Five minutes feels like a long time when you're doing things like this but be patient, it'll come to life. When I'm doing a new flash and get to the Hero screen I sit and wait for the front buttons to light up. At that point I know it's pretty safe to think it worked.

I didn't say it originally but I'll echo other comments of thanks to Drizzy and Haykuro for more Hero goodies!

as drizzy sed takes along time to load about 15-20min for me but it did work and is very fast for a quick drop...low internal memory...java is the beez kneez

maps isnt finding my location, but i dont think ive ever had it find my location on the first try.

this rom is pretty speedy once you get past the 3-5 minutes of loading. it isnt quite as quick as the drizzy v3 builds, but it isnt optimized. it is a full hero rom, too.. so plenty of somewhat usless things are included (footprints).

no loads on the home screen with a couple of widgets. will try moving my cache and rebooting. hopefully that will make rosie a bit more responsive.

EDIT:

the longer i play around with it, the faster it gets. 7 screens of widgets and it was flying. no lag anymore. have yet to reboot with cache moved and setcpu running.

it's easier to just download them from your computer than transfer them over to your phone. that's what i'm doing. tested out 5 or 6 apps so far

EDIT: seems that java apps don't like landscape mode unless you click menu on the java app, then choose "Rotate". whenever i rotated in portrait mode to landscape, the right side of the screen would freeze up while the left was completely unaffected. hmmmm gonna reboot and try it again.

Gps,WiFi,browser,MT, Youtube HQ, All widgets, market, sms/mms all working and haven't seen any loading HTC only on first boot.one bug is there are DOUBLE ringtones again...overall everything is fast and stable. If it keeps giving you issues after issues even with a clean wipe and install. You may have to reformat your SD card and repartition it again and then do a clean install. Give that a try and see if that fixes the issues.

Fixed it by deleting the dalvik-cache from ext3 partition.

Did you try what krazy outlined as to a possible fix to your problem? If so, I'm not quite 100% sure but you may have a corrupt rom and should re-download again. It would probably be better if you told us what you did from start to finish so we can try and rule out any possibilities.

hmmm... i've used the java app itself to install all of mine. press menu, then choose SD and choose from there and it'll bring up some boxes that you can just approve all of them. a lot of the java apps i've tried recently have been using "too much memory" and shutting themselves down. :\

hey everyone, if there is a java app and an android app of the same software, DOWNLOAD THE ANDROID APP INSTEAD! ANDROID IS NEWER AND BETTER! :).

the only reason to use java apps is for the ones not available on android. java is much older man. i've already encountered issues with certain java apps as mentioned earlier about too much memory being used equaling self-closes.

if you find any GOOD java apps/games, please please please LIST them or start a thread somewhere and add the link here. i appreciate it!

hey everyone, if there is a java app and an android app of the same software, download the android app instead! Android is newer and better! :).

The only reason to use java apps is for the ones not available on android. Java is much older man. I've already encountered issues with certain java apps as mentioned earlier about too much memory being used equaling self-closes.

If you find any good java apps/games, please please please list them or start a thread somewhere and add the link here. I appreciate it!

Everything seems to work great so far, seems to run smoother than any of the other hero builds I've tried. I repartitioned card, installed and it only took a few minutes to boot up. Great job once again haykuro and dizzy!

I would if i could man, it is running very well so far and cpu is set at 384/245. Some lag in home screen but no force closes whatsoever. Only problem I've come across is my t mobile app won't show device info which is no biggie

the first screen shot is the snaptu app which is in java. if you look over to the far right it is loading and to the left of that the screenshot shows you that he clicked snaptu. basically, it's java's version of twitter and facebook plus other stuff like a football app for soccer and news etc (all have a VERY BASIC layout because JAVA is older which is why it was designed for nokia's and old samsungs and what not), so yeah don't expect anything special, lol.

seems fine to me. SMS's coming through properly. no real delays. ROM is pretty responsive.

i searched through all 13 pages before i asked but, is bluetooth working on this rom? its the only reason i dont use hero roms. i work in customer service answering phones and i use my bluetooth earpiece all day to drown out the whining customers. the 1st page says FULL ROM but im not sure if that means bluetooth also. before you flame me look at my previous posts i only ask questions if i CANT find the answer.

ok...im once again gettin an issue with the rom not being able to get a location fix with a 3g connection. I think ive elevated past newb status enough to know i flashed the rom correctly and it does work when i use cyanogen and virtududes rogers roms. I also for troubleshooting purposes should clarify I am on tmobile US. GPS doesnt seem to be getting a fix either.

yes, ccyrowski says to pop out keyboard for a moment then put it back. this has worked for me but always with a bit of tinkering, which is probably due to my extraordinary impatience

for this build i got stuck at htc, pulled out kb, got nothing

it worked


By the way the desktop with widgets on every screen is very smooth, app and widget menu comes up quick and are very smooth

apps ie message/people, etc are still a bit laggy but i really think this build has the most potential yet

Im sad to report this but, txt issues hasnt gone away. I sent my self 10txts from the net and only received 5, i ignored the issue. But then i missed 2txts from 2 diff persons :(damnit! go online and find a mobil java game then download it to your pc. then tranfer it the root of your sd card. then use astro or oi to open and download it.. java will then see it :) i downloaded lego racers haha but it froze at the start of the game :(

Wifi YES! Bluetooth didnt work! The Time will bring Bluetooth but not Yet! ;)

- Dialer lag
- When my alarm goes off and you have to swipe down to turn off it lags out and ends up going off again
- Text message app lags quite a bit

I love the work DDR but I always end up going back to my Cyanogen for speed... Hopefully when the Hero update comes out, unless this Haykuro ROM already has it, the speed issues will really be fixed. Dialer lag and alarm lag are the deal breakers for me.

Great job all is working here. 512mb ext3, 32mb swap. the one thing that i really like is how the people app opens in a 2 secs or less and displaying my contacts. I'm using a 42MB swap and I can't seem to make this rom give me a load screen!
This rom is smooth and everything works that is supposed to (No BT and LED's of course) but I know those features are on the horizon!
This rom is fast and I can't imagine seeing how fast it could get once Drizzy puts his "secret optimization" on this!! :eek:

I would say this one is just a bit quicker than the rest of the hero builds so far. I have gone through about every hero build with about 20 apps, 7 widgets, class 4 sd card.

This is the first time I have ran the cache to sd and I changed my swap to 40 from 32. Other than this, I did the same as I usually do for a new rom-
Deleted and repartitioned my ext2(upgraded to ext3)
Wiped data
Fixed file extensions
applied the update. (This is for the people reporting errors, this fixes it almost every time)

I went to Engadget and a couple other webpages to bookmark as well as went to getjar and watched a flash movie of one of the programs. Returning home from this gave me the load screen to get back to home, so this isnt the miracle rom. (This was before I moved the cache to the sd card)

All in all, drizzy's hero roms still remain the fastest and most stable. For people that are on the fence, you might want to wait a day or two to get the update of this that is optimized and has the twisted LED's working, but I am quite happy with it.

Okay so I flashed last night, set everything up the way I like it and went to sleep. 8 hrs later still flows smoothly and everything loads as smooth as it did at first flashing. I use Google Voice as much as possible so I can tell when I don't get a text with the native sms app. I did miss a few. Whats weird is when I'm using the phone everything seems to be pretty immediate (notifications and what not). As for the overall experience, I'm really happy with the stability and smoothness.
I'm using 8gig class 6, Fat32>Ext3>linux-swap64
So sms and location over 3g are giving me issues, everything else rocks :)

dunno if it helps. but i was still mounted to my labtop, then i tried to open a few apps. they didnt open and then i noticed i was still mounted. unmounted and then my screen was flat black. home, or back btn didnt help. had to use power button.

also the app qik, is not too friendly with the rom right now. it's the first time ive ever used it though. it did a FC loop on touchflo when it was in landscape mode from sleep screen to on.

at first not all that great, but now it's freakin smooth as hell. and more stable, i guess i just had to let it sit for awhile. thought that it would slow like usual after all the apps install like usual hero build, but it's pretty smooth.

For those of you wondering, as I didn’t see anyone mention it, this ROM (Hero) has the best ring response for me.

After moving my preferred ringtone to /system/media/audio/ringtones and changing the renice values, my g1 rings at the end of the first ring.

Now if some nice dev could figure out how to keep the renice values to stay on all the time…

err flash player works , but not shockwave. I went to break.com and it loads hour glass, but then gets the no go. doh!

THATS the point, drizzy's touvhflo was "optimized" this has not been optimized yet and its damn close to it...i have widgets loaded ont his thing and not 1 htc screen when going home.

I did get a htc screen when i watched a flash video while on twitter but i havent messed with chache to sd or anything yet.

I honestly am getting tired of all the Hero's out there but this will do while awaiting "dopod"

Well, I took the Plunge and Flashed this new Rom.

So far everything is working, sms even, though I'm on the edge network, 3g coverage is not so good here.

Flash is working, though it takes a few to load.
Watched a full clip of Southpark. And Played a few Addictinggames.com games :D

I just came from Drizzy's TouchFlo Rom, and this is really close to being as fast, can't wait for the optimize Build.

only have loading screen after coming out of Browser watching flash movie's ( Swap is at 32mb ). I might boost the swap up to 40 or 48 mb to see if that helps.

Over all, I'd say it's going to be a good rom build.

yes jacxhero is ccoked per jacccyrowski. Drizzy released the port for us to play with. Drizzy is getting his cooked now and ill be using jac till Drizzy get his one up, cuz i loves me Drizzy, and i cant wait for Champion on this build.

maps isnt finding my location, but i dont think ive ever had it find my location on the first try.

this rom is pretty speedy once you get past the 3-5 minutes of loading. it isnt quite as quick as the drizzy v3 builds, but it isnt optimized. it is a full hero rom, too.. so plenty of somewhat usless things are included (footprints).

no loads on the home screen with a couple of widgets. will try moving my cache and rebooting. hopefully that will make rosie a bit more responsive.

EDIT:

the longer i play around with it, the faster it gets. 7 screens of widgets and it was flying. no lag anymore. have yet to reboot with cache moved and setcpu running.


For those having trouble with maps, enable gps (obviously) , Turn on wifi before starting maps, or switch to 2g in wireless settings.

I used motorola 240x320 jad files.... If you choose Magic you get a apk not java.... the Java app will grab the download, and ask if you want to install it on / or /sdcard then go from there.. That is what makes it so nice... I ran snaptu last night and used it on twitter, and facebook... Still a little underinformed on the subject, but you should have seen me at the bar at 1:50am running around like a little boy on too much sugar...

Have you run the native j2me that Drizzy ported, and have you run the one one on the market? Because Drizzy was busy cooking that rom he let me test the j2me app and it rocks.... I have to admit that I NEVER messed with the market one, but the native app runs SO fast. As far a cooking the rom, someone had to unpack a rom that does not fit on a g1, then set it up for all the toys we take for granted. Not to mention breaking it up to app_s and app and then the funny part of flashing, moding, and flashing again countless times to make a functional rom... Shaquiel, if I may call you that, the rom came from ???? through Haykuro, but it would not be running on a g1 3 hours later without Drizzy. Please include a link to your hero rom, and I will be happy to test it out.

Dopod will be as fast or faster than his old speed demon build but its gona be much much more stable

Everything loaded with in about 3 mins and was good to go, Until my screen went black and would not turn back on so i used (Green button+Menu+Red button) to reset it and then after that it would hang on a black screen indefinatly after the g1 screen (it would not even go to the screen that says Hero and has the little androids. So what I did was Go into recovery and tried to flash the update.zip again and now when I hit "apply any zip from sd" I get....

"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0
p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(I/0 error)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:"

Is there anyone who might know how to fix this? Because I am pretty much stuck and can't move beyond the recovery screen... Thanks

lol I had that same problem earlier. I accidentally deleted my fat32 partition when in gparted in recovery and got that error so u might wanna check that out

Lol i just re-rooted my phone from scratch. Still tht same DAMN com.android.phone (force close)...my system just isnt creating the dalvik-cache....it stops half way
