I think he's asking for a difference in terms of the different tree builds. It seems like many new trees are starting to branch off now, it it would be helpful to know the difference between the builds.

I think most seasoned chefs already know the info from that post, but with so many new trees, it seems due time to update that information with the latest build trees.

Well, from what I gather, this is the story...

240XX seems to be generic (no branding). The 246XX could be a LG build.

It is like switch between your sms/email account with gestures

This makes sense to me too ... altho I'm not seeing "loads" of branches, messaging and (?) browsing seem to be the main focus ...

there's also the fonts(gui) and pim storage,

but these builds from this week appear to be 4 types of the same thing to me that have been redone to become the base of new dev.

Guys, where can i get a really short description of oem drivers.? Only i want to know what for a particular driver is , like da_g's sys folders description.

The provxml isn't going to do anything if it's executed before the widgetinstaller creates the shortcuts. I don't know what the ordering of the events are, but I suspect that the provxml's are all run first. I wish I knew how the widgetinstaller created the shortcuts, because as far as I can tell, it creates them from nothing, and it would be pretty trick to be able to create all the start menu shortcuts that way.

I normally made it into a xml file and run it from Autorun.

It existed for as long as I can remember...

During pre-WM6.5, HTC does that using BioTouch (with animated slide). With WM6.5, it's there since the first WM6.5 beta I've tried. This also hold true for all screen with tab.

I have had it happen several times with the 23519 build. Rebooting the device and it goes through fine then. Only does it occasionally.

Sorry about this question...i really like wm6.5.X with new gui and the changes...eg the startmenu on bottom and the new alarm...and so on

we have some issues...eg some older programs have probs with the correct view (position)..also in qvga the incoming htc phone canvas.....(corrected with xtask)

but i must say a big thanks for the new wm 6.5.X :):)

i like it...i never use manila because titanium is good short info thing and the startmenu is also very good and fingerfriendly...i never use the stylus... :):)

Native kernel is IMO is a crap if you are going to build a full Rom with Manila,otherwise it works fine with stock Roms.

With native Kernel i was having issue with Opera,Youtube,Many phone autorestart,QuickGPS,etc.....now im leaving native kernel where it is and building rom with old one and it works very good.

If I try to switch it on in Comm manager after a few seconds it says cannot turn on Bluetooth.

Not really though. Everything seems fine here. I think this issue you are getting is coz of some wrong in your comm manager it self. I know the solution but out of my pc atm. I will tell you laterz.

How if you enable from bluetooth settings ( Settings -> Bluetooth )?

Ok now remove BluetoothPlatformType HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager. Which fixes cannot turn on Bluetooth error in comm manager.

I think you are missing CMBluetooth package thats why tapping on text doesn't, However this will not affect bluetooth not turning ON or cannot turn on Bluetooth error.

For not showing Bluetooth icon, remove Redirect in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Bluetooth.

Try this on device first. I'm not 100% sure this will workout for you though. Just hoping. :)

If I have runCC set to auto reboot the device after customisation it totally messes up the phone - start menu becomes unaccessible, network is only detectable after pressing left hardware key, today screen is only accessible after pressing end key to go to lock screen. But if I just use runCC and soft reset manually, all is fine - ???

i never tried to have 0 modules in slot 0 in my kaiser roms, the number of modules makes no difference in stability its the amount of space that they take up ;)

unfortunately not, mean that if you have a 6.1 kernel you can build a rom with M$ 6.5, contrary if you have a 6.5 native kernel you dont need to recmode anithing and you rom will increase in speed.

28223 worked ok, for me, but there were some minor graphical glitches in my build. Otherwise, it wasn't different from 28217.

You should be using the same oemxipkernel in all of the builds (just re-numbered). You must've left something out to keep the rom from booting.

There are both kinds of people, those for whom sharing every new thing they get with forum member is a second nature, and those who consider themselves too elite to share. But the good thing is that latter kind of people are less in number, people with sharing spirit outnumber them. Thats why XDA is so big, and it will continue to be. Well, I don't think that recmodding everything from those folder's is a good practice. As it may effect the device performance and battery backup too.

Which files to recmod has to be choosen/adopted based on usage pattern, device and cooking pattern to get maximum balance between performance and stability.

Agree with bigman1 there are many people who are very selfish and do not even care to share a link....
But on the other hand there is a huge majority of people who share everything and some who work so hard and share their work like Da_G and other great developers.

If you are talking about the beta things in the background. Then just go to the registry file in the shell package folder and search for beta and remove those keys

da_g has already said that the messaging is different, plus we usually get office 2010 and threaded email with the 23xxx branch. 28223 has decent anti aliasing on the fonts, without the other bits from the 23xxx builds. not had chance to test this one yet.

Ah...sorry, didn't read the VGA part. If you can't find another way, just copy the files manually. Use a previous build and copy the directory and file structure...its time consuming but works :)

About the resolution files should i just copy the two files with my resolution and language mentioned ( WWE has no language code correct ? ) mentioned ??
and all these files except XIP ( the last one in the rollback package ) i copy to SYS folder with the title 23529

Hey madnish30, Try this, extract it out to your kitchen\tools\extra buttons folder (overwite existing files) then in EVK choose the option 'extra button' and you'll see something like 'import sys'. Create a new folder in your \kitchen dir called 'import' and extract out the whole roll-up package there then Click 'import sys' and a dos box will open, input your build number your importing, hit enter and it'll do it for ya!
This saves so much time, can't remeber who wrote it but i think i got it on this site so all credit goes to author.

You use the same ext's, but remember to put in a blank folder for the new build, or re-number the ext's if it's set up that way. And just suck it up and sort the dump manually. Copy your old sys to another location and up the build number. The go through the dump, and replace all the packages in the new location one-by-one. You need to learn where things are in sys, anyway, and this is a good way to do it.

If the Initflashfile is all that you need, it´s very easy to translate it, just take the Spanish one, open it with notepad and translate it.

Catalan is not one of my strong points, :D, and go to Barcelona a lot. :)

Guys i tried to install extendir in device opal i did everything right and added wince.nls also in xip but the rom wont boot.... Only thing i missed is i didnt changed bootphase to 1 of the reg key flashdvr because taht flashdvr key is not present in my xip. So that means extendire cant be run on my device?

Well i need extendir as soon as possible in my device and the thread of extendir shadrac seems inactive so asked here as many of the cheifs here might have tried that like bobsbbq.

How can I change EXT packages and still get them built properly in with the ROM. Do the packages have to be from the same devices ROM, or can I use Leo-packages with my Rhodium ROM? It there many files to make changes to, or can I just put new packs in the EXT folder?

E.G I tried to change the default Opera 9.5 to Opera 9.7, but when I made a build there was no opera browser to launch.. I've also tried to put the Sense 2.5 folders in a build without getting it to run...

Any help is higly appreciated!!

The Windows build has nothing to do with your problems as described, 99% of the time anyway.. except maybe for 3.

Anyway:

1) Check if twittercore.dll is loading in the SocialNetworking package. Check whether you have the correct httpclient.dll in the SharedModules package and finally make sure the twitterapp client is loading in the Manila_Twitter package

2) Are you sure it doesn't get skiped with the _skip file ? Are you sure you have an entry for it in initflashfiles or app.dat for it to start on startup ? Make sure there's an entry for it in \windows\startup after you flash the ROM. If there isnt.. then you know why it doesnt work :)

3) Does it do it with the built in themes as well ? Like the "Classic Blue" theme ?

Sorry for beeing a noob, but how do I make sure of that? If I use the latest initflashfiles.dat from 1st post, put it in my "OEM\Rhodium\OEM_Lang_0414" folder will it cook right then, or must I edit something (what) in the initflashfiles.dat first?

Sometimes. Usually the first time I use the dialer after flash reboot.
After that, it the phcanvga.exe seems to move the dialer up just fine.

I think you have way too many modules in slot 0 but thats IMO. You need to start recmodding to files. See tool for recmodding here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4807024#post4807024) and common files recmodded here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5549804&postcount=11672) and some advice from Duron here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5553679&postcount=11723) hope that helps.:D

You have 25.375 MB committed to slot 0, which means there is no chance in hell a device with that rom will boot up. You can't put more modules in slot 1 (get your 0's and 1's in order, lol). It is filled when it hits 32 MB. You need to read post #2 a couple more times.

In order to lower the module commitment (VM used, not module count), you will need to either leave out packages with major virtual memory allocations (windows live is a killer) or do a quick search (seriously, don't ask this question as it's been brought up thousands of times in this thread) and find out what sys packages to rec-mod. Don't ask how to rec-mod, just search.

The number of modules depends on the size of the modules. You have 32MB in Slot1 and it does not matter if you have many small modules or a few big modules. Slot1 is always filled up befor Slot0 is used so it does not matter how many modules there are. That is also true for Slot0. One 5MB module in Slot0 would be much worse then ten 3kb modules. Not the number of modules but the free memory in Slot0 is important. Check the first line:
SLOT 0: 0x02000000 - 0x006a0000 (END: 0x00060000, 159 MODULES)
Your free memory in Slot0 is 6a0000-60000=640000(hex)=6553600(dez)=6,25MB
Try to recmod some modules till you have at least 26MB free memory in Slot0.

It's actually counted from ulRAMEnd-ulRAMFree which is readed from ROMHDR (note that platformrebuilder automatically resizes ulRAMFree address by the size of XIP plus align to 0x100).

I spoke about the issue with cmonex why does it show only eg 43MB instead of 180MB (I noticed it few days ago) and she told me, that when in OEMInit (part of nk), the right amount is set ("few lines of ASM").

I just wanted to use extendir 0mb one for that purpose only unfortunately its not working on my device but no problem as the sol u provided will work for me, and for backslash etc nope i will try everything i just wanted to know what should be the editing and will let you know if it worked.... once again thank you :)

Everytime after flash, if there's incoming text msg when the device was sleep, the screen color becomes messy and it's just happen once.
Does someone know what cause this? Is it related to the video drivers which I've converted all to modules?

Ok, I've tried to search but found nothing really helpful. I've experimented a little with sense 2.5 in my Rhodium ROM... I've got the ROM to run smoothly without sense activated, but have some problems when launching sense 2.5:

The "today" screen (the one with clock and quicklinks) shows up when launching Sense 2.5, but without the slider. Intead of the slider the "button" to show the slider in landscape is shown at the left buttom. After 3-5 sec sense crashes... :(

I've used packages from Topaz (2011) when it comes to the manila packages (since I've heard these are the fastest out now). Used localized packages from a Leo 2.5 build. I've included the manila entries from the initflashfiles.dat from Topaz, in my OEM initflashfiles.dat. Are there more packages which manila needs upgraded/added to work? Or is there some essential things I've overlooked?

how did you measure them ?
do you have numbers ?
what kind of device you used ?

I think it's not a measure, but the general feeling of the build use. ;)
In my case, i've cook some of the new build for the acer X960, the result :
The fastest build is the 23102.

For the 23529, it's slower than the 23102, and the 23519 too. I've find some irritating bug when i use it, so i came back to the 23102.

In my point of view, 23529 is not a good build, but that the game with this COM :D

Packages related to Manila must come from the same build, and most of the contact related packages. They are the StartIconLoader, Contact Utility, New Contact Card and etc. Else Manila would crash when those packages are called by Manila.

So other than the MenuBarHeight fix, no one knows of a work around for the SIP covering part of the menubar in the most recent build releases(23102,24001,23529). This is on a wqvga device.(LG Incite)
