When I saw my friend XPERIA, I felt about my Diamond BAD! Cuz HTC is doing BAD lately for it's software, TouchFlo and it's sub-apps like comm manager and phone canvas and contacts and sms messaging software ( the threaded one ) and etc...
In my opinion, HTC have some To-Do's:
--- Better TouchFlo Performance and Appearance
--- Better Phone Canvas and Phone Keypad
--- Better Contacts and Call History Solutions [ These installed officially are SLOW ]
--- Better SMS Messaging Client Program, Somthing with Better look and more touchy
--- More Settings for TouchFlo itself
these are things that come to my mind right now! What about you? What do you Think HTC must done with it's software it produces and installs on it's phones???

Eentually these are just Windows phones, so if you want to customize, you can! All the things you mentioned are all out there and most of them even in the XDA forum. I bet if you search well enough only on this forum you can find all the things to your likings...

I don't understand the point of this thread. TF3D is now more or less obsolete. Use TF3D v2.1. It will solve every problem you have listed above.
That said I am sure they had a roadmap and projected future for TF3D when they released it on the Diamond... And that's why the later versions such as 2.1 have many major improvements and 2.5 has even further improvements. 2.1 is available for VGA devices. 2.5 is still in limbo. They are still porting it.

Im just going to assume you have a stock ROM.
you should try one of the custom ROMs for your device posted on this forum, I can nearly promise you all of your "problems" will go away.
