Hi Folks - This is as off-topic as they come while still remaining geeky :D

http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Arianet+7%22+Minibook+V2+with+Windows+CE+?productI d=36193

Since getting my Himalaya and Hermes' PDAs I've obviously gotten the flashing bug...

Anybody have any idea what the generic name of these minibooks are, and if there's any info on flashing them upto CE6.0, installing all the apps we know and love on our PDAs etc (pocketOffice, tsc, etc) - or even replacing CE altogether with linux

At that price I'm pondering buying one just to mess about with it, but only if I can mess with it in a geeky way!

Cheers in advance

most normal windows mobile apps should work

not sure about ce6 and working windows mobile apps
as no windows mobile out today use ce6

about linux then problem is always drivers when it comes to linux
few hardware manufactures are too helpful with open-source drivers
and linux programs have to reverse eng the drivers which takes a lot! of time

Thanks Rudegar

I know the CE/WM APIs are subtly different, but in general the CE API is actually more feature rich than the WM one

Now all I need is to find one of those button USB BlueTooth dongles that comes with a CE driver, and this could be a seriously fun toy to add to my collection!

wow, not sure about that minibook, why not a netbook? they come with 1/2gb RAM, windows xp or linux, 160gb HDD, and that size... also, they are not spensive

Hahah because at that price, it's a toy :D

I know I can get a nb for < £300 but since I already have a PDA and a laptop, the minibook would literally be a gadgety toy I could mess about with

If only it was touch screen...
