Hi,

The main reason I wrote this small app is to modify the Xml layout files used in more recent HTC applications. HTC however defined different format of Xml layout files.

Currently, this is what it can do:

Change objects' location (attributes involved "x", "y", "loc")
Change objects' size (attributes involved "w", "h", "width", "height")
Perform object transformation using a multiplicand value
Handle sub objects declared in parent object's attribute when parent object is tranformed ("IconImgPos", TextPos")
Handle "BgImgBlock" attribute by animating the object
Handle "BgImgGrid" attribute by drawing the object correctly
Draw object with "IconImgMask" and "IconImage" attributes correctly
When changing the position of a parent object, the children object (can be seen in the TreeView) will also be moved. It does not however resize the object control when the parent object is resized. This is by design.

I'll be adding more format to this app when I have some free time.

History:

0.0.1

This app currently only support Xml layout files which defined the position attributes as "x", "y", "w", "h". This format is used in Album 3 and Connection Setup.

0.0.2

Added support for layout which contain attributes "img", "icon", "pic". This layout is used in FullScreenPlayer.
You can now drag and drop a xml file onto it to open.
If the "icon" contain different states, it will be animated, each will be displayed for 1 second before rotating to another state.

0.0.3b

Added support for layout which contain attributes "Pos", "bgimg", and some I can't remember.
Fix a bug in 0.0.3 where it handle the "Pos" attribute incorrectly.
Quick fix loading EzInput layout *New*

0.0.4f

Recoded most of the code.
XmlGui now only draws objects which are marked (checked). If the object is selected, a red border will be drawn on the selected object.
Text area will be drawn as blue hatched area.
Object with sub object will be resized correctly based on the object.
Added ability to move all marked objects.
Added ability to resize all marked objects. (see attached thumbnails)
Correctly interpret "BgImgGrid" attribute. (0.0.4a)
When adjusted single object's height and width, children object now do not resize. (0.0.4a)
Animate button "BgImgBlock" attribute. (0.0.4a)
Fix drawing text position in "Edit" object. (0.0.4b)
Fix moving inner object when object is moved (0.0.4b)
Fix drawing object with "BgImgGrid" attribute. (0.0.4c)
Fix issue resizing object without the "x" and "y" attributes. (0.0.4d)
Fix issue with Pos attribute where each point is not seperated by ",". (0.0.4e)
Seperate multiplicand for width and height. (0.0.4f)
Fix divide by zero bug. (0.0.4f)

0.0.4g (2 Nov 2009)

Fixed loading attributes with space in its value crashing XmlGui.
Fixed loading Pos and TextPos attributes with no value crashing XmlGui.

0.0.5 (5 Feb 2010)

Fixed saving problem when the attribute of the file is marked "read-only" and/or "system".
Selection of selected item in TreeView stays after TreeView lost focus.
Added new feature to automatic relocate objects.

In "Single-Object Properties" section, clicking on the green left arrow will apply the suggested value for that field. Clicking the "Apply" button applies all the suggested values.
In "Multi-Object Move" section, clicking the "Auto Relocate" button will apply the above feature to all selected objects.

Bug: If clicking "Auto Relocate" mess things up, try highlighting "root" before clicking it.

0.0.5.1 (6 Feb 2010)

Added 1 level "Undo" feature. This is a rough implementation, so after pressing undo button, the TreeView would lost its selection.

0.0.5.2 (15 June 2010)

Fixed crash caused by negative value.

Note:

XmlGui requires .NET Framework 3.5.
If XmlGui can't open the xml file, edit it with any text editor and remove the first line. Save and reopen in XmlGui.
Please be aware that HTC does not resize all images according to the size stated in the xml file. Take for example the HTCFramework package. The htccalendar_bg_green.png is resized in the calendar, but is not resize when you select a day. The background and the buttons (Set and Cancel) are also not resized. So, the only way around this is also to resize (or crop) the images yourself.

Contribution:
I'm very grateful for the donation given. Thank you very much. It would encourage me to add more new automate features to it too.

Yes. Just modify the .xml files in the packages and the apps are resized correctly. Of course if you want to maintain the aspect ratio of the background (if used), you'll need to crop it first (by cutting some part away) using any imaging software you prefer. Btw, I've already ported Connection Setup layout to VGA here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4385330&postcount=1926)

To see what other HTC apps that uses xml, just search for the xml files in your packages. If they are there, then it uses the xml files as layout. The hard part is, there are different format available. I'm thinking of finding all the different format used and put them in the XmlGui.

Wow, nice to know that Leo New Contact Card uses xml for its layout. Can you post the package for it? I have slow connection, so prefer not to download the whole Leo packages.

Thanks in advance.

XmlGui 0.0.3 should be able to handle it now. Since you didn't post the whole package, I can't test whether it loaded all the images correctly... but it should.

Thanks.

Attached is the resized xml to VGA for it.

I've downloaded Leo packages and tried the New Contact Card. Ported it to VGA but so sad that Leo packages seems to support only portrait. No landscape. Further more, it uses the HTCFramework for GUI and it is damn slow.

Sorry to say that it can't. Unless HTC miraculously uses Xml as layout for all its apps (including phone canvas). :)

Anyway, I see that I might be able to modify it to open .cpr files too. Just need to research first.

very handy because in newer leo and Qilin roms, HTC has converted everything to XML, so all resizing is done that way, so that will be very nice.

something that might be very handy in a program like this, is a VGA button, where it will take the vales and multiply by 0.8, and then it would be an automatic, maybe even do check boxes, to pick the number of boxes you wanted, so say you wanted just 2 or 3, and convert those 2 by 0.8, this would really speed everything up has well

keep up the good work with everything, this has a lot of potential here.

Would be best if you could upload the xml file, or the whole package.

Will do that when I get all the base thing up first. Newer layout seems has so many attributes for each item. Just need some time to study them.

Hey guys sorry for the dumb question.

Can this be used for M2D? (I am running the new ver 2 from the HTC Hero)

I tried to load the HTChomesettings.xml from it but I just get a green screen and a jumble of text in the top corner.

This is the original home screen (all I am trying to do is move the clock down the screen a bit)

Ah, I never tried XmlGui with xml files from Manila itself. It might be that the xml in Manila has different format. I'll try looking into it.

EDIT: I tried looking into the xml files in Manila and they are not the actual layout file.

That's probably why then.

I had a play around the other day editing the file manualy but I could only get the focus area to move not any of the graphics.

Does that mean that the graphic layout is in another file?

Ok, sorry for the mistake. I was trying to simplify thing and thought that all objects should have "x" and "y" attributes. Seems like I thought wrong. The problem is fixed with XmlGui 0.0.4d.

Thanks for the report.

Note to self: I found that the object label in the "Canvas" is blocking the view, especially when working with QVGA. Do you think I should remove the label?

I will get some XML together and send them your way later.

I cant share the entire rom at this time for obvious reasons, but here is every XML from that rom, take a look at the values inside there, and make sure all values are added in there. and then your tool should be able complete.

PS- these files are quite a bit newer then yours.

I'm trying to move the new Date Picker and XmlGui can't open it. The new Date Picker is really cool looking, and I'd like to reposition it so that it fits correctly on my VGA screen. Can you help?

It's currently usable, but not perfect (as can be seen in the below screenshot). (I believe) there are two XML files responsible for this, and I have attached them in a zip file (one's actually a Time Picker, but neither will open).

EDIT: Apparently my problem is that the version number at the top of the files is 1.0.1. I'll try changing it to 1.0 and see if that helps.

EDIT 2: SUCCESS!! Updated screenshot is attached. I think I might move it up a bit more. This program is an AWESOME tool.

How did you get that working? I'm currently trying to get that to show as well I can edit it but will not show on my rom.

I've ported it to VGA but has not tested it since I cooked my rom without using Leo latest NewContactCard. I noticed that there are some missing background image (comparing to the one I've posted in post #2). These images are in the xml files but images are missing from the package. Then the AfeXmlTimePickerEx and AfeXmlDatePickerEx layout is incorrect in landscape.

Note: I used Microsoft Xml parser and it can't parse Xml which does not follow the Xml standard. It suppose to show some error, but I think my error handling code does not display the message. I'll look into it. At least when error is displayed, we know what is wrong with the Xml.

Btw, I also found a new bug. If you move any objects, making their x and y to be a negative value, the program would crash.

Lastly, any suggestions to make the tool better are always welcomed. :)

For HTCFramework to work, you need app that uses it. The app that uses the time and date controls from this framework is New_Contact_Card. EzInput 2.1 Setting also use this framework.

Thanks for the reply I have tried cooking both of those in without any luck, is there any other requirements? I'm running wm6.1 21054 on a touch pro.

You can only use the Leo New Contact Card if you're using Manila3D 2.1. Open the contact from Manila3D 2.1.

Got it working and ported the new one over, the only problem I have is that the new contact cards your port and my newer version are a little buggy or slow to scroll, I wanted to know if this is just buildwide due to the vga res or if it is only due to wm 6.1 since I'm assuming the others have 6.5 because they come with htc scroll 2+

So far HTCFramework is a little slow. So, it is a little skippy when scrolling. To add to the problem, Leo's New Contact Card does not support landscape, so you can't scroll properly in landscape, but if your device orientation is already in landscape before opening the New Contact Card, it will scroll properly (of course when you change it back to portrait, it will have the same effect as from portrait to landscape when the New Contact Card is already opened).

System.Xml.XmlException: 'FriendlyName' is a duplicate attribute name. Line 52, position 45.

From the exception, I can see that the problem is caused by "FriendlyName" been used multiple times in a xml tag. Try editing the xml file with a text editor and remove the duplicate.

Sure!! I'll post them when I get them just right there's a good chunk that auto size too!

I was able to open the new album up and re-size everything however it didn't seem to work. I know Capt TB posted a early version of this album and said he thought it only worked on wm 6.5 can anyone confirm that? I can get it to launch in wm 6.1 21054 but then it closes when it tries to load the thumbnails.

Here is a list of packs that I did not need to port over, didn't go through all of them yet but this is what I got. But no more ugly windows skinned bare-bone apps most are now covered up by htc :3

Hi,

If I remembered correctly, I was able to run Leo's Album on my Touch Pro. The only problem I'm having is that the sliding orientation would not change when I rotate the device. Maybe because I was using SensorSDK 3 at that time. However, if I use Tachi's Album (with SensorSDK 3), the sliding orientation would change when I rotate the device. So I've reverted back to Tachi's Album.

Btw, I've tried Leo's SensorSDK 4 and it causes problem with camera and Tachi's Album. When I rotate the device, camera would blank itself and I need to tap the screen to have the screen refreshed. Same with Tachi's Album. I know I can exclude both camera and album from SensorSDK 4 (using registry edit), but if I do that, photo's taken by camera would not be in the correct orientation anymore and Tachi's Album sliding orientation would not change. Sigh...

Would you mind sharing your le album with me? As I said I can get it to start but then it closes soon after, I am also having the same problem with the new connection setup. It starts and I see it for a second then it closes.

I'm including the CS packs so you can take a look at them, these are the unported ones so you can see it as a fresh new start, just can't seem to get it to work. I'll be uploading those other packs mentioned tomorrow since I was stuck at the hospital last night I didn't upload anything @_@.

A ha... the one I've tested on is Album_3_2_19163529_0, which is not the latest built and the only thing that I've changed is the xml files.

Now I'm starting to doubt myself whether I have had it working or not... but I do remember the reason why I revert back to older version is because of the sliding orientation not working. Anyway, attached are the xmls

ConnectionSetup_3_1_19192629_00 from LEO package :

OEM (http://www.4shared.com/file/136577639/7876445/HTC_LEO_ConnectionSetup_VGA_3_1_19192629_00.html)

CAB (http://www.4shared.com/file/136577638/708054d3/ConnectionSetup_3_1_19192629_00_VGA.html)

Note : Only portrait resized, Landscape not working, and only tested on 6.5 (21857 (old build I know :D) )

Note2 : Tested from cab file, but as it was built from OEM, I assume OEM are working too :D

Note3 : This is my first resized app, so it may be buggy, but as I tested it, it seems to work well :D

Wow, thanks, currently building a rom with them, I'll report tomorrow if I see something wrong ;)

By the way, I wonder if HTCMessaging app can run in VGA, as it has a "htcMsgBoxImageResizerVGA.xml" in it :rolleyes: I didn't included it in my build, but it will be in the next one :D

edit : Also check the OEM I posted this morning, they seems to be newer than the one you have (Comm Manager is 2_9_K_0, while yours is 2_9_D_0 for example) (CM need to be resized ?). Btw, not very important I guess :D

Nope doesnt need to be resized at all its all scorllable
abnout 60% of the packs are scrollable and dont need much porting if any

You can turn Bluetooth on and off with the Leo Comm Manager packages? Every time I tried to use them, I get the "Can't turn on Bluetooth" error.

Yes, I can turn on/off Bluetooth without problems.

Btw, I'm not able to launch HTC_Messaging_Client. Nothing happens :(
Any idea about that ? I think I should have missed a package dependency, but I don't know which one :rolleyes:

Little bug for Comm Manager : When trying to enter ConnectionData settings in CM, it opens Bluetooth settings :(

Remove or comment "BluetoothPlatformType"=dword:00000000 in your Comm manager package and your problem is solved. :)

For end users :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager]
"BluetoothPlatformType"=dword:00000000

Removed this dword entry. :)

Did you include Contact Picker? I noticed the one from the latest Leo OEM doesn't work, but both the Contact Picker & Messaging Client from the previous 1919 Leo ROM work correctly :)

Thanks for this. I'll try it next ROM. Have you seen the issue with Wifi where, if you press the button in Comm Manager (not the toggle), if Wifi isn't on, it'll automatically turn on Wifi and start searching for networks? But then, if you go back to the Comm Manager, the toggle hasn't switched to "ON"? I've seen this behavior with all of the new Comm Managers & Wi-Fi Wizards.

That wifi problem is most likely due to the wlan device id key if you edit that out on a cab it will be universal and can be used on any device :D if your cooking it in just replace it with your devices wlan id key :3

Got it. I didn't even notice that. Thanks!

EDIT: Have you gotten the Toggle buttons to work properly in landscape? I still can't get that working (sorry for hijacking the thread, by the way - I should probably move these posts over to the Comm Manager thread).

No, I forgot to include Contact Picker :rolleyes: I'll try as soon as I get back to home :D

Also, I can't get Settings Improvements working, just like HTC Messaging, it's do nothing when launching, so it should also be package related :rolleyes:

Anyone managed to get it working ?

Edit : Also few bugs I noticed for ported packages :

- NewContactCard: Clicking "More" brings you to Manila contacts
- HTCFramework : The bottom of the date picker is not visible, so it's impossible to validate the date choosen :(

setting improvements I had working with the comm manager pretty much it is required by things like cm phone and all that, it will also change the settings tab in manila 2.5 and 2.6

As far as the picker I can upload mine when I get home I moved it so you can select :D

Its because DeviceName in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN.

Try this :

"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\TNETW12511"

Actually, I changed that part already. And the toggle still doesn't refresh correctly. I thought it was that the first part of the Device Name doesn't match the Notification key in Wi-Fi Wizard[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER \{DDBD3B44-80B0-4B24-9DC4-839FEA6E559E}]But I changed that and it still behaves the same.

I'm not sure if you understand the problem, so please, try these steps with yours:

Make sure Wi-Fi is off. Press the "Wi-Fi" button in Comm Manager (not the toggle), which will automatically turn on Wi-Fi and begin to search for networks. Then press the "Back" soft key and see if the toggle in Comm Manager still shows Wi-Fi as off.

I just tried a quick test with the wifi and it works with my tp, the only problem is the placement of some of the add ons is misplaced, so I'll look into a bit more.

As far as some packs I had working on my tp from a slightly older leo rom for some reason the same packs from this new one will not show properly now.

I didn't include a newer HTCSettings (but I have a version included in my ROM). I was actually thinking it might have something to do with not including a newer WiFi Settings. But the toggle works okay using an older Comm Manager (2_9_5_0)/Wi-Fi Wizard (1_7_0_20) combination. OK, I managed to get HTC_Messaging_Client working, but I have 2 issues :

- I can go to "All Messages" etc.. but I can't read any SMS. It crash Manila. (Yoz R1.5), by reading it within manila itself, or using the Messaging app :confused: (Client from the old LEO dump, as other depends packages (ContactPicker, ContactUtility, ContactBirthday), and I also included RessourceProxy and SharedRessources

- For every SMS I send, there is " - GSM " and the end of the SMS. Do you have also this issue ?

Sounds like you forgot Contact Utility, or Shared Modules. You don't need HTC Birthday for the Messaging Client to work. Also, I have resized HTC Framework (actually combined with programatix's), with a fully working Date Picker. I think he posted one earlier that was fine, actually. The "- GSM" can be removed in the app.reg file.

Hi mrhayami,

Regarding Comm_Manager in landscape where the button is not working, I've consulted princeasi and he mentioned that the image files play a major role and need to be resized. I'm hoping that you could get it working :D

As far as I know, it might be one or all of these files because if I cooked in any theme files and place his Comm_Manager later on, it works in landscape but if I do it the other way round, then it won't work.

Nope, not working from Manila here. I did finally get MMS working, though, which is cool :D.

EDIT: On AT&T, this reg should get MMS working in the new Messaging Client (note that this will replace the "SampleMMSC" profile):[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\MMS\Profiles\0 00]

"Lock"=dword:00000000
"ConnectionType"=dword:00000002
"SendLimit"=dword:0000012CI think the send limit is set as 300K, but you can up that to 600K if you'd like (I don't know if the network will support it, though).

cool, I'm a little more worried about the regular messaging Q_Q if that worked it would totally be worth cooking in. Also in the vga 2.5 ports by sunm and multim it looks like they ported a few of these already to include in their beta roms, the power settings was working in the rom they made while mine worked but could not adjust the backlight.

Edit: as witht he comm manager landscape mode that makes perfect sense because it is looking for a 800 wide screen, so the image button is longer and in out case "covers" if you will our toggle switch. I'm resizing now I'll let you guys know how it goes. Also the newer comm manager is up and running just have to tweak it a little more to make it work correctly.

BTW I have been looking around some ppl say the leo is to be launched this month? Any one heard anything if so this may be the first unlocked phone I buy D: I'm sick of at_t's lack of new phones.

Alrighty I did some tests and it appears for the comm manager all you need is to resize these images, tried with my old version since that is what I have cooked in the 9.2d not the 9.2k but same should apply...

It wouldn't be contact picker it would be contact utility engine which would cause the crash because manila 2.1 does not play nice with it, you can use the new contact card and framework as well as the messaging client if you get it working correctly and should work with 2.1

I guess it's ContactPicker, as it's seems the most revealant of this problem, but maybe one of you already had the same problem and solved it ? :D

It wouldn't be contact picker it would be contact utility engine which would cause the crash because manila 2.1 does not play nice with it, you can use the new contact card and framework as well as the messaging client if you get it working correctly and should work with 2.1

mrhayami is correct about Contact Utility. If you use Leo's Contact Utility, it'll crash Manila 2.1. You'll have to stick with Contact Utility which come with Manial 2.1.

If you use latest Leo rom New Contact Card, you can't open native contact by tapping the "More" button. But if I remember correctly, previous Leo New Contact Card works properly.

Alrighty I did some tests and it appears for the comm manager all you need is to resize these images, tried with my old version since that is what I have cooked in the 9.2d not the 9.2k but same should apply...

HTCCOMMMGR_L_Line
HTCCOMMMGR_L_Title
L_bg
L_bg_2
L_Button_Down
L_Button_Focus

Do not forget to make the images the same dpi as the originals.

Fixed the landscape but still waiting impatiently for your OEM release. :)

EDIT: Downloaded the your OEM from the post where you've posted the cab. Wow, that would be a lot of packages to add in.

Thanks for the update. I'm wondering where Sun_Dream gets hold on the DLLs. They are the same build from the latest Leo rom which is 1919 but different revision I think. The one I have is 19192728 and the one in the cab is a mixture of 19192032 and 19193427.

very handy because in newer leo and Qilin roms, HTC has converted everything to XML, so all resizing is done that way, so that will be very nice.

something that might be very handy in a program like this, is a VGA button, where it will take the vales and multiply by 0.8, and then it would be an automatic, maybe even do check boxes, to pick the number of boxes you wanted, so say you wanted just 2 or 3, and convert those 2 by 0.8, this would really speed everything up has well

keep up the good work with everything, this has a lot of potential here.

So we could convert the phonecanvas from the Leo to QVGA then?

edit: Does this also edit the size of the font and text margins?

Well, the reason why we can't use Messaging Client with M2.1 is because Messaging Client can only be used with M2.5/2.6 or Tachi M2.0. So wait for the M2.5 port.

I'm not really sure that Messaging_Client is related to Manila2.5.

With the Tachi ones :

Sending msg by the app --> OK
Sending msg by Manila --> Not OK, but if you then go to HTC_Messaging and hit "send", it ask you if you want to push your messages, and then, it send the message typed within TF3D2.

I guess it's something related to the registry entries, but I don't really know which one, I'm trying to deal with it right now, I'll report back if I find something ;)

I haven't had problems with the contact picker at all however the newer msg client needs the manila 2.5 the older tachi version requires 2.0, as for the registry capt tb posted a mms reg fix so it is quite possible it is a reg since I did find tmobile sms port inside the reg.

You could use a mod so the SMS tab opens default Windows messaging, which would open the new HTC Messaging Client :) I will attatch mine here.
I am still yet to send MMS. I am trying on LEO version next.
I now need to use a newer album, but I am so satisfied with 2.5 w/social networking that I am sad to move on. I have tried 3.2 w/Social Networking, but I have some serious issues. Can anyone help out with a version of Album w/Social Networking and is working. Thanks, I'll try your fix tonight, but the only problem remaining with the Tachi Messaging is that when replying to an sms throught Manila, the sms won't be sent until you go to htc_messaging and then click "send" button again to push messages.

If I understand what you said, your patch seems to bring us to HTC_messaging instead of getting the Manila sms interface ? If it's so, it's nice until we are able to find a good fix :D :rolleyes:

Yes, personnally I deleted the whole key (MsgFlags), but I think I forgot to soft-reset, as now it's working :rolleyes:

I didn't tried MMS as I don't use this feature, but I'll try to take a look @ it...

hmm.. any chance you can post your working version? I have tried the reg entries posted by Cap'n on Tachi and LEO versions, but cant send a MMS. Also noticed that media toolkit is required for MMS(I dont use it currently because I prefer 2.5 Album)

How do you get Text selection to work? Is there a menu somewhere, or ...
Does anyone know what Clear Storage should look like? Is there supposed to be all that text on bottom bar? Can someone tell me what they say? I am using newer MS ui, so the text is cut-off a few letters into it. Dont want to clear mt sd card by mistake :o

Will it connect to Internet while you try to send MMS? If not, I know the solution.

If you're using the old Album, I'll bet you're not using the newer Full Screen Player, which is also necessary for MMS.

I tried cooking in Album 3.2, but same results(and I have been using Full_Screen_Player_1_7_19164025_00). It says sending, then I get error "Message could not be sent". I also had a problem where if I had a long threaded message it would merge all of the messages together. I gave up for a little while, but I'll give it another try via cab until I get it right. Does the function "Traditional Mode" under menu work for anyone? I thought it would show MS messaging, but it didnt do anything at all. Wonder when HTC will build a program to take over E-mail messaging as well?

NP if you need help you know where to find us all. Kidu any news on the message client? I cannot get the newest one working at all once cooked in for some reason only the older packs other than 1.24 as far as the patch that was posted that should do the trick, that is what I was asking capt and you earlier as a workaround so it should work just fine since it is a redirect to the client isntead of the contact utility.

There's a bug in XmlGui when opening xml file by using drag-and-drop method. It would not display the error message. Just keep quiet. If you open it by using File->Open, then error message would be displayed. Normally error message would tell us what is wrong with the xml file. Sometimes HTC doesn't use standard xml tag which causes the loading to fail (mainly because I'm using Microsoft XML reader).

Well, I don't know what I did exactly, but now I got HTC Messaging from Tachi Fully working, even in the TF3D2 tab, without the trick that get you to the HTCMSG.

The only thing remaining, is that I use PIMbackup to restore my contacts/sms, but once I get into the HTCMSG, all my sms seems to be erased (I keep my contacts, and if I don't go to HTCMSG, my SMS are present in the TF3D2 tab)...

I didn't had the time to work on the newer package, but I'll try this weekend.

As I remember, the only things I updated was the DLL from HTC Framework and SharedResources, provided as a fix for Resco Explorer, earlier in this thread. (I converted them to modules, as they were provided recmoded).

I'll check tonight to see if I did some others changes, and post my PackageList if you want.

Cheers ;)

Yes the messaging client does but does not need to be ported I believe should resize auto like previous versions, I haven't tried any of them yet because I have injured my neck and cannot sit too long at a computer. Perhaps, but I've learned something that suggests that as newer Leo packages emerge, they will be less compatible with our devices. For example, the newest Album versions do not work at all, because they require Leo specific multi-touch drivers :(.

@ Captain

Well I'll give the messaging client a shot anyway, I was able to get the 1.24 album running but it went weird on me when viewing a image; but I believe you are correct with the new album because of the iphone like zoom gesture. As far as the rest of the packs I've been able to use a good majority of them other than the manila based ones. Also in your older album 3.2 pack you didn't have some of the images resized for the slide show and such but once resized there and resized in the xml it worked. As far as the hard coding I'll see if maybe there is a possibility of hex editing although you probably already tried that.

What do you mean by "not usable"? I used the package as posted and it worked first try, but as I said before I couldnt get the attatchment menu to show correctly(invisible). I do have a lot of the other LEO packages cooked in, but I dont think Messaging Client should have dependencies. Are you maybe cooking for another language? I know there are some specific 0409 files.

Yes, I have included it, what else should I include? Did you get the new Leo Messaging Client working?

I downloaded it and looked at the registry file, and was disappointed to find there is nothing new in it. But I don't have a chance to cook it in. So can you report the differences between this one and the old one? Thanks!

Failure

I'm cooking with WM6.5.1 23060 and Text\MMS has complete left my list of accounts. I can't even get anything opened by going straight to the exe's.

I also got these two txt files in my main dir that I've never seen before. Don't even know what they mean. I'm using:

Contact_Picker_1_0_19193328_00 (since it's a possible dependency)
HTCMessaging_Client_1_0_19201230_00

If anyone can help, get back at me.

EDIT: Here's MessagingService.txt - http://www.zshare.net/download/66854356c591083b/

I did this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\Messaging\MsgF lags]
"CDMA"=""
"CDMASIM"=""
"GSM"=""
"GSMSIM"=""
"DefaultLine"=""

Did you get MMS working?
Hey, jmckeejr - perhaps the above edit you made is why MMS isn't working for you? I think the "DefaultLine" key needs to be populated. This is what mine says:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\Messaging\MsgF lags]
"CDMA"=""
"CDMASIM"=""
"GSM"=""
"GSMSIM"=""
"DefaultLine"="GSM"Give it a try.

Alright finally had a chance to look into the new packs, pretty much everything that worked in the last build works in this one and the messaging client still does not like to work....since I believe 1.24, 1.22 worked.
Any way I'm working on the newer packages pretty much the same ones and will be releasing more...too bad its a no go on the messaging client.

One more question about the album; did you try hex editing for the main viewport?

I have no idea how to hex-edit anything. Others more experienced than me (indagroove, Jmz, conflipper) have pretty much stated they've tried & been unable to get it working right.

hmm....well time for me to do some brushing up, because I see things like "sendicon..a0098qqwe...so my theory is that it states the object and then the hex is the info of the size or position perhaps.

Thanks for this great tool.

I have successfully ported the Leo Date and Time picker to QVGA (still had to manually edit some of the XML (would be good if all could be done with this great utility) but it works perfectly :)

May I know which part of the XML that need to be done manually? Maybe I can try to automate that. Anyway, if I remember correctly when porting to VGA, I do not need to do anything manually on the XML but I need to resize/crop some images as HTC does not always resize the images as stated in the XML.

When porting to QVGA the fonts need to be halved - I can see the items, but can't alter them within the program.

Also, when you resize I select the scene and set the width and height percentages and it resizes okay - but it doesn't change the margin (if any) and with the date and time picker it also has HitTExpan. In the Power 3.3 when I ported it there was also TextPos to edit.

So if I can get the margins, fonts, TextPos and hitTExpan changed in the program also all would be done perfectly (except the graphics as you mentioned :))

Just a noob question - if I didn't edit the graphics, should the system attempt to resize them or should I always edit the graphics as well? With WVGA to QVGA portrait I would use .5 for width and .4 for height - both to the XML and the graphics - but if I don't have to do all the graphics, it would make life easier :)

Thanks

If I remember correctly, the TextPos suppose to be automatically resized (current version). For all the mentioned items, I'll try to implement them.

Regarding the images, either HTC has not finish coding them correctly or they have bad programmers. Some component will be resized/cropped according to the XML attributes, some don't. For example in the Date Picker (HTC Framework). For the background of each date, it will be resized correctly according to the XML attribute, but if you tap on any date and a highlight is shown, the highlight is not resized. That is one example and I found several of such problem. So my advice is to first test out with the ported XML first. Then find out which images need to be resized by testing it on your device. This way you sometimes do not need to resize every images. But of course, it would be safer to just resize everything. :)

Alright so I was fiddling around making a new rom just for the hell of it, added the htc sense 2.1 found in pack 1.26 not the manila 2.5 which is also in there and it works...just the bottom is cut off by about 100 pixels which is just the slider bar...and guess what :D the messaging client works! Along with all the other stuff we could not get to work. So for now I'm testing it out and maybe I can learn how to decompile and possibly port this.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I've been using that Manila version for a few weeks now, but I haven't tried the newest Messaging Client (mostly because of my previous frustration with it). yozgatg is already working on porting that version of Manila, however there's the issue of the SMS in the Manila interface being out of order that's holding up the process. Perhaps I can cab up the Messaging Client and install it to see if it works on mine as well.

yup....it is strange so it will work with manila 2.5 and 2.1 sense...I know he is porting it but just for giggle I would like to try as well for myself do you know of any documentation that would be good for me to read so I understand lua or whatever I need to do? I know nothing about porting Manila. Perhaps you should PM yozgatg, since it appears that he won't be porting the new HTC Sense Manila 2.1 version after all, because of the SMS threading order issue :(. I guess I'm stuck using a WVGA Manila on my device.

I'll post some packs I've already tested instead of releasing them all at once so we are gonna be looking at the cm-comm manager and probably usb to pc, connection setup and a few others that I have tested. So I've been using the XmlGui tool (excellent!) in an exercise to try resizing the newest EzInput. It's very peculiar. I've read that TextPos & some images do move but not all and I can attest to that. My landscape view is still stretched out to WVGA despite editing all of the landscape attributes down from 800 to 640 and editing X positions to within the frame. I guess resizing the images will always be the second line of defense after XML editing.

Just my findings.
