To all the folks here on the trinity forum, especially to the great cookers and to the rest of the testers, I wish you all the best , and keep exploring this phone. May the force be with you..

Unfortunately my touch screen died today. I have actually an almost dead phone. It has been serving me for 3 years and kept me company on the roads. I would have fixed it, but it would cost me about 1/3 of a new WVGA phone with TON of memory..

I have learned a lot fro this group of people here, their wisdom, their experience, and I always tried to share from my humble experience with others, answer newbies and contribute my share as a tester. I have probably flashed the phone two-three times per week.

My Touch HD should be shipped from Australia next week. I hope one day to see the same names again on the HD threads...

Farewell

Why not XDA ZEST (http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1480&view=1&c=o2_xda_zest__asus_crystal) ? :) I bought this device today, so also for me there are the last moments with Trinity...

It is a sad day for Trinity owners. However, I know we all must eventually move on. Tomme45i, your latest 6.5 ROM has been awesome. Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts in making our Trinity's great.

BigE, take care friend, and best satisfaction with the new device :)

Unfortunately I can't take a look at my SD card right now, but there is an application that will prevent the 'start' pop up when something pressed and not recognized. Also- take a business card and carefully run it between the screen and the plastic around it, letting it go underneath the plastic. You will be surprised how much crap will be going out, and how better your phone will work. on the other hand, maybe this is how i killed it..

Thanks for everyone's farewell messages. Why the HD? Because I am in the US, and travel to Europe and Far East, so I need the 850Mhz/2100 for 3G.

The Daimond2 was a good candidate as well, but my other phone is an iPhone (don't faint) and although it is in use by a teen I was impressed by the size of the screen, and how thin it is. The HD is only 12mm thick (the zest is 16.5) , it has WVGA screen of 3.8" and it has 288M RAM. Both the zest and the diamond2 are 2.8" screens. I navigate with it, and it matters...

Not to mention after 3 years with 64M RAM I want as much as I can get... 288M vs. 128M on the zest...

Oh and the diamond2 still does not work on US 3G, but it will in few months. Unfortunately, I need one NOW...

So for me, the HD is a good choice for RAM, screen size, resolution, and mainely- to shut the (beep) up the voice of my co-workers with iPhone 3Gs telling me how WM is not cool when my trinity beat their iPhone on almost every category (but screen). I want to see them turn green...:cool:
That is to say, there is no bad HTC phone... just a personal taste/need. Besides- I am sure the HD has matured enough to get a lot of cookers/testers and will allow me to tweak it ASAP ...

Is there one specifically designed for the U.S.? According to the website, the 3G is only for Asia and Europe, or am I missing something? The specs are really impressive... I'm in the U.S. also, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

HSDPA/WCDMA:
* Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
* Up to 2 Mbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds

Ah, you need to know a bit more about what model of HD... HTC came out with model T8282 with UMTS support of 900/2100 Mhz and indeed this is not working in the US.. but then HTC made an OEM for Tesltra Australia (model name T8285) that is 850/2100 Mhz and does work on AT&T in the US, with some exceptions. It may, or may not work in certain areas in the US. In Los Angeles area the coverage of 850 is wide, so i am good for most of the time. For places it doesn't, it falls into 2G speeds, but still works. That's why I had to buy the phone in Australia, and will have to unlock it when I get it.

Search T8285 on Google.. be advised- quantity to sell are low, so price is amazingly high..:rolleyes: Expect prices in the high $700s. Don't be fooled by $198 from China, or $400 on any website. I have found out they are fraud. I actually had to cancel a credit card when trying to buy one from a UK website for $400.

Thanks for the info, it's too bad, they don't just make it a Tri-band HSPDA/UMTS: 850, 1900, 2100 like our Trinity's so we can use it anywhere in the world... I really do like the specs of the Touch HD :(

Just wanted to make a point. Dopod was a company HTC acquired (at least by 50%) and they were the maker of the trinity. So in some sense HTC has it in their portfolio but I believe the design of it was not quite theirs. That explains some of the advantages it had over many other HTC models.

However, since it's design in 2006 HTC has got their own designs better, both by owning intellectual property of Dopod and because they are a good PDA/phone designers themselves.

What HTC does not excel at is making business decisions where phones may be operated world wide. Supporting Quad GSM is yesterday's news. I don't quite know a phone that supports UMTS/HSDPA world wide. I suspect it is either a tricky one to achieve from the design aspect, and it is for sure a nightmare passing FCC world wide.

I feel disabled now, without my trinity :( moved my SIM to a stupid small phone just to get calls, and it is horrible.. I hope my HD comes soon.

The HTC Fuze from AT&T is one of the few phones that I know which have Quadband UMTS/HSDPA (850/900/1900/2100 MHz), but the screen is a bit too small...

Don't like brick like phones. Hate sliding parts. Don't need a full qwerty physical keyboard... Screen is small... Not for me, although as stated, not a bad phone either.
