you're using an older kitchen, it goes in the config_operator.txt in the operator package in your OEM directory.

it appears the .nbh was built and there was an error initializing the romupdate utility (app that transfers .nbh to device)

try running the app manually if not try to run the .nbh from sd card

Edit your Kitchen_build_rom.bat file in the tools folder.

Insert REM on the following line(s), near the bottom. The lines are designed to run the flash program at the end of rom creation.

rem ROMUpdateUtility
rem customruu


Or you could put the exe file(s) in your RELEASE_{device} folder to start the flash.
Or you can safely ignore the error message.

Hey belumada, you may also consider moving your kitchen to the root of your C drive. The kitchen plays nicer if it's something like C:\Kitchen instead of the current path. Just a suggestion, but mine works much better now that I did that.
