Sorry, but that says it all....why not share it once you have got it yourself? Why wait so long? Isn't that what XDA is all about...people giving and sharing and helping all others...not just a select few...
I'm astounded a moderator on such a large forum can act this way...
I'm not sure what you mean about fishing traffic to htcpedia...I'm still a little outside the circle of regular chefs on this forum, so I can't comment on that. All I can say is, the less selfish idiotic people on xda the better.

Uhmmm...im pretty sure that you misunderstood some points of discussion,i said GREAT XDA not reverse and your many stars behind your name means that you love too XDA....idiots was intended to the OTHER site....maybe are you from the OTHER site?
we were discussing about Miri that has a Rom with 23544 and if you jump on HTCPedia you will not find a 23544 build for chefs.
Now...here (XDA) for example , you will not find anyone with a new build in Rom that it isnt already shared.....understand the point now?

I have been at xda for 2.5 years..and roms with builds published without beeing shared has been happening all the time I have been here.
Its just recently, past year,(happened from time to time before too, not at the rate that is now) that all those who have shared when they could share, has been driven away by ppl who do not understand how things work in the real world.
what I dont understand is the logic of some ppl, they think they can call the ppl with sources idiots, and then think that they will recieve anything??
Its a bad circle, we have ppl to answer to, regarding sources, but this is a element too few ppl can or just wont understand. Its been explained 100's of times, but some just dont grasp it, either its ignorance or just beeing immature..I dont know
But the main thing is, we always have shared, in the time we could share, but ppl where/are not happy with that..and the namecalling starts..and ppl with sources, just like any other guys, dont like to be called names..so they dont share with ungrateful ppl.
call me and my friends names, say whatever you want, it just verify why we migrated to htcpedia at the beginning, and it is the reason we are leaving now..does it matter in the long run?? probably not :p

Not sure about an official phone canvas thread... I thought caller ID issues were related to WMD branch? I'm running 23541 without any issues whatsoever.

I noticed on 23106 that my Phone Canvas font is bolded (only on the large buttons, i.e. "Talk", "Keypad", & "End Call"). I guess that's just another "old dialer" incompatibility.
same here, and my ezinput have this problem too.

Aha, I'm glad you're on it :) Played with the canvas myself a little without any luck. It seems that that the positions of the screenelements are hardcoded in a dll. (same problem as with the lockscreen I guess). Hope that you can do some research on this.
The canvas of the Mini is supposed to solve a couple of problems with the WM 6.5.x versions. When the new rom of the mini is available (not the old one) we have the first "official" HTC Dialer for WM 6.5.x . So...
But I think there's no harm done by doing some pre-research on the 6.5 dialer on the "old" mini rom.
(Maybe you can open a new thread if you have some preliminary facts about this dialer. I really appreciate that. If you like to spend some time on this, of course )

Same problem here with a 23105 build. It seems to be a font issue that's affecting the whole system (if you're running Sense, look for example at the clock digits). Someone did some preliminary research on this:

For people trying to rip stuff from HTC devices... i was doing some work on the lockscreen from the HD Mini and i found that it is heavily dependant on the HTC branch.
it is possible that the phone canvas/caller ID stuff may have similar needs. Example, the lockscreen stores its info in the OEM reg.. builds from 216xx and 231xx are the only ones that actually look for that special reg entry. the others do not.
Also, are 235xx builds the only builds that come with Office 2k10/ threaded emails? i want to try other builds, but i dont wanna have to rip chunks just for those features.
Nope the hd mini lockscreen works fine in 25007 and 23542 for me

I was not going to comment on this issue but itje's response makes it worth my while. First I agree and I don't like to call people idiots no matter what, even if the name may fits for some.
This is the situation. When HtcPedia was formed several of the cooks and moderators moved over there. And there is nothing wrong with that. I know of many people who are moderators on more than just 1 board. But it was very strange and became very apparent that these few ELITE members loyalty belongs to HtcPedia as you will never see them posting links directly to XDA everything has to go through HtcPedia. Personally I think in many other forums it would not be allowed to have such links where you have to join a competitors forum to download a file listed on another forum. About the new builds and not sharing when they get it, the reason is simple. They have to give it to the ELITE members first so they can get their ROM's out first. TOM from htcpedia has even explained it in PM's to me before. And while I will not quote the PM, but I did try to reason with him about why he does this. I told him that this is even a slap in the face to his own members, as they watch the elite few get the builds before them. Tom's answer to this was it cost so much to run the site and he has the right to take care of his own first. But is this taking care of your own? The htcPedia site would be more popular and people would flood there if the new releases were released to all it's members, not just a few. People would be flocking to join the site.
Anyway Miri is a friend and I do not fault him personally, but the direction of TOM for this kind of ELITE distribution.
But hey at the end of the day we all have 2 feet. And we can choose where to walk. It is just a shame things are this way.

You got it working with a password lock on a 23542 build? Try it, you love it :)
EDIT: I actually don't suggest people to do this... (you will have to hardreset your device)

23515-23517-23518 - Windows CE: 5.2 Build 4510 (Dec 17, 2009. 15:53:41) All three builds came with XIP 23515. The only difference - 23518 was for the first time supplied by Office 2010.
It's a hidden ID from the build developers (I mean 4-digit ID). Five-digit number is a public identification from XIP and from Redist (cplmain and dsm).
Aaaa that solves the mystery, thanks Andrew.

IMHO you miss some points of the discussion.
In shortly .....mirror HTCPedia links here means less respect to the Admin and all the people that are making an hard work for XDA.
I have nothing against HTCPedia but the main rules are:
_ You post a rom on HTCPedia and you upload there.
_You post a rom on XDA and you upload to a free hosting site.
Thats why HTCPedia is a direct competitor of XDA,if it was a "cookies" site there would be no problems.
A basic example :
You will never find any HTC advertising or links to IPhone site, are the basic rules of commerce, but since we dont make commerce here ...can we follow only some basic rules of respect.?
Sorry this is my last not releated new builds post here....also because I see a change in the air about this issue.

sorg offers solution for PhoneCanvas.
You should replace
cprog.exe
pimstore.dll
tpcutil.dll
from 2354x builds.
Pre-tested on 28232, 23106, 21636
At 23106 and 21636 should be replaced and lockscreen.dll
Well if this is a solution for phonecanvas what about for call history... does all the replaced files fix that too?
Thanks in advance people

You can try to hide behind that excuse all you want but I and many other are not buying it. Yes there are times when releases do get handed down and those are told not to release them. But that is not the case with what has been going on with HtcPedia and you know it. These builds many of the time are found on the internet, sometimes already for the public use and HtcPedia will share with the elite team first then with the rest of their own members and other community afterwords. This I know because it came straight from the horses mouth TOM. Look it is their site and they can do exactly what they want with it. But there are some people here who are loyal to xda and don't like it, and I am one of them. For the most part with the exception of a few who are now in the elite group, you will not find cooks here using new sources and publishing ROM's with them before others. When the source is shared here at xda it is shared for all. Long Live XDA!!
I don't know everything, but I was taught right from wrong. And 2 things are sure 1 This is wrong. 2 This is the wrong place to discuss it.
But I'm sure if a thread was opened about this it would be closed hence the responses here.

@itje
We don't care you share or don't share leaked builds ( At least me ), but why do you guys release ROMs in XDA Dev with the builds which hasn't been shared in xda dev?
We don't even care what ROM with what ever build you release on other sites. BUT on XDA Dev, chefs/members should only release there ROMs with a build ( and even OEMs ) which has been shared to all in XDA Dev. If not don't release it!
Do you know how others feel? XDA Dev is all about sharing ( ALL JUST SAYS THIS BUT DOESN'T MEAN IT ) but its not, its cheating happening here. Why should we wait for leaked builds to be shared when a chefs/member on xda dev has been already released a ROM with that build?
Yes I know, this is common on this earth. But is it good to follow the same thing instead? Pulling collars by cheating.
This XDA Dev site isn't a one man army. To watch others eating and we sitting down and leaving water from our months! Every member is a part of this community and should be equally treated and provided. If you couldn't then don't show us your eating food.
Sorry my msg isn't to offence you or anybody but just my feelings and may be also others on xda dev. :o

Stop your whining -- you have nothing to complain about!
They are offering you access to free leaked files, and all you have to do is register at their site. Is that really too much to ask for FREE leaked files?
So, you get the files a few days or maybe a week (at most) later than their staff does. Really, why do you need them right away? Most "chefs" seem to forget that even just a year ago, the leaks were far and few between. A year before that, we rarely saw test and official roms leaked to the public.
Thanks to people like Tom Coden, Miri, conflipper, and Da_G (and others), this has changed in the recent past. We are now getting full sys builds and test roms leaked every week.
Really, PLEASE -- just shut your whiney mouths, and be grateful for the files that you are leaching.

most of these self-called "chefs" didn't even know what a kitchen was a year ago mate, never mind the things we used to go through.
but as you've already seen elsewhere they have no manners at all so I think we need these posts deleted now.. and get back on topic.
to add to my earlier post, looks like tpcutil takes care of the call history so it does do something.. I stand corrected
so to reiterate it looks like the three files that ALEXX stated are right
CPROG, PIMSTORE and TPCUtil..
oh and my notification manager appears to survive outgoing calls with that mix, not tested on incoming yet..

this was going on before you signed up, before I signed up, with a little searching I have found many reason why some chefs do not share builds when they get them .... for one if you were to search back you will find that these same staff members of chefs at one point would share what they got when they got it but their work and effort was stolen by the new guy who wants a cool bit of kit and no credit was given to these chefs for THEIR work
honestly I have read this thread many time where someone would get something make a rollup of it share it only to have some later post " do you have 218xx wvga 0409 vk ready" and I laugh because here it was posted and such user does not want to take the time to sort it out themselves
what I see is that alot of these guys who post these builds are going on and working for the money while some of here are waiting on welfare
believe me dude if you were to read some of the history here you will see why it is how it is .... take one of these dudes like dutty or tom and go back through every device that they have release a rom for and you will see what I am talking about

I second the notion to delete these whinging, whining, posts. Bobsbbq, alot of ppl help you when you ask pal why need to go on and on complaining? you are certainly a rude individual!
And what do you do you make another post to be cleaned up. You are not helping the matter by your post. If you want to direct something toward me you know where the PM button is. I'm not rude but I will tell it like it is. There are some people who will just lay around and let others do for them, and there are others that try to make things happen, then there are people who by nature question with reason. We are not all the same that is for sure but I have a brain and a voice to speak when I see something wrong. I unlike some am not scared to voice my opinion. I have the proof of what I told and it doesn't matter any more as they are are leaving XDA anyway. I think the rule with the links should have been done a long time ago. This has nothing to do with who has helped me or who I have helped. So for the last time if you want to continue the chat do it in a PM.

we would have shared 23544 tomorrow, perhaps even today with you guys, but...but sorry, since we are idiots...
I dont understand why people are so hippocratics and not honest.
From what I´ve been told from a chef here, is that htcpedia.com is "attacking" XDA, by bribing some of our best chefs with new Leo devices with the condition that they only release and host their ROMs on htcpedia.com. I was happy to know that some of them have refused.
So, it is clear to me that the only reason you share is having a new phone each 6 months by hosting Roms at htcpedia.com.
Thats why you are leaving. This is not fair play this is dirty and I dont understand why there are some known users here defending you. Maybe they did not knew the true reason
At least do the honest thing and leave once and for all.

Hi everyone,
LOL, it's fun reading all those posts bashing each others' throat. But to tell the truth, I'm sad that you guys did that, I mean, bashing each others' throat for the sake of getting new build faster/earlier.
Anyway, just be grateful that we ever receive any build at all. If someone happen to have his/her hand on new build, it is his/her right to whether he/she wants to share it or not. If he/she share it right away, it's good. But if he/she share it after a month, it's still good. But what if it is never shared? So, just be greatful.
For me, things are getting better this few years, as I remember it was very rare for someone to get any new build unless the person has connection. I might be wrong, I think Da_G is the person who started sharing new builds the moment he has one. Before him, we can only find new build as rom. Ok guys, this is not the way. I understand the commotion and I don't intend to silence it but I do -- as a mod -- propose to keep it out of this thread. What we have established is that this problem is very complex and has more sides to it, and thus far XDA's policy is not entirely clear.
I hope you can all find it in you to not add to the discussion here, again because this is not the place nor the way to solve it.
I appreciate your understanding,

It would be very sad if his work caused people to think that they always have the right to new builds. So, again, just be greatful of what we have.
I have sent you a PM

Take your own advice!

interesting, I didnt find changing tpcutil made any difference, and im still getting notification manager crashing same as whenever i just change cprog.
I do agree pimstore must be involved some how.
I wonder if theres an intermediary driver somewhere that is causing the issue
proxy "driver" tpcutil.dll is tied very tight (:)) to server cprog.exe. There is change in structures in cprog.exe in newer builds. So if you won't change tpcutil.dll then this structure will be messed and you will get different kind of problems with dialer. It can be very slow or even crash.
So, changing tpcutil.dll is mandatory.

I am getting the message "Cannot complete the call. Signal may be unavailable or phone number may not be valid". I am using WIFI to connect to the VOIP service provider
Can any of you help in resolving the problem please.

Hello guys!
I've been away for some time but I may have more times to play with Rom Cooking...
Can anyone re-explain the differences between different COM Series and 2XXX numbers ? I found many info about those on different forums but starting to get lost :o)
For cooking for touch diamond and for touch pro, are there prefered release or all can work ? (I've seen some COM are dedicated to HTC but don't really understand...)
I have kitchens for both so now I'm just looking for the ROM to use that will fit my preferences ;) (I know some are more guy updates, some are office, other stuff, ..... I'm lost :p)
Thanks!

Of the significance, I'm not sure, but - yes, you can use one from an earlier rom or build, but you must use one. I know from experience that the rom I once built without including .rom behaved in a very peculiar way ;)
I now have the .rom in my OEM folder which means its always there even if not included in the SYS packages :D

For those who are having problem with 23544 rollup,
Check the modules in all folders in Sys.
The files are also included in the modules.
Iam trying to cook after removing the duplicate files inside modules(I personally prefer modules instead of recmoding).

i got a quick question for u.
i used a touch pro nk on my diamond to get a real wm6.5 aku...
it work's perfect, no more need for recmodding packages and the rom is a lot faster and such.
anyways... when i look at the device "MODEL NO" it says "RAPH800" instead of "DIAM500".
there really is no issues with it so far, but i was wondering if there is any way to change it.
thanks in advance.
btw... 23544 rollup works perfect for me.

Why are you using different oemxipkernels? The normal procedure is to use the same one on all builds. Sounds like you may be using the wrong nk. If you're talking about a raphael, there are two of them, and the second doesn't have a few modules-the ones in the first are for debugging.
There's a thread at everything diamond about using the TP nk.exe in diamonds. I believe it's for cdma devices, and it does work.

I have a problem with updating my build on a danish ROM... I've found it to be an issue with the localization within SYS (since I use the same SYS-folder for three languages, and only danish won't work). With the shipped SYS I get it to work without problems.
My problem is that I never get to the "setup screen" after 2st bootup. After some time waiting for the custimization to end, it loads sense 2.5, but all phone features won't work becuase I'm never asked for PIN-code...

Try adding this value to Danish initflashfiles.dat
Directory("\Windows\*Startup in Danish*"):-File("CheckAutoRun.lnk","\Windows\CheckAutoRun.lnk")
And check your danish OEM file and see if nothing is missing.
Hope this helps.

I believe it's for cdma devices, and it does work.
oh, i was just comparing the build, because i couldn't figure out why the 23544 XIP/SYS build wasn't work, but my 21877 was. and im cooking for a GSM Rhodium

Try adding this value to Danish initflashfiles.dat
Directory("\Windows\*Startup in Danish*"):-File("CheckAutoRun.lnk","\Windows\CheckAutoRun.lnk")
And check your danish OEM file and see if nothing is missing.
Hope this helps.
I'm trying now... Hope it helps, but I can't see a entry like that in my other initflashfiles.dat files... :o
/edit
Didn't work... What can be missing in the OEM? It works with the same OEM folder when using the native sys build...
Thanks

Are you rebuilding the xip, using your own oemxipkernel? That's what you're supposed to do (never done it myself, EVK does it for you). If you're using a xip that you just downloaded, it's probably for another device. You need the on oemxipkernel for the rhodium.

1. Try navigating to "Windows" folder, and find the Startup (Translated to danish) file, it must be the same.
2. Compare 0409 folder in OEM to danish one
And for Sense 2.5 popping up during customization edit this registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Skip1stBooting"=dword:1
1=disabled 0=enabled
Hope this helps.

Hmm.. Still no luck :( I tried to replace the htc startup with norwegian files, the connection setup and comm manager, but no luck there eighter...
When I reboot the phone, it starts the "custimizing the phone for first time use" again, so it may be that the first customization didn't finish? or?

If according to u that is the case that what is similar is the processor motherboard or something else.
And again if that is the condition then devices like opal, gene, elfin extra can swap nk.exe ?
Edit: I mean swaping between each other as they are all based on omap850 more over elfin and opal are almost exactly the same with same specs. And earlier i have asked many people and all said that let it me not similar but same still nk.exe is very device specific.

it doesn't really look the same inside the file using an hex editor... i can only find the raphael string... not the raph800(in mt case it's raph800).

Probably about the closest you are going to get is to look in the Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps thread, download some of the themes and see what they change. There may be some tutorials around in there as well.

thanks man... trying to cook right now and see if it worked.
if it works... i can change to what ever i like... cool
it doesn't really look the same inside the file using an hex editor... i can only find the raphael string... not the raph800(in mt case it's raph800).
it did cook it after changing... lets see how it looks after i flash...
no go on changing...
edit:
i did notice that some other files ahve the raph instead of diamond in it also... maybe thats it... i'll try again later.
ok... so i got it to work... now, another question for anyone who knows how this things work.
since the touch pro has some more feature than the diamond.... some references in the nk.exe are for sliding the keyboard out and such...
ok... so i'm trying to compare it with the dimanod nk.exe to take out all of those unnecessary things from the touch pro nk.exe, just because the stylus reference is probably in the wrong location so when u pull it out it doesn't know u did...
my question is.... can i do that and be sure that if i was able cooked with the changes everything will work the same? and maybe get the stylus to react again?
or maybe i should leave it alone because it's hopeless?

The XIP (OEMXIPKernal and MSXIPKernal) are at the top of slot zero, note the ROM1 size difference.Thanks. But I didn't change the number of modules under ROM which contains the OEMXIPKernal and MSXIPKernal. I only convert more files into modules under EXT/SYS between the two cases.
Let me graph case 1 below to have better understand how memory is being used:
1. Does it mean even VK reports 0 modules being partition into slot 0, there could still modules being partition in slot 0 (which is ROM1 being part of slot 0), which took 6M of available VM.
2. Since 1, does it mean even 6.5 native kernel gives a lot more space with extra slots, we still have to only modularize system dll that would be important and loads in every reset? Not application dll. For example, dll for Skype, MSN ...etc.
3. Normally, what is being store in in ROM0 (256k), {???} (256k), ROM1 (seems to be vary but 6M in case 1 and 5M in case 2)?
---------- 0x2000000
|
{ROM0} 256k
|
---------- 0x1fc0000
|
{???} 256k
|
---------- 0x1f80000
|
{Rom1} 6M
|
---------- 0x18d0000
avail |
VM 24M
|
---------- 0x0060000

Just do it and find out. :D
time limitation...
i don't want to spend an hour just to find out it wasn't doable to begin with... but i guess i will have to check it out myslef.
thanks for pointing out the hex editor in the first place man... it really helped.
btw... to anyone who is interested in this, or need it i've attached my patched nk.exe folder that will show the right device on the MODEL NO.

I think the 8-9 MB of VM you see missing in slot 0 is just due to the dll's that are loaded into the slot. There aren't any modules being mapped there (your memory map shows that), but you lose ~8 MB of VM in every slot because of the dll's that occupy the addresses at the top of each slot. You usually only have ~24 MB of virtual memory to work with for any process because of all the dll's that are loaded by the other running processes.

its been since 1.08 that i compared them, but the only difference i saw in cdma raph/diam nk was the 2nd display. everything else should be in oemdrivers. you wont be able to make the changes you desire in a hex editor, youd need a disassembler.

you can... i suggest reading all the tutorials you can on this website related to your device. i would also read some of the posts about little tweaks you can make without changing the ROM.
good luck in your quest... if you are like most you will quickly find yourself wasting days upon days making your device "your device"

Man, your not kidding! I'm now on the quest to free up more ram (hermes), so I'll be editing all the image files soon. Any other suggestions for freeing up some ram (program), would be appreciated. I'm willing to read through any links anyone has on the subject.
So far, 23541 seems like an awesome build, been running it for several days, and I may finally be hooked on 6.5!

Easy ways to free ram: use as little htc apps as possible. Use the stock MS dialer and chome or today. Set the caches to dynamic in boot.rgu (0). Clean up your startup folder, and run only the processes you need. Set the page pool to something small, like 12 MB.

Great advice, but I'd set PP to 4 or 6, and I've seen alot of people use 0. Be crazy and set to 0. :)

I'm actually using 0 now, but you use more ram that way. I had more ram on my fuze (maybe 2 MB) at startup with it set at 12, because the page pool sets a governer on how much ram you can use (as far as I can tell). It sometimes goes crazy (jeez, run an .mp3 through wmplayer and it uses 100 MB of memory), but it works pretty well.
