any solution for the distorting titanium texts?
nhatminh87
26th August 2009, 06:53 PM
yes it seems to be a font size error... maybe deleting the values the os will adapt the font size to the normal size.
+QuePPC:
I try 23036 with 23034 dpi and this error with remove programs and certificationswas fix:).But maybe because of 23034 dpi so i has other error ex:no keyboard:(.So maybe with 23036dpi soon i hope it will better than 23034 althought it won't change so much:D

any solution for the distorting titanium texts?
I am looking forward to this as well. In my case (23034) titanium text is not distorted when I scroll, but the quality of the letters deteriorates. Its like they start fading away, getting blurry.

well it's just an omnia, and the text in the titanium menus are more and more distorted every time i scroll over them
I am on the Kaiser and I don't get the distortions you show in your screen shots, but the text in Titanium DOES get blurry. IOW the clarify of the fonts gets distorted; and that with 60MB of free RAM; so it must not have anything to do with RAM and it must be related to something else. Does anybody know how to fix that problem?

You probably need the DPI from 23036 to fix it. The keyboard is skinned differently in this build. See attached screenshot. The button that toggles the symbols (usually) seems to have been replaced with a button that switches to a different language keyboard (Arabic?).

include everything and try. if you are not using a native 6.5 nk.exe, you need to flatten modules. make sure you are including wince.nls somewhere.

Hello cookers!
I've been playing with Da_G kitchen from a while now and gets many nice results. I've learned a lot here but I know I still have to learn stuff so I have some questions for you cookers!! maybe I'm not in the good thread but cannot find where to post these questions (I'm a search addict!), excuse me if I'm not in the good place and do not hesitate to redirect me ;)
So my questions :
I discovered that all files in my EXT packages are duplicate in "\windows", is there a way to remove them from it ? or is it better to remove app.dat "copy instructions" to point lnk files directly to the windows directory ?
Someone asked me if it is possible to uninstall applications I added in the ROM, is there a proper way (recommandation?) to allow users to remove added applications ?
I still don't understand how sdautorun works...looks like it's not starting by itself in the end of flash! when I run it manually it looks to be doing some stuff but nothing visible after restart. Maybe I should setup some app by here instead of EXT packages ? (am I wrong?)
@Da_G : is there an update to the kitchen you shared for the RAPH (I mean executable files, not OEM/ROM/SYS/XIP stuff )
I think that's all for now, thanks for any help you can provide, it's pretty hard to find answers using search functions for this kind of things.....
See Ya'!

Every file in the packages goes into \windows-that's the read only memory directory. There's no easy way to get around that. The app.dat files copy things from windows into other directories (like program files or the start menu). You can install all your apps and what-not with cab files (read on). This may save some space in the rom if the cabs are compressed, and also cuts down on the # of files in \windows.
If you want things to be uninstallable, you need to install them as a cab file (that is uninstallable). The cab installation runs during customization. You basically stick the cab into an EXT package in the files folder, and then add an add2config.txt with the below line in it.
cab: \windows\nameofcab.cab
I put the add2config in the same folder as the cab, but I think you can also put it in the root folder of the EXT. Overall, it's just like running a cab with UC.
I think your sdautorun problems are because you're missing some lines in your initflashfiles.dat (in OEM_O409_Lang, or something like that). It's been mentioned earlier in the thread a few times. I personally just use the same one over and over again, so haven't had any issues.

About cabs and ext : so app.dat is making copy from "Storage Memory" to "Program Memory" (the 2 thing we can see in Settings/Memory ?). anyway sounds great to use cabs for some app, for some other I may leave them in windows directory only (I hate loosing space with duplicate stuff when useless)...Should it bring problems having too much files in "\windows" ?

Yeah, the app.dat makes a copy; some programs need to be run out of their own directory, but I guess if you know what you're doing (I don't, lol), you can get something like Opera to run right out of \windows instead of the \windows\Opera9 folder. Obviously, start menu shortcuts have to get into the start menu one way or another, but there are probably plenty of apps that can just be dumped into \windows.
You can read some of noonski's posts; he talks a lot about reducing the # of files in \windows. It's also discussed in the Extendir thread. Lowering the # of files in there can in theory make the rom faster. It obviously makes it easier to go in and poke around in there, too.
You can always run your cabs off your sd card to save space. There's no law against it, lol.

I know a little what I'm doing when leaving some applications in "windows" directory...to me only badly programmed applications need hardcoded/fixed folder names (I'm talking here as a programmer). So I will test with my own applications and step by step to minimize those file copy...
thanks for noonski tip, will have a look later (here is midnight and my dog claims for her right to go out a 3rd time)...
about running cabs from the SD card : yes but I like having all in a single file (the famous raphimg.nbh) then I have a small "Apps" folder with additional cab files for things I'm the only one to use (ever heard of SameTime ? lol)
will test all those things tomorrow, I'm out for today!!
thanks for tips and will come back here with results :)

Very good! I hope it'll works, but i don't think so....
Maybe the next build
Waiting for 0410 MUIs from Da_G and than i'll try it!
Thanks for the info!
Yeah there's still a few other factors like the Registry I found in Build 23034. If the registry isn't set & the CPR's don't have the OnInitComplete, the DLL Update won't matter. Need all 3 factors complete. This is Why Titanium Settings didn't work early on. I fixed the Registry found comparing it to SmartPhone 6.1 CHome registry & got 3 pages working for Settings.

Da_G, for those of us cooks that make ROMs/Kitchens for multiple languages, it's a very lengthy process to download each language without a paid rapidshare account as you have to wait between each download. Would it be feasible to upload the whole thing (every language in one package) up as well also? (You don't even have to organize them or separate the DPI's and RES's. We can do that all ourselves using the sorter program.

The desktop version (riched20.dll) allows for rich text (and HTML) editing in Outlook
Check that you can create emails and that Word still works

I prefer Univershal Share Downloader, but I have problem that rapidshare has with our ISP about 50% avaibility, so I usually download all three files three times before I get whole SYS in 0405 lang and it takes almost two hours.
But I have friends that download it for me and upload it elsewhere lol.
PS: I prefer megaupload or 4shared, no waiting times (I mean the 15 minutes between downloads) and it is working all the time.

I am fine with your rapidshare, but it couldnt hurt to have a private ftp for this stuff. No lines and faster DL's :) Just thought I would mention it. If you cant get hold of him, I can talk to the admins at skinzone.org to get you ftp space there. This could also save from the ocaasional scare and removal of files by rapidshare.

Hey just for info, if anyone is cooking a qvga rom with these files and 96 dpi posted by Ankit360 in the Gene forum, the dpi files are having issues with start menu. Its the same issue that once came in 230xx branch where on scrolling the menu, icons become garbled. So take corrective measures, if you know any, before cooking with the start menu cprs.

Dude, your question is not clear. You would only know what you want to change.
However, if you want to know what you can change - it's only MSXIPKERNEL. It's so because OEMXIPKERNEL has to be same as that in your current ROM and Native Kernel ( nk.exe) is worth changing only if you have a 6.5 Native Kernel, which I guess you don't.

Hi guys,
Please tell me if there is a way to increase the size of the top bar a bit, as you can see in the screenshot it looks like it's been cut!!! .. is this related to registry setting or some png file problem
In the start menu, smooth scrolling does not work
it works but it's like moving the page and it stops.. that up/down effect(smooth scrolling or kinetic scrolling) whatever does not work. if you push up depending the pressure it keeps scrolling right. that does not work.. got to be a registry setting
Close button and Start button appears on both the top and bottom bars as you can see in the screenshot..

Hey!
I'm happy to not being the only one!
I have an idea or two in mind but will make more tests...Sashimi looks nice but I prefer to put "the minimum as possible" stuff in the ROM.
One of my idea is to develop kind of SDAutorun.exe that would browse the windows folder for CAB files, prompt the user if he wants to setup some or all, then remove those useless files. Should also do some cleanup of duplicate files in "program files" (remove files from windows that are in program files, maybe using kind of xml list file cooked in rom)...many ideas but so little time to develop & test!
I may be out of the web a week or two because of work  so I may take time to make this kind of tool...first tool should be a cleanup tool that clean those duplicate files, second would be to play with cabs but not sure...would love my ROM to flash, ask you wether you wants app1 or not, setup all things nice then clean useless stuff.
If any ideas PM or post here, I will try to read the forum tomorrow...
Thanks to all for all I've learned here, will have fun cooking "offline" so when I'll be back I'm sure there will be something like a hundred more posts to read.....
See Ya'!!!

I discovered that all files in my EXT packages are duplicate in "\windows", is there a way to remove them from it ? or is it better to remove app.dat "copy instructions" to point lnk files directly to the windows directory ?
If this was answered, I apologize, I didn't see it. So in case in wasn't...
This is normal. ALL files and modules are initially placed in the root of windows (take a look at your temp\dump after build. That's the \Windows folder), then copied to specific locations based off of the initflashfiles.dat which is built from the app.dat files. Typically, you would want to modify the ext package application to just run from the windows folders. Some applications need no modifications and will just work. You will just need to adjust the "shortcut" being copied. Otherwise you can try editing the RGU's or any ini files the program uses to change the paths and see what happens. Sometimes, you cannot avoid having the files copied to other folders.
I have successfully modified my EXT's to the point that only a handful of files need copied to subfolders (mainly Opera).

Does new build have a lock problem
The only problem I have seen with the LockScreen besides some alignment issues is that the first time you access the lockscreen after a soft reset, the lock has a delay of 4-5 seconds and the unlock has a delay of some seconds also. After the first time lockong and unlocking, I do not see the delay anymore until another soft reset. I think Da_G made some posts about this and thinks it might be due to the tools used to create the ROM. I'm sure he is looking at it.
I would just suggest locking and unlocking it once before you actually need to use it and see if that helps.

Someone posted a fix about this several day ago. The fix was to make the task mangaer icon transparent instead of using an actual image. I don't remember who posted the fix but you might check the downloads in the thread from the Forum page of try searching the thread for taskmanager.
I'm not using the HTC Task Manager, so I don't have the issue.

You could use e-natives showcase taskmanager.
I'm using it. It let you close app by tapping the top right area.
It also show running app so you could kill an app as need.

a work around is this:
when making an out going call, you press the volume button, the zoomed taskbar icons will show, press on the volume icon and the ear piece adjustment will show, you can then adjust your volume from there :)

I have all my OEM in 0409 that OEM works like a charm for me... so if I DL the lang package of my native and of course the initflashfile... so... what do i need to change... All the common sys packages from 0409 to my native all the modules and files that has 0409??? or just the modules and files DLL? should i need to rename my OEM too? all the files?
I see that i need to change the boot.rgu too and set the lang folder in the sys as my native lang...
Any help will be great appreciated.

hay dude I'm finish for my Chinese 0404 ROM :)
but havent done of all my ext pack :p
make a ext pack like me
so you done neet to change boot.rgu every time to switch 0409 to your language
and your oem pack, check your oem pack in your 0409 pack
keep the old one is ok but you have to put dll(exe or cpl).(your language number).mui
from your dump oem to ext pake just like mine !
then put (your language number)from from your dump oem to your kitchen's oem folder
then change initflashfile...
cleaning that folder is the same like your oem folder
hope this helps you my friend;)

Check in HKCU\Software\HTC\Bootlauncher

Could somebody using build 23037 tell me if Microsoft fixed the selection circles that appear in many operating system dialogs such as for instance:
On the Volume dialog (the ones next to on/vibrate/off).
On the dialog that asks you if you want to install a new software on internal memory or storage card, etc.
As you can see from the enclosed screen shot, version 23034 (the one I am using) has circles that seem like 'work in progress' (unfinished) development work.
Such dialogs are not only cosmetically ugly, but when I tried to use Sashimi to install applications to my PPC it failed to install anything on the storage card, because the automated process seems to be unable to select the storage card.
Looking forward to hearing if the circles now look OK (at least from a visual perspective).

if it fails at installing is not due to the circles.
its because the creator dont allows the cab to be installed in this os, and if it dont has storage option is because th cab only can be instalable at device, open the cab with ce cab manager and change its settings.

its because the creator dont allows the cab to be installed in this os, and if it dont has storage option is because th cab only can be instalable at device, open the cab with ce cab manager and change its settings.
Perhaps I should have explained the situation in more detail. Here it goes.
With build 23034 of WM 6.5 I tried to install the SAME set of application that I normally install on my phone using Sashimi 8.0 I normally install about 60 applications into my phone, of which 45 or so are installed with Sashimi Auto process, 5 manually through Sashimi, and 10 are PC executables which I install from my PC.
Of those 45 that I install automatically I always install about 25 on external memory and the rest on internal memory. My selection of storage location (internal or external) worked 100% on the WM 6.5 23009 build. However when I tried to install the exact same software on WM 6.5 23034 ALL software was installed on internal memory even though I had 24 applications on the SC folder.
As Sashimi ran I noticed that the automated process could not select the external memory as the installation destination. With previous builds I could see it moving the selection from the default (internal) to the external memory.
I am not implying that the ugly circle is causing that, but the changes in that part of the operating system caused Sashimi 8.0 to no longer be able to select the secondary storage in the Auto process. I have reported the issue to the developer, but I have not yet received a response.

Not sure if this is the reason (I'm a novice when i comes to sashimi), but when setting up sashimi under advanced settings / alternate storage location you can set the path where your ASL cabs are installed. If you want to install onto the storage card and the auto SC folder doesn't do the trick, maybe try putting them in the ASL folder then setting the location to storage card. Worth a try.

Everybody within xda-developers must know Sashimi. It is one of the best tools around for people who replace their ROMs on a regular basis. I suggest you take a look at their solution here:
http://www.winmo-experts.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4
Problem is not caused by my ROM, its caused by the changes made by Microsoft on build 23034 of WM 6.5.
I can install to SD card from Sashimi using the manual method (as opposed to Auto). I can also install to SD card if I initiate the cab file from the PPC (again manual). The only problem is that Sashimi is no longer able to select the storage card as destination during the automatic (robot) installation. I think Microsoft may have changed the name of the field internally or something like that...so Sashimi 8.0, which was put together before this build of WM 6.5 doesn't know how to go about it.

Theorically the only change I did between 23017 build (which works fine) and 2303x builds is the MSXPIKernel (I let it as it was) and the SYS, no other tweaks, no packages more or less.
So boot.rgu is the same... I really don't know.

Is there a way to getthe phone to restart after RunCC has completed?
I added RST: Reset in the config.txt file
and changed my runcc.lua file to
chk = oem.checkfileexist("\\windows\\config_operator.txt")
if chk == 1 then
runcc.addrun("RunDefault", "run", "\\windows\\config_operator.txt")
end
chk = oem.checkfileexist("\\windows\\config_PT.txt")
if chk == 1 then

end

But it doesn't restart at the end. Using the old autorun way worked, but I want to use RunCC.
Can anyone help me?

B) use fingerkeyboard 2.1 or the stock mskb
C) amarullz patch to move manila up.

it looks like you forgot WinceNLS_WWE package, take it from 23037 xip.bin dump and either place the WinCENLS_WWE package in SYS, or you can put wince.nls somewhere in XIP.
First i ported a Sys 23037 XIP.bin
I found a file wince.nls.
I create a new folder in SYS\23037\SHARED\COMMON\ called "WinCENLS_WWE".
I paste a file this directory.
And build a rom.
It also stuck at Smart Mobility.

well it sounds like you are using ervius visual kitchen, which runs platformrebuilder. you actually do not need .ROM or .VM folders when using platformrebuilder.
If you use the oemxipkernel dumped from an original rom it is NOT a native kernel so... dont check the real aku 6.5 kernel
right... you need to either obtain a native kernel (what device are you using)? or you need to build for a 6.1 kernel - however building for a 6.1 kernel will require you flatten some modules.

okay, then you are going to need to flatten modules and NOT check "real WM6.5 nk.exe" as there is not one available for your device. you should read post #2 of this thread and you will understand why we are talking about your number of modules.

Hi,
I am trying to determine which files in the sources of a ROM reference certain resources (for example a png file). Short of opening every file and reading things manually (something that would take hours or days) in the sources of a kitchen is there an application that can scan the contents of files and determine which ones reference a certain object?
Somewhere on xda-developers somebody said something about KV or something like that, but I could never find that tool.

i absolutely think that is your problem, others have had identical symptoms and fixed with recmod earlier in this thread if i recall.
there are also scripts posted in this thread to flatten modules for you, i would post mine but i dont divide SYS into common, dpi, etc
I had such issues even when I tried to cook not using all SYS packages (so, using less modules...)
core stuff that you arent removing (example IE) probably grew. you can remove tons of packages and not amount to half of the VM space brows* packages are taking up. (btw, dont remove stuff from SYS until you fix your problems)

Yes sir! absolutely.
as DCD mentioned above there are some scripts that will make that process easy but i'll give you a list of folders within the SYS that you should recmod:
Note: never recmod any modules in folders that has LANG or DPI. correct me if i'm wrong. it is useless.
adobe folders
browsing folders
simtkit folder
WLM Folders
widgets folder

i have a script that does this for you but again I'm using old style kitchen where everything is on a SYS folder.

per post 2 its worse than useless, it would be counterproductive, in module form those can occupy slot 63
right on. There's some good info that I helped put together at everythingdiamond.com with watzone69 and some other peeps that may help with knowing what to recmod. Here's the link ->http://www.everythingdiamond.info/showthread.php?t=490

I'm using the last wm6.5 sys & xip downloaded from first post. My device is touch cruise lolite without a native kernel. I build the rom with visual kitchen and after flashing the device stuck at HTC mobility screen. After some searching I found that must to recmod some modules. I recmod Browsing, Browsingcore and Browsingie folders, and after that the device passes the HTC mobility screen, but now stays to long in wm welcome screen(5 minutes) before the align screen be available.
This doesn't happens with wm6.1 21054 rom.
here is memory map from build.log file:
Memory Map...
SLOT 0: 0x02000000 - 0x013c0000 (END: 0x00060000, 78 MODULES)
0x02000000 - 0x01fd0000 - ROM 0

0x803c5000 - 0x83400000 - 48 MB free
... done!
Is this related with modules? Any suggestions or help on how can I reduce this loading time?
Thanks in advance.

That's normal in wm6.5 as far as i can tell, i have a CDMA touch diamond and ever since i started building 6.5 roms the welcome screen always takes around 5 minutes setting up stuff in the background then it gives you the alignment screen, that's pretty normal.
but again your map tells that you have 78 modules on SLOT 0, SLOT 0 has to be kept like its last name "0". because we dont have 6.5 native kernels!!

Here's how to remove the extra scroll. For PhoneCanvas example.
Open phcanrc.dll with Restorator.
In the dialogues for your resolution add EXSTYLE = 0x02000000
(In the dialogues, ID starting with 8xxx. In dialogues MS, which begin with 22xxx no need to change)
before
8121 DIALOG 0, 0, 800, 480
STYLE 0x00008000

after
8121 DIALOG 0, 0, 800, 480

Interesting, I see what this is. This is the Form. All Dialog values in the 8K range are the skins for the dialer. The Style is the starting point & the ExStyle is the ending point. He's defining an ending point to close the form & threfore get rid of the ScrollBar. Also each line afetr the "{" has # at the end. These numbers (Example: 0, 8X, 119Y, 70W, 32H) are the position (X,Y) & Size of the Buttons. Changing these values will allow further skinning of the dialer. Will look into the HTC Task Manager & see if there's a similiar setting in it's DLL's for the "X" Button.

it just hasnt been my day man lol. now about the memory maps everyone has been posting....i have a question to da_g. is the module count the most important thing for slot 0, or is it the amount of space you have available in slot 0 that is most important? here is my mem map of my raphael rom, and as you can see i have no modules in slot 0 but...
Memory Map...
SLOT 0: 0x02000000 - 0x01bb0000 (END: 0x00060000, 0 MODULES)
0x02000000 - 0x01fc0000 - ROM 0

SLOT 1: 0x04000000 - 0x02020000 (END: 0x02020000, 295 MODULES)
SLOT 60: 0x7a000000 - 0x7a000000 (END: 0x78020000, 0 MODULES)
SLOT 61: 0x7c000000 - 0x7af90000 (END: 0x7a020000, 109 MODULES)
doing the hex math like you told me....
0x01bb0000 - 0x00060000 = 1b50000(28639232 decimal) or 27.3125 mb
is this too much space in slot 0 for my rom? i guess my question is, which is more important to go by, the module count in slot 0 or the amount of free space? or both? is it correct to just say if you have 0 modules in slot 0 then all is good? or does "size matter" like my wife says(thats the reason she married me lol).

well the number of modules really doesnt matter, its the space. you could have tons of tiny modules (well only to a point , because of block size) and see same effect as one huge module. at a glance i think you are doing the math correctly, the rest of your slot 0 space is taken up in xip.

ok then that kinda makes my point....i have been watching people post their mem maps in the thread with no modules in slot 0 and people telling them its "ok" without doing any math and just going by it saying no modules in slot 0. so is there some standard of how much space is too much? or is that dependent on the device?

Hey twopump i will show you an example about the Slot 0...
We have our rom space on the nand chip... plenty skin right there you know...
but if you have 0 modules in that slot the VM will have more RAM to run so... the rom will works fine...
Like if you have many other girls on mind naked at the same time in your mind at the time you was on your WOOOO HOOO... suddendly!!!! you stops and say oh shit I need a reset! im stuck cause i finish to fast...
Or like you has in the righ moment to end but.... OH oH a pic of your Ugly mother in law naked is in your mind!!!! shit you cant end... and focus on what you are doing... understand... slot 0 i think is the first slot that the Virtual memory tooks to work what a nice place if it is empty...
