I was thinking of getting a new phone in the next few weeks, but I am still on the fence if it is worth it. I currently have a Polaris (HTC Touch Cruise). I was thinking about going with a HTC Hero, HTC Touch2 or Iphone.
The HTC Hero looks very sexy with the neat UI and ability to keep up via Twitter, Facebook and all that stuff. But Android does not have much support from business applications: Audible.com, Stock Brokers for mobile trading, Quicken/MS Money, Banking Software, etc, etc.
Iphone has critical mass and is supported by the banks, stock brokers and all that. It looks sexy, but is it worth the change and I can only have 1 application open at a time - big downside. But the 3Gs is the fastest fone :)
So I think at this point, I want to stay with HTC. What is the major difference between Touch2 (WM6.5) and Hero (Android)? Are the UIs the same and just the OS different? Can one do something the other cannot? I am concerned the the newest of Android and lack of supporting applications would mean too large a loss in functionality compared to staying with a Windows Mobile.
Do you think Android will ever hit critical mass that businesses develop apps for it like they have done with the iPhone or will it continue to be a minor share of the market for the years to come? What are the key advantages to moving to an Android phone at this point in time?
