after many tries and stuff with all the androids available, I finally was able to install kaiser-hero-100909 on my polaris (POLA100) without any popup errors..

it is slower than ION but I wanted the look of hero :D anyways... I wanted to know how do I start the wifi with the system image from kaiser-hero-100909.

because android without internet access is like fish out of the water!!!!

Just like any other one. Extract basefiles, copy kernel (zImage), put one of the system images and boot.

You have to name them system.sqsh or .img or .ext2. Basefiles + zImage + System.

2. the smaller the partition size, the faster your Kaiser-Hero.

I am using 512mb. it's now very fast even with TouchFLO.

i have 2 partitions on my 8gig sd card, android are at the first one. my music(mp3) and other datas are at the second...
but the music player can't find any mp3's....
astro file manager will only find the android partition, i can't see my audio files..

any solution for this..?

You could either mount the second partition with losetup or you could just not use more than one partition. If you're feeling adventurous look at /init to see how to mount. You can add the modified version for your partition in the user conf file.

There's no guide to optimizing Hero but it's been explained a few times. I have compcache disk size set to 100MB, I kill off MMS and MediaUploader services which I don't use, run Task Killer when I first boot and that's about it. It runs about as fast as xROM and a little less than vanilla Cupcake builds.

A significant step backwards for me. Hero is much slower than the month old build I was using, I don't seem to be able to add any HTC widgets to the desktop at ALL, and my data connection (which was working fine before), no longer works.

Oh, and I thought the camera was working in this build? Just gives me a force close...

The only button that does anything is the end call button, hold it and it'll bring up shutdown options.

My question is whether this build will not work with my phone or I am doing something wrong.

Hmm, everyone keeps saying "there is a tutorial somewhere" for partitioning the SD card and installing to an Ext2 partition, but I've spent at least 45 minutes searching and I can't find "it" if it exists :P

There are some tutorials for partitioning cards for use on actual Android devices like the G1 but they don't really have anything to do with booting from haret... Besides, the actual partitioning is the easy part, the hard part is what files go where and what has to be reconfigured to get Android running off the Ext2 partition and using the swap partition.

Could someone who has done this just answer a couple of simple questions?

1. What partition types / sizes / order do you use? (e.g. 500MB Ext2, 32MB Swap, the rest FAT32? Or does the FAT32 partition have to come first?)

2. Which files from the bundle need to be reconfigured to have stuff load from the Ext2 partition?

3. Does part of this process involve mounting the partition(s) in Android and then copying the files across?

If someone could write a quick tut or actually link to an existing one that would be great as I think this is one of the next major steps that most people are wanting to take but don't know how to - yet :)

You have to sign up with goggle (gmail).You have to add all your contacts on it then you can sign into gmail on your phone and it will sync your contacts, calandar, and mail.

How long have you let it sit? It takes awhile (sometimes up to 15 min) on first boot. Just let it sit for awhile and come back and see if it's loaded up.

On boot I get an error that it cant find data.img on the storage card, it's there though... I tried deleting it from winmo so it recreates it on boot but I still have the same error on boot.
Anyone else had that? Should I just wait 20 minutes? I am thinking that waiting wont really help as I am able to type stuff in to the console and run things like uname and uptime etc.

I have just tried it again after deleting everything and copying all the files back to the root. same thing, goes into the OS where i can unlock it, give me time, signal and battery. I am also able to increase/decrease volume using the soft bottons but no GUI. I left this one running over an hour.

Dont know if it makes any difference but i'm running radio 1.71.09.01.

hope someone can help as i'd really like to try this.

the issue with the blank gui
i resolved by pressing and holding the windows
key for awhile, like i would in other builds . it will bring up the menu to add to the screen.

Unfortunatly I doesn't have any "external" sound like music, ringtones, keybord etc... the Wifi don't work very well, GPS freeze my phone, and I can't find my place on google maps.

Is there someone who have the same problem ? I have got an HTC v1695 (kaiser or Tytn II ) from french provider SFR.

netsentry this one monitor every network connection so finally i can see how many MB's :D traffic i have on my data connection.

I have a Kaiser 160 with win mo 6.1 WWE, it's unlocked as well.

when i try to boot Hero, i get loads of text while linux boots (too small to read most of it). the screen goes black and stays blank - i've left it for 30 mins to see if anything happend, but nothing!

I'm dying to get this working and any advice would be really great.

you might need a premade data.img. It's been discussed before though.

i said that my operator don't allow disable pin at all, not im winmo or in any other mobile device,so my question is how to run android with the pin,is there a script or .cab to use. as i can read on forums the problem is the virtual keyboard or something like that!

Firstly, did your read the post dates on this thread? lol, it's a little old.

Running android using Haret.exe will not replace WM with Android, it allows you to run android by temporarily erasing WM from RAM, and running Android from SD card, so when you reboot it will of course run WM again, you would need to run Haret.exe again to get back to Android.

To completely replace WM with android will require flashing the phone with a special rom, which wipes WM and allows you to install Android.

If you wish to erase WM completely, you must have HardSPL installed, a radio version of 1.65 or higher, be able to flash a custom rom from SD, and know how to get into bootloader mode.
