I had an interesting problem that basically results in all data loss if it happens. On a particular Blue Angel I was working on, the touch screen somehow lost its calibration. In attempting to get to the calibration menu, the wonky screen somehow hit "Lock" on the bottom left corner of the Start Menu, and the device locked. Since the touchscreen became uncalibrated there was NO WAY for me to touch the tiny area and slide it properly. Thus I could not unlock the device even though LOCK is something that I NEVER EVER USE. I had to hard reset and lost all data. In WM2003, this would never have been a problem! I imagine if someone does use device lock, a screen decalibration incident would result in all data loss too which is unacceptable!
I tried the classic style lock screen which requires less precision but it still involves the need to touch a specific screen area in order to unlock it.
Is there any way to get rid of the Lock option in the Start Menu competely? A registry key perhaps? I want NOTHING to do with the device lock feature, it just seems to cause more problems and data loss than anything else. Any suggestions?
