Internet Sharing Help

When i open the internet sharing app and select
PC Connection : USB

But for the Network Connection, it says <none>. How do get it to use my data plan if it says i have no network connection?

all those links and every other forum i have looked at only tell me how to connect if everything is working, which i can do... however, according to my internet sharing app, i have no network connection even when my data plan is connected, how to make the phone's internet sharing application recognize me broadband connection?

It should recognize it automatically

That's the problem though, it doesn't recognize my networks automatically. All of these forums just say " start Internet sharing, select USB, select you network and click connect" but I have no network to select
