hi all,

after a long time where i had so many tips and software solutions from this community it is about time a put something back to it.
i have been looking for an application to allow me record a voice memo and send it to myself as a reminder with a voice clip attached.
found a commercial program that did not do it as i wanted so had decided to do it myself.
MemoMe is a light application that enables you to record your memo when you just got an idea or remembered something you do not want to forget, like when you drive or just do your shopping... it goes to your mail or your secretary mail etc. easy to use and configure. it supports all WM devices and all screens.
MemoMe uses any one of your existing email account so no data is passed on and your personal info is untouched, this is mainly for security reasons so no
one can use your smtp info or expose your user is & password.

as said it is offered as a freeware to all as a tribute to this wonderful comunity.

as per donations etc - is you feel like donating, please think of someone who really needs it like poor children etc or donate to charity.

OK, the first official release is now available for download.

change log from the pre - release:

- UI was completely changed.
- many internal engine changes
- sound effects were added
- the send engine was totaly changed and due to security reasons there is no direct SMTP support at all. the only mechanism supported is sending the Memo using the internal outlook engine. any existing account can be used and the configurator shows all available options. in the older version there was a need to provide your SMTP server, username and password - not very good for security... :)
this way no sensitive data is stored to be a potential risk.
if i will find a way to use a public service or any other option were no info will be stored i will consider.

setup & update procedure:
just download one of the setup packages either EXE or CAB and install it
if you have installed any older version i recommend you uninstall it and delete the folder to make sure nothing is left behind
run the config utility and just follow the few selections and save.
very easy to use and nothing to write a manual for :)
now you can use the MemoMe app and enjoy !

- AutoPilot: it is now possible to set the app to load in auto pilot mode where it does not show all 4 buttons etc. the app loads directly in recording mode where there is one big stop recording button on screen. tapping the stop recording button will automatically send the memo and exit.
naturaly the standard mode is also available - look at the configurator screen...

- SoundCompress: there is an option to dramatically compress the memo file sise (for internet air time saving) a typical 300 KB file will be ~20KB (!!), of course voice quality will be a slightly lower... but realy not too much

- Splash screen time is neerly nothing now on the AutoPilot mode...

- Configurator is automatically loaded if first run or no INI. no need to exit and run configurator...

- internal engine modifications...

- no change in pricing model - this is still the same - free :)
in spite of huge interest from mobile operators to use it as an embedded application to increase data the application will stay freeware.

currently the application supports 2 options of sending your Memo:

1 - using your SMTP information where you will have to enter your SMTP server, User & Password and to mark the Authentication if your server requires (most do).

2 - using your AS pocket outlook. if your device is configured to sync your email using pocket outlook (means your outlook can send / receive email) and the default account name is ActiveSync, that option will send the meno using this account. so when you next manually Send/Recv or it performs an automatic Send/Recv according the time intervals you specified.

the nextversion will ofer a different mechanism - either you use your outlook and by this BTW you dont even have to know or provide your SMTP info or the application will directly send using a special set SMTP account I will provide it internally.

i hope by this weekend i will have sometime so i will update the application, in the download server there is a "fresh" version - with fresh user interface that is the final UI from now i will update the functionality only -

- it will allow taking a photo, add a memo to it and send
- it will allow sending to third party as well

and the "wish list" is getting longer and longer as other guys are also sending feedbacks with ideas... :)

one thing will remain - as much it will be further developped i will keep it free, that's my obligation to this great community that provided me with so many free applications so far

Thanks for the update..I didn't notice any changes in the UI, I got the same UI as the previous ver... there were some changes in the configuration.. didn't see any option to take a photo either maybe I downloaded the wrong file?????

oh, i see.
you probably downloaded the temporary version.
the previous version had a simple blue backgroung and the white one with rounded buttons was just added, but that is not your problem :)
the version available now is the latest one (last night) and is final (before the next one :))
as i said the next version will have the camera option and more, it was important to get to a final look and functionality before going to futuristic features.
trus me that the next version will not take years ( it is under design right now but i have my real day job to attend first, this is only a hobby)

thanks Willcor, really pleased to hear that.
it did not come out of being lazy :) it came out of a real need - say you are driving or just walking, you just remembered something or were told something you do not want to forget... i operate it over a voice command so when i drive i just call the app by its name - record and send...
next will come as said a photo attachment so you will be able to take a pic add comment and send.
next will come third party reciever...
and i hope to add a voice recognition to so you can dictate...

of course - if you record and not send or the sending failed the memo is still stored in memory - usually the file is in the program folder so easy to find.
next time you run the app you can listen to the record and send
if you try to record when there is an unsent memo you will get a worning and then can choose to overwrite or go back... :)

two simple answers:

1) if you meant pocket outlook - the answer is yes - it uses outlook to post your email to yourself. if you meant pc outlook - no need to as your pocket outlook should sync to your desktop. MemoMe then sync to pocket :)

2)no. the voice memo goes as an attached file via email to your inbox, that's what it says in first place.

If you wait until max recording time in pilot mode it hangs. It draws blue line till screen end. You press hand button. Button become a clock. It again draws blue line till screen and hangs.

Is it hard to do?
If you want to record some answers of a busy person you need to wait when he will be free. He could answer one thing at a time and then you need to wait some minutes for him to became free again. Actually I could write them in separate files, but then I need to concatenate them with mpgedit.org.

Excuse me for jumping into the conversation. But I think I understand what the request was for and it sounds like a good idea.

The thought is to add a pause button, available while recording, which suspends the recording. Hitting the button again would allow you to continue to record from the point you paused it.

For example, if I am recording a memo and need to think about what I am going to say next or am temporarily distracted, I can pause the recording and then continue when I am ready. The way MemoMe works now, I would stop the recording and then start a new one; creating two files. The pause feature would leave create just one file.

Hope this helps clarify the question!

oh i see, now i get it. the "answer" issue just confused.
i will see what i can do to accommodate this as now it seems to be reason.
in any event - stopping the record and resume will NOT create 2 files, it will either let you send the first and then record the new one or overwrite the first with the new one.

i checked your feedback, it seems odd as it works perfectly as regarding to the time limit.
after time limit is activated the recording is automatically stoped and the app goes to main menu or sends the memo if you are on AutoPilot.

as per the sounds - yes there is a beep if you mark not to use soundFX and i will remove it so either it plays the sounds or keep silent.

this will be soon ready for download and i will of course announce it.
please make sure you are using the latest version from the download link, this link allways keeps the lates version and i will keep on replacing it to avoid multi versions...

I've just upgraded my device to a TP2 (Rhodium), which doesn't have either of the two standard methods of taking voice memos that were available to me on my previous device (TyTn2) .. so your work here is especially appreciated :)

Some feedback based on what I have seen thus far, if I may:

Version control - Could you please assign a version number to each new release, so that on the download page it is easy to see if we have the latest version or not?please make sure you are using the latest version from the download link, this link allways keeps the lates version and i will keep on replacing it to avoid multi versions...

Local copy option - sending the memo by email is a great option, but most times i would like to keep the memo on my device because data bundles in my country are very expensive. So could you please let the user decide what he wants to do each time a memo is recorded? Eg: send to default recipient / send to custom recipient / keep local copy. The local copy could be named with an auto-incrementing suffix to keep the filenames unique. And leaving the option open per memo of what to do with each one broadens the scope of use of your app.

indeed this was my intention as per the options with the momo files and it will be implemented next version.
i also will keep track on version numbers as you do have a point there.
am glad my work is of use to you - enjoy.
memo files will also be sendable to others not just you for example a lawyer can send to his secratery, you can send as a recorded greeting to your girl friend on her b-day etc...
you will also be able to take a photo, add a voice memo and send it as one package to whom ever you chhose like a private investigator catches you with your girl friend while your wife is waiting at home... :)

this looks odd, MemoMe should work onany device running WM 5 and up with .net CF 3.5.

what is the result you get when running the app ?

basically the Memo file is kept in the app folder - where the app is installed, and it is called MemoMe.wav.

now, as per your email account - it must be your ActiveSync account, it does not need to be automatically send/recv but if it is not active it will never send the memo. some of the users are settingf it to manual due to high cost of traffic and when cradle to the pc all the memo files are being manually sent.

by the way - what language your decie is set for ?
the app is looking for account name "ActiveSync" and i know that in some places due to language issues the account is called something else.

should you need any further help please do not hesitate...

i do not follow other links as i did not put them in public, the only link i manage is this one at XDA - all the others (and i have seen that there are many) are not kept by me and may be outdated.

the original application is and will be freeware

there are some new versions i am working on that will be commercial versions as they came as requests by several operators (must admit that this tiny simple application was taken far beyond what i though as per usage and functionality - can't complain :))

I must apologize; I realized that I don't have .net CF. Just installed it and it seems that it works!

The only remark that I have is that the loading time is somewhat long.... not sure if that has to do with CF installed on my card rather than main memory.

Just a quick note to say thanks for app - which is very easy to set up and to use. Been looking like this for some time and have tried a couple of different solutions, neither of which worked as well as this.

BTW, using a Samsung Omnia SGH-i900, Win 6.1 and Net 3.5...

I downloaded this on my X1, WM6.1 with NET3.5

Installed on storage card.
Opened the programm, put my mailadres in it. So far so good...if I do this through my mail account, I can not send e-mail anymore after he send the memo as the SMTP settings are changed to a faulty smtp server for some reason. Before posting this I tried it a few times, I have to soft reset my X1 and change the settings of my outlook mail again to send mail from my mobile. This happens everytime I use your programm.

This programm is very handy, but I need to send e-mail often due to my work, so I am afraid I have to delete it from my X1.
Do you know this problem? Is there any solution??..

if you have SMTP option in the config it means you are having a VERY old version - goto the first post and download the updated version. there is no other link in any other download website other than here - all the others are copies and not updated - only here at post 1

now once you install the updated version you will be able only to set one of the emails you already have on your device - NO smtp option is there for your security!!!

there is an Auto-Pilot option where you have one big button to record and than to stop and it will automatically exit and send the memo using the selected email. if you are not online it will be sent next time you are online or when you connect to pc (AS)

there is a regular option screen where you can record, play send and exit = 4 buttons

if you have any further questions fill free to leave a message and try to add some screenshot so i can understand what's on your mind :)

Okay, thank you for your time and reply.


I deleted my mail account, and make a new one, because the other one was crashed using the old memo file I had.

I downloaded the new version from your startpost.
Put the cab on my memorycard and installed the program on my memorycard.
Opened your program and set the mailaccount I just made.

Spoke a test message in and it closes automatically.
Went to my mailbox. In my outbox there was the memo.
Manually send it out, and 1 minute later it is on my desktop.

And it worked perfect. Thank you very much again. It is an usefull tool to have.

there is no actual limit on recording time.
the internal combo will allow until 360 seconds but you can just enter any amount of seconds in the config and just save it
mind that the only issue is your storage space...
if you wish you can also use sound compression - this will actually cut the size with no real effect on audio quality.
i suggest you try with 5 minutes with and without compressing and see the differences.
if bandwidth is an issue or air time don't let it send automatically and do it manually when you dock or within a wifi range so you will save cost
another idea is to use a dedicated mail acount that send/recv only manually, it can be any kind of account like a secondary google account (i do so) and only when i dock or have wifi i send it all using send/recv...
or just let it go automatically if air time / cost is not an issue

2 - this does not work as well, for openers when you start it it takes 2 touches to record, also the GUI you are using is covering the top task bar which I use wktask and cannot switch out. Please just an option to not close when using Auto Pilot.

Also one other option that would be nice is the ability to add on to the subject line after recording.

2 - this does not work as well, for openers when you start it it takes 2 touches to record, also the GUI you are using is covering the top task bar which I use wktask and cannot switch out. Please just an option to not close when using Auto Pilot.

Also one other option that would be nice is the ability to add on to the subject line after recording.

That way no typing is needed but the subject can be much more informative based on the each user's needs.

as per the subject issue - i'm afraid it is not in the scope of what i planned for this app, it is already gone far, it was meant to be a simple tiny app just for the memo.

@ZeevG I think that 30second bug is in this version (you latest) I just upgrade and found that while I am recording the time is incrementing but upon playback I found that only 30seconds is actually recorded, please check and let me know if its just me or is it that bug.


@ZeevG I think the bug is in the playback, This is what I did I uninstall the latest version and reinstall ver 151 and played the clip that I recorded with the latest version and ver 151 played the hole file which was about 75seconds.

My only complaint is having to use ogg for compressed files - why not plain old mp3 - easier to find simple play back support.

Other than that, if you don't do my subject suggestions, how about preloading the date and time into the subject?

I use Tellme. You can send an email to anyone in your contacts. It will transcribe what you dictate (at least in English, I don't know if it will handle non-English languages)

I have 2 questions:

1 - Do you know of a service that you could email to first that would do a speech to text conversion? That would be really nice - you could say first - Subject - bla bla... and then leave the note.

2 - Can you have an option to leave it running rather then exit so it would come up faster?

Also I agree a Pause Button would be a very nice addition for those of us that have to pause and think a bit before speaking.

currently the application supports 2 options of sending your Memo:

1 - using your SMTP information where you will have to enter your SMTP server, User & Password and to mark the Authentication if your server requires (most do).

2 - using your AS pocket outlook. if your device is configured to sync your email using pocket outlook (means your outlook can send / receive email) and the default account name is ActiveSync, that option will send the meno using this account. so when you next manually Send/Recv or it performs an automatic Send/Recv according the time intervals you specified.

the nextversion will ofer a different mechanism - either you use your outlook and by this BTW you dont even have to know or provide your SMTP info or the application will directly send using a special set SMTP account I will provide it internally.

i hope by this weekend i will have sometime so i will update the application, in the download server there is a "fresh" version - with fresh user interface that is the final UI from now i will update the functionality only -

- it will allow taking a photo, add a memo to it and send
- it will allow sending to third party as well

and the "wish list" is getting longer and longer as other guys are also sending feedbacks with ideas... :)

one thing will remain - as much it will be further developped i will keep it free, that's my obligation to this great community that provided me with so many free applications so far

The program crashes when I try to read the record within MemoMe (on the phone).
The sequense is, <record start>, "bla bla bla", <record stop>, <record read>, "bla bla bla" and just after crash.

for some reason the email with attechment can not be send.
It just is in the outbox forever. Also other mails which I send after using memome will be stuck in the outbox.

I have to delete the memome files out of the outbox and soft reset before I can use my email again.
This way it is not working for me.

ok, let's take it one at the time:

1. there is nothing the app is doing and spam. if your isp marked you as spam it has nothing to do with MemoMe as the app is using your email account. i suggest you check and make sure it is not your email who is marked as spam

2. if the mail is not sent please make sure you can send emails with attachments from this account. once again there is nothing the app is doing neither with the email or account other than just create a new mail with attachment and put it into outbox. it is maybe marked as manual send so it will not sent automatically... ?

3. other means of sending - yes in the beginning i had in mind to implement other means like using my smtp server or each one can use an open form to insert his own smtp details. both options created a security risk or option for users to think their smtp details are exposed to me or anyo one else and by that compromise their privacy - therefore i dropped these options and left only existing email accounts so no security issues

4. MemoMe can use any of the existing email account already created on your device, one of them is the activesync. a known issue is that in other languages some times this account is called in another name - the app works with ActiveSync only so for that purpose either find a way to restore the original name or create a third party email like gmail etc and use it instead

5. as per crashing on playback - this is unknown to me but if i can think of anythink is that maybe your device has a problem playing ogg format and you marked compression on. try unmark it so the memo will be recorded in normal wav format and try it now...

if there is any other issue i left out or a new one just raised - you know the drill - place a note and i will attend to it ASAP :)

Well, I have reinstalled version 1.0 and it works and no Spam problem. That means for me that there is an issue in 1.6 that makes the server think that it is SPAM.

Hello ZeevG,

I was excited when I found this program because it's exactly what I've been looking for. HOWEVER, I keep receiving an error whenever I try to use the program.

When program first loads, I receive a warning message, but just block characters, not actually any English text. So, I press okay and then the program initially loads. At this point, whenever I try to press the record button, the program crashes with an "unexpected exception" error that says "audio format not supported."

I am using an HTC Touch Pro 2 running Windows Mobile 6.5. I am using a custom NRGrom (available on this site), but I don't think the ROM would affect anything, and I have not had any problems with other programs not working because of the different flashed ROM.

If you can provide any suggestions, I would be most appreciative.

sounds very odd to me, what language are you using ?
small boxes usually is a language issue...

i am not familiar with your rom but it should work on any device runing windows mobile 5 and up. you need to install .netcf 3.5 as well

i use it on my HD2 win win6.5 and i have many feedbacks - all are working.
i think it is not your rom problem,
please try to provide some more details and i will try to help

basically it is all based on standard tools nothing tricky

sorry but this looks like a device issue, there is something in your device that clashes with the app.
try on a clean device and see.

OK, I was able to find v1.6 on Softpedia.

I like it except for the load speed - on Touch Pro 2 it's 8 sec... too long if trying to record something in a hurry. Same time regardless of whether it's installed on SD or in the main memory. Is there anything at all that could be done to speed it up ?
