Welcome to the Discussion and Development Lounge for Wing Linux (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=222615&d=1251737343
Click here (http://qik.com/video/2775388) to view the booting of android on HTC Touch Elfin during the HTC Hero Launch (http://jeremygohblog.com/2009/09/06/htc-hero-launch/) event in Singapore with the CodeAndroid.org (http://CodeAndroid.org/) team.
- Running of 0.4pre3 (Updating that soon)
In Short, this project is about porting Google's Android (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system)) OS (Which is running under Linux) into our devices.
This project is still in BETA, and there are many features not available yet.
We believe that we will move from strength to strength.

This thread is originated from the Linwizard, Now What? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4439572#post4439572) thread. As we found a new goal, we decided a new page is necessary.

--

How this works?
Windows Mobile runs on your concurrent phone, so when Android is being boot up on the device, it will actually 'kick off' the RAM working concurrently on Windows Mobile and use the entire RAM for linux itself.
After soft-reseting, everything will go back to normal.

0.4.2 Released!

How to get started with Wing Linux?
- Backup your SD Card and Phone before doing anything!
We have a few cases with wiped out data, better do it, guys!
1) Go to the Wing Linux's Website (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki)
2) Get Wing Linux's 0.4.2 (here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/wing-linux/files/Wing%20Linux/0.4.2/cabs/wing-linux-0.4.2-rootfs.cab/download))
3) Get our very own HTC Elf/Elfin Cab (http://sourceforge.net/projects/wing-linux/files/Wing%20Linux/0.4.2/cabs/wing-linux-0.4.2-elf.cab/download) (Dont Worry, what you press on the phone will be what you get!)
4) Install both Wing Linux 0.4.2 cab and the Elf cab in your storage card (So make sure you have at least 512mb free storage space in your memory card)

How to get Google Android started?
1) After installing the cab as mentioned above, go to programs, and start Wing Linux
2) Press run!
3) After seeing 20000++ lines of code, you will reach an install screen (which is blue in colour)
4) You will take sometime there as our phones do not have a physical keyboard. So wait for it to install.
5) After that, the calibration utility will start, make sure you tap the right corners of the screen (The calibration process is only ONCE, so once you click the wrong corners, good luck, we need more steps to get it back working!)
6) Android will start loading and you are ready to get blasted!

QNA

Q: Which Device Can Run This?
A: A GSM HTC Touch / It works for both Elf and Elfin (Yay!)
If you use a CDMA version of HTC Touch, please go to your Vogue forum.

Q: Is my phone Elf or Elfin?
A: Go to Start > Settings > System > Device Information > Hardware tab, if the 'RAM size' shows 64MB it's an Elf, if it shows 128MB for RAM and 256MB for Flash then it's the Elfin. (This doesn't matter as Wing Linux is able to run on both, just added this question for reference only)

Q: How big is this thing?
A: It is about 300mb (Estimated), as the image is already 250mb.

Q: My phone cant connect to the network
A: Please switch off the Sim Password on your phone using Windows Mobile first before coming into Android.

Q: How to get Data (GPRS) working on your device
A: Go to your settings menu in Android and change your APN options, you can get that from your carrier.

Q: How to re-calibrate the screen?
A: Go to storage card, than go this folder called 'linux', than open default.txt. Look for the line that says "set CMDLINE", add "reset_ts" to it.
Remember to remove that once you're satisfied with the calibration.
(If Microsoft Word asks you to save it in their format, always say no)

Q: If I am using the Herald Cab and running on the outdated 0.4pre3, how can I get the correct key mappings?
A: See here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4539762&postcount=111)

Q: I have some questions about Android
A: Post it here and I should be able to respond as I am using an Android phone at the moment.

Q: I have more questions ...
A: Post it here and someone kind will be able to respond. Do not PM me. Thanks :D

Q: I wish the hang out and chat about Wing Linux on the net in real time.
A: Join us on the IRC: #wing-linux on freenode.org

ok so i have been following this:
2) Rename the downloaded file to zImage and copy it to /Storage Card/linux
3) Modify your default.txt to have an MTYPE of 2372
4) Delete your rootfs.img file to force the installer to re-run (and to clean away any custom qwerty.kl files you may have)
5) Boot into Wing Linux and let the installer run
6) Your Key Mappings is up to date and you do not need to modify it anymore!

i get into android but keys arent mapped...
any clue?

thanks in advance!

Tried to install but it seems to be hanging in an htcharald login: screen where nothing happens. When i push some buttons some letters appear but there is no key to accept apparently. Using ELF for this. Also there are multiple cabs in the Wing Linux package, one big one and a couple of smaller ones that all seem to be the same thing (if you install them they will keep telling you that they will uninstall the old version before installing.)

Any tips?

t0nil0
31st August 2009, 09:44 PM
instal first the big cab and then th e herlad one...
after that donload the zimge-elf and change its name to overwritte the original...
then you have reach as far as me... you can run android, just wait
BECAUSE THE FIST LOADING IS AS SLOW AS BALLS...

good luck!

it looks great, many thx
To Hordo:
I installed wing-linux-0.4pre3-rootfs.cab and then only wing-linux-0.4pre3-herald.cab from second link.
Now copy zImage for functional keyboard and Go testing.
Many THX

no, because the sound is not working yet, and it might be a long time before it works.

Hey does anyone knows how to make the phone vibrate? I know we haven't got sound working yet but how about it to vibrate? :P

no, vibration is not working either.

can this be reversible? after i install this can i go back to wm easily or flash again a new wm OS?

you dont lose your wm by doing this. android must be started from within wm, so u can get ride of it by just deleting the folder.
a soft-reset on the phone will take u back to wm.

First of all Thanks a ton, for your post. I was eager to try Andriod OS. I followed your given steps and successfully was able to run Andriod but I am facing some problems, hope you can help. First problem is that my SIM does not have password, but still it says NO NETWORK (didn't remember exact error message), therefore cannot make any calls. Another problem is that when I press the end call button (the RED one) it keeps on showing a verbose view and some scrolling text after every few seconds. Whats the problem and how to rectify it?

Thanks a lot.

4 wing-linux-0.4pre3-rootfs.cab 36.8 MiB
5 wing-linux-0.4pre3-wizard.cab 1.6 KiB

installing #5, then #2 it says "the previous version of Wing-Linux - Board Support will be removed before the new one is installed." and when i click OK, it install but i dont see Wing- linux on programs... is this correct? im getting 1.6kb??????

You're wrong on the cabs to install:

-FIRST install rootfs.cab
-THEN herald.cab,

it's said in the tutorial on first post...

And it won't be in programs, for me, I installed it on storage card, and I now have a folder directly on storage card called "linux"

Excellent thread.. I request everyone to read the first post (which is clear and concise) before asking questions.

If some one can translate and add to the first post, in languages other than English, I think it'll benefit quite a few non-English speaking users. As for my language skills, My Italian is worse than my German (which is non-existent) :p.. So I'll give it a miss.

How this works?
The concept behind this is simple.
It uses a software called Linwizard (Haret) inside Windows Mobile to boot Android up. (Something like VMWare / Parallels / VirtualBox )
--

How to get started with Wing Linux?
1) Go to the Wing Linux's Website (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki)
2) Get Wing Linux's 0.4Pre3 (here (https://sourceforge.net/projects/wing-linux/files/Wing%20Linux%20Development/0.4pre3/cabs/wing-linux-0.4pre3-rootfs.cab/download)) (Link Fixed)
3) Get the HTC Herald Cab (http://sourceforge.net/projects/wing-linux/files/Wing%20Linux%20Development/0.4pre3/cabs/wing-linux-0.4pre3-herald.cab/download) (I know, we are using an Elf, but this Herald Cab seems to be the most compatible with our device for now. There will be a new one coming up :D)
4) Install both Wing Linux 0.4Pre3 cab and the Herald cab in your storage card (So make sure you have at least 512mb of storage space in your memory card)

How to get Google Android started?
1) After installing the cab as mentioned above, go to programs, and start Wing Linux

6) Android will start loading and you are ready to get blasted!

How to get the correct key mappings on the phone?
- After setting up the whole Google Android system, you may find that some buttons do not work / or some does not correspond.
To solve this issue:

1) Go to this site (http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/198699/linux_wing/zImage-elf) and download the file.

What is not working yet?
- Camera
- Sound
- Wireless
- Bluetooth
- Standby Mode
- "Power Off" phone.

From the status of this project, you CAN use this phone for ..
- Surfing GPRS (Needs some setting up to do)
- SMS
- Calender
- Contacts

Questo thread è nato dalla discussione Linwizard, Now What? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4439572#post4439572). E, avendo raggiunto nuovi traguardi, abbiamo ritenuto necessario creare questa pagina.

Versione Guida: 2.5.2
--

Come funziona?

Come far partire Google Android?

Tasto verde - Indietro
Tasto rosso - Fine chiamata
Tasto centrale (joystick) - Menù
Su (joystick) - Su
Giù (joystick) - Giù
Sinistra (joystick) - Sinistra
Destra (joystick) - Destra
Fotocamera - Indietro
Volume su - Alza volume
Volume giù - Abbassa volume

Come copiare file / installare applicazioni in Android sotto Windows
IP: 10.100.0.2
Mask: 255.255.0.0
2) Scarica WinSCP (http://winscp.net/)
3) Installalo :D
4) Usa le seguenti impostazioni all'interno di WinSCP:
- Server: 10.100.0.1
- Username: root
- Password: wing
5) Per installare Google Android Apps
- Scarica l'applicazione ;)
6) Metti i file .apks nella cartella /system/app/directory usando WinSCP
- (es: scp xxx.apk root@10.100.0.1:/system/data/)
7) Fatto! Comparirà nella lista delle applicazioni!

Cosa non funziona ancora?
- Fotocamera
- Audio
- Wifi
- Bluetooth
- Modalità Standby
- Spegnimento del dispositivo

Ora come ora, con Google Android puoi ..
- Navigare via GPRS (Necessario modificare alcune impostazioni)
- Inviare e ricevere SMS
- Utilizzare il Calendario
- Gestire i Contatti

Domande e risposte

Great work! Works fine on my Elf :)

Maybe something for the FAQ:

Q: How to change language?
A: Go to Settings -> Locale & Text -> Select locale and select your language.

Btw: my screen is in portrait, not landscape.

Did you follow these steps?
How to get the correct key mappings on the phone?
- After setting up the whole Google Android system, you may find that some buttons do not work / or some does not correspond.
To solve this issue:

1) Go to this site (http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/198699/linux_wing/zImage-elf) and download the file.

It's loaded from WM, so after a soft reset you are in WM again.

I also like the new models but Elf is very useful and I don't need to carry in the pocket with my keys and RG's and etc the new devices :-). Yes they are much better and faster but Elf look more handy for me ... Also I will not sorry so much if I hit it or lose in the sea.

Dont Worry, even though I maybe a little lag on the updating here and there because I am using Opera Mini to read the topics here, I will update it within a few hours later when I get back from school!

Do remember to keep at least 300mb ++ free on your SD Card to prevent installation issues.

that wont happen anytime soon if ever, and seems too dangerous to me.
anyway, you can achieve a similar thing by booting directly to android with EOL (http://vivien.chappelier.free.fr/typhoon/index.html).
however i havent tried it and u will need some knowledge to do it.
someone had mentioned it in the old linwizard thread.

maybe someone can request darkstar to make a SD image with eol + android for each supported device at the same time that he makes the cabs.

On my elf it works little bit slowly as it shoud, but I think, it's because of it's emulated, am I right?

haret is a bootloader not an emulator. so no, its not emulated in the sense of a virtual machine (like vmware). its more like a grub version that can run from inside windows.
once u are inside android, WM is completely gone.

EDIT:

i think the old eol repo is not working, try this one:

Has anyone tried using the GPRS while roaming? I conifgured the APN for my carrier, selected the circle next to it so it became green, and enabled "Data roaming" under "Mobile network settings". However, when I try to use the Browser it says that there is no connection.

Meanwhile the connection icon at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator shows full strength with an upper-case R.

Features from 0.4pre3 include:

- Provisioning patch added so Android can receive calls on first boot
- New AT&T APN support
- New board support for HTC Opal, Pharos, and Excalibur
- Fixed reset_ts functionality so it doesn't loop forever
- Video rotation on keyboard slide fixed for Wizard and many others
- New keybindings for Elf and Elfin
- Fixed SD card mounting in Android
- Added new fake battery driver so no more /sys_dev cludge is needed to boot Android
- Lots of miscellaneous bug fixes

thx darkstar

EDIT:

i tested it, and it worked ok out of the box.

For 0.4pre3 using the Herald cab ONLY:
How to get the correct key mappings on the phone?
- After setting up the whole Google Android system, you may find that some buttons do not work / or some does not correspond.
To solve this issue:

1) Go to this site (http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/198699/linux_wing/zImage-elf) and download the file.

Reference is attached here, just in case any users wish to roll back to 0.4pre3

Thanks.

Just tried the new version and I still get stuck at the same place: everything seems to work fine up to the point were I get a text login screen and nothing happens. If, at that point, I reset the phone, all the data in my SD is gone and 250mb are missing from the total size of the SD (reformatting the SD recovers the missing 250mb).

Could it be possible my board is not supported? I had to take the phone for service because the digitizer stopped working and the board was replaced.

How long do you wait? Sometimes it seems to be stuck but it's still installing/booting.

How long do you wait? Sometimes it seems to be stuck but it's still installing/booting.

I've been waiting up to one hour and nothing ever happened....This afternoon I've been able to login using ssh. It seems that for some reason, is not booting into android. Manually running /etc/init.d/android will get me to the calibration screen, but it stops just after the calibration.

One more thing....is it normal to get segmentation fault errors during the installation process?

Good guide, but there is one thing that bothers me:

It uses a software called Linwizard (Haret) inside Windows Mobile to boot Android up. (Something like VMWare / Parallels / VirtualBox )

This is incorrect. It doesn't boot Android in a VM. Haret actually kicks out WM from RAM and boots NATIVELY the linux kernel.

Witaj w dyskusji i temacie rozwoju projektu Wing Linux (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=222615&d=1251737343

Temat jest oparty na temacie "Linwizard, Now What?" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4439572#post4439572). Kiedy mamy inny cel, zdecydowaliśmy się zrobić osoby temat.

--

Na czym to polega?
Telefon wciaż pozostaje na platformie Windows Mobile, ale gdy włączysz Android zabija on procesy Windows Mobile i uruchamia procesy Androida, więc używa RAM, jakby był to główny system, a nie wirtualna maszyna.
Po soft-resecie, wszystko wraca do normy i z powrotem używasz Windows.
--
Nowości
Nowości dotyczące projektu.

Aktualizacje:
Milestone: Wydanie 0.5 dla Wing Linux

Wydanie skupia się na ulepszeniu komponentów systemu.
Linux Kernel 2.6.32 lub nowszy (aligned to upstream)
Dźwięk/wifi działa
Ustawienia poboru energii
Pełne wsparcie HTC Artemis

0.4.2 Wydane!
Zmiany:
- Bazowany na Android V1.5r4 (Cupcake)
- Dodatkowo, w wersji 0.4.2 można resetować telefon z poziomu Androida -- przytrzymując wciśnięty klawisz End i wybranie opcji Power Off, nasz elf(in) powinien się zrestartować.

Poszukujemy
Potrzebujemy programistów do naprawienia funkcji związanych z podsystemem audio.

Jak zacząć z Wing Linux?
- Zrób kopię zapasową karty pamięci i pamięci telefonu przed zrobieniem czegokolwiek!

- Działa z Windows XP i Vista
- Ustawienia kart sieciowych
adres ip: 10.100.0.2
maska podsieci: 255.255.0.0
2) Pobierz WinSCP (http://winscp.net/)
3) Zainstaluj!
4) Ustawienia WinSCP:
- Serwer: 10.100.0.1
- Użytkownik: root
- Hasło: wing
5) Żeby zainstalować programy na Google Android.
- Najpierw pobierz jakiś program!
6) Wklej pliki .apks do /system/app/directory poprzez WinSCP
- (np: scp xxx.apk root@10.100.0.1:/system/data/)
7) Koniec! Powinno pokazać się w liście aplikacji!

Co nie działa na chwilę obecną?
- Aparat
- Dźwięk
- Sieci bezprzewodowe
- Bluetooth
- Tryb czuwania
- "Wyłączenie" telefonu.

Na dzień dzisiejszy, możesz używać Androida do ..
- Przeglądania internetu przez GPRS (Potrzebuje ustawień)
- SMS-owania
- Kalendarzu
- Przeglądania i edycji kontaktów

FAQ

Q: Na czym mogę używać Wing Linux?
A: Na GSM HTC Touch / Działa na Elfie i Elfinie.
Jeśli używasz wersji CDMA HTC Touch, wejdź na forum dotyczące HTC Vogue.

Q: Mój telefon to Elf czy Elfin?
A: Wejdź w Start > Ustawienia > System > Informacje o urzadzeniu > zakładka Sprzęt, jeżeli w polu 'RAM size' pokazane jest 64MB to Elf, a jeśli pokazano 128MB RAM i 256MB Flash to Elfin.

Q: Ile miejsca to zajmuję?
A: Przewidziane jest koło 300mb, gdyż sam obraz zajmuję 250mb.

Q: Nie mogę połączyć się z siecią
A: Wyłącz kod PIN używając Windows Mobile przed uruchomieniem Androida.

Q: Jak uruchomić połączenie sieciowe (GPRS) ?
A: Wejdź w ustawienia APN i ustaw punkt dostępu według operatora sieci.

Q: Jak odnowić proces kalibracji?
A: Wejdź w folder storage card, potem do folderu o nazwie 'linux', i otwórz plik default.txt.

A: Przejdź tutaj (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4539762&postcount=111)

Q: Jeżeli mam więcej pytań ...
A: Napisz tutaj post i oczekuj na odpowiedź. Nie wysyłaj mi prywatnych wiadomości. Dziękuję.

Q: Chcę otrzymywać aktualne informację o Wing Linux.
A: Odwiedź nasz kanał IRC: #wing-linux na serwisie freenode.org

Hi Good woprk in collecting this data and giving this awesome guide

I have followed the steps and it boots fine with the known issues but i noticed that after soft reset and return to winmo that the battery drop sharply ( about 1% for every minute use in android omg thats huge even if it work someday our batteries cannot support it )

Linwizard, Now What? (http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=ru&sl=en&tl=ru&u=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php%3Fp%3D4439572&rurl=translate.google.ru&usg=ALkJrhjFdKvyrWQAibCE2o4vn-SIUAoVIA#post4439572) .

Поддержка AT&T APN
Excalibur
Elfin
Android

Wing Linux?
Wing Linux (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki)

Google Android?
Wing Linux
6) Android

Windows
Vista
ip: 10.100.0.2
mask: 255.255.0.0
WinSCP (http://winscp.net/)
Google Android
- (ex: scp xxx.apk root@10.100.0.1:/system/data/)

- Wifi
- Bluetooth

Vogue.

Elfin?

Android.

Hi i was just wondering if there is another way to install apps to the android runtime other than through usb? Am running on a Wizard, have downloaded the etho tool from the first post but can't get it to run on the pc. Is there a way of opening up the rootfs.img. Have downloaded win image which will open the file. but can't get it to inject files into System/apps. Can extract the whole package with winimage but don't know prefernces for creating a new image with the extra apps included. Thanks in advance, Jimsie. Oh by the way runs a treat, GPRS and everything.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=222615&d=1251737343

(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4439572#post4439572).

Support de AT&T APN

Bouton vert (appeler) - Retour
Bouton rouge (raccrocher) - Fin d'appel
Bouton central (joystick) - Menu
Haut (joystick) - Haut
Bas (joystick) - Bas
Gauche (joystick) - Gauche
Droite (joystick) - Droite
Camera - Retour
Volume haut - Volume haut
Volume bas - Volume bas

This is pretty cool, Jeremy. By the way, how is your Android device compared to Windows Mobile? I am thinking of getting the LG GW620 from my carrier but it only has firmware 1.5...

Android is 200x better than Windows Mobile, it is very customizable. But do remember one thing, make sure that there is a Developer forum for whatever phone you take. For example, my HERO has a XDA Forum.

Lots of market stuff, lots of apps are free and there are more and more apps being developed. which is indexed.

I'd really like to give this a go, but I keep getting errors on first run. No errors on install onto storage card, but when I go to run wing, I get a EXCEPTION while reading from address XXXXXXXX error. Close that error and it pops back up with a different address number. ????? Any ideas?

thanks...

Hey Jeremy, Wondering if you can help me out.

I have read through the entire thread here... I am having the same issues as the quote above. No one answered this question so far.

I have downloaded the latest 4.2 rootfs.cab and installed it. I then installed the elf.cab. These were both installed onto a 4gb SD card with nothing else on it so there is definitely no space issues. When I go to start >> programs and click on wing linux to start running I get the error "An EXCEPTION while reading from address XXXXXXXX error. The X being a random string of characters and numbers. When I click the 'OK' another one pops up again and again. The only way to get out of this is to soft reset.

I have tried just about everything and read this entire thread... what am I doing wrong?

I suspect an address violation.

Hi All,

I was explorin the file systemto find why the APN information is not adding..I came to know from this web site http://androidzaurus.seesaa.net/article/102509026.html that there is no telephony.db in the rootfs.tar.gz.

The folder structure in the rootfs.tar.gz has to be in this way

data/data/com.android.providers.telephony.databses/telephony.db

I think the Wing linux has to be updated with this database and have to release a as updated version.

I am sorry if I am wrong in this. In APns config file the APNS entry is there for all countries.

Please jeremy89632 and other known guys please update this. or guide me how to build the wing linux and where to get the source I shall update this and post the result after testing.

Cheers,
Venkat

--
News Centre
News updates for this project.

Updates:
We've also been working hard with the Linwizard project bringing our kernel changes to the main-line kernel. So far, we've got a kernel booting with SD card support, up from not having any omap850 support at all. We're still waiting on our patches to be approved, but I'm hopeful we'll get them in soon. This work will give us lots of new things for our project, one of which is long-awaited sound support and wifi -- not to mention all the work on power management that's been done since our kernel was released.

0.4.2 Released!
Features include:
- Runs on Android V1.5r4 (Cupcake)
- Additionally, 0.4.2 includes the ability to reboot your phone from Android -- simply hold down End and select Power Off. Your phone will reboot.

Wanted
Developers for Sound needed for device.

Key Commands!
Green button - Back
Red button - End Call
Center (joystick) - Menu
Up (joystick) - Up
Down (joystick) - Down
Left (joystick) - Left
Right (joystick) - Right
Camera - Back
Sound Up - Volume Up
Sound Down - Volume Down

How to copy files / install apps into Android using Windows
1) Install this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=84122&d=1209554226) 'Ethernet Gadget' Drivers (In order to let the phone talk to the PC)
- It works for both Windows XP and Vista (There will be prompts here and there)
- Settings for network card
ip: 10.100.0.2
mask: 255.255.0.0
2) Download WinSCP (http://winscp.net/)
3) Install em!
4) Key in the following settings into WinSCP:
- Server: 10.100.0.1
- Username: root
- Password: wing
5) To install Google Android Apps
- Make sure to download the app first!
6) Put the .apks to /system/app/directory through WinSCP
- (ex: scp xxx.apk root@10.100.0.1:/system/data/)
7) Done! It will show up in the application list!

What is not working yet?
- Camera
- Sound
- Wireless
- Bluetooth
- Standby Mode
- "Power Off" phone.

From the status of this project, you CAN use this phone for ..
- Surfing GPRS (Needs some setting up to do)
- SMS
- Calender
- Contacts

1. This guy claims to have a working sound driver on the htc omap 850 can we have included and tried out ?
http://open-nandra.com/2009/10/repository-for-omap850-audio-driver-update/
The driver in question is in http://github.com/nandra/omap_850_kernel/tree/master/drivers/misc/

2. I am unable to save a apn and connect to gprs. I had tried adding Apn configuration in the apns-conf.xml in the system/etc directory but noticed that on the line 336, column 21 due to the & character the telephony.db does not get created properly.
The following error can be observed in logcat output
E/TelephonyProvider( 3101): org.xmlpull.v1.XmlPullParserException: Error parsing document. (position:line -1, column -1) caused by: org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser$ParseException: At line 336, column 22: not well-formed (invalid token)
E
When this"AT&T US" APN is removed the telephone.db was created with about 32/33 entries other wise it has only 13 entries.

This did not solve my problem still debugging it.

Jeremy, I do want to thank you and your team for this fine effort you are doing on Android for htc elf devices. I installed it on my Venezuelan Digitel HTC touch elf 100 and it did what you said. I will be waiting for the upgrades to fix the wifi, sound and gprs limitations I still have. There was no way that I could set up the gprs web values for my Digitel Carrier in Venezuela to be able to browse the internet but the dialer worked fine and I was able to make my calls.
I am a Ubuntu user and this mobile OS really fits me well. Thanks again.

I have a T-Mobile branded Elfin, and haven't managed to get any version of wing linux running on it.

After pressing "Run", I get a screen with around 6 lines of code, like in the video. Then they disappear, and I get a screen with one line of dots on, like this:
......................................

The dots then disappear, and I get "preparing to enable interupts" on the screen. After a while the screen turns off, and nothing happens after that. I then have to reset the phone to get back to Windows Mobile.

I have seen this exact behaviour with various wm6.5 and wm6.5.x ROMs. Any solutions would be appreciated!

EDIT: A working device should get up to the "preparing to enable interupts" line, then more lines should appear on the screen. This leads me to believe my device can't enable interupts for some reason...

So everyone's probably seen the extensive changes we did to the initrd. If not find them in this post here. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625014) We've removed the rootfs completely. And setup an amazing new install menu, this was all vilord and if anyone deserves a donation it's him. This means that no older builds with work with this until they've been updated. We're going to post a new thread with instructions to create a compatible system. These builds are both setup for 320x480 resolution, however it is very easy now to change stuff. So if on windows download 7zip, open the tar file with zip, than open the build.prop and change the LCD Density accordingly. Save the changes and when prompted add the changed file back in.
instructions
unrar the file and copy the androidinstall.tar so a folder on your sdcard called andboot.
If you have no data enter your apn settings
Download the files from the thread linked at the top, if you don't have the new nbh and basefiles it won't work.
Put this file in your andboot folder, reboot your phone and hold up.
Install the system and reboot.
When it asks you about provision wizard or settings wizard, choose settings wizard, it will ask you a second time to enter your gmail, just hold down the camera for two seconds to skip

Build 1.
Eclair 2.1 Vogue edition, Based on the XROM port from cyanogens eclair build. ported and tweaked by me :);
Features;
Working Audio
Working GPS
Partially working bluetooth (I've some kernel updates to finish I think)
Full sleep support
Customized Animated Wallpapers for our phones, I rewritten the app to use lower resolutions, less sprites and lowered other features. As well I've optimized the images to make them use ALOT less ram. I am still working on this app so watch this thread for updates for the livewallpapers. As example I've fixed, but not yet included the galaxy wallpaper, and made more progress on water.. But I've got to post this sometime :)
It's a little slow to start but runs great once it's up and running.

What doesn't work

Camera, that's next on the list of libs to work on.
Some of the animated wallpapers don't work and the grass one is way too big still.
While the audio in works, things like the voice search and voicekeyboard don't tend to get the right words. There's been some fun ones come up :)
Bluetooth syncs with my headset but I get no sound. Please let me know if it's the same for you. I believe there's more to do to the libs to get bluetooth working properly.

Additional Info
It's a little slow to start up because I'm making sure all the apps are optimized on every boot. Maps isn't included, so you can update it.

Build 2
This is just a port of an older WesG build from the dream forums. It's rock solid stable with no issues, again though you have to enter your own apn information. I haven't yet applied the BT fix yet, but as the system is so easy to work with now anyone can do it :)
