Whats the cheapest way to get free gps?

I know the hermes doesnt use internal gps but an external gps. So I know the first thing I have to buy is a BT-359 bluetooth adapter. But that's all I know, can anyone suggest me a good program to use with the bluetooth adapter, and also where to download or buy maps(has to be cheap). Trying to spend as less as I can.

Get Google Maps
You Wont Get A Voice Telling You Where To Go For When Your Driving Etc But Its Free And Does Have Route Planning Capabilities :)
Only Downside Is That It Downloads All Maps Over The Air When You Use It Which Can Be Slow Unless You Have A Good Data Connection
