Bare WM 6.5 23009 Cooked ROM with unnecessary items removed.
UPDATED on Sept. 4, 6:20 pm US Central Time
Starting with with September 10, 2009 I have decided to consolidate Bare WM 6.5 builds into only one (1) thread. I suggest you subscribe to the following thread to be kept abreast of future updates:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4469872&postcount=1
The cooked ROM and files that I am sharing here are based on the osKitchen (by OndraSter) which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540704
The objective of this ROM is was to get rid of as much unnecessary items in the Windows Mobile 6.5 source files in order to make as much RAM available on my Kaiser as possible after the installation of WM 6.5. However I didn't want to 'cripple' features that I needed/wanted to have installed.
The result is a very stable WM 6.5 ROM that uses about 33 MB of RAM while the Kaiser is idle (and before you install your own applications). That means that you will have close to 70MB of free RAM with this cooked ROM. The size of the cooked ROM flash image (the NBH file) is: 54.2 MB
What I may consider 'unnecessary files' may not be considered the same by others. Therefore I am listing the WM 6.5 items that I removed so that you can determine if this cooked ROM fits your needs. I am also enclosing a folder titled "Files removed from sources.rar" which will show you EXACTLY what was removed. If you miss one of the removed items, simply move it back (to the same directory) and cook a ROM.
** General overview of what was removed:
- All of the non-essential OEM and EXT applications which normally ship with "Os Kitchen". I left only the OEM and EXT items which I found to be necessary for the normal operation of the ROM on the Kaiser. If through your own testing you find that one or more are unnecessary please let me know (as I would want to get rid of it as well!)
- Ringtones and other sound files which are not necessary for the normal operation of the ROM (if you miss one or more of those files you can easily put them in an SD card and access them from there)
- All files (CPR, Images, etc.) that relate to a resolution that is not supported by the Kaiser.
- The 'Calculator' application because there is plenty of great calculators for WM PPC out there, and I don't like to have software duplication.
- All "Windows Live" related stuff, because I don't use it.
- All 'games' that come with WM 6.5 because I don't use them, and there is much better games in the marketplace.
- IPSEC related files because I don't use that type of 'virtual tunnel'.
- IRDA because the Kaiser doesn't have infrared functions.
- LiveSearch because I prefer Google.
- .Net 2.0 framework, because I install another version that contains 2.0 & 3.5
- Unnecessary Mobile Office templates
- Remote Desktop (because I don't use that software. I prefer RDM+, which I install separately...not in the ROM)
- TaskManager (because I prefer to install Advanced Task Manager...separately, not in the ROM)
- Skybox (because I don't need to have a software store on my Kaiser)
- All Themes except for 'Classic Blue' (because I prefer to install my own themes...separately, not in the ROM)
- VOIP (because no application comes with WM 6.5 for VOIP, and therefore the files just wastes space)
- Welcome Center (Because I am experienced enough with WM 6.5 that I don't need somebody to guide me)
- All Windows Mobile Widgets (because I prefer to install my own ....separately not in the ROM).
*****
In addition to the file removals that I describe above, I made a few changes.
The following changes apply to BOTH "Vanilla" and "Chocolate" flavors of the cooked ROM:
- I changed the boot screen back to the original HTC screen that says "smart mobility"
- I changed the animation screen back to the original HTC screen that has an animated HTC logo
- I changed the boot up sound to one that uses aprox 100K
- I changed the Windows Startup screen to that of Windows Mobile 7
- I added software to fix the animation startup sound (which didn't work in the original build)
- I added software to fix the animation boot up screen (which was mixed with some other stuff that I removed)
- I added a registry entry that changes the default skin on Windows Media Player to Diamond Portrait.
- I added code to install 'Random Access' in the Contacts Screen. (allows quick access to people by clicking letter on the right margin)
- I added code to re-install the Hexagon background in the start menu, which recent version of WM 6.5 have removed.
- I added a registry entry to remove the 'tap time' that is required when selecting items in WM 6.5 folders.
Screen shots of the "Vanilla" Flavor are here:
http://clip2net.com/clip/m22632/1250218975-basic-80kb.jpg
The following changes apply ONLY to the "Chocolate" flavor of the ROM:
- I added an application called 'Ariel Battery' which starts up automatically upon bootup and sits on top of the Start button showing battery in graphical and percentage mode)
- I added Advanced Task Manager
- I added a 6 item Comm Manager to replace the 3 item one that comes standard with WM 6.5
Screen shots of the "Chocolate" flavor are here:
http://clip2net.com/clip/m22632/1250218911-complete-100kb.jpg
NOTE: For those who do not like the Chocolate or Vanilla flavors, I am making available the source files so that you can make any necessary changes to suit your taste. All my changes are in the EXT folder and are clearly labeled with "-PW" after the folder name. So you can choose to keep them or remove them based on your personal needs.
And here is an Spb Benchmark test on a fresh copy of this ROM. I don't know if this type of tests are trustworthy, and I have no benchmark to compare it with. All I can say is that the OS feels very fast and responsive. Don't base yourself on the benchmark. Try it and see if it works for you. It does for me.

Here are the files:
a)You can download the "Vanilla" flavored cooked ROM (which is ready to be flashed directly on your device) from here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/125327545/a0cd769e/10017_-_RUU_Signed.html
b) You can download the "Chocolate" flavored cooked ROM (which is ready to be flashed directly to your device) from here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/125318988/6410d6cd/10018_-_RUU_Signed.html
c) You can download the OEM, SYS and EXT folders (which have been purged of unnecessary items), and replace the respective folders that are in the "sources" directory of osKitchen from here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/125334762/20ced38f/Sources.html
d) You can download the "Vanilla Flavour" osKitchen configuration file (which you MUST use in combination with the OEM, SYS, EXT folders shown in item "c" to cook your ROM in osKitchen) here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/125313279/4fdb9274/v10017.html
e) You can download the "Chocolate Flavour" osKitchen configuration file (which you MUST use in combination with the OEM, SYS, EXT folders shown in item "c" to cook your ROM in osKitchen) here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/125313240/1d2a7913/v10018.html
f) You can download the 'removed' OEM, SYS, and EXT folders (which you can use to verify what I removed....or to move back something that I removed but that you want) here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/125338650/aef934ef/Files_removed_from_sources.html
g) "List Start Menu" is a great replacement for the 'Honey Comb" start menu which is included with these ROMs. I made adjustments to the application, and I am using it personally EVERY day. I am never going back to the 'Honey Comb' start menu. To see if it fits your needs, see screen shots and download the installation cab go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4351597&postcount=47
KNOWN ISSUES:
1) Missing Notes application prevents note taking during phone conversation. This issue was reported in post #2 - SOLVED
2) The "Wireless LAN" menu choice (available when selecting "settings" inside of Comm Manager) doesn't work. This issue was reported in post #26 - SOLVED
3) Missing MMS Options. Standard Builds of WM 6.5 DO NOT come with MMS. To get MMS read other threads such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=500869. This issue was reported in post #41 & 47 - SOLVED
4) Can't change the sound made when opening / closing keyboard. Look for SlidingSound.exe in the Windows directory. I will incorporate a shortcut to this application in a future release. - PENDING
TIPS:
- After the ROM loads, go to phone settings (Start-Settings-Personal-Phone) and in the "Phone" tab select the Ring Type that you want to use. You can put Ringtones in any folder of your Kaiser and they will appear in the "Ring Type" pull down menu. I put them on external storage (SD Card) under a directory called "My Ringtones". This issue was reported in post #33 - SOLVED
Enjoy!
IMPORTANT: The only thing that I ask in return for my contribution is that if you find more space savings you share them with me. I left several items in the OEM and EXT folders because I know for a fact that some of those items ARE needed for the correct functioning of critical features such as movie file playback. However some of those items may not be necessary. If you find out that they are not necessary, or you find other files in the SYS folder that could be removed without affecting performance, please let me know by posting a message on this thread.

Welcome here bro.
How is it when you removed Notes and you click while incall on Notes? Because in default it opens Notes with some predefined layout and caller name.

Thanks for the heads up. I re-installed notes, and the files shown in post #1 reflect the fix. So this is no longer an open issue.

This could be interesting. I too hate all the extra stuff in the phone that I never use. I'm going to try it. My biggest complaint about WM is the threaded SMS -- it seems over time it takes longer and longer to load messages. I think im going to try your rom.

This is exactly what I want!! I was going to try to develop a very similar ROM but you've done all the work for me! I have so much junk on my phone that I don't use, so this will be perfect. I'll flash it tomorrow, then load of spb mobile shell, pocketplay, iGO, a few others and I should have a nice clean setup for once!
btw, great post. easy to understand and all the files are very helpful.

I used Spb Mobile Shell 3.01 when I was using WM 6.1, but after switching to WM 6.5 I realized that if I put a little bit of work on the WM 6.5 Today Screen (Titanium) I could completely get rid of spb Shell, saving some RAM in the process and some confusion as well.
I encourage you to give the new Today screen a shot. I use the following plugins on my WM 6.5 today screen:
Clauncher - You can get 3 Launchers (for up to 9 applications) from the first post, and an additional 3 Launchers (which I created) on post 163 (page 17)

Comm Manager

Titanium Notifications - The original one had some bugs. I fixed it. Get it from post #146.

Just curious does this rom have decent battery life? Witschey
Your question is not easy to answer because it depends on how you use your device. The battery will drain quickly if:
- You keep the light on all the time.
- You are constantly connected to MS Exchange.
- You do a lot of web browser use or play a lot of music/video files.
- You keep the 3G connection on all the time (I switch to GSM/EDGE most of the time and only use 3G when I really need it)
- You keep both GSM/EDGE or 3G on while also having WiFi on.
So I am afraid I can't answer your question. For me battery life is not an issue as I put the phone in the charger every time I don't use it. I even have a charger in the car for while I am traveling.

Using chocolate flavor (6 buttons CommManager), the standard way to access Wireless LAN property page (from Comm Manager/Settings/Wireless LAN) is not working. Without this page you cannot set, for example, the power transmission for the wireless card.

MSD...is not really all that buggy....BT and Camera does not work but after configuring it propoerly it will grow on you. If there was a way I would post some screen shots in the other thread but, I sync with google for contacts and calendar, have downloaded some stuff from Market, YouTube is faster than WM (picture quality not so hot), weather works I mean there is enough going there to make me want a Hero as my next phone :) I am going to try it on this ROM and will probably cry if my setup breaks :(

What do you mean by it handles task operations bad. Could you explain?
Only the chocolate flavor has the advanced task manager. The vanilla flavor does not. Even though I tried to remove the build in task manager completely I have noticed that if you go into the windows directory on your PPC after installing either the vanilla or chocolate flavors, you will still find the original task manager (perhaps only part of it; not sure). In the worst of cases you can cook your own ROM with the files I made available and move the original task manager back. The files I removed are available for download and you can easily move them back. I kept the same directory structure so you know where they go.

if want to get rid of chome, is it possible ?
which are these files that i need to remove ?
If by chome you mean the Today Screen (also called Titanium), I am afraid that I have never tried to remove it (because I like it!)
However looking at the SYS folder you could try to remove:
\Sources\SYS\23009\CHOME
\Sources\SYS\23009\CHOME\CHome_DPI_96
\Sources\SYS\23009\CHOME\CHome_Lang_0409
and maybe also
\Sources\SYS\23009\Bronze_DPI_96
\Sources\SYS\23009\BronzeNonEA
be particularly careful about Bronze_DPI_96 because it contains a file called bronzeres.dll which I think is used elsewhere (outside of the Today Screen)
The 'Bronze' directory that OndraSter mentioned is already gone from this build. So YES you would have had to replace it if you were using some other source files, but with my source files that one is long gone.
Now here goes my disclaimer. Beware that I have NEVER removed the Today Screen myself, so I can't assure you that it will work. If it works, you are likely to end up with two shortcuts on the start menu that point to nowhere. A Today shortcut on the startmenu that you can delete by going to "Windows\Start Menu" on the PPC (using any File Explorer), and one inside of settings that I don't think you will be able to delete, because the shortcuts inside of the settings menu are created in a different way which I don't quite understand.
Good luck.

I have confirmed that the Wireless LAN menu choice doesn't seem to do anything. It must be related to a missing registry entry. I have never used WLAN manager that you are talking about, so I am not really sure what it looks like.
Do you know if the WLAN manager has its own executable file? If so, do you know the name. I want to check and see if it is in the Windows Directory of the PPC, and if it is I can look in the registry to see if the issue can be fixed.
The 6 button comm manager that I included was developed by somebody else, so this is that developer's bug; but if I have the name of the executable I can try to fix it myself.
This page seems to be in WLANSettings.exe.

OK, I found the problem, and it is easy to fix (if you burn your own ROM using my files)
Basically I didn't install an external application called "WLANSettings_2_4_3_3"
I didn't know its purpose or where it was used, so that is why I removed it.
But if you want it get it back you can easily do so. Just download option "f" from post #1 on this thread, and inside it you will find under EXT\APPS the following it. The path is:
\Files removed from sources\EXT\Apps\WLANSettings_2_4_3_3
I will fix this issue in a future update, but I don't plan on doing that update right away.
I'll do it. Thanks again.

I can't seem to get MMS to work?
I installed ArcSoft.MMS.v5.0.71.33
When I go to send a message it seems like its trying to send it via email as it only shows my contacts that have email + phone number on it.
Second issue is if you go to settings > personal > phone you cannot save any settings until you copy over 1 voice file. For some reason if the combobox is empty (no voice file) you cannot exit out of this page. To fix copy any file to your ring tones directory.
I do like the rom so far. Very fast, especially on my txt messages which I send so many of.

Glad to hear that you solved the MMS issue. My ROM hasn't removed any files related to emailing, so every thing should work OK. Sometimes all it needs is a soft reboot.
Second issue is if you go to settings > personal > phone you cannot save any settings until you copy over 1 voice file. For some reason if the combobox is empty (no voice file) you cannot exit out of this page. To fix copy any file to your ring tones directory.
From the context of your paragraph I guess that with 'voice file' you are actually referring to a sound file.
In this ROM I purposely got rid of as many sounds files as possible, to allow people to install their own sound files and save the space that the unused sound files take. The nice thing about this is that you can use any sound file you like and it won't use RAM space. For example I have about 100 sound files (most of them ring tones) in a directory which I call "My Ringtones" on the external memory card.
It is true that when you first boot the ROM you should go to phone settings and choose the ring tone you want to use for the ringing of the phone. I will incorporate that learning as a tip on post #1. Thanks for reminding me.

Thanks a lot.
As you provably know HTC (the manufacturer of the Kaiser / Tilt) didn't release the proper drivers for this device. So perhaps that explains the lag you are talking about.
The video drivers that are incorporated into this ROM are:
1) HTC-TI-Kaiser-Drivers with demo removed
2) NeoS2007 OpenVG Drivers
I am not familiar with the D3D drivers that you are talking about, but I did a quick search on xda-developers and I found a post stating that those drivers DO NOT work with WM 6.5 ROMs that incorporate the 101 MB memory hack. The "vanilla" and "chocolate" ROMs both have the 101 MB of RAM; therefore they are incompatible with the D3D drivers.
Here is the post that talks about that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4337766&postcount=3
The posts suggest that if one cooks a ROM without the 101MB hack, then the drivers may work; but if you follow the thread you will see that people have tried with all RAM configurations and haven't gotten it to work with WM 6.5.
If you like my ROM, you can try cooking versions with different RAM configurations and seeing if you can get the D3D drivers to work for you. You can download burn your own ROM with the source files and configuration files (which I make available in post #1). If you use OndraSter's Kitchen (osKitchen) you will be able to easily select among three RAM configurations from a pull down menu. Good luck. If you get it to work let us know!

Thanks for prompt reply, I would love to see if I can get these sorta things working, but unfortunately, the business I'm in, doesn't allow me any time, let alone family time. But in all honesty your rom is the fastest and I'm probably going to stick with it for a while unless you bring out a newer version :) or someone else brings out a naked fast (and more improved rom).
Thanks for your hard work.

This thread has been for helpful for me, especially the first post with all the downloads. thx!
I have a question about battery performance. Before I was using TCP v9 ROM and got considerably better battery performance than I do now with my self cooked bare ROM.
In the ROM I have cooked in
SPB mobile shell 3
Vito SMS-Chat
GPS Test
Pocket Player
and a few others like htc calc...
i also removed the aerial battery status.
does cooking these programs into the ROM affect battery as opposed to just installing them with a cab? Or are there some battery related files that have been removed that could affect performance?

I am not familiar with all the programs you mention, but I know that some of them like SPB Mobile Shell would definitely cause more memory usage and hence more battery usage, as it is always on.
The different memory usage may be caused by different usage on your part. The thing that affects usage the most is the screen. Make sure you setup a timeout of 1 min or so; and setup the device to turn off after say 3 minutes. That will help a lot. Turn off doesn't really turn it off; it just turns off the screen totally; but phone still works and the like.
The other things that cause a lot of battery usage is using more than 1 communication method (Wi-Fi, Edge, etc.) at once. If you have WiFi on but your device doesn't connect to Wi-Fi (because you are out of range or something) that eats a lot of battery.
No, I haven't taken out any battery features, but the settings of those (whether WiFi is in battery savings more or performance mode, screen timeout, etc.) may have changed since you now have them at Windows Mobile default and the other ROM may have had them at some other setting.
Hope this helps.

thanks, i opened communication manager and saw 3g auto was on, after switching that off i'm back to my expected battery power.
one more questions... i added any files dealing with wifi (or that had wifi in the name) which had been removed, but i still can't seem to find a "wifi settings" or anywhere to get a list of wireless networks. All I get when I turn on wifi is a baloon the shows a couple networks.

Adding those files was completely unnecessary if all you want to see is a list of networks and other WiFi settings. Assuming that you have the VERY latest ROM installed (I have made updates, so make sure you have the latest), then you can get WiFi settings in two ways:
1) Comm Manager - Settings - Wireless Lan
2) Start - Settings - Connections - WiFi

"List Start Menu" Alternative to Honey Comb Start Menu
In my quest to make this ROM even easier and quicker to use, I have been searching for a way to quickly launch programs. I first stumbled across CLauncher, a Titanium (Today) screen plug-in and I was so excited that I developed another 3 plug-ins and made them available through this post in the Clauncher thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4282868&postcount=163
and I even made icons available for the CLauncher here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4288989&postcount=164
However, a few days ago I stumbled upon a solution called "List Start Menu" which is basically a replacement the 'honey comb' start menu of WM 6.5
The HoneyComb start menu is pretty, but it is not very quick operate. Somehow our brains are not equiped to quickly look and process data in a 'honey comb' pattern. It is much quicken to process linear patterns; and it is also easier to navigate through single lists with a cursor or joystick.
Compared to the CLauncher solution, the "List Start Menu" saves RAM, doesn't duplicate function with the Start Menu, doesn't require any setting beyond the installation of a CAB file, doesn't require extraction or creation of icons, updating of entries, etc.
So I spent a full day fixing the 'List Start Menu' in order for it to support landscape mode (previously only portrait mode was supported), and I hereby invite you to check it out. Perhaps it is also a better solution to you.
You can read the whole post and download the installation cab file here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4351597&postcount=47
For me this is such a great improvement over the honey comb, that I am never going back!

Bootup screen is now in More Tweaks menu since last release and animation you must add package with HTCAnimation and then you can edit or change the .gif file in it.

If you are creating a new ROM based on the 'source' files that I post on page 1, then in order to change the bootup animation and the Windows boot up screen you will have to go to the following directory and change the files there INSTEAD of changing them through the "More Tweaks" menu of osKitchen (that feature was NOT available in oSKitchen back in the days when I put together this ROM)
D:\osKitchen\Sources\EXT\Settings\Startup Animation - PW
The files you can change from there are:
animated.gif (this is the animation that shows up after the boot up screen. You can replace it with any animated gif file as long as you keep the same name AND it is of the right size. The one that I have included by default is the HTC logo animation)
Welcomehead.96.png (this is the Windows boot up screen. You can replace it with any png file as you keep the same name and it is of the right size. The one that I have included by default is the Windows 7 screen)
Changing the bootup screen CAN NOT be done from the kitchen itself. That requires flashing of a special nbh file. The good news is that the flashing of such a file can happen at ANY time (be it before you install a rom, or afterwards). Its just like a radio ROM, its installation is independent from the ROM installed, and you won't have to reinstall a new ROM or RADIO after you flash a new splash screen. However the process of how to do is beyond the scope of this forum, so I suggest you use the search function to fine a thread that talks about that.
Good luck.

Since v1.0.8 it can :) http://clip2net.com/clip/m12051/1250194534-clip-179kb.png
Yes, I know it can. I have version 1.0.8
However when I put together the Bare WM 6.5.23009 Cooked ROM's and the source files with unnecessary items removed it didn't.
Therefore the dll files which are necessary for the animation are all bundled up TOGETHER with the animated.gif and Welcomehead.96.png files inside these folder:
D:\osKitchen\Sources\EXT\Settings\Startup Animation - PW
If people that are trying to burn a new ROM download the source files I made available to them, and use your Tweak Menu to add their own files, but do not select "Startup Animation - PW" as an EXT option, then the animation will NOT work because it is missing the dll files.
Now if they DO select "Startup Animation - PW" when burning their ROM, but they also specify animated.gif and Welcomehead.96.png files through your Tweak Menu, then the outcome will be unpredictable, because who knows if your kitchen will give preference to the animated.gif and Welcomehead.96.png selected through the Tweak Menu or the ones inside the Startup Animation - PW EXT folder. I guess the outcome will depend on whether your kitchen burns the EXT folder first or the ones selected through the Tweak menu. Only you (or somebody who has tried to create that conflict) can answer the question.
In a future build of this ROM I will get rid of the conflict by moving my chosen animated.gif and Welcomehead.96.png to the original directories, but for the time being the conflict exists.
OndraSter
18th August 2009, 09:42 PM
It can only splash screen (splash.nb) and welcomehead.96.png, NOT animation! So it won't be unpredictable, Animation you must do on your own package.

WOW. I didn't know you figured out a way to incorporate the splash screen nb file into the kitchen. That's fantastic! Congrats.
Well in that case the only thing I need to move back to its original directory (in a future build) is the welcomehead.96.png..and that is the only one that could potentially cause a conflict since th order of installation will determine which is the one that is installed last...and hence the one that is visible when the ROM boots up for the first time.

Good thinking OndraSter. My EXT package is called "Startup Animation - PW", so it comes before your package...hence based on your explanation the windows startup screen selected through the Tweaks menu will be the one displayed. So there doesn't seem to be an issue.

do you think you could include a version with the HTC task manager? as well as the keyboard sliding sound. i installed sounds and it auto set one for keyboard and i cant find the sound file
The keyboard sliding sound IS already part of the ROM. I used the 'Piano' type. If you want a different one you should go to the Windows directory of your PPC and search for the following file:
SlidingSound.exe
Execute that file, and after that you will be given other choices for the Sliding Sound.
In a future release of the ROM I will incorporate a shortcut to 'SlidingSound.exe' in the "Systems Tools" folder of the Start Menu. For the time being you need to access it as I describe above or create the shortcut on your own.
As to the Task Manager that item was left out on purpose because I consider other task managers to be better, and I don't like to have duplicate applications on my ROM's.
If you want the task manager in your ROM you need to cook a ROM by yourself. I only cook new ROMs when I in inadvertently crippled a feature, or forgot a shortcut (like in the Sliding Sound issue you reported), but when I purposely left an item out, you need to cook the ROM by yourself.
All you need to do is move the missing item from the 'Files removed from Sources' folder that I made available on post #1 to the SAME directory where you find it, but on the sources directory...and burn as usual.
Here is the place where you will find the task manager related files:
\Files removed from sources\EXT\Apps\TaskManager_2_1_37385_2
\Files removed from sources\SYS\23009\Shell\taskmgr.exe
Good Luck.

That is strange because the video playback files ARE there, so you should have no problem watching the video. I played a few videos and the first time i got a black screen for a short while, and then the video started. After that it worked well. Maybe the operating system takes a little while to find files, create registry entries and the like; not sure.

Glad you like it. The SIM Manager is not part of the operating system, it is an external application that is added by the manufacturer or the user.
If you download the removed files from post #1 you will find a folder called:
Dopod_SIM_Manager_1436365_by_NiTroGen
In there is the SIM Manager. You can try to put together a cab file from that package and install it, or you can burn your own ROM with that folder.
OR you can do a search on xda-developers to see if somebody has a cab file ready which you can apply yourself.
I personally don't use the SIM card storage for anything. I keep all my contacts on the phone's memory and since I use Microsoft Exchange, I can simply synchronize with other phones when I need to.

More than lack of stability I think that some of the issues we are facing with 23034 are related to changes that Microsoft made under the 'hood' of the operating system and which are conflicting with some of the software that was made prior to those changes, which causes problems to surface.

The only way to know if it is related to my particular ROM or whether it is an incompatibility between your version of the software and this build in general (regardless of cook) is for you to try to install the trouble software on another ROM of the same build (23009, 23028, 23034).
Now assuming you do as I suggest and it works on that other ROM, then it would still not be 100% clear whether the issue is caused by something that I removed, OR something that I did NOT add.
Many of the heavy ROMs out there have a bunch of HTC and 3rd Party EXT packages loaded on them. Maybe the software that you are trying to use relies on one of them. Why don't you ask around?
Last, but not least the software you may want to try out substitutes for the software that you are trying to install. I am using for instance WMWIifiRouter
version 1.52
The version prior to that was NOT working on my system; but it had NOTHING to do with my ROM; it had to do with the fact that there was some incompatibility with the changes Microsoft made to the operating system in these new builds and that software. Fortunately the makers of WMWifiRouter acted quickly and came up with an update; and now it is all solved.
Hope my suggestions help.

Probabilly you have deleted something wrong in your lite rom, because i can't use CM Internet Wifi Sharing, that works in other ROMS...
please, help me ^^
I really like your roms, but i also need to use this program... and i don't want to flash other full roms.
I tryed also on 23034 v1 and v2. still the same
1. I am using CM Internet Wifi Sharing on 'Chocolate' version.
2. Check post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4395381&postcount=342
3. I am almost sure that problem is CommManager version, not the rom bulid/version

Hello everyone, can I (is it safe) to flash my device which has WM6.1. installed with this WM6.5 ROM?
Yes, but PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ the following THOROUGHLY (and all applicable links). You want to fully understand what it is you are doing - the proper sequence of actions to complete, and what to do if something unexpected happens during the flash process (including flashing the radio and the ROM).

Updated: Single List Start Menu with Titanium Looks
Yesterday a breakthrough discovery was found by a fellow xda-developers member which allowed me to fix the Single List Start Menu; so that both portrait and landscape modes are now aligned all the way to the left of the screen.
Previously the landscape mode was aligned to the left, but placed in the middle of the screen in order to avoid a 'ghost' image which appeared when switching from portrait and landscape mode and back to portrait mode.
In addition to that I found the selection image that allows the start menu to finally look the way I have always wanted. It has the same looks as the Titanium screen.
Below you will find some screen shots, and through the following link you can download the installation cab file for the "Single List Start Menu with Titanium Looks"

Bare WM 6.5 23034 is the most popular among the tree.
Of the three Bare ROMs that I have released 23009 has been the popularity leader for a long time. That is until today! 23034 has finally taken over, and in my opinion with very good cause. Having used version 23034 for many days now, I can say that it is as stable as my 23009 version; but offers a faster interface and other nice features. You can find the link to version 23034 in my signature below.

Most Popular - Bare WM 6.5 23409 Cooked ROM with unnecessary items removed ~ Witschey
The 6.5.23409 ROM became the most popular of the Bare ROM's in just three days. It has the most downloads of any of the ~ Witschey ROM's which means that people are liking it a LOT. Prior to launching the 23409 ROM, the 23034 ROM was the most popular one; but it took weeks for it to get the same amount of downloads that the 23409 ROM has achieved in only three days. If you want to download your own copy and find out if you agree with the huge popularity that it has achieved so far go to:

I haven't tried it yet (but will). I was wondering why there are three seperate threads, all having the same title? Couldn't these be merged into one?

You provably misread the titles. There is no thread title repetition. As of the writing's of this message you will find 4 threads with similar titles, because they all deal with a Bare Cooked ROMs with unnecessary item received; HOWEVER, each thread is dedicated to a different build of WM 6.5. I purposely follow the same structure on each tread because it has proven to be successful, and people like it. By following the same structure people using one build of the ROM can quickly move on to the other one without having to figure out where to find what. However each thread is DIFFERENT.
Each build requires it own thread because each build has its own source files, ROM, kitchen configuration files, screen shots, benchmark, etc. Furthermore each ROM is different from the other one and has its own bugs, its own discussion, even its own audience. Merging the three would cause an administrative nightmare and they wouldn't even be enough space to post all the information. So no they can't be merged.
Next time please visit the treads and read the titles fully before reaching the conclusion that they are the same!

You are right, Witschey. I wasn't paying attention to the version numbers. In the past, one thread normally held updates, etc. of the basic same ROM.
Not a problem. Makes sense to me. Thanks.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Starting with with September 10, 2009 I have decided to consolidate Bare WM 6.5 builds into only one (1) thread. I suggest you subscribe to the following thread to be kept abreast of future updates:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4469872&postcount=1
Updates will NO longer be posted on this threat. So if you don't subscribe to the above thread you will miss out on newer Bare WM 6.5 builds.
For your information I just released build 23047 of this popular ROM. I am very happy with this new build. It is more stable than any of the previous ones, the work in progress selection boxes have been fixed by Microsoft, the Today screen fonts no longer seem to 'fade away' etc. I get the feeling that this is an almost finished product. There is still a a cosmetic glitches, the media controls in the lock screen are still missing, etc. But overall it is much better than any of the previous builds and is a worthwhile upgrade.
Here are some screen shots. if you like them, visit the link shown above to download the new build.

Hi folks first of all thanks a lot to Paul for cooking this excellent rom. I have two problems. (1) Is there a way to map communication manager icon in the system tray directly to the communication manager instead of having to go via the wireless manager balloon? (2) Can the volume control be changed to a bigger one? I have tried so many cabs but none of them seems to work. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have replaced my Kaiser with a Rhodium (ATT Tilt 2); so I have stopped all support and follow-up for the Kaiser ROMs that I created before. I am currently using the factory load on my new phone, and I don't really have time to attempt to create a bare ROM version for the ATT Tilt 2, although I would be interested to give it a try one of these days.
