1. If you have a problem with ervius kitchen, you should post in the ervius kitchen thread (or search through it.)
2. No, it's not normal. Some ROMs cannot be dumped. Are you trying to dump a stock RUU or are you trying to dump a cooked ROM? (which has probably been protected.)

Thanks, will research the thread and it was a cooked Rom which I liked the look of and wanted to play around with. But at least I know the dumping of a cooked Rom hangs coz it is protected :D

What's the WMD branch all about? Used to be COM2, 3, 5, etc. I'm running 28002 now and noticed a nice speed/stability boost, but nothing new in the interface as far as I can see. What does this branch focus on? And what's new in the more recent WMD builds (28004, 6, 8, 9, 11)?

u can either delete mscalc from base apps in sys folder. or try to change the shortcut location of ms calc from initflashfiles.dat in the oemlang folder of ur OEM.

all you need from xip.bin is the msxipkernel, unless you are cooking with old style kitchen which i doubt many people are. to get the msxipkernel from the xip.bin all you have to do is drop xip.bin in this folder and click on dump_xip.bat.

Found problem. Is located in "webview.dll" module. Changed to old one from 28009.

Problem: When i cook with 90% of Mega EXT packages i have only 96mb of total available storage memory.

If i leave all the packages i have 144mb of memory.

So i assume that the problem is in some package.

i have a problem with my rom, when i boot up first time after flash i find that wi-fi it's switched on, and a notification window show me networks that are avaiable, but htc command manager says that wi-fi is switched off, so i have to activate it and deativate again to return in normality....

Check your modules sometimes there are duplicate files inside the module so it is taking up twice the space. But only one gets loaded during install do shouldn't matter. Big packages with lots of graphic will suck the memory fast, Like album, phone canvass etc.

are u applying lzx compression onto ur rom? if not then that'll bring about more storage memory.
Also u can UPX compress ur ext packages if u like, bringing about even more memory

i have some problems with Visual Kitchen and LZX compression right now, but im not sure that it is a compression problem...it seems to me that the phone doesnt "format" and doesnt use all tha disk partition.

Can someone tell me the file responsible for home setting, volume button etc because while cooking rom for opal everytime when we cook and only one time everything works fine but after a reset comn manager, today setting, volume button, file explorer dropdown stucks. This is a problem always in opal custom rom. Please someone suggest a solution(wm 6.5 and above roms)

How about downloading files from rayfile directly without using RaySource client?

After many hours trying to do it via C# own client, I did a bit different way...

Since I'm Opera user and I know about UserJS (FF has it as Greasemonkey plugin), I did a bit search in sourcecode...

Just download included file (userjs-rayfile.txt), rename it to userjs-rayfile.js, put it to any folder (eg C:\Opera UserJS) and on rayfile site click right mouse -> Change local settings (? I have diff lang) -> scripting -> insert the address of folder where you put the userjs file.

Now try loading any file on rayfile. As soon as page loads the "direct download" should enable and you are able to download it without RaySource client, directly in Opera.

Hope it helps somebody:D.

Also, if anybody gets it working in FF's Greasemonkey, post there how to.

yeah i use manila... in my latest rom total storage is 123.79 mb, free is abt 100mb...

i remember in my earliest release, my memory storage was almost the same as urs, but after removing some stuff and applying upx compression on my ext packages i am where i am today (together with the use of lzx compression coz if i dnt apply lzx now and the default xpr is used my total storage instead of 123mb comes down to abt 107mb)

by the way, what size is ur nbh file?

i remember in my earliest release, my memory storage was almost the same as urs, but after removing some stuff and applying upx compression on my ext packages i am where i am today (together with the use of lzx compression coz if i dnt apply lzx now and the default xpr is used my total storage instead of 123mb comes down to abt 107mb)

by the way, what size is ur nbh file?

i remember trying the RC once and LZX worked ok, maybe the compression files have a problem.

2 things to try:
-replace the compression folder with the one attached (this is from the 1.4RC, so if u've updated it to maybe RC2.2/3/4 i donno if it'll b compatible)
-re-download the kitchen again

i was also able to register easily. if you are not sure what you are clicking, use firefox and hover over the link and look on the status bar at the bottom and you will see, in english, where the link goes. anywho, registered and downloaded what i needed. thanks as always guys

Another excellent tip, Thank you. I received some additional help and and now have an account on xbeta.

I used a translator to see what information was required on the login screen but it came back and gave me another message which I could never figure out. Never thought about copy and paste into a translator. All this new technology just throws me for a loop:eek:

How about downloading files from rayfile directly without using RaySource client?

After many hours trying to do it via C# own client, I did a bit different way...

Since I'm Opera user and I know about UserJS (FF has it as Greasemonkey plugin), I did a bit search in sourcecode...

Just download included file (userjs-rayfile.txt), rename it to userjs-rayfile.js, put it to any folder (eg C:\Opera UserJS) and on rayfile site click right mouse -> Change local settings (? I have diff lang) -> scripting -> insert the address of folder where you put the userjs file.

Now try loading any file on rayfile. As soon as page loads the "direct download" should enable and you are able to download it without RaySource client, directly in Opera.

Hope it helps somebody:D.

Also, if anybody gets it working in FF's Greasemonkey, post there how to.

For firefox you must use Greasemonkey plugin. I know how to set it up, but it fails on
typeof (window.showDownload) == 'function', it shows me that window.showDownload is "undefined" (which I need to detect if it's on download page or not. Actually I tried all window.showDownload, only showDownload, document.showDownload). Nothing worked. If anybody is able to make it working in FF tell me :).

I'm cooking for artemis, and of late i've been having this new problem with EVERY ROM i cook. Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Once I flash the ROM on the device, the device gets stuck at the HTC splash screen, where the Artemis normally shows the IPL, SPL, GSM and OS versions. Thing is, now my device has stopped showing the OS version. It just shows IPL, SPL and GSM and gets stuck. Any ideas?

Replaced the files from a previous build? I did the same thing. I just dont understand why when these builds are leaked that they contain leaks themselves! If we are able to fix the builds by adding missing packages from a previous build why didnt the original uploaders take the time to do the same thing?

are u applying lzx compression onto ur rom? if not then that'll bring about more storage memory.
Also u can UPX compress ur ext packages if u like, bringing about even more memory

Amazing, because I was able to find the flash.dio files for 21855 and 28014 no problem. I was able to extract them and get a complete msxipkernel no problem. I use VK so that's all I need, but if I needed xip.bin, I could just follow the link to instructions from the first post to make xip.bin from msxipkernel no problem. It's really no problem.

i tried searching on how to remove the beta trial mode...however i keep coming up short...i member its in shell in a rgu file..however i cant find that rgu file to edit in the shell folder..

I have done it myself several times. It's easy. Dump working xip.bin for your device. Replace files and modules from new msxipkernel to your dump. Rebuild xip.bin. Simple. Sorry bro, but you are wrong and I am right. True that you can't build xip.bin from only msxip kernel, but you certainly can update your xip.bin with msxipkernel. It's really quite simple. Normally raysource files are always flash.dio. And it takes several seconds to extract xip.bin. About changing MSXipkernel to xip.bin - it also takes several seconds if you know how to do that.

Some one plz help,

I cooked many rom for opal but one bug always comes with every rom no matter what is the build number that is when the rom is flashed and user customization runs then just after the system reboots if i turn off wifi (which gets on the very first boot), reset the device from that time comn manager, volume button, today setting and file explorer drop down button dont works.

there is no need for you to download the raysource client to get the files, there are other ways to do so.

Yes they are, an VK msxipkernel, and an msxipkernel are different.. A VK msxipkernel has only the files required to build an xip (out.bin) for Visual Kitchen (VK). A full msxipkernel has Imageinfo.txts in every module, and dll and exe txts which. All of which map the modules.

A full msxipkernel is required for users that DO NOT use VK (Visual Kitchen) so in that case, I will say it again. I have tried everything using the VK msxipkernel to churn out a full xip.bin (learn what that is) besides the Russian File that AndrewSH provided and hate to tell you not everyone can read Russian (yes I know he translated the readmes to english).. But that also means if it contains readmes that its not a fully automated process. Also its means if it hasnt been translated or linked commonly in this thread that its not a commonly used workaround to create an xip.bin from a VK msxipkernel.

I am also a seasoned Chef but I do not use VK. Maybe I should start using that I know but I am not the only user who uses other kitchens. I am not the only user that asks for xip.bins and flash.dios to get the xip.bins. I am not the only user that needs the full xip.bin to create a functioning injectable XIP.

A VK msxipkernel is missing imageinfo.txts and dll, exe .txts which are not required by VK to create a functioning injectable xip. So I clap for those VK users. However, a FULL msxipkernel is whats needed to manually port an xip.bin into a donor for use in many other kitchens. There is a difference between a VK msxipkernel, and a msxipkernel. So yes, and xip.bin is way different than the VK msxipkernel but is not different then a FULL msxipkernel.

The VK msxipkernel is missing files needed to exchange and realloc p, write maps, and create packages it errors out everytime. And thats because the VK msxipkernel is missing the maps (imageinfo.txts from every module and the dll, exe txt's under the modules).

You all act like I havent tried everything under the sun. Believe me I have. And thats how I know the difference between a VK msxipkernel, and a FULL msxipkernel.

Most of the time in this thread the VK msxipkernel is provided and I am stuck having to find a flash.dio to get the xip.bin, or ask someone for the xip.bin. For use in porting a functioning xip for non VK users (me).

In the rare case that a FULL msxipkernel is released before a VK user rapes it and mirrors the files for VK users benefit I am able to use the FULL msxipkernel and do exactly what you guys are saying. But when I can only locate (because its all thats provided) the VK msxipkernel (which is different than a full msxipkernel, its missing .txts from every module, and from the root of the folder itself) I cannot generate an xip.bin for use in non VK kitchens.

i didin't reference your ability in "getting the .dio's" so i have no idea why you even mention that. there's no need to call anyone stupid.

i was simply pointing out that you didn't need to download the raysource client to obtain the .dio files in reference to your post:


don't get upset w/the people helping you b/c what you're downloading isn't "what you thought it was". there are plenty of other users that are able to find/dump the xip w/o issue. the .dio's have been coming from the same place, just DL them from there and extract your xip.bin

I have been cooking ROMs for my phone (Palm Treo Pro) for the past 4 months. I've been wondering for the past month how I could remove the Palm Treo Customization setup after flashing the phone.

Does anyone know how I can remove that, so I can just skip that setup of installing their certificates, applications, and settings? I tried to replace the FWUPDATE with a dummy package but I guess thats something else because the Palm customization still pops up.

Only clue I have for you is the same clue I got:

all PALM apps should be in \OEM\PANT100\COMMON\OEMOPERATORS\

but how to remove them...

well, since 28008 i'm facing problems with sounds: firstable the clock alarm; with 28014 the alarm and now the rings.
I'm confused cause i'm using the same oem and ext packages with all the sys.
btw, i'm cooking in 0C0A language, with PRB and the files come from xbeta.
There are others with this issue?

Guys anyone else having issues with data connection on 28009, some applications connect and other don't, my apn settings are correct i use ether acer connection setup or the htc network setup to make sure i have the correct apn always, regarding the issue...i can browse the internet using opera or IE,weather geolocation connects perfectly, stock quotes also connect properly to yahoo finance, but twitter doesn't want to connect it acts as if there was no data connection enable, when in fact there is, same happens when syncing emails, email don't want to get sync even tho there's a data connection going, anyways if anyone has any suggestion or idea that can help it will be greatly appreciated...also im using old style kitchen, with leo 1.43 packages and some 1.48 packages.

edit: forgot to mention that internet sharing is also not able to complete the data connection, same with htc wifi router.
edit 2: removing htc connection setup module as is conflicting with the acer connection wizard module, i think this might fix my data connection problem.

(I admit, not the most correct way, but) I recmodded everything from 28014 and 28011, and the only difference were in 34 dll's and exe's. No reg changes that I saw. It looked like it was mostly network and IE stuff.
