This must be rom-related... because I just formatted my SDcard (in 16 and 32 fat) and no matter what changes I make, I cant run hero android, it just keeps booting and rebooting.

If I wait almost 15-20 minutes, the tatoo version ends up working, I just have to enable the animations so that the screen doesnt freeze to black on every transition, but if I wait long enough, it starts working again.

The font is a little blurred, but I guess thats normal if the screen is being resized.

Then theres the screen size issue, the boot and calibration screens appear only on 3/4 quarters of the screen, everything works fine, but on the home the screen isnt centered and the wallpaper has black bars on top and bottom.

If this doesnt happen to anyone else, what rom are you using?

this also happened to me, twolf, believe that is the WM, and microphone problem also, the best rom I installed and used so far is 3.0 insomnia, radio = 1.7 ...

delete previous system and data file and than copy the new system file. file must be named "system.sqsh" so rename it.

not related to rom or radio, is you resolution that is wrong.

if you are running tattoo based build you must set your resolution to:

mddi.width=240 mddi.height=320

in the default.txt

Wow... I installed the same rom as radio as you and I was able to get the latest tatoo and pulse running.
Pulse is more responsive, but I prefer Tatoo's icons and look.

The speed on pulse is pretty good, but with the screen size tip, tatoo looks perfect now! :O I'm really impressed.

WHen you unzip that file, there is also system.img in there. BUt yeah, it did not work. If you are refering to the file system-tattoo-100309.sqsh, that is the one i used. No sound.

Its really HAS to be used with a Insomnia 3.10 rom and the radio 1.65.28.25, any other simply doesnt run properly.
It got to a point where my system kept hard-resetting itself, so I had to install the original HTC rom, hard-SPL and re-install the older radio again. :D

Pulse seems to be by far the most responsive rom, but I really like the hero/tatoo look... Its a pitty that it blacks out so much... :(

Im now having another issue... if I select the correct screen size (240x320), the boot script always haults on this part: "set volume of 2 to 5" and after some time the screens gets all black and never exits that.
But if I have the incorrect size (320x480) it boots fine, just gets a ugly blurred font.
It used to work when I had the messed-up system...its wierd. :/

1 - yes, this is a problem, but 2 quick presses in most of the buttons turn it back on.

2 - i never used market, so i can't answer this one. :(

look in the default.txt if you heave a lcd.density, if you heave, just remove it.

When you boot a tattoo rom, use 240x320, the HERO and others cupcake based you heave to use 320x480, or it wont boot.

I am using the Donut for Ion-image, have tried with all available kernels and rootfs-sets, but can not get a connection to the internet. I get the 3g icon in the top bar, and it's indicating some kind of transfer (both ways, though not as much as I did with Cupcake when it worked), but I can't get anything downloaded (nor login to my google-account).
I've used the APN settings in default.txt that worked for me before, and have added the APN in the android settings-menu as well, rebooted and everything, made sure that I had a connection in WinMo before starting haret and booting android, but it didn't make a difference.
I've also tried ppp.nostart=1 and ppp.nostart=0, to no effect whatsover.
I thought I'd come by and mention it, maybe someone can fix it. At least it's known now :)
For the rest I am loving Donut (true QVGA support!), but I use my google-account for mail, contacts and calendar (through ActiveSync in WinMo, native in Android), so I can't use it right now, thus I'm back to WinMo again :(

I have tried the Hero and Pulse packages from post #460 but cannot get a 3G connection on my Niki200.

had the same issue.. but my sdcard was formatted as fat32.
formatted it to fat(16) and copied the files in the root.
and it works great now!

With the pulse you don't have any issues regarding calling / texting? Are you using it now as your main OS?

No, its still too slow and unreliable to use as main OS for me, but I dont remenber having any issues with it.

Yes, but I would like to see them first finish this versions.. :/

About whats the most stable/fast version out there I would have to say Ion and xRom. Faster than Pulse but stability and battery drain is the same (from my experiences). But I don't like Ion from one simple reason-not good looking:)
xRom is a bit nicer with looks.

I went back to the latest clean rom by NemanjaLO with the default radio and xrom still works fine... :)

Btw, xrom works with 240x20 screen size, but the icons and text are too big to use and most widgets dont fit the screen, so i went back to a 320x480 resolution... Is there something in between I can use? That resolution leaves the text too blurry. :/

Also, the contacts sync from google fetches ALL my email contacts, not my phone synced contacts.... I can copy them in WM to the SIM and then on Android back from it, but I loose all the pictures, is there a better way to do this?

Kernel (rename to zImage) - fix for audio crash when using the camera. Kaiser/Polaris users try this if your having data problems in donut.

Actually, I can send sms, read sms, make calls and receive calls, but when I send an sms, it appears to be "not successfully sended", but it is !
Any solution ? I tried the last zimage-23-10-09, I use the xROM-WORKING package...

im having a hard time using this, whenever i try to execute the OS, it would be stuck on the linux logo and says error connection

im using HTC official 6.1
ROM 2.16.831.3
Radio 1.65.29.22

Try to use pm.sleep_mode=0 instead of pm.sleep_mode=1...
But te battery goes to be discharged very quickly...

Make sure all the files are in the ROOT of the SD card and not some folder...

Try to format your SD

I've formatted it into fat32(for Haret) and ext3(for Linux) but unfortunatelly I crashed it! Not Windows nor Linux can reformat it (fat32 for Windows is RAW, and ext3 is locked for re-writing)

I'm now writing from my luvly Ubuntu(7.04 is the best!).
I've found the answer for "no partition found on SD Card".
1.You'll need to have SD Card (i've got 128mb but it's not enough space ;D) i think 256MB or more.
2.Format it to 2 partitions(I've been using GParted from GNOME):
-1st Partition: Primary, +/- 110 MB (more if you use resouces), fat32
-2nd Partition: Primary, rest of space, ext2 or ext3
3.Unpack the package which is on the first page of this thread to fat32 partition.
4.Run using haret!

P.S. I haven't tested it (cuz I have nly 128MB card) but it seems to be working.

Hi I have a HTC Touch dual (HTC neon400, P5310) when I try to boot on haret the software try to start but at the end of the loading the screen freeze. Ive tried several time and it make always the same thing. Is that because my PDA is not compatible.

Hii all, i've just tried this android on my niki and owesome, it works, but there is small problem here, anyone can help me?
- when i boot, they always pop error: process system is not responding
- i can't call to ussd number i.e. *888# the error said something like MMI
- sometimes the mms modul error come as pop up
- when i send SMS it's delivered, but notification said there is some problem
- when i use the keys, touch screen doesn't work amymore
