Hi all,

To clarify first of all, this is not going to be newbie post about how I expect all of you to spoon feed me readily available information. I have utilized the Internets and the Googles and searching your lovely forum for a solution to the issue that I'm having.

So, the problem I am having is that my T-Mobile Dash is not being picked up by any computer I connect it to. I have attempted to connect it via a Windows XP system via the newest version of ActiveSync which I downloaded from Microsoft. Now, as I connected it, the phone does change from a blinking green indicator to an amber one which signified that it was charging to a full green when it was fully charged. However, no matter what I tried it did not sync up.

Attempted fixes:

*Made sure that the Advanced Network Functionality box was unchecked in the Start --> Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC. No change.

*Made sure in Connection Settings for ActiveSync that USB was active. Nothin'.

*Reinstalled ActiveSync and it still didn't work.

*Attempted it on my Vista box via the Mobile Device Center and still no dice.

*Reset the phone to factory default settings

Every time I go to ActiveSync menu within the phone and press "Sync", it flashes a progress bar for half a second before reverting to back to its inactive status.

So, I am not sure where to go from here. I am using a Mini-USB to USB cable that did not come with the product. Does it require the specific cable that came with the unit? If so, why would it charge my phone, but not register for data access?

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this issue? I would be most appreciative for any advice.

Update: 'lo all, thank you to everyone who gave my post a glance over!

Wanted to let you all know that I solved my problem. Apparently the cable was the culprit after all! After recovering the original cable, I tried it sync and it worked like a charm!

So, to any of you that might have a similar issue. Don't lose your cable.

I'm having the same problem but on my Vista it says Device not recognized. This just started happening last week and I have been using the same USB cord for months now, could this have anything to do with me upgrading it to WM 6.1 Kavana 080312? But I did this upgrade like last year
