Under that same concept, you could wire your BA to your car battery you will have a BA that runs on gasoline. You get more horsepower, but the drawback is that you damage the enviornment :D

Good God! Some people are either really creative or really need a new hobby (or bigger pockets as noted in a few more comments)

LOL, now i have seen it all. but mind you ingenius to say the least, but a better solution would have been to hook that same battery pack with the power adapter that comes with the Blue Angel, and let it charge the internal battery. they've made similar devices for the ipods and iphones for awhile now letting you talk and use the phoe while charging the internal battery. and not look like your carrying an explosive charge hahaha
But well done on the implementation!

You don't need any adapter. Just connect these large batteries directly to ones inside the original battery pack and wait for the battery to charge

I've made something similar but with another purpose. My 4 li-on battery pack powering my bike powerled lamp and by the way, charging my Kaiser when i need this ( I'm using it at riding my bike, gps is so powerhungry :P ). I had to use a voltage regulator to drop voltage from 16.8v to 5v because my lamp need high voltage. That's why i don't connected batteries in parallel mode. It looks like in the picture below and working like charm :)

nice! what kind of cells did you use? 5 cells of 1.5 volt each? 'cause i stripped an old dead battery and removed the battery pack so now i only have the shell. with two wires leading to the battery-pda connector. i'll probably buy a few cells just to try it out :-)

If you are going to do anything to your Polaris, make sure that you find a hardware guide to wire the batteries properly or else you can end up burning the device.

Yes, 5 rechargable 1.5V cells...

Be careful guys! Those were not 1,5V cells, but 3,6V (Li-ion from a notebook) connected in paralel. When they're full the voltage is about 4.1 to 4.2V. Instead of Li-ion you can use 3 1.2 volt cells (Ni-MH) connected in series (to get 3.6V). Take 3 of these:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/images7/sanyo_2700mah_nimh.jpg
and you'll get 2700mAh battery for BA :)
Considering how much power new windows uses, this (or more) will be "a must" :(

Man, you're a GENIUS!

Why?

Because of idea of using stripped laptop batteries!
I thought about doing something very close to this, but idea of hanging 30 1.2V batteries (ofcoz, just for laugh, but WiFi suuuuuucks big time!) is pretty ridiculous.

They have 4.1V, as mentioned before. Way to go, man!

Hi. I myself cant stop laughing too when I read this thread, but no disrespect to the person who did the mod. Later I realise that some parts of the Philippines has no landline only cell phone coverage. This mod probably came out of necessity as the saying goes (Necessity is the mother of all Invention) and people living in those remote area have little means of livelyhood so making the most out of something we (city dwelling people) take for granted. More power to the modder.

I have tried something like this with my HTC beetles(ipaq hw6515) but only with 2x2200mah cells, it worked about 10 days without charge :D but after 2-3 cycles I've encountered problems - auto turn-off when there's 40% left. :) thanks for the idea, I was thinking where to use 6x2200mah cells :D
P.S. checked in the airport - no one thought that it was a bomb... ;)

LuckyNeo
29th December 2011, 12:55 PM
I have replaced original BA battery with 5 lithium batteries (3.7V 2400mAh each) according to this thread.
I have connected them in parallel and joined with corresponding wires in battery cover. When I charge them with original BA charger they get to almost 4.2 volts. When BA turns off because of low battery they have 4.1 volts. So they last for 2-4 days of common use. But people in here are talking about two weeks or more.
I don't understand why BA uses only 0.1V if it has another 0.4V available to completely discharge battery.
What can be wrong? Where is the difference between my batteries and yours?

marko_serb
4th January 2012, 05:46 PM
It's easy :) Your batteries are dead :) got them out of an old notebook? They got voltage when there is no load on them. But as soon as the phone draws some power - the voltage drops for a split second to below 4V or less.

Give us some more info, I'm probably wrong :D
