What he's implying is that you used an old skinned dll, that doesn't have the new RCData that's microsoft added in the dll that make up the picture's you're looking for. You should use the dll that came with this build and reskin it or check a post from darkfang that has a vid that explains hows to copy the RCData over to the old dll, 12

Try reading back a few pages. I already talked about this on Build 23028. The RCData section of the Shellres.96(Your DPI).dll is missing. The new Shellres dll has a new set of images in it.

I had SMS issue once, and I replaced phone and redist dpi from a known working build. It went away. You might want to try that...

For me the SMS App is working properly :confused: When i removed the webview it wasnt good for me, but when i put it back it has been OK. maybe there is a module problem, i removed a lot things from sys and maybe i havent got an incorrect module. I dont know :confused:

and my oem cant be smaller than this. i have no nonsense left in my oem and it works fine with build 23017.

I searched on all CPR files but couldn't find what you said/mentioned. :confused:

I found <Layer ID="Appointment"......... on LS_LockScene_***x***.cpr files but there isn't Visible="False"

However, I found another way. icn_cal_up.png and/or icn_cal_dn.png file(s) is the one displayed on lockscreen ( In wrong place ). I made those images transparent and the icon got invisible on lockscreen. I don't know if this is the right solution; plz let me know if its wrong or right!

Should of just added the visible="False". It's set to True so it shows 24/7. False means it only shows when there's an active appointment.

Another problem. :(

There are few icons missing on Startmenu -> Settings -> Persional. Most of all, Input setting is missing and due to this Options... doesn't work in SIP menu/list.

I don't know if this was already told few post back, if so I apologies.

Since it's Beta & we aren't supposed to have, god knows When M2D/TF3D/HTC Dialer/EZInput/HTC Task Manager/Total Commander/Resco Explorer/ETC will be updated & fixed. They're forms were writen for the old layout with 26 pixel top & buttom bars. Unless someone know how to edit these apps, it'll be a while.

This also causes the onscreen SIP to be slow. You have to waut a few millaseconds before typing next letter :( Anybody? Or do we know where the magnifier part is kept? maybe I can remove that part or change with older build since I really dont need that OR the titlebar list. Speaking of titlebar list, has anyone found a way to make the icon for speaker read from shellres instead of HTCVolumeControl? Looks funny with 1 different icon there.

Anyone found a fix for the gap between the upper bar and the upper corner of the manila screen? Needs to be shifted up a bit as the lower bar overlaps manila. Screens were posted befor (quote).

Well I replaced \htmlnote.dll\*.* with that of 23025 & now I can write SMS!

In summary,

enabled webview (let me open SMS - but could see nothing)
replaced \htmlnote.dll\*.* with that of 23025

am writing in big cause its one of the major questions cropping up in my mind.

Why is the softkey bar big. To make it more fingerfriendly acc to m$.?? But the only place to click on the softkeybar is the buttons which have approx the size of the previous softkeybar. And rest of the surrounding area up and down of the buttons is wasted. So what the use of making it fat. Cut the surplus area and keep the softkeybar's size same as the button size just like the top taskbar which has height almost equal to the icons.

Any reasons and idea why m$ doing it?? I prefer it the softkey bar small, just to the size of the buttons.

I'm trying 23034 build and I meet some issues :
- when I try to change my ringtone by Start -> Settings -> Sound & Notifications, WM tells me the file I select I damaged (whatever it is...)
- when I receive a new SMS, there's no sound, but when I receive a call I can hear the ringtone
- some parts in 040C MUIs are not translated, but that's not important after all

As it has been said before these are all new MS UI changes that we are try to use with older builds OEM and EXT packages. I'm sure in the near future some of the new devices will be released and we will get new packages as well. I for one like the way things are progressing and I find 23034 the best of the new UI builds so far. Still some issues but it's getting better.

well have you tried to push the space around the buttons with your stylus once? you might have found out, that buttons are more like the a whole square at the certain part of the bottom bar. the buttons might me just for your eyes to recognize, that in the button area is the place to push. and the surrounding is for the bad coordination between eyes and hand :D
just modify the theme and get rid of the "buttons" and your eyes might not might your brain thing too much about it anymore.
by the way :D with the bold typing you use, you shouldn't be too unhappy to have macheing buttons in your OS.
keep it cool and enjoy the progression


ooo i forgot to mention :D have you ever taken a closer look at vista or windows7? it is the same issue. round button, bigger bar, and you can activate by "miss"hitting the button

Using the new initflashfiles.dat from da_g the help icon is not created in start menu although the entry is there in the file. I guess the help.lnk is not present in the sys,although haven't checked.

Also I don't know why, the icons in themes_dpi_96 qvga for start menu, ok button and close button are 32x32 instead of 16x16 :confused:

Font issue with titanium is still there although this is better than 23030.

But apart from these issues, This build is quiet good for normal use, after so much time I have been able to say that. Start menu to the bottom bar is a welcome change. Its very much reachable now for single hand use. :)

Sorry, what I meant was with magnifier disabled can you type normally. If I type fast it seems to miss a letter here and there. Also, when using resco explorer it is a bit tricky to open folders and files(I have set to "doubletap to open"). I think because of the magnifier the OS is looking at the second quick tap to open magnifier, but with magnifier disabled it does not recognize a second quick tap :(
Also, here is a script I include in my ROMs "Administrative" folder to eneble/disable magnifier :)

Yes, the help files are removed from base lang package including index file. I guess M$ is doing new things with help too.

BTW; all the help buttons on some settings window are also removed!

Oh yeah! its truth is another thing that MS must work on... the speed of our fingers... in the SIP apps, the fast taps in typing letters pad... thinks it must launch the magnifier... its true i had that issue too... but, i have a Full qwerty hardware keyboard so dont need the sip. I use it sometimes and agree with you. :cool:

Sorry, what I meant was with magnifier disabled can you type normally. If I type fast it seems to miss a letter here and there. Also, when using resco explorer it is a bit tricky to open folders and files(I have set to "doubletap to open"). I think because of the magnifier the OS is looking at the second quick tap to open magnifier, but with magnifier disabled it does not recognize a second quick tap :(
Also, here is a script I include in my ROMs "Administrative" folder to eneble/disable magnifier :)

I have noticed this too. I have to double tap slowly (sometimes over and over) to zoom in Opera. I didn't even think that it might be related to the disabled magnifier.

The Resco explorer thing has been going on (for me at least) since the first gui changes back in the 219XX SYS series.

Both of these things are annoying but I've learned to live with them. I haven't really tried myself but if anyone finds a fix it would be totally appreciated.

I've been running 23034 for about 2 hours now, and have noticed no instabilities (I've done a few of my usual changes, cleaning up the SYS, and it's using my own OEM packs - OEMDrivers, Comm manager, and that's about it).

I am testing it for someone else and you've indirectly answered my question. I don't see why you are upset and I've never said anything about blaming non-functioning feature of this build. I do see many said they fix the taskbar (hidding the taskmanger icon) but I don't see a solution posted, maybe I missed it. The problem also exist on the screenshot post on the 1st page. Can U enlight me? But I am starting to think it LG Incite specific because it has it own LGXbutton...Hmm....

no, my understanding disagrees with the response you were given. since you have a native kernel, you dont need to recmod. you have plenty of space available in both examples. keep them as modules.

Unfortunately the STOCK resources for other languages contain many obvious errors, it is necessary to check and fix everything.
For 0419, for other languages - I do not know.
There is a possibility that some error due STOCK resources.

Sounds more like opperator error! If you have Hard Spl on your device this is safe, you have to try pretty hard to "brick" a Hard Spl'ed device! Make sure all Image code in the CPR's LOOK like this;

ScaleStyle can be changed to Fit for images like ATFavPeople Contacts. Also make sure there's no Clip="False" in the line. I did this & the animation bug seems to have calmed down. It does still accure, but not as much.

Pretty much my thought. They make a build, it gets "leaked" (yeah ok lol). We get it & start flahing it on every device known to man. We post Bugs galore & some fix for those Bugs. They see what we find & handle it. Next Build gets released 2 days later lol.

issue solved guys. As suggested i included webview this time and my sms is working as it used to. All fine. Do this and report.

I am using an updated kitchen that was taken from the orginal 6.5 Da_G thread. I have not changed the OEMDrivers folder from then. I will assume RAPH oem drivers. Since it has not mattered with previous builds (23030), i didnt think i would have to look there. I can do some extra searching for OEMDrivers more geared for Fuze.

to tell you the truth i don't think is there anymore, i have stock lockscreen and i have not experienced any laggy animation coming from it. any other way you want me to test?

update: oh no no wait you were referring at the first time you lock the screen after flashing? yes it does it the first time you boot after flashing. i get a 4 to 6 seconds black screen then it shows the lockscreen.

Well, using standard WM Lock Screen with my CPR's in the ROM TPC made & no laggines in 23034.

Haven’t made any changes to lock screen and no lag here.

edit: sys\lockscreen is one thing i recmod, my lockscreen.dll is a file. does that disprove your theory?

Yes, the current tools compress everything that goes into a ROM with either XPR or LZX depending which you're using (basically what happens is every stream is compressed, and then compared against the uncompressed copy. If the compressed copy is physically smaller, it's used in the ROM. If the uncompressed copy is smaller, it's used. But as you can imagine the uncompressed copy is almost never smaller, so basically the entire ROM is compressed. Compression flags in .dsm and imageinfo.bin are never taken into account.

Fixed, deleted the HKCU:ControlPanel\BackLight\LockLevel registry directory...

Do that & install attached CAB to Disable LockScreen Dimming & the Magnifier on double tap.

i have the stock lockscreen 23034 on QVGA when i lock my device i see only the background and i can't do nothing.. the only help is Hard reset

Well I noticed we are mssing a few registry Directories mentions in the LockScreen.dll

Incase anyone wants to help try getting it working. The CPR code no longer breaks LockScreen in Build 23034.

Here's a CAB I created with Registry Added & a Landscape only QVGA CPR for Development & Testing Purposing of making LockScreen WMP Control working. I figure the Reg has got to look something like this following the Example of the HKLM:Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Notificat ion\Email Registry Directory. Just need to figure out the App Filepath & Parameters. Also, the Layout is missing the OnInitComplete="Binding:LS_***" code for the Media Control.

NOTE: THIS IS MEANT FOR DEVELOPER WHO WANT TO HELP TRY TO MAKE IT WORK. IT IS NOT WORKING YET.

You can probably do something like that with the 23033/23034 Build real easy with the right button/taskbar icon skins. Just the Start would be on the Left & X/OK on Right & no changing them to display stuff, but at least it'd be close & pretty simple skin job, & not require WAD2 or what ever.

I haven't working manila and is because i'm cooking in another language.... i was looking in tools/certificates7 and all the programs is with 0409 and no 0c0a... is this important? maybe is this why don't work manila?

I think no. He cooked/cooks for HTC Artemis and its ROM doesn't work for your HTC Touch Elfin. :)

Great Windows flag is already in 96dpi of Windows Live. Just took it from there :).
And he made standart button's icons transparent, so the whole taskbar now looks tranpasrent. As for OK and X they are easy to find anywhere ;).

I wouldn't like to upload my stuffs because you can download them if you use google, and you just have to edit them. I use some original Windows images, just made them to transparent, so these are easy things, the best way to learn is just do it for yourself. You will get some experience if you wanna make a nice custom rom. You just need some time, but if you wanna do it, you will do it, the time isn't important :)

The stuffs what i use arent 1:1 copies, i usually edit them, but thanks for everyone, who shared these with us.

I used a lot the Jasc's Paint Shop Pro software.

Sorry, what I meant was with magnifier disabled can you type normally. If I type fast it seems to miss a letter here and there. Also, when using resco explorer it is a bit tricky to open folders and files(I have set to "doubletap to open"). I think because of the magnifier the OS is looking at the second quick tap to open magnifier, but with magnifier disabled it does not recognize a second quick tap :(
Also, here is a script I include in my ROMs "Administrative" folder to eneble/disable magnifier :)

I have this same issue. Have you found a fix or anything yet? It's really hard to type an e-mail or anything with this problem :(

Thanks, but this doesn't work for me. If I keep tapping the keyboard (MS SIP or FingerKeyboard) about 100 times in a row it will only ever write out one letter. If I press one letter every second or so, it works fine.

There's no Shellres.96.dll that WORKS that has White Icons in the Enlarged Title Bar. In order to do that you need to edit the RCData items in the DLL.

In Build 23034, the Pivot Background is an Image. I think it's classicblue_pivot_(ImageName).png. The TSK needs registry for these 3 new images. The Background, Left Arrow, & Right Arrow.

OK, so here's all the images & Registry you'll need to skin Build 23034. These are QVGA so remember to scale to your Resolution. (Example: QVGA Image is 16x16 than VGA's should be 32x32, just double the #.) Also adjust DPI setting in Reg as needed.

CPR's are all QVGA for reference mainly.

I actually wrote a simple tool to read the XML files and displays the layout. It is also able to modify the layout and save it back to the XML files. Not sure whether to release it as currently there isn't much app written by HTC that uses the XML file as layout. This particular layout is also used by Album 3.

When I cook these older files into 23034, this specific error goes away, and it replaced with a new one that still appears to be .net related. I can't get a screenshot right now as I am posting from my phone (installing Win7 RTM [legally]). I can reproduce the issue with ATContacts installed from CAB.

Furthermore, EzInput 2.1 seems to be broken as well. When trying to switch to Numeric mode, the keyboard disappears, and shows what ever window is open underneath the current window. For me, it showed Chome instead of Compose SMS.

Anyone else run into these with the new build?

Issue with GAC files is with me for 23017, 23024, 23025, 23031, 23033 and 23034. Need to replace them from 23016.

Issue with EzInput numberic mode is confirm as I am also having this issue. Didn't notice that in 23033 but can confirm that in 23031, it is working fine.

I posted this problem I'm having before but receives no reply from it. I'm having an issue where while scrolling, if I slow down the movement of my finger, all interface seems to stop. If I change direction, then it suddenly jump to where it suppose to be. If I release my finger, it will be recognized as if I flick my finger.

This happens everywhere, Start Menu, Manila3D's tab, Opera and ect. I tried cooking only the SYS files (without additional packages) and the problem is still there. Would really appreciate any solution if available.

Yes, I see the same .net errors such as when trying to start LiveSearch or Bing.

Also, something has changed with the SIP because Resco Keyboead Pro no longer works either.

hi frnd. i am facing similar issue but wasnt able to find a soln. and my eyes dropping bad as its sleep time. if any1 could provide a cab of the fix then it'll be really great.

Doesnt 23031 have the same behaviour? I thought the magnifier started in around 23022 :confused: Will give it a try either way :)
EDIT: So I tested this theory and it is correct, except I had to go all the way back to 23016. Gwes also controls the button images on bottom bar and the size in settings items like "Home" and "Buttons"(really zoomed in on 23034). So, can anyone else confirm 23031 working for them? I'd like to keep the images on bottom bar and lose the wierd double tap and keyboard issues. Thanks

Quick question, anyone that knows can answer, Do I need to put any modules from my dumped base ROM into the MSXIPKernel for 23034? or do I leave it and use the MSXIPKernel? Or.... do I port the whole MSXIPKernel from my base ROM and use that? Just asking cause no matter what I do I cant get a bootable ROM on my Rhodim, I haent touched any files in the SYS or OEMXIPKernel and I have swiched out the res\resh files to 480x800! All these SIP issues may be related to my hardware keyboard issue. I am using EzInput 2.1 and the layout file should dictate keyboard layout, however it does not. If that part is broken, maybe the part you guys have as an issue is also broken.

Current Steps to resolve.
Cooked EzInput 1.5 -> Didnt work
Cooked Previous XIP -> Didnt work
I was asked to look into my OEMDrivers, but since there wasnt an issue before, not sure what it will help..
If i come accross something that does work, i will post it up.

Okay, on the icon at the bottom of the LockScreen that is showing up, in looking at it it seems to me that the reason it is showing up now is because the Top TaskBar is narrower now. Looks to me like instead of changing the visibility to False, we need to change the height of the screens instead to add the additional room on the display. You can see the same issue when you have the lockscreen on and you get an incomming call. The bottom of the screen stops before the bottom of the display allowing what is underneath to be shown.

Problem is, I don't know what needs to be changed to extend the height of the sceens. That is which files .png's or .cpr's

Any help on this?

Ok, I just built a 23034 ROM on my Rhodium and the softkey bar shows white and the phone and camera softkeys are jammed into the left corner and the start text is still in the top left corner but doesnt open the start menu just the titlebar! What could be causing this do dyou think? :)

For those that had problems with ezinput 2.1, were you using the Mega packages (Da_G's rom dump (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541625)), or pcarvalho's version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535326)?

After switching to pcarvalho's and making it an OEM (I deleted out the stuff that was in Framework), I can switch between numbers and letters again.

Since I was having issues trying to zoom in Opera with Magnifier enabled, I poked around the Registry, and noticed this key:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\MAGNIFIER\EXCLUDE]
Under that key, there are sub keys for CPROG & IEXPLORE. I added one for OPERA, and then under it added the key for "PROCESS"="OPERA9.EXE", and Magnifier no longer bothers me in Opera :).

I actually wrote a simple tool to read the XML files and displays the layout. It is also able to modify the layout and save it back to the XML files. Not sure whether to release it as currently there isn't much app written by HTC that uses the XML file as layout. This particular layout is also used by Album 3.

How do I get the custimazation screen? mine never does that! Is it located in the OEM folder? :)


you have a tp2 so instead of autorun you would be using runcc which should start on its on via registry in the package so make sure that you are including the runcc package

Okay, on the icon at the bottom of the LockScreen that is showing up, in looking at it it seems to me that the reason it is showing up now is because the Top TaskBar is narrower now. Looks to me like instead of changing the visibility to False, we need to change the height of the screens instead to add the additional room on the display. You can see the same issue when you have the lockscreen on and you get an incomming call. The bottom of the screen stops before the bottom of the display allowing what is underneath to be shown.

Problem is, I don't know what needs to be changed to extend the height of the sceens. That is which files .png's or .cpr's

No, it needs to be Visible="False" It is only supposed to show when your have Active Appointments & the whole section (Clock/Appointments) moves upward to make room for it. This is why there's an OnInitComplete="Binding:LockScreen,LS_Appointments". This tells CHome to only show the Visible="False" items if there's an active Appointment. Same as how Titanium aka CHome has Visible="False" on pretty much everything. This way they only show when called to show & you don't see every Condensed & Expanded Plugin Layout all the time. It is how CHome works.
