yeah i have the rhodium and mega version cabs there. i use the mega one, you need to install a couple of things for it to work but hey it works fine

The only thing that bothers me on the WM6.5 build is the battery drain, more so with blackberry connect data comm on. The ROM's are damn fast at the expense of power drain. I hope you could shed light on how to get around the problem through a patch?

quite true, the battery drain is a bother. but there is nothing much we can do abt it. this has been an issue with other devices as well, which like elf's dont have a native kernel for 6.5 OS

it will be our luck, if htc does a job of updating elf's with a 6.5. but considering...that is as low as (minus) -100% of happening

so 6.5 is catchy...but you gotta be real catchy from your side as well..i mean keep the device dimmed whenever possible. dont keep the bluetooth and other battery draining items from functioning without your knowledge.

and unless you really wana make a call from the toilet, dont make calls from where the range is way low.

damn.....so 6.5 on our elf's mean a change of our lives??

i still prefer 6.1 on me device. 6.5 is nice...and when i cant stand it, i flash 6.5....keep it arnd for sometime...and boom...its back to my good ol' 6.1

Thanks ayyu3m. I didn't expect to trouble or bug you, kancrutt or anybody else with this issue but It's really worth making the Elf SX 2.0 one of the best if not the best builds around if the issue is resolved.

I've seen similar complaints in this thread on the battery drain issue to the point that one mentioned up to 20% drain overnight! My benchmark is simple & can be replicated consistently. It's also the overnight test wherein I fully charge Elfin before going to bed around 12 or 01 AM, then take note of voltage level 6 AM in the morning which is still 100% in build 23009 & 97% in SX 2.0.

I get no calls or text messages while the PDA is in standby mode in the evening and still use up (drain) 3% power using SX 2.0.:( Daily usage is normal: data comm on all the time (BB Connect to push mails), 3 hour bluetooth headset when driving, 5 to 10 combination of incoming/outgoing calls lasting 3 -5 min on avg. each call. and 2 hours WiFi connection for browsing. I'm a very light user. I only drain on avg.40% so I still get 60% battery level back home in the evening with build 23009.

Setting up a Cyne3yte 6.5 test ROM is asking too much more so requesting the cooks to incorporate the very old 23009 build. But, let me know how I can be of any help. I'll try to reflash SX 2.0 during the weekend & check if replacing the battery & power dll's from build 23009 has any effect on the power drain.

Like you do, I usually stick to one ROM I find suiting my taste & style although I myself is a ROM flasher junkie. :D

i agree with you man. it would be great to have one 'perfect' cooked rom with absolutely no issues. not that it really is ever gonna happen anytime soon (unless htc get the idea of bringing wm6.5 to the elf officially)

if theres any way that we can help to bring this 'perfect' rom to reality then i believe helping cooks with all issues and be more pro-active would be a great idea. its up to the chefs though to decide :D

its not touchflo 3d its only 2d i'm afraid. the elfin cant take the load tf3d puts on the processor amd it needs direct3d drivers to run it whic won't work with the phone.

after using this rom for about a week , i should say its the best rom ever.no critical bug , a stable wm 6.5 and touchflo does it all. i know that touchflo cause some issues like battry drain or memory leak , but at the end its the best Ui ( both look and usage) for our old elfs.

so im very thankfull of you and please continue the exact package with next wm 6.5 builds.

Coming back to the problem of memory leak.

I'm using the light build for 3 days. I'm kinda happy with it. Fast and stable.
In relationship to Onyx 5.0.2 I am only missing the uc feature (now installation only lasts longer because of manually installation - no essential problem) ...

...and loss of memory.

After booting I have 26mb free (with disabed phone skin), end of the day 20mb, a further day 15mb. Then the phone freezes. I got no additional application running all the time...

Did anybody else see this effect of memory leak?

Now I'm using your WM6.5 23017. It works almost perfect for me. I just have few problems(but I can live with it).

1. It drain my batt fast.
2. Missing da G and E Icon for Edge and GPRS on Taskbar.(Even install fix cab file still missing E Icon)

Everything else working PERFECT!!! I really LOVE this ROM!!! Can't wait for your next ROM!!!

Although sim unlocking has nothing to do with updating a rom.....
because a sim-locked phone can still be updated...as long as it's CID unlocked, it definitely isn't a bad idea to have a rom that automatically sim-unlocks your phone after it's been updated.....

so if with one file replaced we can use any SIM on our elf why not try to replace the original file in the build with the file in that topic and try if works?if is possible...why not?

it's small theory...but if we try to test that and work for elf user that have sim-lock...it's a step to us...because with that we don't have anymore to do the replace of the rilgsm.dll file after flash to use a SIM of another provider in this ROM.

not sure if it's related to the rom, but for some reason it doesn't keep wifi settings. i connect to my access point with a key, and then, if i don't use wifi for a while, it makes me enter it again.

how do i keep my settings and make the connection default, so it wouldn't ask for other networks all the time?

Hello - I've just installed this ROM (my first ROM) after doing the CID unlock and flashing another ROM that came with the CID unlock (not sure if I should have done that).

Anyway, whole thing was dead easy, I now have 6.5 installed and running. Some comments:

- its is as quick or slightly faster/more responsive than before (i.e. not great!)
- menus/keyboard/etc. all 100% better
- I had to set up 3G or whatever its called manually (connections - add - name "Orange Internet" - number "orangeinternet)
- I have just ActiveSynched my contacts/calendar/tasks - no problems
- I have set up email synch via Exchange - no probs
- I have set up PO3 e-mail from hotmail - no probs
- Facebook works :)

All done on a Vista PC.

I'll feedback if I have any probs over the next few weeks as I am quite a heavy user.

it's small theory...but if we try to test that and work for elf user that have sim-lock...it's a step to us...because with that we don't have anymore to do the replace of the rilgsm.dll file after flash to use a SIM of another provider in this ROM.

I´m really impressed with your ROM, even after installing quite some stuff it´s still running smooth, and have a very decent level of free RAM, here´s what I installed:


Chinese support + chinese SIP (this alone is already quite heavy, around 2MB RAM)
RSS reader
Google maps
icontacts burtedition
astraware boardgames
appstar ATcontacts
shaps advanced config to move all temp folder to SD card

And some manual editing of Titanium CPR for bigger fonts. And I still have 19MB free RAM on startup! Excellent! Thank you! And to anyone that´s doubting, see attached file and try for yourself :)

PS: I don´t dare to install showaco titanium weather or Clauncher, because they require mortscript, and I´m guessing that would be too much, what do you think?

I'm not too sure of that... There are quite a few differences in the ROMs between the Elf and Elfin. I wouldn't suggest using a ROM designed for an Elfin on an Elf. That'll be much like running Win XP on a system designed for Win 2000; I'd say it might possibly run, but if that works it won't be very fast at all... :confused:

Yes you can my friend. I've done that and it sure rocks! The only thing I think you have to do is to change the pagepool to 12MB. The ROM is designed for Elf so it probably only have 6MB pp. Use the pp changer found in ROM kitchen/tools and change pp before flashing the ROM.

I'm currently in a different ROM so couldn't check the reg settings, but to show sim contacts I think you have to set dword to 1 (= yes). If the entries are not there you can create one using something like PHM Reg Editor.

In Onyx "all Settings" goes to general settings menu not just connection settings. (at least in WM 6.1 versions...)

Good job mate. This is the fastest ELF 6.5 with Manila I've ever used.

without overclock from moment of hitting the power button to full boot-up with Manila operational without delay, sliding from home to the end programs, with all icons appear without delay. 1 min 10 seconds. This is really really fast. It still have 20MB of free program and nearly 40MB of free storage, which you already include so many stuffs which I don't use. It's a wonder what you've done. Hope HTC can learn from this for all their roms, especially those TF3D, which is sooooooooooo slow ..................

Using SX 2.0 wm 6.6(its ahead of wm6.5 cos kancrutt made it so good) for like 1 week now.Evything works fine and fast but there are serious battery issues which i think i shud bring to your notice.

Battery fluctuation is very high,once my battery goes from 100% to 70% in 5 minutes of using wifi and when i soft reset its back to 90%.

The battery loss is also very high overnight,like i charge my battery full at night and when i wake up the battery is 70-80%

But still these cant stop me from using this ROM,but if they can be resolved it will be great!!!!!!!!!!!:p

EDIT:I use an elfin and backlight is also low and I use optimal settings for power saving which every1 uses

The honeycomb menu is part of WM 6.5, it can't be 'removed', you can change it though... Why not try Lesscro Start Menu (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534123&highlight=lesscro)? There is also a QVGA version here (http://www.4shared.com/file/110392173/f933c1d3/LeSScro_Start_Menu_v2.html) if you need it.

I use a Elfin and was using dsixda's onyx wm6.5. It was good. But recently I updated to 5.2.1 and there created a problem.

So was searching for some other rom rather than bugging dsi.

Stumbled upon yours and gave it a shot. From the booting, it impressed me. Look wise, simply awesome. Using the 4.0 Mega.

Here are my observations,
1. Touch is somewat unresponsive. Both in M2D as well as in Start menu.
2. Personally like the honeycomb. Dont remove it.
3. From connection manager, not able to enable BT. But works from Settings -> BT -> Check box.
4. Had a tough time using WMP, cos, mine is a 8GB SD and have 4GB of songs in it, all saved as a single playlist. When tried to open the playlist, it takes ages. The same happens in dsi's rom too, but there i made use of the AM.
But by default, AM has been removed in yours. So, separately d/l AM, and it worked. But not able to see the player, only the playlist shows. As well as, when I hit player from the bottom menu, AM disappears and not shown anywhere, but able to play the songs.
5. Time doesnt stay on when unlocking the mobile. It shows a different time and then the time changes. This happens when we go to start and come back to Home screen.
6. Arrows missing in scroll bars.
7. Lock screen, the bottom bar overlaps the time shown.

You have made one eye candy of a ROM, kudos for that.

If all the above issues are fixed, no one can beat this rom when it comes to functionality as well as look.

Keep up the gud work and awaiting a bug free release.

Is it? Thanks for confirming the time issue is with M2D and not the ROM. Weather in the home screen updates for me. Surprisingly, it updates grasping the location through my SIM I believe. Because, I work in a different state and live in a different state. The city it shows is different as per my current location. I beleive this helps in finding which place I am in. Like in old mobiles.
I love this feature and as you have mentioned, look wise this is the best.

Forgot to mention in my observations list,
1. In my prev ROM, when I restore the backup thru PPC, once done, If I press exit, the software hangs, forcing me to soft reset. Luckily, the exit works in this ROM.
2. Hibernate software doesnt do anything.

Was thinking of flashing 5.2.2 of Onyx and then updating M2D, but the looks of this ROM is stopping me to do it.

The comm manager is again a pain. Normally, if you touch the desired setting, the on or off activates. But in this ROM, we have to double touch the on or off slider to activate it. Strange though.

Just a small note; but if you think about it logically, the Elf and Elfin only have a 201mhz CPU, and the former is rather lacking in RAM... The Elfin did a better job with RAM and ROM sizes, but the CPU is identical. None of the official ROMs for these devices come with M2D as far as I know, and I can almost guarantee that HTC wouldn't release an official WM 6.5 ROM for it either.. 6.1 is probably the highest HTC will take it.

For some or the other reason it is true..when I was having the Onyx for 6.1, M2D was cooked in it. I didnt feel any unresponsiveness. This is the first time, I am using M2D with 6.5

Not trying to hijack the Elf SX thread with Onyx talk here, but I'm using Onyx 5.2.2, didn't add much to it and I have it on the old-style Today screen (not the CHome panel thingy); as it is, this particular ROM is one of the fastest I've used.

I am keen to try the newer Elf SX ROMs though, I was suitably impressed with SX 2.0 and 2.0 Lite when I tried them, I just found Onyx suited my style better at that stage...

if it is the Audio manager from the MEGA then you need the music tab enabled on M2D as it uses that tab as the front of the app.

Onyx is one of the famous and widely used ROM AFAIK and comparing it with SX is something good for the author. Anyways, all our post here are our personal opinions accordance to our experience with each ROM.
Thanks once again for clarifying that this ROM is the fastest.
I was in a dilemma whether to go for 5.2.2 and M2D for 2 reasons,
1. Inability to use AM
2. Sound thru my BT was too low, and since not able to get the AM player in view, culdnt increase the player volume.

But, finally tried again with WMP, worked this time, but the sound was low. Then finally found out my BT was in low sound. My bad though.
Will wait for the author to release a new one.

Instead of shouting and yelling at our great cook kancrutt i tried to fix some things-

1)Comm manager-The comm manager of mega doesnt work,there is problem with wifi and bluetooth.So i replaced it with the old comm manager this can be easily found just search the htc comm manager.Download the file and install and then soft reset,you will get the diamond comm manager.Its old but works perfectly.....

although i did change the M2d background a bit to look more like the skin for SX2.0 as i preferred it more....

i have no complaints whatsoever with this rom, all the bugs i've encountered are easily overcome by researching the MEGA threads

i think it is appaling for people to come in here and demand that kancrutt change his rom, and i think a lot of people even kancrutt himself will agree.

kancrutt it may be helpful for you to add the registry fix i posted to the FAQ post....

What I always do is by the registry, disable the arrows (0 height) and reduce the thickness of scrollbars to 8. And it seems iphone like, and no arrows needed at all! (I will post a screen capture later..)

Tried multiple AM, but nothing works, cannot view the player, if enable player to show, AM vanishes. Lastly tried AM by WAlien, got a msg not valid PPC application. Weird thou.
Made WMP work for me, so issue closed for me.

if u wanna see AudioManager shown player just disabled M2D, latest version of AudioManager like that

If you don't really feel like editing the registry, why don't you try Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070); it come standard with some ROMs, but if you don't have it, the cab file is available at the thread.

I'm sure Kankrutt was kind enough to include it in his ROMs though? When I tried SX 2.0, I seem to remember seeing it in the Start menu.... :D

Hi sry for the bad english.

I load the ROM and everything is ok it runs great, but when i stop the phone to insert the SIM and microSD and restart it it dose not start. And the ON/OFF botton dont work.

Hi, after flashing SX4.0 and start up the phone, I can't see all the contacts from my sim card when I open Contact except in Sim Manager. Anyone face this problem? Any workaround? Please advice. Thanks.

when in sim manager select all phonebook entries and then tap on save to contacts,
it'll move em from sim to phone

Thanks for the advice. In this case, I will have 2 sets of contacts, one inside my phone and another one inside my sim. Thought of I can just maintain one set and all the while I am using the contact from sim. I even tried out the registry changed but it is still the same.

Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone
Key: ShowSim (dWord)
Value: 0 = hide
1 = show

Also, I found SX4.0 is missing Office Mobile which might be useful to me. Any way to install it separately?

Got it. I downloaded [WM6.1] Manila 2D v2.0 build 19171723 patched by mbarvian http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541750 And working great. Because right now I'm using Onyx Ultimate 4.8 and I installed this M2D i have now smaller storage space. But I'm Downloading now this Rom Elf Sx 1.1 6.1 and I will try this later to see if which one will give me more free storage and memory space. Does els sx 1.1 is the final version for 6.1? Thanks

Yesterday I downloaded Elf SX 1.1 (WM 6.1) and tried it. It seems immediately after install and first boot (after UC) the free program memory is around 17-18 MB only :( too bad... very low for me.. i guess the PP is 4 MB but when i tried the pagepool changer, it doesnt work, it doesnt even show the current PP.

I was using TESS 4.5 premium and changed the PP to 4 MB and the used to give me around 23-24 MB free program memory immediately after reset.

I cant go for WM 6.5 as some of the programs that i need (UpToDate and Epocrates) dont run in 6.5.. so i'm stuck with 6.1 till those programs start supporting the new 6.5 ;)

Hopefully our cook kancrutt will improve as time goes by. BTW thanks for your effort.:)

Wouldn't flashing the ROM replace the setting for the pagepool size...? As far as I know, that's something that is set in the ROM itself and the PP changer is used to change without having to manually edit and flash again... :confused:

Nope : this PP Changer operates directely on the ROM's .nbh (a matter of seconds) and then you flash the modified ROM on your ELF(in).

I've just tried FingerKeyboard in SX 4.1
and running well ;) maybe Resco Keyboard problem? (i've never use that)
