I added NOTHING to sys.
Notice lack of BT subsys - i am on m$ btstack(in oem), so i do not need these(you probably want add - bth_ad2p, bth_hid, bluetooth).

office 2010(not that from pack), netcf 3.7(not that from pack), dummy SqlCeMobile, dummy SQM_Mini, dummy FWUPDATE added to oem.
of course proper oem(with additional soft + tweaks), and nothing more.


upd: ahh, check, if you have langdb in oem or sys, and wincenls, of course.

I've compared the MSXIPKernel folder from 21057 to my current 21056 folder. There where no differences though.

If you don't want newest build, i recommend 21042 instead :)

dude, make some roms and make your opinion.
It's ridiculous to elaborate speed of builds just like that.

i'd say, that optimal are 21057 and 21916, 6.5.x is just line for newbs(imho).
info for 6.1 users, btw:
21916 seem to be best succesor of 6.1, in terms of old soft compatibility / speed.
after cutting out htc bulls$^& and ridiculous ms start menu(qm, or sth like that), while using old tsk system(=transparencyenable=0) it is almost as fast as 21057 + there's gain on flash(quite noticeable, i'd say) and buffering.
Mem situation is worse(even after cuts), but still, acceptable.
Also, memleak(after stripping it from useless pseudo "core" addons of coz) is low.

Two questions....

I see that these packages do not include .VM & .ROM. Normally, these are included with the SYS on my device (GW825). Is that a problem?

Also, my device (GW825) was never released with WM 6.1, so the nk.exe is 6.5 native. Will that be a problem?

For Question 1, I am using PlatformRebuilder, so I think I can get by without .VM & .ROM.

New question - my wince.nls is from my original WM 6.5 ROM, do I need a WM 6.1 version?

That's something I've wondered: can you cook a 6.1 rom with a 6.5 nk.exe and load it up with modules allocated to slots 60 and 61? That might be kind of cool if it works.

I can tell PlatformRebuilder to build as if it was a WM 6.1 ROM (set OLDKERNEL=1) so that it doesn't allocate modules to 61/60, but that didn't work (phone wouldn't boot).
