View Full Version : YouTube Mobile and Streaming Video

I came across these two files and figured I'd share them with my fellow Voxers.

The one complaint (next to battery life) users have had is the ability to watch YouTube videos.

Well, I've attached the files for a 'Google Mobile' and a 'YouTube Mobile' that has worked well on my phone.

With the You'Tube mobile, you play the video straight off of the actual site and don't need any other 'codecs' for the phone. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to other streaming video web sites.

In that regard, I suggest the use of Skyfire Browser. I've attached this as well. I don't know if these are on the forum already but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have them here in this post.

Have fun.

I prefer using skyfire as well.....but for some reason using it makes my s710 really warm at the back. I figure if its hot enough to feel at the back cover that means it must be boiling inside since the heat's been conducted through the battery and back cover. This heat can't be good for the health of the battery.
I still use it from time to time in any case. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.
I suppose Vox technology is probably going to start showing it's age with software moving on to cater for more capable devices with better processors.

Also:
vTap doesn't seem to get much attention here. I think it's a great little app for internet videos.

(P.S.: I was unaware of people complaining of Vox battery life.....I always thought it had above average battery life. Even with full-on heavy use with wifi i can get 2 full days worth out of it)

That's interesting about the battery life. Do you use any special application or have some fancy tricks that you do? You're the first person I've come across to speak such crazy about the 2 days using Wi-Fi.

I also had tried vTap but it did not work for me some time ago. Maybe there has been an update that will work now.

Can an application be affected by a network provider? Here in South Africa I use Vodacom and perhaps my vTap wasn't working because the application was not compatible with the technology used by Vodacom.

Is this a feasible argument or am I talking dribble?:)

Nope, I'm not using any special apps or anything. Although I have gotten aggressive in the power saving settings and brought down the times for things switching off when idle. This was when I first got the phone and spent the first couple of days constantly browsing the internet on it and downloading apps for it....battery seemed to last a good long time.

Don't know what to say about vTap. I've tried it in a couple of places in europe and asia and it worked fine, but I always use it with wifi. I don't have a cheap data plan so I don't use GPRS much (which is slow anyway).

Oh i forgot to mention... It is core player. and the version i mentioned is for ppc, for smartphones the version that supports you tube is V1.3.0 build 6213 for arm, i.e., 2008 version. and the latest tcpmp version is 0.81 and does not supports the subtitles plugin.
