I've been looking for a app to do this and cant find it. Basically the situation is this, I'm a painter (interior) and like to post before and after pics. The thing is that it it impossible to get the angle right to do it close enough to exact same location. I'm thinking it wouldn't be difficult to somehow use that panoramic effect the camera already has to overlap the before and after images. Anyway if you could develop this app the loads of money would probably roll in for you. Thanks for looking!

From my understanding it would be very difficult to have a app do this as it is all down to perspective (as you say same place, same angle etc).

If it was me I would create a mount to hold the phone (or buy one),
-I'd go for a piece of wood with a cheap phone holder on top
-Add a couple of cheap spirit levels - to get the rig level
-The height from the ground would be set by the mount

So with the above you've got the height, and angles (of the phone/camera) fixed.

Then if you didn't want to do it by eye, I'd add a mounting point for a laser tape measure to get your distance from a couple of fixed points.

And then take a couple of pics and when you've finished your work, go back in use the laser to get the correct point in the room, then level the mount, and take your after pics.

A bit hashed together I admit, but I can see no reason why it wouldn't give you what you needed.

Thats pretty much what I'm doing to be honest I'm just kinda standing in the same spot and shooting the pics. Think about it though the panorama photo does this already. I just want to use a previous photo as a transparent template to shoot over which would take much less time and give me better results. I understand your answer and appreciate the effort but for me as a painter to to take the time to set up a contraption to hold the camera, take measurements then take it all down to paint the room then set it up again takes too much time and time is MONEY. That's why I want an app to do it for me quickly.
Thanks a lot for the input though I'm still working on it.

Any idea where I might post this to get more views or is that frowned upon?
